DETROIT — Services for Douglas Brown will be at 1 Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church, Greenwood, S.C., conducted by Dr. Willie S. Harrison, assisted by the Rev. Anthony McCallum and the Rev. Carnell Richardson. Burial will be in Evening Star Memorial Gardens, Greenwood. The body will be placed in the church at noon.

NEWBERRY — Ruth Derrick DeHart, 82, formerly of 2986 Dennis Dairy Road, passed away Jan. 23, 2001, at White Oak Manor, Newberry.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Joe D. and Ollie Lybrand Derrick.
Survivors include two sons, Robert DeHart of Pomaria and James DeHart of Newberry; a daughter, Judy Moore of Prosperity; a sister, Gerlie Bouknight of Newberry; three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 Friday at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home, with burial in Rosemont Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

PROSPERITY — Frankie Lee Gallman, 42, passed away Jan. 20, 2001.
Born in Newberry County, he was a son of Bennie Smith and Sara Gallman Green.
Survivors include his mother of the home; his father of Saluda; his stepfather, Ed Green; three sons, Julius Davis of Prosperity, Frankie Davis of New York and Justin Davis of Mountville; two brothers, Henry Green and Ivory Green; and two sisters, Mary Green and Angel Green.
Services will be at 3 today at Lever Chapel AME Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The casket will be placed in the church at 2.

GREENWOOD — Idalie Lark, 69, of 301 N. Hospital St. (Brewer Boarding Home), passed away Jan. 22, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Ninety Six, she was a daughter of the late Jessie and Rosa Lee Carroll Lark. She was employed by the Emerald Center and was of the Baptist faith.
She was the last member of her immediate family.
Services will be at 2 Friday at Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. George Hill, Emerald Center Chaplain. Burial will be in Ninety Six Community Cemetery.

HONEA PATH — Mary Tumblin Mahon, 78, of 3573 Irwin Mill Road, wife of Charlie Mahon, passed away Jan. 24, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late George P. and Allie Mae Allen Tumblin. She retired from Abney Mills, Belton Plant, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Pete Miller of Greenwood; two sisters, Bobbie Lindley and Martha McGlohan, both of Laurens; a brother, Paul Tumblin of Laurens; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Oakbrook Memorial Park, Greenwood.

WESTMINSTER — Charles “Ed” Edward Nix, 40, of 185 Brookwood Drive, husband of Karen Lynette Marcengill Nix, passed away Jan. 22, 2001, at Mountain Rest.
Born in Oconee County, he was a son of Tommy Blease and Shirley Loudermilk Nix. A graduate of Oakway High School, he was a construction heavy equipment operator and a member of Faith Training Center and the North America Hunters Club.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Jonathan Edward Nix of Walhalla; three daughters, Sandra Nix of Seneca and Amanda Denise Nix and Sarah Faye Nix, both of Walhalla; his parents of McCormick; a stepson, Jeremy Hicks of Seneca; two stepdaughters, Amy Cassell of Salem and Lori Hicks of Westminster; two brothers, Richard Nix and Maurice Nix, both of Seneca; a sister, Elaine Nix Mize of Walhalla; a maternal grandmother Essie Loudermilk of West Union; and a grandchild.

CALHOUN FALLS — Ernest Eugene “Gene” Dixon, 73, of 446 Jackson St., husband of Dealie Gibson Dixon, passed away Jan. 27, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Iva, he was a son of the late Rev. Calvin Joseph and Mary Gentry Dixon. He was a retired supervisor of 28 years for Burlington Industries, a member of Northside Baptist Church and an honorably discharged WWII Veteran having served in the 1580th Air Transport Command in Shang-hi, China for two years.
Survivors include three sons, David Eugene Dixon of Calhoun Falls, Stephen P. Dixon of Ninety Six and Timothy M. Dixon of Greenwood; three brothers, Judge Harold C. Dixon and Samuel Wayne Dixon, both of Calhoun Falls, and Charles R. Dixon of Greer; nine grandchildren and a great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Marlene Dixon.
Services will be at 3 Monday at Calhoun Falls Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Revs. Haskell Gibson and W. Michael Ford. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

TROVOSE, Pa. — Johnny Jackson, of 4353 Garfield Lane, formerly of Greenwood, passed away Jan. 24, 2001, in Pennsylvania .
He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ruff. He was a veteran of the Korean War and attended Brewer High School in the 1950s.
Services will be Tuesday at the Jones Tabernacle AME Church in Philadelphia. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
