McDaniel Craine
CLINTON — McDaniel Craine, 87, passed away Feb. 16, 2001. Born in Flag Pond, he was a son of the late George Washington and Martha Hunnicutt Craine.
Survivors include eight sons, Mack Craine Jr. of Waterloo, Jimmy Craine of Enoree, Billy Craine and Eddie Craine, both of Ware Shoals, Carl Craine and Freddie Craine, both of Mountville, Gary Craine of Clinton and Ricky Craine of Laurens; three daughters, Minnie Brown of Joanna, Katie Hawkins of Gray Court and Beverly Hipps of Simpsonville; 41 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Sunday at Gray Funeral Home.
Gray Funeral Home was in charge.

Willie Freeman
McCORMICK — Services for Willie Freeman, Oaks Apartments C-2, are Tuesday at noon at Walker Funeral Home. The Rev. Mary Johnson is officiating. Burial will be in Overbrook Cemetery.
Pallbearers are friends of the family.
Flower bearers are nieces.
The family is at the home.
Walker Funeral Home is in charge.

James Harris
WILLINGTON — Services for James Harris, of Little Mill Road, will be at 2 Wednesday at Little Mill Baptist Church in Willington. The Rev. Paul Saunders and the Rev. R.L. Turman are officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are church officers and flower bearers are church ushers. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
The family is at the home.
Walker Funeral Home is in charge.

Willie Mae Henry
GREENWOOD — Willie Mae Henry, of 228 Mineral Ave., passed away Feb. 19, 2001, at her home. Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Eugene Hill
CHICAGO — Eugene Hill, 75, of 1009 W. 78th St., widower of Charolett Marshall, passed away Feb. 11, 2001.
Born in Ninety Six, S.C., he was a son of the late Jimmy and Lucille Reeder Hill. He attended Ninety Six public schools and retired from Woe Koe.
Survivors include five sons, J.B. Hill, Arnell “Buddy” Hill and Allen Hill, all of Chicago, Geno Hill of Ohio and Larry Lindsey of Newberry, S.C.; two brothers, Odell Hill of Ninety Six, S.C., and Julius Hill of Lawton, Okla.; four sisters, Sophia McKinney of Chicago, Lillie Mae Harris of Ninety Six and Geneva Leverette and Gladys Ethridge, both of Greenwood, S.C.; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were Friday, with burial in Oakwoods Cemetery, Chicago.
A.A. Rayner and Sons was in charge.

Austin Howard
SALUDA — Jimmy Austin Howard, 25, of Route 4, Fletcher Road, passed away Feb. 18, 2001, at Lexington Medical Center.
Born in Saluda, he was a son of Vera Audrey Willis Edwards and the late Jimmy Howard. He is the stepson of Louis Edwards.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather of Saluda; a brother, Jonathan Eric Howard of Saluda; a sister, Questa Robyn Howard of the home; a stepsister, Tonya Anne Edwards of Plum Branch; paternal grandmother, Eula Howard of Greenwood; and maternal grandparents, Joe A. and Rosalee Floyd Willis of Epworth.
Services will be at 1 Tuesday at Ramey Funeral Home, with a private graveside service in Overbrook Cemetery, McCormick.
Ramey Funeral Home is in charge.

Charles ‘Alex’ Proctor
GREENWOOD — Charles “Alex” Proctor, 40, of 412 Marietta Drive, passed away Feb. 19, 2001, in Charlotte, N.C.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Albert Pressley Scott
JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — Albert “A.P.” Pressley Scott, 84, of 215 Texie Lane, passed away Feb. 15, 2001, at Washington Adventist Hospital in Tacoma Park, Md.
Born in Greenwood County, S.C., he was a son of the late Joe and Emma Lou Mathis Scott. He was a member of Sandy Run Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville, where he was a deacon and choir member.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Younger of Hyattsville, Md., and Ann Gilchrist of Greenwood; two sisters, Annie M. Thomas of Greenwood and Edna L. Williams of Troy, S.C.; a brother, James Scott of Saluda, S.C.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1 Friday at Sandy Run Missionary Baptist Church, with McIver Funeral Home, 40 Kerr St., in charge.
Final rites will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Springfield Baptist Church, Highway 25, Edgefield, S.C., with burial in the church cemetery.
Robinson and Son Mortuary Inc. is in charge of local arrangements.

Betty Y. Scott
GREENWOOD — Betty Young Scott, 76, of 203 Woodland Way, widow of Jack W. Scott, passed away Feb. 18, 2001, at her home.
Born in Florence County, she was a daughter of the late Hubert Eugene and Orie Bingham Young. She was a member of Grendel Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she taught the Junior Sunday School Class, was a past president of the Women’s Ministry and a member of the Young at Heart Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Jackie Thornton of Greenwood; a son, Larry Scott of Greenwood; five sisters, Frances Strickland and Joyce DuBose, both of Sumter, JoAnn Welch of Florence, Donnie Hutson of Columbia and Judy McAllister of Irmo; four brothers, Therion Young and L.J. Young, both of Laurinburg, N.C., William Young of Rock Hill and Lavaughn Young of Charleston; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Tuesday at Grendel Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev. James Tollison and the Rev. Lavaughn Young. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Pallbearers are Jeffery Scott, John Wayne Price Jr., Anthony Price, Shannon Price, Scott Thornton and Mitchell McAllister.
Honorary escorts are the ladies of the church and members of the Young at Heart Club. Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

BRADLEY — John H. Terry Jr., 61, 301 Boulware Drive, Promised Land Community, husband of Zarelda Smith Terry, passed away Feb. 18, 2001.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late John Henry Terry Sr. and Sarah Ellen Collins Terry. He was a brick mason and worked in the construction industry. He was a member of Second Damascus Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Maris Wills Terry of Tallahassee, Fla., and John Henry Terry III of Toronto, Canada; three daughters, Andrea Marchelle Anderson of Oxen Hill, Md., and Cynthia Terry and Sonya Terry, both of the home; two sons, Collins Terry of Greenwood and Benjamin Terry of Promised Land; four sisters, Margaret Cannon of Greenwood, Ida Robinson of Landover, Md., Lillie Bell Andrews and Sarah Gaston, both of Promised Land; and six grandchildren, two of the home, Dameon Terry and Reginald Haskin.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, which is in charge.

STATESVILLE, N.C. — Services for Elder John C. “Neeg” Calhoun Sr., of 318 Berry St., will be at 2 Thursday at Rutledge and Bingham Funeral Home, with burial in Irdell Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Brian Canes, pastor of the Rapture Preparation Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, will officiate.

James ‘Joe’ Hall
COLUMBIA — James Woodrow “Joe” Hall, 86, widower of Evelyn M. Hall, passed away Feb. 18, 2001. Born in Union, he was a son of the late Joseph Bradford and Bertha Gault Hall. He was a former employee of Jim Moore Cadillac and a member of Shandon Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, John W. Hall of Columbia; a daughter, Joann Helms of Columbia; and a sister, Ene Hall Cobb of Hodges.
Memorial services were at 11 a.m. today at Dunbar Funeral Home, with visitation after the services.
Memorials may be made to Shandon Baptist Church.

ABBEVILLE — Willie Mae Henry, 90, of 104 Secession Ave., widow of James Henry, passed away Feb. 19, 2001, in Greenwood at the home of a daughter, Tommie Wall.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Annie Taggart Brown and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Tommie Wall of Greenwood, Loretta Jackson of Chicago and Ladonna Ballard of Hodges; two sisters, Anna Brown of Barrett, Pa., and Thelma Bishop of Chicago; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Tommie Wall, 228 Mineral Ave., Greenwood.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, Greenwood, which is in charge.

Montie Emma Hill
ABBEVILLE — Montie Emma Hill, 46, of 411 Branch St., wife of Clifton Wilson, passed away Feb. 18, 2001, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of Precious Childs Hill and Walter Hill. She was a former member of Glover Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; her parents, both of Abbeville; two brothers, Walter Hill III and Ben Hill, both of Abbeville; and three sisters, Fannie Hill and Louise Rayford, both of Abbeville and Precious Harris of Greenwood.
