Elford Scruggs

CHESNEE — Elford Scruggs, 76, of 1888 Ezell Road, husband of Ruby Henderson Scruggs, passed away Feb. 8, 2001.
He was a son of the late Summie and Pearl Humphries Scruggs.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Undean Wilson and Elizabeth Blanton, both of Chesnee and Sue Thrift of Mayo; a son, Norman Wayne Scruggs of Seneca; two sisters, Pauline Lawter of Mayo and Juean Bishop of Greenwood; two brothers, Leroy Scruggs and Bud Willard Scruggs, both of Chesnee; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Buck Creek Baptist Church, with burial in Springhill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Eggers Funeral Home.
Eggers Funeral Home is in charge.

Olivia H. Sherard

ANDERSON — Olivia Henderson Sherard, 73, of 1014 Calhoun Drive, widow of Thomas Alexander Sherard Sr., passed away Feb. 7, 2001, at Greenville Memorial Medical Center.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late George Marion and Blanche Ritchey Henderson. She was a retired LPN instructor with Anderson School District 5 and was active in health organization activities. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Alexander Sherard Jr. of Huntersville, N.C., and George Henderson Sherard of Jefferson, Md.; a daughter, Pamela Sherard Steifle of Greenwood; four sisters, Martha Jean Henderson, Helen Henderson Spann and Sandra Henderson Matthews, all of Moncks Corner and Amelia Henderson DeWitt of Goose Creek; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted by Dr. David J. Bailey at 11 a.m. Saturday in New Silver Brook Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6:30-7:30 tonight at Sullivan-King Mortuary.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, 1404 North Blvd., Anderson, S.C. 29621; the American Cancer Society, 600 N. McCORMICK — Services for Josh Banks, of Route 1, Highway 64, Old Troy Road, will be at 3 Saturday at Rockford AME Church, Mount Carmel, conducted by the Rev. James Louden III, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Pallbearers are grandsons.
Flower bearers are nieces.
The family is at the home.
Walker Funeral Home is in charge.

Clayton Butler

GREENWOOD — Services for Clayton Butler, of Brewer Boarding Home, will be at 2 Saturday at Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Joe Leverette. Burial will be in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are staff members of the Emerald Center and friends.
Flower bearers are staff members of the Emerald Center.
Visitation begins at 7 Friday night at the home of his sister, Rebecca Butler, 208 Sycamore Drive, McKellar Farms, Greenwood.
Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home is in charge.

Charles Anderson Cade

McCORMICK — Services for Charles Anderson “Boonie” Cade, of Route 1, will be at 1 Saturday at Little Mill Baptist Church, Willington, conducted by the Rev. Paul Saunders and the Rev. John Smalls. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon.
The family is at the home of his mother, Charlie Mae Wright Cade, Route 1, McCormick.
Walker Funeral Home is in charge.

Mary Dixon

CALHOUN FALLS — Mary Gentry Dixon, 96, of Woodruff Nursing Home, formerly of Calhoun Falls, widow of the Rev. Calvin Joseph Dixon, passed away Jan. 10, 2001, at B.J. Workman Hospital in Woodruff.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late William Harper and Sally Fain Gentry. She was a homemaker and a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Judge Harold C. Dixon, Earnest E. Dixon and Samuel W. Dixon, all of Calhoun Falls and Charles R. Dixon of Greer; a sister, Hamilton Ethridge of Abbeville; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 Friday at Northside Baptist Church of Calhoun Falls, conducted by the Revs. Jerry Dalton, Sam Dixon and Marion E. Yarbrough. Burial will be in Iva City Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Pallbearers are Bobby Dixon, Brian Dixon, Keith Johnson, Marty Wood, Jonathan Vick and Tim Dixon.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Calhoun Falls Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of a son, Judge Harold C. Dixon, 53, Cedar Lane.
Calhoun Falls Funeral Home is in charge.

Clara Jacobs Greggs

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Clara Jacobs Greggs, 60, of 54 St. John’s Place, formerly of Calhoun Falls, S.C., passed away Jan. 9, 2001, at a local hospital.
Born in Calhoun Falls, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Ophelia Raindrop Jacobs. She was a public school teacher.
Survivors include a son, George Terry Jacobs of Brooklyn; a daughter, Gail Evett Greggs of Brooklyn; four sisters, Lois Carter of Charlotte, N.C., Georgia Anna McAllister of Jacksonville, N.C., Queen Ester White of Abbeville, S.C., and Vivian J. Tillman of Calhoun Falls; and six grandchildren.
The family is at the home of a sister, Vivian J. Tillman, 625 Seneca St., Calhoun Falls.
Memorial services will be announced by Friendly Funeral Home of Calhoun Falls, which is in charge.

Granville Hallman

EDGEFIELD — Granville Hallman, 87, of 422 Mims St., passed away Jan. 9, 2001, in Augusta.
Born in Edgefield County, he was a retired textile worker and a member of Edgefield Church of God.
Survivors include a son, Granville Hallman of Abbeville; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 today in Eastview Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Steve Chrisco.
Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home is in charge.

Louise Morrow Hill

LOWNDESVILLE — Louise Morrow Hill, 69, of Box 63, passed away Jan. 9, 2001, at the home of her daughter.
Survivors include a daughter, Denise Gaines of Starr; a stepson, Walter Hill of Lowndesville; a brother, Jimmy Morrow; three sisters, Maggie Chasteen, Eva Nelson and Willie M. James; and a grandchild.
Services will be at 3 Friday at Smyrna United Methodist Church, with burial in Providence Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at McDougald Funeral Home, Anderson.
The family is at 107 Crestview Drive, Starr.

Rene Wulfjen Kneece

SALUDA — Rene Wulfjen Kneece, 48, of Route 5, Box 2153, wife of James C. Kneece, passed away Jan. 9, 2001, at her home.
Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of Frankie Berry Wulfjen and the late Ralph E. Wulfjen. She was a licensed practical nurse, and had worked at the Saluda Nursing Center and J.F. Hawkins Health Care. She was a member of Pine Pleasant Baptist Church, the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Calvin Crozier Chapter, and was co-president of the Newberry High School Band Parents Association.
Survivors include her husband of the home; her mother of Saluda; two daughters, Kacey Layne Kneece and Kandace Erin Kneece, both of the home; two sons, Josh Kneece and Wade Kneece, both of the home; and two brothers, Ralph Wulfjen Jr. of West Palm Beach, Fla., and William M. “Bill” Wulfjen of Newberry.
Services will be at 3 Friday at Pine Pleasant Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Marion Ringer and the Rev. Grady Garris. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are deacons of the church.
Visitation is at the church after the services.

Erin ‘Tut’ Kunkle

NEWBERRY — Erin “Tut” Nichols Morris Kunkle, 95, passed away Jan. 9, 2001.
Born in Newberry County, she was a daughter of the late Matthew Luke and Melissa Viola Schumpert Nichols. She was first married to the late James Rhett Morris and then to the late Quincy Epting Kunkle. She retired from Newberry Mills and was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, the Faye Roof Circle and the Adult II Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Morris Jackson of Newberry and Barbara Werts of North Augusta; three stepsons, Elmer Kunkle of Prosperity, Voight Kunkle of Pomaria and Lewis Kunkle of Newberry; three stepdaughters, Evelyn Lake of Prosperity, Doris Hipp of Newberry and Ruby Dawkins of Saluda; a brother, Dempsey Nichols of Newberry, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 today at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Prosperity, with burial in the church cemetery.

Eckard Lee Logan

GREENWOOD — Services for Eckard Lee Logan, of 113 Watson St., will be at 2 Saturday at Robinson and Son Mortuary, conducted by the Rev. Ulyses L. Parks. Burial will be in Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Laurens Highway.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are friends of the family.
Visitation is from 7-8 Friday at home of his mother, Katherine Cohen Lewis, 104 Nix Court, Greenwood.

Anna Martin

ABBEVILLE — Anna Cianci Martin, 75, of 500 Pleasant St., Southington, Conn., widow of John F. Martin, passed away Jan. 10, 2001, at a Bristol, Conn., hospital.
Born in Berlin, Conn., she was a daughter of the late Paul and Jennie Leonardi Cianci. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Connecticut.
Survivors include a son, John Allen Martin of Southington; two sisters, Mary D’Amato of Southington and Lucy Nelson of Kensington, Conn.; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 Saturday in Melrose Cemetery, Abbeville, with the Rev. Bill Ellison officiating.
Visitation is from 1-2 Saturday at Harris Funeral Home.
