Mary Lillian Metts Setzler
WHITMIRE - Mary Lillian Metts Setzler, age 86 and the widow of Francis Marion Setzler passed away Wednesday, April 4th in the Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
She was born in Newberry and was a daughter of the late Daniel Rufus and Mary Novice Metts.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frank M. and Bobbie Setzler, both of Greenwood; one sister, Christine Cockrell of Greenwood; three stepbrothers, Duane Metts and Marvin Metts of Jacksonville, FL; and J.R. Cannon of Prosperity; predeceased by a stepmother, Lillie Slice Metts; and two brothers, Cecil Metts and Effice Metts. She is survived by two grandchildren, Fran Ellenberg and Brad Setzler of Greenwood.
Private graveside services were conducted Thursday, April 5th in the Whitmire Cemetery.
The family will be at the home of her son, Frank Setzler, 106 Stratton Terrace, Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Building Fund of North Side Baptist Church, North Side Dr., Greenwood, S.C. 29646 or the First Baptist Church of Whitmire, Glenn St., Whitmire, S.C. 29178.

James D. Cunningham Sr.
CLINTON — James Duvall “Jim” Cunningham Sr., 82, of 649 Leesville Church Road, widower of Mary Lee Holtzclaw Cunningham, passed away April 7, 2001, at Laurens County Hospital.
Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Robert Turner and Estelle Benjamin Cunningham. He retired from Torrington Bearing Co. He was a mason and a member of Campbell Lodge No. 44 and a lifelong member of Rocky Springs Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Alivee C. Bailey and Linda C. Ficklin, both of Clinton; a son, Duvall Cunningham of Clinton; a brother, Robert L. Cunningham of Greenwood, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister.
Services will be at 3 Monday at Rocky Springs Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Revs. Tom Malone and David Bonner. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Kennedy Mortuary, Laurens.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Rocky Springs Presbyterian Church, 1230 Rocky Springs Church Road, Laurens, SC 29360.

Ida Longshore Martin
NEWBERRY — Ida Longshore Martin, 100, formerly of 1619 Calhoun St., Newberry, widow of Frank W. Martin, passed away Friday, April 6, 2001 at the Saluda Nursing Center.
Mrs. Martin was born in Newberry County, a daughter of the late Wilson E. and Henrietta Morse Longshore. Mrs. Martin was a retired employee of Damon International. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher and member of the WMU. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and was a Past President of the Amalgamated Garment Workers of America, Newberry Chapter.
Mrs. Martin is survived by three daughters, Betty M. Conelly of Silverstreet, Patricia M. Cameron of Saluda, and Ruth M. Ausband of Myrtle Beach; two sisters, Dorothy L. Satterwhite and Sara L. Suber both of Newberry, 25 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two daughters, Emily M. Corley and Etta M. Benson and four sons, Francis Martin, Marion Martin, Sherod Martin, and James Martin, a granddaughter, Rita M. Kurth, and two grandsons, Carroll Martin and F. Scott Martin Jr.
Funeral services for Ida Longshore Martin will be conducted at 2:30 PM Monday at the First Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Ken Harmon and the Rev. Douglas Martin. Interment will be in Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 4:30 PM Sunday at the Whitaker Funeral Home. The family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. David Dorroh, 1207 Fair St., Newberry.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 1020 Boundary St., Newberry SC 29108 or to the Saluda Nursing Center, PO Box 398, Saluda, SC 29138.

Gladys Robins
ABBEVILLE — Gladys Robins, 94, of Adrian, Mich., widow of Fred Robins, passed away April 5, 2001.
Born in Bradley, she was a daughter of the late Henry A. and Mattie Lou Hinton Richey. She was a registered nurse, having graduated from The Crawford Long Hospital School of Nursing, Atlanta. She was a life long member of the Adrian’s Womans Club, a member of the Adrian Chapter No. 112 Order of the Eastern Star and a member the Adrian First United Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Rosalie R. Starr and Margaret R. Campbell, both of Jacksonville Beach, Fla. and Statia R. “Billie” Hagen of Abbeville.
She was preceded in death by her husband and three sons.
Services will be Monday in Adrian, Mich.

William Wayne Wood
BATESBURG — William Wayne Wood, 53, of Spann Road, passed away April 6, 2001.
Born in Batesburg, he was a son of Julia Mae Duncan Wood and the late Leonard Leroy Wood Sr. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church, worked as a lab technician for J.M. Heber Corp. and served in the Army. He also worked with the sound system and recording for The Chapel.
Survivors include his mother of Batesburg; a daughter, Noelle Wood of Saluda; three brothers, Kenneth Wood Sr. of Batesburg, Leroy Wood Jr. and Olin Wood, both of Aiken.
Services will be at 3 today at Clydes Chapel Southern Methodist Church, conducted by the Revs. Fletcher Rawls and John Griffith. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Koon, Jonathan Alewine, Larry Anderson, Angus Hall, Tim Sinnott, William “Brother” Bedenbaugh, Billy Hall and Charles Bedenbaugh.
The family will be at the home of his mother, Route 3, Batesburg.
Memorials may be made to the Dorn VA Medical Center, 6439 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia SC 29209 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Sara Brown Zimmerman
McCORMICK — Sara Brown Zimmerman, 95, passed away April 5, 2001, at McCormick Health Care Center.
Born in McCormick, she was a daughter of the late Wade and Mamie Brown. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Moses Zimmerman of Greenville, Edward Zimmerman of McCormick, Grant Zimmerman of Spartanburg and Robert Zimmerman of Salt Lake City, Fla.; a daughter, Ellen Robertson of Johnston; a sister Ms. Eunice Hughey of McCormick; eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 Monday at the New Hope Baptist Church, McCormick, conducted by the Revs. J.C. Williams and Isaac Barnwell. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon Monday.
Pallbearers are nephews.
The family is at the home of a grandson, Claude Robertson, Route 2, McCormick.

Elizabeth L. ‘Babe’ Greene
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Elizabeth Lydia “Babe” Greene, formerly of Edgefield, S.C., wife of Roger Greene, passed away Aug. 6, 2001, in Washington .
She was a daughter of the late Burl and Liela Canty Key.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Linda Greene of Washington , D.C.; a son, Carlton Ross of Washington , D.C.; a sister, Wilma Ruth Wardlaw of Greenwood, S.C.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be conducted Tuesday at United Church of Jesus Christ, 7901 16th St. N.W.

Zingo Eugene Kelly
McCORMICK — Zingo Eugene Kelly, 59, husband of Monico Gambrel Kelly, passed away Aug. 9, 2001, in McCormick.
Born in McCormick, he was a son of Henrietta Terry Kelly and the late Gonzie Lee Kelly. A graduate of Mims High School and a licensed building contractor, he was a member of Zion Chapel A.M.E. Church, where he served on the Steward Board.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother of McCormick; a daughter, Mrs. Jesse (Gena) Kelly Wideman of McCormick; three sons, Kent Jason Kelly, Kevin Daryl Kelly and Kendell Kelly, all of McCormick; a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Linda) Quiller of McCormick; a brother, Frank Kelly of Fairfax, Va.; and seven grandchildren.
The family is at the home, Highway 28 North.
Services will be announced by Walker Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Marjorie Robinson
DONALDS — Marjorie Washington Robinson, 76, of 305 Mock Orange Road, widow of Wilbur Robinson, passed away Aug. 7, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Marie Harper Smith and was reared by the late Nathan and Ada B. Washington . She graduated from Abbeville County public schools and attended Bennett College, Greensboro, N.C. A member of Dunn Creek Baptist Church, she served as chairperson of the Deaconess Board, a Sunday School teacher, senior choir leader and a member of the Women’s Missionary Circle No. 3. Along with her husband, she was a founder and co-owner of Robinson Funeral Service, Ware Shoals. She was a licensed funeral director and a former member of the South Carolina Morticians Association.
Survivors include a son, Henry S. Robinson of the home; and a granddaughter.
Services will be conducted at 2 Saturday at Dunn Creek Baptist Church by the Revs. James Davis III, Deloris Henderson and Johnny Henderson. Burial is in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon.
Visitation is from 7-8 tonight at Robinson-Walker Funeral Service. The family is at the home.

GREENWOOD — Frances Range Treadway, 75, formerly of 105 Hampton Road, widow of Carl E. Treadway, passed away Aug. 9, 2001, at Rolling Green Village in Greenville.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home, which is in charge.

J.C. Turner
GREENWOOD — J.C. Turner, 82, of 127 Circular Ave., widower of Josephine Martin Turner, passed away Aug. 10, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Charlie and Cora Conner Turner. He was a retired landscaper for L.D. Adams and a member of Glovers Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Leroy Turner of the home; two daughters, Betty Gilchrist of Greenwood and Alice Wilson of the home; two brothers, William Turner of Greenwood and Sammy Turner of Promised Land; two sisters, Josephine Martin of Greenwood and Rosa Parker of Promised Land; 13 grandchildren, two reared in the home, April Covington and Briana Thompson; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

Harold ‘Pop’ Uldrick
ABBEVILLE — Harold Emory “Pop” Uldrick, 86, of 810 S.C. Highway 201, husband of Elsie Stamps Uldrick, passed away Aug. 8, 2001, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Thomas Franklin and Hattie Cochran Uldrick. He was owner and operator of Uldrick’s Grocery and a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, James F. Uldrick and Owen E. Uldrick, both of Abbeville; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harris Funeral Home by the Revs. George Busch and Charles Champion. Burial is in Long Cane Cemetery.
Pallbearers are grandsons: Ken Uldrick, Roger Uldrick, Mark Uldrick, Heath Uldrick, Dan Uldrick and grandson-in-law, Alan Boatwright.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of a son, Owen Uldrick, 800 Highway 201.
