GREENWOOD — Services for Cynthia Brown Gillus will be conducted at 1, June 12, 2001, at Liberty Spring Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Henry J. Meriweather.
Interment will be in the church cemetery with full military honors. The body will be placed in the church at noon Tuesday.
Visitation is from 7-9 Monday at Walker Funeral Home.
The family is at the home at 501 Haltiwanger Road, and at the home of a sister, Mary Anderson, at 1584 Walker Road in Edgefield County.

Margaret Moore Harper
GREENWOOD — Margaret Moore “Ma” Harper, 64, of 205 Marshall Circle, passed away June 9, 2001, at her home.
Born in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late Lindsey B. and Eva Sue Moore. She was retired from Greenwood Mills and was a member of Mathews United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Robert “Bobby” Harper of Greenville and Lindy B. Harper of the home; and one grandchild.
Services will be 11 Monday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Nellie Cloninger. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Jack Ritter, Bryan Hester, Randy Carter, Donald Ouzts, Alton Ouzts, Allan Davis, Bob McGinn and Obbie Harper.
Visitation is from 10-11 Sunday at Harley Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Mathews United Methodist Church or to Hospice of the Piedmont. Harley Funeral Home is in charge.

Robert Jennings Sr.
WARE SHOALS — Robert Haynes Jennings Sr., 78, husband of Kathryn Owens Jennings of 12694 Indian Mound Road, passed away June 9, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Ware Shoals, he was a son of the late Bryan and Cora McAllister Jennings. He was a member and former deacon of Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church. He was retired from Riegel Textile Corp. He was a member and Past Master of the Brewerton Masonic Lodge and a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple.
Surviving are his wife of the home; two sons, Gerald Jennings and Bob Jennings, both of Ware Shoals; two daughters, Kathy Browning of Anderson and Jan Hartline of Ware Shoals; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop and the Rev. T.T. Facuette officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The body is at Parker-White Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Monday. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 Sunday at Parker-White Funeral Home. The family is at the home.

Dick McCarthy
ABBEVILLE — James A. “Dick” McCarthy Jr., 90, of 106 Calhoun St., husband of Grace Stewart McCarthy, passed away June 8, 2001, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Services will be announced by Harris Funeral Home, which is in charge.

William T. Norman Jr.
GREENWOOD — William T. “Buddy” Norman, Jr., 67, of 2517 Highway 25 South, husband of Lois Nickles Norman, passed away June 8, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late William T. and Stella Rhodes Norman Sr. He was retired form Four-C. He was an Army veteran and a member of Tranquil United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home, a daughter, Dr. Pam Norman Davenport of Spartanburg; two sons, Tim Norman of Greenwood and Mike Norman of Sumter; one sister, Virginia Ek of Ninety Six; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Monday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Frank Copeland. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Todd Smith, Tommy Nickles, Scott Nickles, David Ek, John Ek and Don Overturf.
Honorary escorts are are Daris Reid and Terry Latham.
Visitation is today from 7-9 at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Tranquil United Methodist Church, 1702 McCormick Highway, Greenwood, S.C. 29646.

Marvin Riddle
WARE SHOALS — Marvin Ross Riddle, 78, husband of Helen Mitchell Riddle of 5286 Poplar Springs Road, passed away June 8, 2001, at Anderson Area Medical Center.
He was born in the Phoenix Community of Greenwood County, a son of the late Paul Jones and Nannie Eliabeth Worthington Riddle. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was retired from Riegel Textile Corp.
Mr. Riddle was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and Friendship Masonic Lodge No. 25 A.F.M.
Surivivng besides his wife of the home are his daughter, Vivian R. Creswell and her husband, Marty, of Bradley; a granddaughter, Dixie Rae Southerland of Bradley; one sister, Pauline Goree of Bradley.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at Poplar Springs Baptist Church at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Todd Horton, the Rev. Marion Lineburger and the Rev. Dr. Horace Benjamin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Gerald, Jimmy, Ronnie and Franklin Mitchell, Fred Mattison Jr., Jason Davis and Joe Worthington. Honorary escort will be members of the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class and the Men’s Class of Poplar Springs Baptist Church; also Earl Madden, Raymond Martin, J.E. Cooper, Otis Ross, Gerald Davis and J.B. Stewart.
The family is at the home and will receive friends at Parker-White Funeral Home Sunday, 5-7 p.m. The body will be placed in the church Monday at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 124, Ware Shoals, SC, 29692.

Willis Baker
GREENWOOD — Willis James Baker, 69, husband of Barbara McCabe Baker, passed away June 13, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Langdon, N.D., he was a son of the late Sydney and Mabel Long Baker. He was a 1957 graduate of Langdon High School, a Navy veteran of the Korean conflict and a retired employee of Ohaus Scale International. He was a member of Greenwood V.F.W. Post No. 8131, Greater Greenwood Bowling Association and the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Willis J. Baker Jr. of Huntington Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Tracy Ann Baker Elrod of Lexington; three sisters, Edna Hall of Burbank, Calif., a twin sister, Lois B. Johnson of Fargo, N.D., and Lou B. Giles of Keizer, Ore.; and a brother, Sydney Baker of Lady Lake, Fla.
Services are at 2 Saturday at Blyth Funeral Home, with the Rev. Don Elliot officiating. Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 1635 Cokesbury Road, Greenwood, S.C. 29649.

Zula Ashmore
GREENWOOD — Zula Beauford Bonds Ashmore, 92, of 1501 Phoenix Street, Lot 13, widow of Robert Ashmore, passed away June 14, 2001, at her home.
Born in McCormick County, she was a daughter of the late Sam and Mary Jane Steward Beauford. She retired from Greenwood Mills and was a charter member of South Greenwood Church of God, where she taught both children’s and adult Sunday School classes. She was first married to the late Thurmond Bonds.
Surviving are two daughters, Patsy Tiller of Greenwood and Shirley Butler of Bradley; a sister, Lula Belle Hamrick of Greenwood; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services are at 3 Sunday at South Greenwood Church of God, conducted by the Rev. Milton Hannah and the Rev. Pierce Ashmore. Burial is in Edgewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Freddy Smiley, William A. Sullivan, Robert Hawkins, Sam Burkett, Sam Beauford and Tommy Gonce.
Honorary escorts are members of the Ladies Class of the church.
Visitation is at Blyth Funeral Home tonight from 7-9.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Patsy Tiller, 747 Truett Ave.

EDGEFIELD — Mrs. Anna Belle Chinn Lee, 81, of Edgefield Health Care Center, passed away June 13, 2001.
Services are at 2 Monday at Mount Canaan Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. George L. Brightharp. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Edward Michael Zier Jr.
NORTH AUGUSTA — Edward Michael Zier Jr., 83, of Old Walnut Branch, formerly of Greenwood, husband of Lucille M. Zier, passed away June 15, 2001, at University Hospital in Augusta.
Born in New Albany, Ind., he was a graduate of Purdue University and a retired mechanical and environmental engineer with Greenwood Mills. He was a member of Acacia Masonic Lodge and North Augusta Country Club and a former member of the Lions Club, New Albany and North Augusta, and the Optimist Club. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta.
Survivors include his wife of North Augusta; two sons, Edward Michael Zier III of Marietta, Ga., and Kelly F. Zier of North Augusta; and five grandchildren.
Services are at 3 Sunday at First Baptist Church of North Augusta, conducted by Dr. Gary C. Redding. Burial is in Pineview Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Rowland Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of North Augusta, Building Fund, 602 Georgia Ave., North Augusta, S.C. 29841.

Joe Andrews
NINETY SIX — Services for Joe Andrews, of 103 Edgewood St., are at 2 Wednesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. J.W. Price, assisted by the Revs. Joseph Caldwell and Raymond Adams. Burial is in Ninety Six Community Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Pallbearers are grandsons.
Flower bearers are granddaughters.
Honorary escorts are members of Pearl Chapel Masonic Lodge No. 118.
Visitation is Tuesday evening at the home of Johnnie Ruth Forrest, 102 Posey, Greenwood.

Hardin Camp
Smith Hardin Camp, 84, resident of 713 Logan Court, passed away June 23, 2001 at his home.
Born in Greenwood, March 16, 1917, he was a son of the late Jessie Pendleton and Martha Ridley Grant Camp. Mr. Camp was married to the late Nora Willie Garren Camp for 55 years. Together they had four children. He was veteran of WWII having served in Italy near the end of the war.
In 1986, he retired as Fire Chief from the City of Greenwood Fire Department after 49 years of service. For many years he owned and operated the S.H. Camp Co., a plumbing, heating and electrical business. He was a member of the Forty and Eight as well as the American Legion Post #20 and was recently honored by his children with an engraved brick as part of the restoration project of the American Legion. He was a member of Greenwood Masonic Lodge #91 AFM and through the years had coached many through their degrees of Masonic work.
A lifetime member of Main Street United Methodist Church, he was also a member of the Featherstone Sunday School Class and formerly served on many church committees. He was predeceased by his oldest son, Joe Hardin Camp who was married to Kathryn Embler Camp Horne.
He is survived by three of his children and their families: William Garren Camp and his wife Denise Camp of Greenwood; Ann Camp McCune and her husband William Christopher McCune, Jr. of Greenwood; and Jennie Camp Hudgins and her husband James Keith Hudgins of Columbia; a brother, William Marshall ŇJackÓ and his wife Patsy Camp of Cordova, Tennessee. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, Joe Hardin Camp Jr.; Andrew Embler Camp, his wife Angela and their daughter Katie; Charles William Camp; Michael Hamilton Camp; William Grant Camp and his wife Michelle; Paul Jordan Camp; David Cassiday Camp; William Christopher McCune, III; Elizabeth Ann McCune; John Paul McCune, Perrin Elizabeth Stockman and her son Izaiah; Andrew Carl Stockman; Thomas Keith Hudgins; and Martha Jennie Hudgins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday at Main Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Jenkins and Rev. Ken Timmerman officiating.
Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary Escort will be active and retired employees of the Greenwood Fire Department who served with Chief Camp during his many years there and the Featherstone Sunday School Class of the church along with Steve Brown and Travis Higginbotham. The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 10 AM Tuesday. The family will receive friends at the home on Logan Court following the service on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646 or to Main Street United Methodist Church, 211 Main Street N. Greenwood, SC 29646.
