McCORMICK — Services for Leola Walker Brown, of 515 Brown St., will be at 1 Thursday at New Hope Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. J.C. Williams, Isaac Barnwell, R.C. Holloway and James Starks. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are nephews and nieces.
Honorary escorts are members of the Order of the Eastern Star and Women’s Home Aide Society No. 1.
The family is at the home.

Hattie Mae Cade
AIKEN — Hattie Mae Brown Cade, 56, of 988-A Colbert Bridge Road, wife of Earnest Cade Sr., passed away Feb. 25, 2001, at Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, she lived in Aiken for the past 24 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Glover Grove Baptist Church, Gloverville, where she was a member of the usher board and the choir.
Survivors include her husband of Darlington; two daughters, Linda Cade and Catherine Lightsey, both of Aiken; two sons, Earnest Cade Jr. and Christopher Cade, both of Aiken; a brother, Thomas Fuller of Abbeville; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. Bobby Jones at 3:30 Friday at Glover Grove Baptist Church. Burial will be in Aiken Memorial Park.
Visitation is from 7-8 Thursday at Jackson-Brooks Funeral Home and 2:30-3:30 Friday at the church. Viewing begins after 3 Thursday.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Linda Cade, 988-A Colbert Bridge Road.

Jack Davenport
GREENWOOD — Jack William Davenport Sr., 65, of 212 Blakedale Circle, husband of Jean James Davenport, passed away Feb. 27, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of Inez Cromley Davenport and the late James E. Davenport. He graduated from Greenwood High School and attended Piedmont Technical College and Midlands Technical College, Columbia. He retired as an insurance agent/broker from David Crotts and Associates and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother of Greenwood; a son, Jack Davenport Jr. of Columbia; a daughter, Rene’ D. Abney of Greenville; two grandchildren and a step-granddaughter.
Graveside services will be conducted by the Rev. John Setzler at 4 today in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Rufus May, Stan Dawkins, David Crotts, Jim Doares, Matthew Paulsen and Lester Hunter.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 501 E. Creswell Ave., Greenwood, S.C. 29646 or to a charity of one’s choice.

Hartridge Lucius Evans
JOHNSTON — Hartridge Lucius Evans, 73, of 1091 Calhoun St., husband of Eleanor Nelson Evans, passed away Feb. 27, 2001, at University Hospital.
Born in Joanna, he was a son of the late John Sandy and Koger Player Evans. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict, a retired assistant manager with Southern Bell and a member of Johnston Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Marcia J. Beasley of Fort Riley, Kan.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. Lowell Clark at 3 Thursday at Bland Funeral Home. Burial will be sin Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
Visitation is from 6:30-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Milton P. Ferguson Jr.
EASLEY — Milton Ponder Ferguson Jr., 76, of 105 Nancy Drive, husband of Sybil Ellison Ferguson, passed away Feb. 27, 2001, at Riverside Nursing Center.
Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Milton Ponder Ferguson Sr. and Marie McCoy Ferguson. He retired from Fluor Daniel and was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, the Rev. Dr. Doug Ferguson and Gray Ferguson, both of Easley; two daughters, Linda Moody of Calhoun Falls and Judy Crowe of Easley; three sisters, Doris Mason and Patsy Pepper, both of Six Mile and Diane Powell of Easley; two brothers, Joe Earl Ferguson of Florida and Gene Ferguson of Greenville; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Doug Ferguson at noon Thursday in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.
Pallbearers are Rick Moody, Larry Moody, Greg Crow, Nathan Ferguson, Tim Smith and Tim Crabtree.
Visitation is from 10:30-11:45 Thursday at Dillard Memorial Funeral Home, Pickens.
The family is at the home.

ABBEVILLE — Memorial services for Willie Mae Henry, of 104 Secession Ave., will be conducted by Bishop Emmanuel Spearman at 11 a.m. Thursday at Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Tommie Wall, 228 Mineral Ave., Greenwood.

Earl Putman Jr.
LAURENS — Earl Putman Jr., 46, of 28 Smythe St., husband of Florence Putman, passed away Feb. 24, 2001, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
A son of the late Earl Putman Sr. and Ruth Young Putman, he was a member of Center Rabun Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jermore Putman of New York; two stepdaughters, Angela Smith of Laurens and Cynthia Curenton of Cross Hill; and a sister, Evelyn P. Henderson of Gray Court.
Services will be at 3:30 Thursday at Mount Zion Holiness Church, with burial in Center Rabun Church Cemetery.

Harry Jean Renner
GREENVILLE — Harry Jean Renner, 64, of 8 Perry Road, husband of Sue O’Shields Renner, passed away Feb. 25, 2001.
Born in Newport, Tenn., he was a son of the late Henry Clay and Maggie Elizabeth Cogburn Renner. He was co-owner and operator of Renner Concrete and a member of Westville Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Wanda Renner Spearman and Joan Sheppard, both of Greenville; two sons, A.E. Renner and Ronnie Renner, both of Greenville; two sisters, Linda Riley of Williamston and Betty Collins of Tigerville; three brothers, Larry Raines of Pelzer, David Renner of Ware Shoals and Jimmy Renner of Tigerville; five grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Services will be at 3:30 Thursday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Section Y.
Visitation is from 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Pressley Walker Sr.
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Pressley Walker Sr., 53, widower of Ola Mae Thompson Walker, passed away Feb. 20, 2001.
Born in McCormick, S.C., he was a son of the late J.B. and Alice Wardlaw Walker. He was a former member of Holy Spring Baptist Church and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Buffalo. A graduate of Mims High School and an Army veteran, he worked at Buffalo Niagara International Airport.
Survivors include three sons, Pressley Walker Jr. and Quencey Walker, both of Buffalo and Kevin Walker of Charleston, S.C.; a daughter, Jeanine Walker of Buffalo; two sisters, Martha B. Martin and Ella Singletary, both of McCormick; four brothers, J.W. Walker of McCormick, Roosevelt Walker of Hephzibah, Ga., Willie B. Walker of Niagara Falls and James Monroe Walker of Buffalo; and five grandchildren.
Services and burial were Monday in Buffalo.

Doris Duff
GREENWOOD — Doris Stone Duff, 68, of 2616 Montague Ave. Extension, wife of Charles C. Duff Sr., passed away Feb. 7, 2001, at National Health Care of Greenwood.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late C.W. and Mary Green Stone. She retired from Park Seed Co. and was a member of the Park Seed Retiree Club. She was a member of North Side Baptist Church and the Agape Sunday School Class of the church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Linda Steadman of Greenwood and Sherry Abernethy of Concord, N.C.; a son, Charles C. Duff Jr. of Greenwood; a brother, Ben Stone of Callison; a sister, Martha Scott of Greenwood; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Friday at Blyth Funeral Home, with Dr. Jeff Lethco and the Rev. Joseph Ouzts officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Allen West, Ron Breazeale, Ralph Thomas, Alvin Green, David Green, Henry Hodges and Hoyt Hembree. Honorary escorts are members of the Agape Sunday School Class of North Side Baptist Church.
Visitation is from 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home. The family is at the home.

SPARTANBURG — Emma “Marie” Garrison Hagen, 96, of Valley Falls Terrace, widow of Erskine Hagen, passed away Feb. 7, 2001, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home, Greenwood, which is in charge.

Norma Jones Lawson
CLINTON — Norma Jones Lawson, 77, passed away Feb. 7, 2001, at Elbert Memorial Hospital in Elberton, Ga.
Born in Kingsport, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Issac and Frilda Jones. She retired from the Whitten Center and was a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include three sons, Steve W. Lawson of Clinton, Tommy Lawson of Dallas and Dale Lawson of Charlotte; a daughter, Shirley Taylor of Clinton; three sisters, Louise Webb and Mildred Davis, both of Clinton and Nellie Robertson of Greenwood; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 1 Saturday at Pentecostal Holiness Church, with visitation after the services.
Memorials may be made to Pentecostal Holiness Church, 403 Academy St., Clinton, S.C. 29325.

Lucien E. Lewis Jr.
GREENVILLE — Lucien Evans Lewis Jr., 35, of 575 W. Washington St., formerly of New Jersey, passed away Feb. 3, 2001.
Born in Mount Holly, N.J., he was a son of Lucien E. Lewis Sr. and Barbara J. Hashim. He was a chemical technician and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his parents of Mount Holly; a sister, Angelique Harris of Mount Holly; and a brother, Blaine Valentine of Louisville, Ky.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. Raymond Adams at noon Friday at Parks Funeral Home, Greenwood. Burial will be in Second Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery, Greenwood.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are family and friends. Visitation is at the church after the services.

Lydia Mae MaHaffey
ABBEVILLE — Lydia Mae Johnson MaHaffey, 92, formerly of 609 W. Brooks St., widow of Jesse Lee MaHaffey, passed away Feb. 5, 2001, at Cal Turner Nursing Home in Scotsville, Ky.
Memorial services will be conducted by the Rev. Earl Hartley at 11 a.m. Saturday at Melrose Cemetery.

Elijah Pettigrew
ABBEVILLE — Elijah Pettigrew, 80, passed away Feb. 7, 2001, at Richard County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Mary Ann Pettigrew. He retired from CSX Railroad and was a member of Flat Rock AME Church.
Survivors include a brother, James Harris Pettigrew of Columbia; and three sisters, Gussie Johnson of Abbeville, Katherine Golphin of Augusta and Julia Ann Young of Atlanta.
The family is at the home of a sister, Gussie Johnson, 109 Pettigrew St., Abbeville. Services will be announced by Brown and Walker Funeral Home, which is in charge.
