Margie Moorer

CAYCE — Margie Lee Moorer, 55, wife of Bobby Moorer Sr., passed away June 19, 2000.
Born in Lexington, she was a daughter of the late Tillman and Ruby Elise McCormick Goodwin.
Survivors include her husband of Cayce; a daughter, Pamela Keaton of West Columbia; a son, Bobby Moorer Jr. of West Columbia; two sisters, Evelyn Jones of Blythewood and Sarah Boykin of Bishopville; a brother, Paul Goodwin of Saluda; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Central Church of the Nazarene, conducted by the Rev. Harry Widener. Burial will be in Southland Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Sam Cable, Ronald Moorer Jr., Ricky Moorer, Steve Rikard, Roger Moorer and Steve Martin.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Thompson Funeral Home, West Columbia.

Effie L. Page

MOUNT CARMEL — Services for Effie L. Page, of Route 1, Box 14-B, will be at 2 Friday at Rockford AME Church, conducted by the Rev. James Louden III. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Visitation is Thursday evening at the residence.

Thomas F. Watt

HONEA PATH — Thomas Floyd Watt, 74, of 812 Holiday Dam Road, husband of Mary Ellen Mattison Watt, passed away June 20, 2000.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Lewis L. and Fannie Lee Boatwright Watt. He retired from the Army after 23 years, serving in the 82nd Airborne in World War II, the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Ware Shoals Lodge 306 AFM, the Boyd Bobo Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and the Kerak Shrine Temple of Las Vegas.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Thomas Bruce Watt of Honea Path; a daughter, Barbara Watt Johnson of Honea Path; a brother, Furman Ray Watt of Jacksonville, N.C.; a sister, Flora Watt Fox of Aiken; a stepbrother, J.T. Vinson of Piedmont; a stepsister, Gladys Sobee of Greer; and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 3 Friday at Friendship Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ray Patterson. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorials Gardens, with full military rites. The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Visitation is from 7-9 Thursday at Pruitt Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

Ronnie Lamb

McCORMICK — Ronnie Lamb, a three-sport athlete of the 60s who this year was named one of the Lakelands “100 Greatest Sports Figures of the Century,” passed away Tuesday at an Aiken hospital.
Lamb, 56, a John de la Howe School resident, starred in football, basketball and baseball for McCormick High. He also was an outstanding American Legion Post 20 baseball player.
Upon graduation in 1963, Lamb attended the University of South Carolina where he was a running back and an all-Atlantic Coast Conference baseball player.
He played in the Canadian Football League and then for the Denver Broncos, Cincinnati Bengals and wound up his career with the Atlanta Falcons.
Frank Hill, head football coach and athletics director at Emerald High, recalls Lamb as “a one-man wrecking crew when we at Hickory Tavern played against him.
“He was one of the best and might be the best running back I ever faced,” Hill said.
Earle Purkerson Jr., former sports editor of The Index-Journal, ecalls Lamb as “the leading touchdown-producer of this area, and a very good basketball and baseball player.”
Lamb was selected to the “100 Greatest” by a panel of area sports history authorities assembled by The Index-Journal.
Lamb returned to McCormick in retirement four years ago and became a mentor to De la Howe students.

Casey Birchfield

HONEA PATH — Casey Nicole Birchfield, 15, of 127 W. Greer St., passed away June 22, 2000, at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of Michael Birchfield and Sheila Bell Birchfield. She was a member of Honea Path Church of God and a rising sophomore at Belton-Honea Path High School, where she was a Project pIdeals honor student and a member of the FFA.
Survivors include her father of Anderson; her mother of Honea Path; a stepfather, Randy Gilmer of Honea Path; a half brother, Michael Dwayne Birchfield of Anderson; a stepbrother, Christopher Gilmer of Honea Path; two stepsisters, Chasity Gilmer of Honea Path and Haley Vaughn of Anderson; maternal grandparents, John and Dorothy Bell of Honea Path; paternal grandparents, Dale and Linda McMahan of Starr; paternal great-grandparents, Johnny and Maggie McMahan of Honea Path.
Services will be at 2 Sunday at Honea Path Church of God, conducted by the Rev. George Cooper and the Rev. David Sellers. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Pruitt Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of a grandmother, Dot Bell, 203 Sirrine St., Honea Path.

Lawrence E. Franklin

SILVERSTREET — Memorial services for Lawrence Edward Kelly Franklin, 35, will be at 11 a.m. today at Wilson Funeral Home.
Franklin passed away Feb. 29, 2000. Born in Stamford, Conn., he was a son of Lawrence Luther McKinley Franklin and Mamie Ruth Monroe Franklin. He was employed by Packaging Corporation of America.
Survivors include his father of Athens, Ga.; his mother of Bridgeport, Conn.; two daughters, Doris Plummer of Newberry and Layla Franklin of Silverstreet; sisters; brothers; a stepmother, Barbara Franklin of Prosperity; and a step-grandmother, Mildred Matthews of Newberry.
Wilson Funeral Home, Newberry, is in charge.

Frank Harbin

GREENWOOD — Franklin N. Harbin, 81, of 313 Lakeshore Drive, husband of Edna Foster Harbin, passed away June 23, 2000 at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Franklin Esque and Mary Smith Harbin, He was retired from Greenwood Mills plant #4 and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of WOW and Lowell Street United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Men’s Sunday School Class.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of the home; are four sons, Mike Harbin of Seattle, Wash., Jerry Harbin of Orlando, Fla., Randy Harbin of Greenwood and Stephen Harbin of Orlando, Fla; a daughter, Susan Williams of Greenwood; four sisters, Clara Conwell, Ruby Jordan and Jean Bearden, all of Greenwood, and Louise Still of Seattle, Wash.; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 Sunday at Lowell Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Allen and the Rev. David Templeton, with burial in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Pallbearers are Ken Harbin, Keith Harbin, Michael Harbin, Michael Williams, Stephen Williams and Kenny Harbin.
Honorary escorts are the men of Lowell Street United Methodist Church and members of the Men’s Bible Class.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Harley Funeral Home. The family is at the home.

WARE SHOALS — Frances C. Anderson, 83, widow of J. Frank Anderson, passed away June 25, 2000, at White Oak Manor, North Charleston.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Austin and Sallie Mae Blackwell Coleman. She was retired from Huggins Garment Co. in Donalds and a member of Providence Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Anderson Burnett of Summerville; a sister, Annie Maude Gosnell of Ware Shoals; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 Tuesday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by Rev. Bennie Riddlehover.
Visitation is from 9:30-10:30 Tuesday morning at Parker-White Funeral Home.

Mosey L. Cameron

NINETY SIX — Mosey Lee Cameron, 74, of 203 Johnston Road, widow of Thomas Lewie Cameron, passed away June 26, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Saluda, she was a daughter of the late Mose and Eva Cockrell Chapman. She was retired from Greenwood Mills, Sloan Plant and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, where she was a member of the TEL Sunday School Class and a former Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include two sons, Terry L. Cameron of McDonough, Ga. and Richard A. Cameron of Ninety Six; a sister, Ella Louise Adams of Saluda; four brothers, William Chapman, Sam Chapman, and Mert Chapman, all of Saluda, and Donald Chapman of Laurens; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 Wednesday at Temple Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Charles Owens. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Walt Pruitt, David Taylor, Cecil Lowe, Dr. David Henderson, Johnny Boozer, and Joseph Rinehart.
Honorary escorts will be members of the TEL and Faithful Workers Sunday School Classes of Temple Baptist Church.

GREENWOOD — Ruby Pope Eustace, 65, of 140 Kingston Road, passed away June 25, 2000, at her home.
Born in Georgia, she was a daughter of the late William and Leona Hill Pope. She was retired from HospiceCare of the Piedmont and attended Hodges Church of God and Grace Community Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Karen Longshore of the home, Tina Collins and Jeannie Swafford, both of Greenwood, and Peggy Ann Biggerstaff of McCormick; a son, David Eustace Jr. of Hodges; two sisters, Vinnie Dill of Greenwood and Verna Medlin of Cincinnati; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 Tuesday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by Revs. Charles Caldwell and John Walsh. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Freddie Pope, Jerry Horton, Johnny Eustace, Henry Pope, Gerald Pope, Richey Allen, David Allen, Jodd Smith, Rick Waits and Greg Boyd.
Honorary escorts are Danny Pope and Mary Guido.
Visitation is from 7-9 Monday at the funeral home.
