HODGES — Odell Posley, 54, of 901 Nation Road, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of Caper Posley and the late Mattie Corine Burkes Posley. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church. A Vietnam War veteran, he served in the National Guard Army Reserves.
Survivors include his father of Hodges; a daughter, Crystal Posley of Greenwood; two sisters, Diane Daniels of Greenwood and Callie R. Taylor of Springfield, Mass.; and a grandchild.
The family is at the home of his father, 815 Nation Road.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, Greenwood, which is in charge.

Bessie Scott
GREENWOOD — Bessie Jane Revels Scott, 84, formerly of 105 Brissie St., widow of Horace Scott, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at the National Health Care Center.
Born in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late Jim and Dora Cash Revels. She retired from Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant, where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was a member of Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Argo of Abbeville; three sisters, Lilly Bell Crocker, Lula Mae Tennyson and Louise Morris, all of Spartanburg; two brothers, Odell Revels of Spartanburg and Gerald Revels of Greenwood; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 today at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Eldon Tucker and the Rev. Ray Massey. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Phil Pierce, Lyndsey Baker, Horace Blackstone, Albert Schrimp, Gerald Martin and Scott Argo.
Visitation is at the funeral home from 12:30-2 today.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Patricia Argo, 105 Moore St., Abbeville.
Memorials may be made to HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, S.C. 29646 or to a charity of one’s choice.

‘Simp’ Simpson
GREENWOOD — Marshall “Simp” Simpson, 84, of 302 Parker St., husband of Jewell Rooks Simpson, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2001, at his home.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Clyde and Willie Maddox Simpson. He retired from Parke-Davis and was a World War II Army veteran. He was a member of Grendel Pentecostal Holiness Church and the Adult Sunday School Class of the church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sisters, Sarah Jones of Ninety Six and Doris Dorn of Greenwood; and a brother, Cecil Simpson of Greenwood.
Services are at 4 today at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. James Tollison and the Rev. Shane Cox. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Wade Norton, Jimmy Carruth, Troy Cox, Ricky Bowie, John Cox and Roy Dukes.
Visitation is from 3-4 today at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Grendel Pentecostal Holiness Church Building Fund, 435 E. Durst Ave., Greenwood, S.C. 29649.

T.D. Swails
NINETY SIX — Therian David “T.D.” Swails, 80, of 121 Kate Fowler Road, widower of Thelma Hooks Swails, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at his home.
Born in Williamsburg County, he was a son of the late Taylor McDonald and Sudie Barwick Swails. He retired in 1983 from Monsanto (now Solutia) and was a Navy veteran of World War II, where he served on the USS Cowpens and was a member of the Reunion Association. He was a member of Eureka Lodge No. 96 A.F.M. and Ninety Six Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder and deacon.
Survivors include two daughters, Robin Williams of Rock Hill and the Rev. Terri Swails of Spring Church, Pa.; two sisters, Bonnie Webb of Rockingham, N.C., and Etta Gillis of Gaffney; a brother, Paul Swails of Rockingham; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services are at 2 Friday in Richmond County Memorial Park, Rockingham, N.C., conducted by the Rev. John Alexander.
A memorial service will be at 2 Saturday at Ninety Six Presbyterian Church.
Visitation is from 12:30-1:30 Friday at Watson-King Funeral Home, Rockingham.

Marshall Voiselle
NINETY SIX — J. Marshall Voiselle, 86, of 114 Liberty St., husband of Jeanette Riser Voiselle, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Claude and Della Duncan Voiselle. He was a former employee of Greenwood Mills, retiring from Abney Mills-Grendel Plant. He was a member of Cambridge United Methodist Church and the Men’s Sunday School Class of the church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, William M. “Bill” Voiselle of Ninety Six; three brothers, William “Bill” Voiselle, James “Jim” Voiselle and Claude “Diz” Voiselle, all of Ninety Six; four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 3 Thursday at Blyth Funeral Home, Greenwood, conducted by the Rev. Joey McDonald and the Rev. Louie Murray. Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Willingham, Wendell Voiselle, Victor Voiselle, John Voiselle, Rex Voiselle, Bob Voiselle, Larry Jones, Ken Voiselle and Billy Gillion.
Honorary escorts are the men of Cambridge United Methodist Church, along with James Gillian, Robbie Moore, Wesley Pilkenton and Dr. Walter Clarke.
Visitation is from 2-3 Thursday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of Bill and Kay Voiselle, 109 Saco St.

Leroy Anderson Sr.
WILMINGTON, Del. — Leroy “Pop-Pop” Anderson Sr., 73, husband of Bertha L. Anderson, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at his home.
Born in Hodges, S.C., he was a son of the late John Anderson and Lula Butler-Anderson. He was educated in South Carolina and worked for various companies in Delaware, retiring from N.V.F. He also owned a janitorial business.
Survivors include his wife; five children, Leroy Anderson Jr. of Connecticut and Loretta L. Deshields, Marchella L. Anderson, Linda D. Anderson and Lisa D. Henry, all of Delaware; two brothers, John Sr. of Philadelphia and Alponso Wade of New Jersey; three sisters, Ruth Smith of Greenwood, S.C., Verdell Anderson of Hodges, S.C., and Colease Williams of New Jersey; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted Dec. 14 at Bethel Pentecostal Church in Wilmington.
The House of Wright Mortuary was in charge.

Odell Posley
HODGES — Services for Odell Posley, of 901 Nation Road, are at 3 Friday at Good Hope Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Stanley Haltiwanger. The body will be placed in the church at 2. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are friends of the family.
The family is at the home of his father, Capers Posley, 851 Nation Road.

Alonzo Crosby Sr.
LONG ISLAND, N.Y. — Services for Alonzo Crosby Sr. are at 2 Saturday at St. James A.M.E. Church, Abbeville, S.C., conducted by the Rev. James E. Thompson and the Rev. Al Green. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Tabernacle Church Cemetery, Abbeville County.
The family will assemble at Brown and Walker Funeral Home, Abbeville, which is in charge.

Sallie Lomax Johnson
GREENWOOD — Sallie Lomax Johnson, 68, formerly of Watson Street, and formerly of 1215 E. Whitner St., Anderson, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001, at Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson.
She was the widow of George Edward Johnson.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late George and Samantha Baylor Lomax. She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, Abbeville County.
Survivors include two sons, John Robert Johnson and Edward Junior Johnson, both of Anderson; four sisters, Gertrude Lomax of Williamston, Mary Johnson of New York, Fannie McNeil and Winifred Craine, both of Baltimore; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family is at 1215 E. Whitner St., Anderson.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., Greenwood, which is in charge.

‘Cindy’ Hughes Simpson
CROSS HILL — Cynda “Cindy” B. Hughes Simpson, 79, of 11885 Highway 39, wife of Alex Simpson, passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at National Health Care of Clinton.
Born in Fountain Inn, she was a daughter of the late Duff and Maude Watson Hughes. She retired from the Clinton school system and was a member of the Eastern Star, the S.C. Teacher’s Association, the Mountville Grange and Liberty Springs Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; three sons, Wilford Simpson of Milton, Fla., Perry Simpson of Cross Hill and Bruce Simpson of Clinton; a daughter, Sue Forsyth of Cross Hill; a brother, Woody Hughes of Duncan; four sisters, Duffie Maddox of Fountain Inn, Doris Lawrence of Landrum, Maudelle Finley of Mountville and Sara Tripp of Travelers Rest; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Saturday at Liberty Springs Presbyterian Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Gray Funeral Home, Clinton.

Clara B. White
GRAY COURT — Clara Bunton White, 86, of 5004 Highway 101 N., wife of Wilbur O. White, passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, at Laurens County Hospital.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Pam and Mattie Donnan Walker. She was a retired employee of Hall Mart Shirt Co. and the Sanitary Market. She was a member of Holly Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, William David Bunton of Greenville; two daughters, Betty B. Horne of Ninety Six and Nancy B. Walden of Laurens; a stepson, James O’Neal White of Morganton, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Serither Thackston of Fountain Inn; a sister, Katherine Hazle of Clinton; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Saturday at Kennedy Mortuary, conducted by the Rev. Steven Smith. Burial is in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family is at 1097 Holly Grove Church Road, Laurens.

Bobby Clem
GREENWOOD — Robert Eugene “Bobby” Clem II, 19, of 804 Calhoun Ave., passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2001.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Robert Eugene Clem Sr. and Lynn Burriss Clem. He formerly attended Special Children’s Kindergarten at First Baptist Church and Emerald Center, and was most recently a student at Merrywood Elementary School. He served as a S.C. Easter Seals poster child, participated in the Special Olympics and had been the special guest of Ken Hatfield at the Emerald Center Golf Tournament. He was a member of East Side Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother of the home; his father of Waterloo; maternal grandmother, Emma Tate Burriss of Greenwood; and two brothers, Russell Scott of Waterloo and Matt Clem of the home.
Services are at 3 Sunday at East Side Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. E.A. Cooper and the Rev. William Robertson. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Paul Robinson, Jeff Edwards, Gene Wood and Russell Scott.
Honorary escorts are members of Mrs. Kay Stratton’s class at Merrywood Elementary School and Mrs. Julie Driver.
Visitation is from 1-3 Sunday at the church.

John H. Fulmer
JOANNA - John H. Fulmer, age 83, of 413 Browning Ave. and widower of Ella Mae Sulton Fulmer passed away Friday, December 21st at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
He was born in Newberry County and was the son of the late Chester G. and Victoria Metts Fulmer.
Mr. Fulmer was a retired employee of Greenwood Mills, Blalock Plant, a member of Magnolia Masonic Lodge #355 and a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church.
He is survived by three brothers, Robert C. Fulmer of Greenwood, James Fulmer and Von Fulmer both of Laurens; four sisters, Shirley Smith of York, Narvis Godfrey of Clinton, Ray Johnson and Ruth Nelson both of Laurens.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Gray Funeral Home.
The family will be at the home of Bobby Brannon, 205 Whitmire Rd., Joanna. Memorials may be made to the Epworth United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 87, Joanna, S.C. 29351.

Edison Hurt
SALUDA — Edison Hurt, 81, of 378 Mount Willing Road, husband of Lucendia “Cindy” Temples Hurt, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at his home.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Joel Ernest and Hassie Eidson Hurt. He was a retired farmer, a retired employee of DuPont, Savannah River Site, and a member of Sardis Baptist Church. A Navy World War II veteran, he served in the Pacific aboard the USS Nashville.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Shirley H. Corley of Saluda; a son, Eddie L. Hurt of Irmo; four brothers, D.C. “Buck” Hurt of Newberry, Earl Hurt and Irvin Hurt, both of Greenwood and Tom Hurt of Saluda; four sisters, Clotyse Gunnells and Doris Boatwright, both of Aiken and Bobbie Enlow and June Brown, both of Saluda; and six grandchildren.
Services were Thursday at Ramey Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Bobby Joyner. Burial was in Travis Park Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, S.C. 29646 or the American Cancer Society chapter of one’s choice.
