ELBERTON, Ga. — Corinne Fagan Guest, 84, of Heardmont Nursing Home, widow of Dillard Guest, passed away April 21, 2001.
Born in Elbert County, she was a daughter of the late Eulis and Bertha Lovern Fagan. She was a pianist and choir director at Gordon Street and Frances Asbury United Methodist churches.
She retired as a seamstress and from Elberton Manufacturing.
Survivors include two brothers, E.L. Fagan of Greenwood, S.C., and Marvin Fagan of Plum Branch, S.C.
Services will be at 3:30 Tuesday at Hicks Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Jim Spooner and Roy Major. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
Hicks Funeral Home is in charge.

Yolanda Valnita Jennings
GREENWOOD — Yolanda Valnita “Lon” Jennings, 19, of 126 Savayo Drive, passed away April 22, 2001, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of Rufus and Valerie Aull Jennings. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School class of 2000 and a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, where she was a choir member and a Sunday school secretary.
Survivors include her parents of the home; a sister, Vanessa Arlena Jennings of the home; a maternal grandmother, Izola Spearman Aull of Greenwood; paternal grandparents, Robert L. Jennings of Troy and Ruby Acree of Washington , Ga.; and a step-grandmother, Pearlina W. Jennings of Troy.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. Annette Edwards, assisted by the Revs. Phillip Anderson, Beulah Reagin and Robin Harris and Bishop Robert L. Attaway. The body will be placed in the church at 10. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Andull Anderson, Howard Anthony Aull, James Edward Jennings, Ricky Jennings, Mike Reeder and John Lynn Spearman.
Flower bearers are cousins.
Honorary escorts are members of Greenwood High School Class of 2000.
Visitation is tonight at the home of Izola S. Aull, 711 Clem Road.

Terry L. ‘Sawmill’ Martin
WARE SHOALS — Services for Terry L. “Sawmill” Martin, of 40 N. Greenwood Ave., will be at 2 Tuesday at Rose of Sharon Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev Frank Hardy. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial will be in Evening Star Memorial Gardens, Greenwood.
Visitation is at the home and at the home of a sister, Dolly Anderson, 109 Wheat Drive, Greenwood.
Viewing will be after 3 today at Robinson-Walker Funeral Service.
Robinson-Walker Funeral Service is in charge.

Martha McDuffie
GREENWOOD — Martha McDuffie, of 215 Mathis Road, passed away April 22, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Parks Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Lillie Mercer
GREENWOOD — Lillie Carroll Mercer, 94, of 310 Smyth St., widow of Amos Mercer, passed away April 22, 2001, at her home.
Born in McCormick County, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Mamie Blake Carroll. She retired from Abney Mills, Grendel Plant, and graduated from Piedmont Technical College as a nursing aid. She did private-duty nursing at Greenwood Methodist Home. A member of Durst Avenue Church of God, she was also a member of the Florence Hughes Sunday School Class.
Survivors include three daughters, Ruby M. Reeves and Annette M. Avery, both of Greenwood and Juanita M. Roach of Westminster; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Tuesday at Blyth Funeral Home, with the Revs. Richard Earl Porterfield and James Boling officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are grandsons and great-grandsons.
Honorary escorts are members of the Senior Saints Sunday School Class of Greenwood Baptist Church.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.

GREENWOOD — Wayne T. Mills, 48, of 233 E. Cambridge St., passed away April 21, 2001, at his home.
Born in Aiken, he was a drywall finisher.
Survivors include his parents, Harold and Sandra Mills of Thomson, Ga.; a daughter, Kelly Mills Brown of Greenwood; a brother, Geoffrey Mills of Phoenix City, Ala.; six sisters, Cindy Hill of Columbia, Charlotte Mills of Piedmont, Alana Godwin of Ackworth, Ga., Teresa Beatty and Michele Minton, both of Thomson and Paula Barr of Capac, Mich.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Curtis Funeral home, Thomson, Ga., conducted by Dr. Ron Drawdy. Burial will be at 3 Tuesday in Travis Park Cemetery, Saluda.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Curtis Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of Harold and Sandra Mills, 218 Brentwood Drive, Thomson.

LOWNDESVILLE — Gaines Morrow, 87, of Bell Street, widower of Lizzie Mae Shaw Morrow, passed away April 22, 2001, at Magnolia Manor Health Care, Greenwood.

Jayne S. Vaughn
FORT MILL – Jayne Scott Vaughn, 58, of 217 Manor House Mill, wife of Larry Vaughn, April 22, 2001, at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill.
Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late James Murray and Frances Turner Scott. She was a dental assistant with Dr. Adams and was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Doug Vaughn of Columbia; three sisters, Mrs. Billy (Martha) Hoole of Greenwood, Jackie Bright of El Dorado Hills, Calif., and Mrs. Charlie (Jamie) Johnson of Thurmont, Md.; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 3 Tuesday in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, Greenwood, with Dr. J. William Harris officiating.
Honorary escorts are Blake Vaughn, Rhett Vaughn, Jason Johnson, Chuck Camp and Travis Dudley.
The family is at the home of her sister, Martha Hoole, 112 Pucketts Cove, Greenwood.

GREENWOOD — Mildred W. Byrd, 80, of 21 Royal Oak Drive, wife of Marvin Byrd, passed away April 24, 2001, at her home.
Born in Easley, she was a daughter of the late William Harvey and Ella Inez Wyatt Welborn. She graduated from Anderson College and Winthrop College and taught school at Jonesville and Guantonomo Bay. She was secretary for Spartanburg County schools and secretary for Cambridge Pharmacy, Nos. 1 and 2, and Laurens Plaza Drugs. She was a member of the Greenwood Woman’s Club and St. Mark United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Jimmy (Marilyn) Gobble of Greenwood; two sisters, Ella Mae Hendrix of Anderson and Alice Gentry of Inman; a brother, Harvey Welborn of Greenville; two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 Thursday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Ken Timmerman. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 6-7:30 Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Marilyn Gobble, 119 Overbrook Drive.

Mattie Lee Parnell Carlisle
ABBEVILLE - Mrs. Mattie Lee Parnell Carlisle, age 93, of Abbeville, S.C., passed away Monday, April 23, 2001, in Self Memorial Hospital, S.C.
Mrs. Carlisle was born in Lowndesville, S.C., a daughter of the late Henry Grady and Annie Mae Broadwell Parnell. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lowndesville Baptist Church.
She was the widow of Harold Lander Carlisle, Sr.
She is survived by her son, John Robert and wife, Jerry Frady Carlisle of Lyman, S.C.; her son, Boyce Henry and wife, Connie Monroe Carlisle of Calhoun Falls, S.C.; her son, Carlton Eugene Carlisle of Lowndes-ville, S.C.; one sister, Dessie Jo Parnell Green of Columbia, S.C.; eight grand-children; fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Harold Lander Carlisle, Jr.; an infant daughter, Dorothy Joyce Carlisle; one grandson and one grand-daughter.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the chapel of the Calhoun Falls Funeral Home, with Rev. Virgil Manning and Rev. Fred Griggs officiating. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery, Lowndesville, S.C.
Pallbearers will be Mark Shuler, Steve Mann, George Broadwell, Boyd Purdy, Aaron Parnell and Franklin Parnell.
Honorary pallbearers will be William Broadwell, Clyde Broadwell and Wayne Broadwell.
The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends one hour before the service.

Ruby Mae Gary
CALHOUN FALLS — Ruby Mae Buffington Gary, 78, of 610 Anderson St., passed away April 23, 2001, at her home.
Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Earley and Daisey Gibson Buffington. She was a retired spinner in the textile industry and a member of the Church of God. Survivors include a daughter, Tonie Tiedeman of Calhoun Falls; three sisters, Mary Bowman and Carrie Gary, both of Calhoun Falls and Ann Alexander of Abbeville; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Wednesday at Calhoun Falls Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Virgil Manning and the Rev. Sidney Tedder. Burial will be in Iva Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
Calhoun Falls Funeral Home is in charge.

Thomas Goode Jr.
GREENWOOD — Thomas Goode Jr., 66, of 409-A Milwee, husband of Mimmie Lee Holloway Goode, passed away April 24, 2001, at his home.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Thomas and Flossie Mosley Goode Sr. Retired from Lander University, he worked for The Index-Journal and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of Philadelphia; two sons, Thomas Jeffery Ligon and Damon Lamont Ligon, both of Greenwood; a daughter, Linda Elaine Goode of Greenwood; two stepdaughters, Mary Ann Adams and Cathy Pinkney, both of Greenwood; two brothers, David Goode of Greenwood and T.J. Goode of Fort Myers, Fla.; two sisters, Nell Goode Martin and Harriet Phelps, both of Greenwood; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home of a sister, Harriet Phelps, 418 E. Cambridge Ave.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.
