SOCASTEE — Dollie Mae Boswell, 94, widow of Charlie Boswell, passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at Grand Strand Health Care.
Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late George and Maggie Adams Fain. She was a retired spinner with Burlington Industries in Calhoun Falls. She resided in Calhoun Falls before moving to the Myrtle Beach area in 1988.
Survivors include a son, Frank Boswell of Surfside Beach; two daughters, Betty Powell of Greenwood and Shirley Poulter of Garden City Beach; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 3 today at the Hillcrest Mausoleum Chapel in Conway.
Entombment is in the Mausoleum.
Visitation is from 2-3 today at the Hillcrest Mausoleum Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Grand Strand Health Care, Activity Department, 4452 Socastee Blvd., Myrtle Beach, S.C. 29577.

Edna Jay Hill
McCORMICK — Edna Jay Hill, 80, formerly of 115 Church St., widow of Thomas Walter Hill, passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at McCormick Health Center.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late John Edgar and Annie Elizabeth Rice Jay. She was retired from Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant. She was a member of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a daughter, Gail Sanders of Greenwood; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Sanders and a grandson, Matthew Sanders, both raised in the home; a sister, Vera Jay Rhoden of Bath; two brothers, Thomas Lamar Jay of Graniteville and the Rev. Marion L. Jay of Augusta, Ga.
Graveside services are at 2 today at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Marion Jay.
The family is at the home.

Bertha McMiller
PITTSBURGH — Bertha McMiller, widow of James McMiller, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, following a short illness.
Born in McCormick, she was a daughter of the late Leroy and Lois Parker Chiles Sr. She was a member of the Nazerene Baptist Church.
Survivors include three brothers, Samuel Chiles of McCormick, Edward Chiles of Augusta, Ga. and Leroy Chiles Jr. of Pittsburgh and three sisters, Clara Griffin and Effie Spearman, both of Greenwood and Dorothy Kirk of Augusta, Ga.
Services are at 12 Wednesday at Walker Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Annette Edwards. Burial is in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family is at the home of a brother, Samuel Chiles in the Pine Hill subdivision of McCormick.

Rosell W. Smith
GREENWOOD — Rosell W. Smith, 59, of 803 Broadway St., Promise Land Community, passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at Self Regional Healthcare.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Willie James and Carrie Coleman Williams. She was a member of Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church. She was also a member of the Women’s Aide Society No. 69. She was a home healthcare worker.
Survivors include a brother, Roosevelt Williams and a sister, the Rev. Gracie W. Smith, both of Promise Land.
The family is at the home of her sister, 602 Ron McNair St.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

Jamon Baker
GREENWOOD — Jamon Kermit Baker Jr., 40, of 116 Greenbriar Road, husband of Rosanne Borrelli Baker, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, from injuries sustained in an accident.
Born in Salamanca, N.Y., he was a son of Jamon Kermit Sr. and Mabel Bunker Baker. He was a graduate of Clarkson University, Potsdam, N.Y., where he received his degree in chemical engineering. He was employed by Fuji Photo Film of Greenwood as a technical engineering supervisor.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home and his parents of Gansevoort, N.Y. is a daughter, Samantha Baker and a son, Jay Baker, both of the home; a brother, Jerrold Baker of Gansevoort, N.Y.; a sister, Karon Woods of Friendship, Texas and maternal grandmother, Dortha Bunker of Hudson Falls, N.Y.
Services are Wednesday in Warrensburg, N.Y.
A memorial service will take place at 2 Sunday, Jan. 6, at Blyth Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to United Way, 110 Phoenix St., Greenwood, SC 29646.

B.C. Goldman
GREENWOOD — Bennie Colvin “B.C.” Goldman, 87, of 109 Prosperity Drive, husband of Mary Willie Haynes Goldman, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at his home.
Born in Lincolnton, Ga., he was a son of the late Tom and Vertie Tullis Goldman. He was retired from Greenwood Mills Plant No. 5 and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He attended South Greenwood Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are two sons, Jerrel Goldman and H. Thea Goldman, both of Greenwood; a sister, Irene G. Dutton of Greenwood; two brothers, Robert Quinn Goldman and Paul M. Goldman, both of Greenwood; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are at 11 Monday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Lawrence Johnson and the Rev. Cullen Hicks. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Danny Holder, Barry Haynes, Tim Haynes, John Haynes, Joe Haynes, Bryan Haynes and Stephen Haynes.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Blyth Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

Eliza Taylor
ABBEVILLE — Eliza Jones Taylor, 99, of 712 Brooks St., widow of John Taylor, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at National Health Care of Greenwood.
Born in Anderson County, she was a charter member of Southside Baptist Church of Abbeville and was a retired retail clerk.
Survivors include a son, Johnny Taylor of Abbeville; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services are at 2 Monday at Harris Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Henry Gambrell. Burial is in Melrose Cemetery.
Visitation is from 1-2 Monday at Harris Funeral Home.

James Otis Whatley, Jr.
PLUM BRANCH — Entered into rest December 27, 2001, Mr. James Otis Whatley, Jr. 81 of Plum Branch, S.C.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 31, 2001, at Liberty Spring Baptist Church with the Rev. Otis Cunningham officiating. The burial will be in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his sister, Annie Mae (Eugene) Simpkins, Edgefield, S.C.; sister-in-law, Josie Mae Culbreth, Philadelphia, PA; two brothers-in-law, Ulysses (Ruth) Blair, Plum Branch, SC and Ralph (Josephine) Blair, Augusta, Ga and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm today at the funeral home.
Friends may call at the residence or after 1:00 today at G.L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary, 250 Coral Street, Edgefield, SC.

Ron Allen
GREENWOOD — Ronald Joe “Ron” Allen, 49, of 754 Holloway St., husband of Ann Moody Allen, passed away Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at his home.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Muriel Allen and the late Edward S. Allen. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and was formerly in insurance sales. He was a member of Providence Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include his wife of Greenwood; his mother of Greenwood; two daughters, Stephanie Drexler of Hodges and Allison Allen of Greenwood; two sons, Brent Allen and Will Allen, both of Greenwood; three sisters, Mrs. Billy (Trudy) Johns and Mrs. Alton (Dot) Wood, both of Greenwood and Mrs. Rick (Frances) Wideman of Ware Shoals; and four grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Blyth Funeral Home by the Revs. John Abrams and Milton Hannah. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Allen Gowan, Eddie Duncan, Samuel Allen, Stan Bell, Glenn Jones, Brad Wood, Randy Flowe, Ken Cobb and Todd Jones.
Honorary escorts are Clint Thompson, Sonny Miller and Bo Tolbert.
Visitation was from 6-8 Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of his mother, 752 Holloway St.

Doris Bannister
ABBEVILLE — Doris Pruitt Bannister, 75, of 334 Old Calhoun Falls Highway, widow of J.D. Bannister Jr., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at Abbeville Nursing Home.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late James Hewlett and Ellen Hagen Pruitt. She was a retired bank teller and a member of Abbeville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Merry Kimmons of Due West, Gail Beauford of Abbeville and Sherry Hendrix of Simpsonville; a brother, Carol Pruitt of Ware Shoals; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are at 4 today in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, conducted by the Revs. Reiny Koschel and Tony Beauford.
Visitation is from 2-3:30 today at Harris Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

Thomas Arthur Sanders
CLINTON — Thomas Arthur Sanders, 82, of 104 Gordon St., widower of Thelma S. Sanders and Mary Epting Sanders, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at his home.
Born in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late Davis M. and Eula Brown Sanders. He retired from Clinton Mills and was a member New Hope Baptist Church, Cross Anchor. An Army veteran, he served with Battery B, 107th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion.
Survivors include a son, Mike Sanders of Greenwood; a daughter, Patsy Cannon of Greenville; a brother, Bobby Sanders of Clinton; a sister, Annie Ruth Barker of Clinton; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 today at Gray Funeral Home, with burial in Rosemont Cemetery.
Visitation is from 12:30-1:30 today at the funeral home.

Annie L. Davis Scott
GREENWOOD — Services for Annie Lucille Davis Scott, of 110 New Market St., will be conducted at 1 Saturday at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, by the Rev. Otis Cunningham, assisted by the Rev. Kimberly Martin, the Rev. L. Mosley and Minister Ricky Oliver. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are nephews and cousins.
Flower bearers are nieces and cousins.
Visitation is Friday evening at the home.

Anna O. Warren
RALEIGH, NC - Mrs. Anna O. Warren, 53, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2001. She was born May 7, 1948 in Anderson, South Carolina to Robert T. and Frances C. Oakley. She was employed for 18 years at Moore Business Forms Co. but most recently worked at Reichhold Inc. She was a member of Hope Community Church in Cary. She passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mrs. Warren is survived by her husband of 20 years Raymond C. Warren of Cary; stepdaughters Tammie Warren of Thomasville, SC and Christie Caton of Waterloo, SC; brother Stephen P. Oakley of Sandy Ridge, NC; sister Margaret D. Teat of FL; niece Annie Robinson of Greenwood, SC and nephew Warren M. Oakley of Sandy Ridge, NC.
The funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 4, 2001 at Hope Community Church, 9043 Chapel Hill Road in Cary with Rev. Mike Lee officiating. Entombment followed at Montlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Arrangements were made by Montlawn Funeral Home 772-1073.
