Eugene L. Prince
McCORMICK — Eugene L. Prince, 72, of Route 2, husband of Louvenia Harrison Prince, passed away Feb. 6, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
Born in McCormick, he was a son of the late John and Lula Lanham Prince. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where he was a former senior choir member and usher. He retired from South Atlantic Construction Co.
Survivors include his wife of the home; four daughters, Wilahemenia Talbert of Plum Branch, Patricia Brown and Sandra Quarles, both of McCormick and Lula Prince of Greenwood; a son, Barry Prince of Calhoun Falls; two brothers, J.C. Prince of McCormick and Bishop Robert Prince of Oxen Hill, Md.; three sisters, Ada Gilchrist and Moline Harrison, both of McCormick and Fannie Hardy of Plainsfield, N.J.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Walker Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Gladys Wrenn
GREENWOOD — Gladys Cooper Wrenn, 80, of 106 Sylvan Road, wife of Samuel W. Wrenn, passed away Feb. 7, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Newberry County, she was a daughter of the late Josie D. Cooper and Louise McFerrin Cooper McAbee. She was a 1938 graduate of Greenwood High School and retired from Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant. She was a member of Jordan Memorial Baptist Church and the Mary Ouzts Sunday School Class of the church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; three sisters, Annie Laura Varner of Columbia and Bobbie Weeks and Florine McCoy, both of Greenwood; and a brother, Billy S. Cooper of Ocala, Fla.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Jordan Memorial Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Billy Huff, Robert Patton and Hugh Fortson. The body will be placed in the Church at 10. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Larry Thomas, Dewey Rearden, Gene Adams, Ronald Burton, Tom Hart, T.J. Bryant, Ray Faulkner and Jan McCoy.
Honorary escorts are the men of Jordan Memorial Baptist Church and the staff of Faith Home, along with Lee Burton and L.D. “Shorty” Adams.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Blyth Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of Lester and Bobbie Weeks, 1729 E. Durst Ave.

Ty’Hilan Travez Yeldell
McCORMICK — Ty’Hilan Travez Yeldell, one month, infant son of Nieta LeJune Payton and Travis Yeldell, passed away Feb. 6, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
Survivors include his parents of McCormick; maternal grandparents, Sandra and Joseph Stevens of McCormick; paternal grandparents, Baba Gilchrist and Eugene Yeldell, both of McCormick; maternal great-grandfather, Willie Gary Jr. of Plum Branch; and paternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Gilchrist and Catherine Hammond, all of McCormick.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Walker Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. W.O. Vance and the Rev. J.C. Williams. Burial will be in Pine Grove AME Church Cemetery.
The family is at the home of Mrs. and Mrs. Joseph Stevens, 309 Augusta St. Extension.

Jeanette L. Barnwell
ENOREE — Jeanette Lawson Barnwell, 58, of 5645 Cross Keys Highway, wife of Thomas Barnwell, passed away Feb. 7, 2001.
Born in Spartanburg County, she was a daughter of the late Jesse and Martha Brewington Lawson.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Bruce Barnwell of Enoree; a daughter, Sandra Lynch of Cross Hill; three brothers, Otis Lawson, Ashmore Lawson and Monroe Lawson, all of Enoree; two sisters, Annie Sumner and Frances Wilson, both of Enoree; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Saturday at Lanford Funeral Home, with burial in Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Ed Coleman
GREENWOOD — Joseph Edward “Ed” Coleman, 84, of 1000 Old Abbeville Highway, husband of Sammie Gambrell Coleman, passed away Feb. 7, 2001, at his home.
Born in McCormick County, he was a son of the late Sidney Augustus and Leona Ramsey Coleman. He was a World War II Army veteran and a retired employee of Warner-Lambert. He was a member of West Side Baptist Church and the Joppa Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Eddy Coleman of the home; a sister, Alene C. Coursey of Greenwood; and two grandchildren.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. Hal Lane at 11 a.m. Saturday at Blyth Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Chuck Coursey, Mike Coursey, Frank Coursey, Danny Link, Glenn Link and Bill Link.
Visitation is at the funeral home from 7-9 tonight.

Fred S. Davis Jr.
CHARLESTON — Fred Stubbs Davis Jr., widower of Aileen Wallace Davis, passed away Feb. 8, 2001, at his home.
Born in Knoxville, Tenn., he was a son of the late Fred Stubbs Davis Sr. and Willie Hartzog Davis. He was a sales manager for Wise Snack Foods and served in the Army 30th Infantry Division.
Survivors include a daughter, Betsy Davis McCartney of Atlanta; a son, Fred S. Davis III of Charleston; a sister, Mrs. L. Ruple (Billie) Harley Sr. of Greenwood; a brother, John H. Davis of Greenwood; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 Saturday in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at J. Henry Stuhr, West Ashley Chapel.

ABBEVILLE — Pearl Edwin Griffith, 87, of 1196 Nation Road, passed away Feb. 8, 2001, at Hart County Hospital.
A World War II Air Force veteran, he retired from Bigelow-Sanford and was the former owner of L&G Fashions Clothing. He was a member of First Assembly of God and Woodmen of the World.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Causey of Anderson and Judy Adams of Abbeville; a sister, Louise Crowder of Danville, Va.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 Saturday at First Assembly of God, Iva, with burial in South Lawn Memorial Garden in Starr.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at McDougald Funeral Home.

Marie Hagen
SPARTANBURG — Emma Marie Garrison Rice Hagen, 96, of Valley Falls Terrace on Locust Road, formerly of 110 Edgefield Street in Greenwood, widow of Erskine Hagen, passed away Feb. 7, 2001, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Spartanburg County, she was a retired private duty nurse and a member of Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church, Greenwood. She was twice married, first to the late Jack Rice.
Survivors include a son, Jack Rice Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted by the Rev. Scott Cloninger at 3:30 today in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Mount Lebanon United Methodist Church, 104 Lebanon Church Road, Greenwood, S.C. 29646 or to a charity of one’s choice.

EASLEY — Vennie Jessie Lewis Kelley, 88, of 1850 Crestview Road, wife of William Harley Kelley, passed away Feb. 7, 2001, at Blue Ridge Nursing Center, Easley.
Born in Westminster, she was a daughter of the late Floyd P. and Mamie Honea Lewis. She was a retired textile worker and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy, Summerville.
Survivors include her husband of Summerville; eight daughters, Catherine Ross of Ware Shoals, Patricia Thomas of Cape Cod, Mass., Bobbie Mathews of Frederick, Md., Faye Hobbs of Dothan, Ala., Beverly Trotter of Easley, Gladys Duvall of Mount Pleasant, Edith Murdauh of Summerville and Evelyn Goodman of Greenwood; four sons, Roy Kelley of North Port, Ala., Luther Kelley of Pickens and Johnny Dean Kelley and Wayman Kelley, both of Easley; 37 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Saturday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Bill Vines. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers and honorary escorts are grandsons.
Visitation is from 12-2 Saturday at the funeral home.

ANDERSON — Patsy Marie Hamby Kelly, 48, of 3501 New Pond Road, Apt. 6, passed away Feb. 7, 2001, at her home.
Born in Franklin County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Winfred and Odie Mae Buffington Hamby. She was a homemaker, and she attended Gethsemane Baptist Temple.
Survivors include a son, Jeff Coe of Anderson; two daughters, Sandy Barbare of Anderson and Michelle Johnson of Hodges; five sisters, Linda Seagraves of Lavonia, Ga., Janice Shavon Wilson of Anderson, Shelby Wilson of Williamston and Bobbie Snelgrove and Mary Tabor, both of Starr; and six grandchildren.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. Sam Duncan at 2 Saturday at Gethsemane Baptist Temple. The body will be placed in the temple at 1:30. Burial will be in South Lawn Memorial Garden, Starr.

AIKEN — Ruby J. Loyd, 71, widow of Luther B. Loyd, passed away Feb. 7, 2001, at Mattie C. Hall Health Care Center.
Born in Johnston, she was a daughter of the late Olin Luther and Zelma Ouzts Jordan.
Survivors include a son, Robert Loyd of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Deborah Franklin of Aiken; three sisters, Leone Ready of Aiken, Louise Quarles of Johnston and Ellie Key of North Augusta; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 3 Saturday at George Funeral Home, with burial in Aiken Memorial Gardens.

Jimmie Stribble Pruitt
NEWBERRY — Jimmie Stribble Pruitt, 92, of 1227 Glenn St., passed away Feb. 8, 2001, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Paul W. and Martha Bundrick Stribble. She retired from Kendall Co., Mollohon Plant, and was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir and a Sunday school teacher in the primary department for 50 years. She was a member of Women’s Missionary Union, the Parks Prayer Circle and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce P. Fraser of Anderson; a son, Jimmy Ray Pruitt of Newberry; two sisters, Marie Longshore of Kinards and Ruth Whitener of Union; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Harmon at 2 Saturday at First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Whitaker Funeral Home.

H.I. Saylors Sr.
ANDERSON — Humphrey I. Saylors Sr., 90, of 3701 Dixon Road, husband of Lillian Lollis Saylors, passed away Feb. 7, 2001, at NHC of Anderson.
Born in Honea Path, he was a son of Gus and Nan Sullivan Saylors. He was a former bus driver for Trailways Bus Lines, a former employee of Singer Co. and was also self-employed. He was an Army veteran, a member of Ruff Masonic Lodge for 50 years and a member of Oakwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Humphries I. Saylors Jr. of Jackson, Tenn., and Olin Saylors of Anderson; two daughters, Doris Lark of Anderson and Beatrice Saussamon of Summerdale, Pa.; a brother, Ed Saylors of Greenwood; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Services will be conducted by Dr. Lewis E. Greene and the Rev. Brent Armstrong at 3 Sunday at McDougald Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
