GREENWOOD — Pearlie Williams passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Self Regional Healthcare.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

Lilly Arline
GREENWOOD - Lilly Dowtin Arline, 92, resident of 1110 Marshall Road, widow of Marion Keymon Arline, passed away December 11, 2001 at Wesley Commons.
Born in McCormick County, August 12, 1909, she was a daughter of the late William Watson and Mary Mathis Dowtin. She was a graduate of Limestone College Class of 1930 and received her Master's Degree from the University of Arkansas. She retired from teaching in the public school system of Little Rock, AR. Mrs. Arline formerly served as a tutor with the Greenwood Literacy Council.
She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and the Lawton Sunday School Class of the church. She was active in the Delta Kappa Gamma Fraternity in both Little Rock and Greenwood.
Surviving are a brother, William W. Dowtin, Jr. of Whitefish, MT; nieces, Virginia K. Epps of Ninety Six and Elizabeth D. Meche of Ft. Collins, CO; nephews, Robert M. Kerr of Lexington and William W. Dowtin, III of Whitefish, MT; great-nieces and great-nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted 4PM Wednesday in the Troy Cemetery, Troy, SC with Rev. Carol Peppers-Wray officiating.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials made to the Troy Cemetery Association, PO Box 23, Troy, SC 29848.

Doris Hills
GREENWOOD — Doris Sickler Hills, 83, of 105 Haven Way, Wesley Commons, wife of Edwin J. Hills, passed away Dec. 11, 2001, at Self Regional Healthcare.
Born in Troy, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Harold M. and Jennie Jarrard Sickler. She graduated from the University of Kentucky and received a master’s degree from Albany State University, Albany, N.Y. She retired from Mechanicville High School, Mechanicville, N.Y., and served two terms on the Mechanicville School Board. A member of the United Methodist Church in Mechanicville, she was also a member of the Philomathian Book Club.
Survivors include her husband of the home; and a brother, George H. Sickler of Greenwood.
Memorial services will be at a later date in Mechanicville.
Memorials may be made to Wesley Commons, 1110 Marshall Road, Greenwood, S.C. 29646 or to a charity of one’s choice.

Pressley Morton Jr.
GREENWOOD — Pressley “Press” Morton Jr., 74, of 225 W. Creswell Ave., husband of Lena “Pipway” Phelps Morton, passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at Self Regional Healthcare.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Pressley and Julian S. Morton Sr. He served in the Army during World War II, attended Greenwood County schools and joined Mount Moriah Baptist Church. He retired from Nantex (Greenwood Industries).
Survivors include his wife of the home; his children, Calvin Phelps Morton, Joel Phelps Morton, Loretta Phelps, Joe Phelps, Margaret J. Thompson, Brenda M. Christia and Clarence Edward Morton, all of Greenwood, Pandora Phelps Johnson of North Augusta, Ernest Phelps Morton of Charlotte, N.C., Mitzi Phelps Edwards of Greenville, Julia M. Moore of Abbeville, Lolitia Randolph of Greensboro, N.C. and Albert Pressley Morton of Aiken; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services are at 3 Thursday at Robinson & Son Mortuary, with Bishop Ethel M. Talbert-Spearman officiating. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are nephews and friends.
Flower bearers are granddaughters, nieces and friends.
The family is at the home.

Pearlie M. Williams
GREENWOOD — Pearlie M. Cullens Williams, of 1548 Parkway Drive, Apt. 3-A, passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Self Regional Healthcare.
She was a daughter of the late Elder D. and Lillie Mae Scott Cullens.
Survivors include her husband, Leroy Williams of Virginia; a brother, Robert Cullens of Atlanta; and two sisters, Doris Cullens of Hollywood, Fla., and Lula Cullens Hollansyde of Bronx, N.Y.
The family is at the home of Jessie Williams, 1548 Parkway Drive, Building 7-B.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

L.E. Coile
COMER, Ga. — Mrs. L.E. Dixon Coile, 82, widow of Joe Alson Coile, of 2228 Transco Road, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Comer Health Care Center.
Born in Elbert County, she was a daughter of the late John H. and Drucie Mae Lunsford Dixon. She was a homemaker and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Mike A. Coile of Comer; eight brothers, Joe Thomas Dixon, John Wesley Dixon and Wilburn Dixon, all of Greenwood, S.C., Glenn Dixon of Elberton, Frank Dixon, Ralph Dixon and Gene A. Dixon, all of Comer and Doris C. Dixon of Danielsville; and two sisters, Jeanette Coile of Comer and Bessie Ruth Simmons of Danielsville.
Services are at 3 Friday at Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, conducted by the Revs. Darvin Cash and Clint Harper. Burial is in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of a daughter-in-law, Karen Atkinson Coile, 2318 Transco Road.

Gladys B. Irwin
GREENWOOD — Gladys Babb Irwin, 91, of 2117 Highway 221 S., formerly of Jackson, Tenn., widow of George Clay Irwin, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Self Regional Healthcare.
Born in Hardeman County, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Wilford and Hannah Elizabeth Gibson Babb. She was the retired owner of Gladys’ Beauty Shop, Jackson, and a member of Toone Baptist Church, Toone, Tenn. She was also a member of First Mount Moriah Baptist Church and the Estelle McDaniel Sunday School Class of the church.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Irwin of Greenwood; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Irwin of Greenwood; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services are at 3 Friday at First Mount Moriah Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Fred Smith.
Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are members of the Men’s Bible Class of the church.
Visitation is in the church social hall after the services.
The family is at the home.

Emma Lee Jenkins
TOWNVILLE — Emma Lee W. Jenkins, 99, passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001.
Born in Townville, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Martha Haney Whitner. She was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Laura Benton and Magnolia Haynes, both of Philadelphia and Marie Lee of Anderson; two sons, Harold Jenkins of Flint, Mich., and Fostell Jenkins of Townville; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Saturday at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, Townville, with burial in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Viewing is from 12-8 today at Abbeville & White Mortuary, Abbeville and from 10-8 Friday at Foggie’s Funeral Home, Anderson.

Nelva Koryta
COLUMBUS, N.C. — Nelva Ruth Foulkes Koryta, 79, of Morgan Chapel Village, widow of Leonard Koryta, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at her home.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Samuel E. and Nelva Kohlas Foulkes. She and her husband moved to Columbus 15 years ago, and she did volunteer work at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was a member of the Columbus Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Survivors include a brother, Elmer Foulkes of Liberty, S.C.
Memorial services are at 1:30 Saturday, Dec. 15, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Columbus. A nephew, Donald W. Foulkes, and Robert Thompson will officiate.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, N.C. 28782.

Fannie Mae Watts
GREENWOOD — Fannie Mae Watts, 76, of 714 Taggart St., widow of Charlie Watts, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at Self Regional Healthcare.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late James and Ella Moragne Reed. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include six sons, Rufus Kemp of Hodges, James Reed of Los Angeles, Charles Watts and Henry Watts, both of Greenwood, Sam Watts of Charlotte, N.C., and Otis Simpson of Asheville, N.C.; an adopted son, James “Smitty” Smith of Greenwood; three daughters, Ella Mae Williams-Bonds, Shirley Ann Cunningham and Daisy Watts Rucker, all of Greenwood; two brothers, Jesse T. Wright of Greenwood and Mack Reed of Anderson; a sister, Ruth Wright Hudson of Asheville; 26 grandchildren, two reared in the home, Gerald Lee Watts and Sedrick Arnette; 28 great-grandchildren, one reared in the home, Kenneth Reed; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 1 Friday at Macedonia Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Willie S. Harrison. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are sons, and flower bearers are granddaughters.
There will be no viewing.
The family is at the home.

Ruth Woodcock
DUE WEST — Ruth Dodson Woodcock, 80, formerly of No. 1 Anderson St., widow of James L. “Woody” Woodcock, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Carlisle Nursing Center.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Furman “Pug” and Ida Brock Dodson. She was a homemaker. A member of Due West A.R.P. Church, she served as treasurer of the Ladies Bible Class and was a member of Circle No. 5. She was also a member of the Gideons Auxiliary.
Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie W. Whaley of Abbeville and Margaret W. “Peggy” Harrison of Greenwood; a sister, Margaret Dodson Milford of Abbeville; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 today at Due West A.R.P Church, conducted by the Rev. Calvin Draffin and Dr. James Bell. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 1-2 today at the church.
Memorials may be made to Due West Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 517, Due West, S.C. 29639 or Wylie Care Facility, 16 Frank Y. Pressly Drive, Due West, S.C. 29639.

GREENWOOD - James Robert Butler, 76, of Edgefield Health Care Center and formerly of 726 Truett Street, husband of Susie Tullis Butler, passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at Edgefield County Hospital.
Born in McCormick, he was a son of the late James Oscar and Sudie Wideman Butler. He was retired from Greenwood Mills, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club and was US Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a mason and was a member of First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Wayne "BoBo" Butler and two brothers, Leonard Butler and Howard Butler.
Surviving is his wife; a daughter, Mary B. Rice of Greenwood; three sons, William Marion "Bill" Butler of Hodges, John Michael "Mike" Butler of Ninety Six, and Charles Earl "Chuck" Butler of Greenwood; a sister, Sue Finch of Ninety Six; four brothers, David Butler and J. D. Butler, both of Greenwood, Claude Butler of Troy and Jimmy Butler of Hilton Head; five grandchildren, Kenneth Britton "Britt" Rice, Joseph James "Joey" Butler, William Christopher "Chris" Butler, Mary Susan "SuSu" Butler, and Robert Ernest Butler, and six great-grandchildren. Nancy Hanke of Greenwood was raised in the home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Fred Smith officiating. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons.
Honorary escort will be members of the Men's Bible Class of First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church along with James L. Cothran, Kyle Hanke, and John "Shine" Thomas.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
The family is at the home of his son, Bill Butler, 4704 Highway 246 North, Hodges.

Floyd F. Helm
NINETY SIX — Floyd F. “The Alaskan” Helm, 73, of 215 Watts Bridge Road, husband of PacitaDomo Helm, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001, at Self Regional Healthcare.
Born in Louisville, Ky., he was a son of the late Floyd F. and Emily Brown Bohn Helm. He lived in Alaska for 24 years before moving to Ninety Six, and he was co-owner of B & F Inc. Small Engine Repair. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict, a member of the Emerald City Rotary Club and a master gardener.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Patricia Wiedeman of Apopka, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Ridings of Memphis, Tenn., and Norma Hamberg of Port Orange, Fla.; four brothers, Roger Helm of Louisville, Raymond Helm of Rockford, Ill., David Helm of Georgia and Ronald Helm of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandsons and a great-granddaughter.
Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Earl McCombs.
The family is at the home.
