GREENWOOD — Mary Roylyn Hitt, 55, of 221 Circle Drive, wife of Carlton Lamar Hitt, passed away Sept. 4, 2000, at her home.
Visitation is from 7-9 Wednesday at Blyth Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Mary Lou Lindsay

CROSS HILL — Mary Lou Smith Lindsay, “Lady,” wife of Marshell Lindsay, passed away Sept. 2, 2000, at her home.
A daughter of the late Willie James and Lenora Hill Smith, she was a member of St. Vaughnville Baptist Church, Chappells, and the Eastern Star. She worked at Greenwood Packing Plant.
Survivors include her husband; a son, James R. Lindsay of Hodges; two sisters, Jessie Lee Hendrix of Easley and Patricia Williams of Greenwood; two brothers, John E. Smith of Cross Hill and Willie K. Smith of Columbia; and a grandson.
Services will be at 2 Thursday at St. Vaughnville Baptist Church, Chappells.
Childs Funeral Home is in charge.

Sue B. Nelson

LAURENS — Susan “Sue” Bedenbaugh Nelson, 81, of 100 Pine St., widow of James Franklin Nelson, passed away Sept. 3, 2000, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Ada Adams Bedenbaugh. She was a homemaker and a member of Central United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Nelson of Fort Worth, Texas , and Rick Nelson of Laurens; a sister, Rose Harris of Laurens; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 3 Wednesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Billy Ray Osborne and the Rev. Randy Williams.
Visitation is after the service.
The family is at the home of a son, Rick Nelson, 104 Laurensview Drive.
Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, c/o Lucille Erskine, 439 Hurtsdale Road, Clinton, S.C. 29325.

W.R. ‘Raz’ Staggs

NINETY SIX — William R. “Raz” Staggs, 86, of 205 Park St., husband of Elizabeth Robertson Staggs, passed away Sept. 5, 2000, at Self Memorial Hospital.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Mozelle H. Walker

ABBEVILLE — Services for Mozelle E. Walker will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brown and Walker Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Isaac Booker III. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are friends of the family.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Betty Wright, 110 Rock House Circle, Abbeville.
Brown and Walker Funeral Home is in charge.

Infant Shakia Childs

GREENWOOD — Shakia Beactrice Childs, infant daughter of Leon Wells and Mary Ann Childs, passed away Sept. 6, 2000.
Survivors include her father of Atlanta; her mother of 118 Weimer Circle, Greenwood; a brother, Jemal Scott of the home; a sister, Tiffany Scott of the home; maternal grandparents, Mary B. Childs of Greenwood and James W. Childs of Greenwood; maternal great-grandfather, Clarence Davis of Greenwood; paternal great-grandmother, Gertrude Jones of Greenwood.
The family is at 518 Parkland Place, Greenwood.
Services will be announced by Robinson and Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

Jerry Lee Cryder

ELBERTON, Ga. — Jerry Lee Cryder, 52, of 1715 Meadowbrook Lane, husband of Jean Herlong Cryder, passed away Sept. 4, 2000, at his home.
Born in Elberton, he was a son of Mae Belle Scott Cryder and the late Glenn Cryder. He was a retired mental health director from the State of Georgia and had a private psychotherapy practice. He was a member of The Elberton First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, and was a member of the Northeast Georgia Umpire Association.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother of Elberton; a daughter, Jessica Cryder of Elberton; two sons, Jeff Cryder and Jeremy Cryder, both of Elberton; a sister, Joyce Cooksy of Chicago; two brothers, Haynes Cryder of Conyers, Ga., and Terry Lee Cryder of Douglasville, GA.
Services will be at 4:20 Thursday at The Elberton First Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. C.E. Jackson III. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Larry Siefferman, Alan Vaughter, Connie Ivester, Dennis Glaude, Bill Palmer, Winter Giddings, Merrill Franklin and Cecil Hudson.
Honorary escorts are deacons of the church.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Family Life Center of The Elberton First Baptist Church, Elberton, Ga.

RIDGE SPRING — Ellis Haltiwanger, 59, passed away Sept. 3, 2000.
Born in Gilbert, he was a son of Ethel Lytes Haltiwanger and the late Alex Haltiwanger.
Survivors include his mother; a son, Wesley Haltiwanger; six daughters, Charlene Robinson, Annette Cannon, Tammy Haltiwanger, Becky Haltiwanger, Keyna Haltiwanger and Kawanna Haltiwanger; two brothers, Edwin Haltiwanger and Jimmy Haltiwanger; and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at R.O. Levy Funeral Home, with burial in Harris Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Billie Haynes

GREENWOOD — Billie Elizabeth Rice Haynes, of 4718 Old Laurens Highway, passed away Sept. 5, 2000, at Florence Convalescence Home.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Fleming E. and Mary Ellen Chapman Rice. She retired from Nantex, where she worked for 45 years. She was a member of Grace Community Church and was reared in the Catholic Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Cherry of Dudley, Ga., and Susan Jayne Borja of Dalton, Ga.; two sons, David Eugene Haynes of Abbeville and William C. “Sonny” Haynes Jr. of Greenwood; a sister, Doris Bryant of Spartanburg; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3:30 Friday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Rod Schultz. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Roger McAlister, Randy McAlister, Jason McAlister, Jimmy McAlister, Frank Hozey, Kenny McElroy and Danny Waits.
Honorary escorts are Dr. Oliver Willard and Dr. Fred Robinson.
Visitation is from 6-8 Thursday at the funeral home.

GREENWOOD — Mary Roylyn Hitt, 55, of 221 Circle Drive, wife of Carlton Lamar Hitt, passed away Sept. 4, 2000, at her home.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Estella Freeland Leavell. She was a Greenwood High School graduate and a distributor of The Index-Journal for the last 18 years.
Survivors include her husband of the home; three daughters, Teressa Lynn Grigg, Karen Denise Hitt and Gail Hitt, all of Greenwood; a son, Michael Lamar Hitt of Greenwood; three sisters, Barbara Goldman and Helen Setzler, both of Greenwood and Nelva Herring of Aiken.
Services will be at 2 Thursday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Billy Reynolds. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are George Leavelle Goldman, Pete Herring, Drue Gambrell, Steve Grigg, Ted Davenport and Marshall Manley.
Honorary escorts are David Herring, Clarence Latham, John Phillips and Ed Jones.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Caroline Motes Rasor

CROSS HILL — Caroline Motes Rasor, 96, of Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center, Laurens, formerly of Cross Hill, widow of Jake Rasor Sr., passed away Sept. 5, 2000, at the Martha Franks Infirmary.
Born in Mountville, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Hogan Motes Sr. and Rosa Lee Fuller Motes. She was a former teacher in Mountville and Cross Hill, a member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood and the WMU, and a Sunbeam leader.
Survivors include a son, Jake Rasor Jr. of Cross Hill; a brother, W. Fuller Motes of Mountville; three grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Liberty Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Cross Hill, with a memorial service at Mountville Baptist Church at 11:30.
Visitation is from 6-8:30 tonight at the home of her son, Jake Rasor Jr., 100 Woodbine Road, Lake Greenwood.
A memorial service will be held at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center at a later dale.
Gray Funeral Home, Laurens, is in charge.
