Henry Lee Parkman

GREENWOOD — Henry Lee Parkman, 59, of 1604 S. Main St., husband of Julia Mae Gladney Parkman, passed away June 25, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Saluda County, he was the son of James Parkman and the late Gablue Gilliam Parkman.
He was a retired mill operator at the Old Southern Brick Yard.
He was a member of Willow Spring Baptist Church and attended Antioch Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school class.
He was a former guitar player for the Angel Tone Singers.
Survivors include wife of the home; a son, Rev. Ronnie Parkman of Greenwood; an adopted son, Bryant Williams of the home; an adopted daughter, Latoya Gladney of the home; three sisters, Annie Lue Parkman of Providence, RI, Rosa Mae Parkman of Greenwood and Ashley Patterson of Fayetteville, N.C.; and a grandchild.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

Edred Willis Sr.

ABBEVILLE — Edred Willis Sr., 77, of 124 Harrisburg St., husband of Eva Mae Hill Willis, passed away June 22, 2000, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Lincoln County, Ga., he was a son of the late Lewis and Martha Blackwell Willis. He was a World War II veteran and a retired warehouse foreman with Rocky River Plant. He was a member of St. Charlotte Baptist Church, Sons of Aid No. 30 and Dreher Masonic Lodge 370.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Edred Willis Jr. of Anderson and Bobby Willis of Abbeville; a brother, Benny G. Willis of Lincolnton, Ga.; a sister, Doretha Willis of Philadelphia; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be at 2 Thursday at St. Charlotte Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Gil Harper. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Pallbearers are the Dreher Masonic Lodge 370.
Flower bearers are the Queen Abbeville Chapter 236 Order of Eastern Star.
The family is at the home.
Brown and Walker Funeral Home is in charge.

James W. Bussey

WARE SHOALS — Services for James Walter Bussey, of 38 S. Greenwood Ave., will be at 2 Thursday at Robinson-Walker Funeral Service, conducted by the Rev. James F. Davis III. Burial will be private.
Visitation is from 12:30-2 Thursday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.

Frank J. Head

LYMAN — Frank James Head, 77, 501 Holly Springs Road, husband of Elizabeth Godfrey Head, passed away June 26, 2000, at his home.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late James Andrew Head and Lillian Head Roberts and stepson of the late Kirby Roberts. He was a retired driver for Ackers Motor Line and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Linda Staton of Greenville and Judy Crider of Taylors; three sons, Wayne Head of Greer, Tony Head of Easley and Allan Godfrey of Gaffney; two stepsisters, Myrtle Cox and Hortense Phillips, both of Waterloo; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
Services will be at 2 Thursday at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by the Rev. John Everhardt and the Rev. Max Benshoof. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Pallbearers are grandsons.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the mortuary.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Blvd., Suite 101, Spartanburg, S.C. 29301.
The Wood Mortuary, Greer, is in charge.

Alice S. Jennings

HODGES — Alice S. Jennings, 99, of 101 Piney Grove Road, widow of Wash Jennings, passed away June 26, 2000, at her home.
Born in Augusta, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Luther and Julia Huffman Sturkey. She was a member of Dunn Creek Baptist Church, Ware Shoals, where she served as president of the Missionary Society for 27 years and was a member of Jubilee Choir and the Adult Women’s Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker and worked in the textile industry for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Julia Sheard of the home and Ruth Thompson of Belton; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 Thursday at Dunn Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. James Davis. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-8 tonight at the church in Ware Shoals.
The family is at the home.
Holloway’s Funeral Home, Belton, is in charge.

Henry Lee Parkman

GREENWOOD — Services for Henry Lee Parkman, of 1604 S. Main St., will be at 1 Friday, at Willow Spring Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. E.L. Cain, assisted by Elder Willie C. Morton and Minister Eric Williams. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at noon.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are friends of the family.
Visitation is Thursday evening at the home.
Robinson and Son Mortuary Inc. is in charge.

Roberta L. Spivey

PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Roberta Lynn Spivey, 65, wife of Lance Chanders Spivey Jr., passed away June 21, 2000.
A native of Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Oscar S. and Bessie Coleman Turner. She lived in Panama City for 31 years and worked for Bay County School system as a secretary at Tyndall Elementary School for 23 years. She was a member of Parker Baptist Church and Bay County Association of Educational Professionals.
Survivors include her husband of Panama City; a son, Chan Spivey III of Panama City; two daughters, Leai Tenbrunsel of Atlanta and Susan Addeeb of Tampa; a brother, the Rev. Thomas S. Turner of Lyman, S.C.; three sisters, Mary T. Garrison, Katherine T. Cannon and Pearl T. Smith, all of Greenwood; four granddaughters and two step-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Saturday at Ken-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Chris T. Garrison.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Florida, 2589 Jenks Ave., Panama City, Fla. 32405.
Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home was in charge.

ABBEVILLE — Marion Douglas “Doug” Taylor, 74, of 109 Moore St., husband of Freddie Carroll Taylor, passed away June 28, 2000, at his home.
Services will be announced by Harris Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Tommie L. Wells

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Tommie Lee Wells, 71, of 2109 Maryland Ave., passed away June 25, 2000, at the VA Medical Center.
Born in Saluda, S.C., he was a son of the late Clayton and Rosie Pink Hawkins Wells. He was a member of Crossroad AME Church, Saluda, and an Army Korean War veteran.
Survivors include a sister, Willie H. Herbert of Columbia, S.C., and a brother, Clayton Wells Jr. of Saluda.
Services will be at 1 Friday at Crossroad AME Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Butler and Sons Funeral Home, Saluda, is in charge.

Bernard Wrice

MAULDIN — Bernard “Bunny” Wrice, 51, of 142 Brook Bend Road, husband of Celia T. Wrice, passed away June 26, 2000, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Carnell and Genera Hill Wrice. He was a member of Mount Zion Christian Fellowship.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Joshua B. Wrice, Joseph D. Wrice and Samuel N. Wrice, all of the home; a daughter, Anna M. Wrice of the home; three brothers, Carnell Wrice of Greenville and Bobby Wrice and Roosevelt Wrice, both of Laurens; and a sister, Lula Bell Hill.
Services will be at 2 Thursday at Mount Zion Christian Fellowship, Mauldin, with burial in Laurel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Waterloo.
Visitation is from 1-2 Thursday at Mount Zion Christian Fellowship.

Patricia Grice

ABBEVILLE — Patricia Murray Grice, 68, of 114 Buckhall Lane, Honea Path, widow of Karl Raymond Grice Jr., passed away June 29, 2000, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Jacksonville, Fla., she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack Murray. She was a graduate of Winthrop College, a retired teacher with Dixie High School, Due West, and a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Abbeville.
Survivors include two sons, Karl Raymond “Chip” Grice III of Honea Path and Tony Grice of Abbeville; a daughter, Patti Stair of Mount Pleasant; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 today at Harris Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Christopher Brice . Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
Visitation is from 2-3 today at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 911, Abbeville, S.C. 29620.
