William Calvin DeHart
NEWBERRY — William Calvin DeHart, 91, of 12009 S.C. Highway 121, husband of Lollage Wicker DeHart, passed away July 1, 2001, at his home.
Born in Newberry County, he was a son of the late James Langford and Mary Helen Bobb DeHart. He was a retired assistant maintenance supervisor of Newberry College. A member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Men’s Sunday School Class, he was a former church council member and served as a Sunday School treasurer for 30 years and on the building committee for the parish building.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Carroll (Nancy) Clem and Mrs. Melvin (Carolyn) Mooney, both of Greenwood; two sisters, Mrs. Everton (Sara) Cook of Newberry and Mrs. Helen New of Martinez, Ga.; a brother, Jesse DeHart of Augusta, Ga.; and three grandchildren.
Services are at 4 today at St. Paul Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. D. Brent Nichols and the Rev. Dr. John L. Setzler. Burial is in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Richard DeHart, Robert DeHart, Claude Shealy, James DeHart, Harold Wicker, Carold Wicker, Lewis Wicker and John W. Leavell.
Honorary pallbearers are members of the church council and the Men’s Sunday School Class.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2496 S.C. Highway 773, Pomaria, S.C. 29126 or Newberry College, 2100 College St., Newberry, S.C. 29108.

William D. Dorn
McCORMICK — William Dean Dorn, 43, husband of Joyce Barnes Dorn, passed away July 2, 2001, at Parkway Hospital, Decatur, Ala.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 Wednesday at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Henry Dorn, Main Street, Plum Branch.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home, Greenwood, which is in charge.

Aggie T. Elmore
ABBEVILLE — Aggie T. Elmore, 66, of 709 Cambridge St., passed away July 1, 2001, at the home of a sister.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Isreal and Gussie Andrew Elmore. He was a retired employee of the City of Abbeville Sanitation Department and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a son, Anthony Elmore of Abbeville; a daughter, Bernice Cheatham of Greenwood; five brothers, James Elmore, Robert Elmore, Moses Elmore and Lewis Elmore, all of Abbeville and Willie Elmore of Calhoun Falls; five sisters, Emma Connor, Ethel Elmore, Gussie Elmore and Sarah Elmore, all of Abbeville and Josephine Glover of Calhoun Falls; and his stepmother, Eva Lewis Elmore of Abbeville.
The family is at the home of a sister, Emma Connor, 1103 Cambridge St.
Services will be announced by Brown and Walker Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Tony Havird
HODGES - Tony Melvin Havird, 56, of 5624 Highway 178 North, husband of Ann Horne Havird, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2001 at his home.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Broadus F. and Ozella Butler Havird. He retired from C.P.W. after 30 years of service and was a sergeant with the SC National Guard, 111th Signal Battalion. He was a member and past master of Bascomb Lodge #363 AFM and was a member of Chapter M of the GWRRA. He was a member of Hyde Park Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife of the home; a son, Jeff Havird of Hodges; three stepsons, Tony Sleister, Chip Tinsley, and Terry Tinsley, all of Hodges; two sisters, Mrs. David (Zora) Watson and Mrs. J.C. (Frankie) Snowden, both of Montgomery, AL; and five grand-children, Noel Havird, Paige Sleister, Hayden Godfrey, Seb Tinsley, and Cal Tinsley, all of Hodges.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Thurston and the Rev. Frank Thomas officiating. Burial, with Masonic rites, will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Harrison, Bob Calhoun, Gene Gamble, Kenneth Stennett, Mark Falls, and Charlie Havird.
Honorary escort will be employees of the C.P.W. Electric Department, friends of Chapter M - GWRRA, members of the Bas-comb Lodge #363 AFM, the SC National Guard, 111th Signal Battalion and members of the Hodges-Cokesbury Volunteer Fire De-partment.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorials may be made to HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.

Randy Lee Hazeltine
JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — Randy Lee Hazeltine, 43, of 110 Robley Drive, husband of Ruth Ann, passed away July 1, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
Born in Jacksonville, he was a son of Carol Kester Hazeltine and the late Richard Thomas Hazeltine.
Survivors include his wife; two stepsons, Richard Roskiewich and William Roskiewich, both of Jacksonville; a stepdaughter, Ruth Ann Spencer of Jacksonville; four brothers, Richard Hazeltine of Mercer, Pa., John Hazeltine and Keith Hazeltine, both of Jacksonville and Tracy Hazeltine, of Wilmington, N.C.; and six step-grandchildren.
Visitation is July 9 from 6-7 p.m. at the home. A memorial service is at 7:30, also at the home.
The family is at the home.

Charles Holloway
GREENWOOD — Charles Holloway passed away June 29, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Dallas and Sallie Holloway. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Denise Holloway and Diane Young, both of Greenwood; two sons, Norman Howard of Donalds and Dennis Burton of Greenwood; a sister, Pearly Mae Mosley of Buffalo, N.Y.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 Thursday in Evening Star Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Johnathan Greene.
Visitation is at the home, 113 Joel Ave., and at the home of a daughter, Kimberly Holloway, 709 Macedonia St.
Parks Funeral Home is in charge.

Buddy Reynolds
GREENWOOD — James Wallace “Buddy” Reynolds, 64, of 410 Sample Road, widower of Sybil Harvley Reynolds, passed away July 2, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late James Wallace Reynolds Sr. and Katie Bowick Reynolds. He retired from Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant, and was a member of First Damascus Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Tiller Reynolds of Greenwood; three sons, Bobby Ray Reynolds and Anthony Del Reynolds, both of Greenwood and James Kenneth Reynolds of Ware Shoals; three sisters, Ruth R. Anderson and Dorothy R. Davis, both of Greenwood and Gladys R. Hastings of Ninety Six; three brothers, Sammy Reynolds of Cross, Warren Reynolds and the Rev. Billy Joe Reynolds, both of Greenwood; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 3:30 Thursday at Harley Funeral Home by the Revs. Robert Emory and Jeff Kelly. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Mike Barton, Russell Medlock, Darren Tiller, David Sweat, Mike Steely, Dennis Reynolds, John Reynolds, and Russell Hughes.
Honorary escorts are Gary Moss, Tommy Williams, James Harris, Steve Rivers, Rusty Haynie and Joey Goldman.
Visitation is at the funeral home from 7-9 Wednesday.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Octavia Spearman, of 818 Otis Place N.W., passed away July 1, 2001.
Born in Abbeville County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Rev. Benjamin and Octavia Bryant Spearman.

Mary Alice Barnett
WOODRUFF - Mary Alice Barnett passed away July 28, 2001 at her home after a brief illness.
A native of Spartanburg County, Mrs. Barnett was a daughter of the late Arthur Floyd and Era Willis Lanford. She was the widow of the late Roland c. Barnett and attended Antioch Baptist Church. Mrs. Barnett retired from Woodruff High School after teaching 41 years. She was a teacher of the Mother's Sunday School Class, committee member of the Woodruff Area Baptist Association, and was a graduate of Woodruff High School and Winthrop College.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Terry Wayne Thompson of Mauldin, and Mary and Shell Dula of Greenwood; two sisters, Ruth L. Stoddard of Greenville and Betty Jo L. Bailey of Centerville, Ohio; two brothers, Dr. Cecil F. Lanford and James W. Lanford, both of Spar-tanburg; one granddaughter, Mary Kate Dula.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Tuesday at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Taylor and Dr. James Sloan officiating. Burial will be in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens, Woodruff.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 PM tonight at Forest Hills Funeral Home.
The body will be placed in the church at 1:00 PM.

HODGES — Eleanor Lipford Butler, widow of Rayford Butler, passed away last night at her home.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Camilla Gilbert, 122 N. Hodges School Road.

Ben Garvin Jr.
SPARTANBURG — Luther Benjamin Garvin Jr., 74, passed away July 28, 2001, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in Edgefield, he was a son of the late Luther Benjamin Garvin Sr. and Lula Lane Garvin. He retired from Spartanburg Housing Authority and was formerly with Acme Distributing Company of Spartanburg. A World War II Navy veteran, he was of the Methodist faith and a former Mason.
Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Garvin Ward of Williamston and Carol Garvin Crowe of Spartanburg; a son, Chuck Garvin of Woodbridge, Va.; a sister, Sara E. Garvin of Winter Park, Fla.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Carol Crowe, 330 Oak St., Arcadia.
Memorials may be made to Mobile Meals Service, P.O. Box 461, Spartanburg, S.C. 29304. J.F. Floyd Mortuary, Greenlawn Chapel, is in charge.

Valerie ‘Val’ Hackett
GREENWOOD — Valerie “Val” Hackett, 40, of 3-B Holman St., passed away July 29, 2001, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of Mattie White Hackett and the late John Edward Hackett. She was a 1979 Greenwood High School graduate and a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Jasmine Tiara Hackett and Catina Lavelle Hackett, both of the home; a son, John Kenard Hackett of the home; six sisters, Linda Norman of Bradley, Deborah Williams, Yolanda Williams, Christa Hackett and Janet Hackett, all of Greenwood and Kimberly Murphy of Clinton; a brother, John Hackett of Indianapolis; and a grandchild of the home, Corey J. Gilliam.
The family is at the home of a sister, Deborah Williams, 102 Sycamore Drive, McKellar Farms Community.
Services will be announced by Parks Funeral Home, which is in charge.
