GREENWOOD — Clio King Strickland, 87, of Hillcrest Farm Road, widow of J.J. Strickland, passed away June 29, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital. Born in Washington , Ga., she was a daughter of the late James E. and Mona Blalock King. She was a member of Rock Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a brother, Edward King of Green Valley, Ariz.; and two sisters, Elizabeth K. Styron and Annie Ruth K. Rush, both of Greenwood. Graveside services will be conducted at 3 today in Rock Presbyterian Church Cemetery by the Rev. Bill Quarles. Memorials may be made to Rock Presbyterian Church, 122 Rock Church Road N.W., Greenwood, S.C. 29649. Family members are at their respective homes. Blyth Funeral Home is in charge.

Janie Mae Turner
ABBEVILLE — Services for Janie Mae Turner, formerly of 125 Harrisburg St., will be conducted at 4 Sunday at St. James A.M.E. Church by the Rev. James E. Thompson. Burial is in Harbison Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 3. Pallbearers are family friends. Flower bearers are members of the stewardess board of the church and family friends. The family is at the home of her daughter, Seleda Mims, 721 Secession Ave. Brown and Walker Funeral Home is in charge.

Henrietta Burton
ABBEVILLE — Henrietta Burton, 68, of 104 Dutchman Road, wife of Robert Burton, passed away June 1, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Services will be announced by Abbeville Mortuary, which is in charge.

Carlton Smith
ABBEVILLE — Preston Carlton Smith, 70, of 21 Preston Drive, husband of Peggy Leroy Smith, passed away June 1, 2001, at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Ernest and Helen Ashley Smith. He was a retired construction supervisor, working with Threat Michael Construction Co. of Greenville and Ben Jones Construction Co. of Abbeville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Steve Smith of Level Land and Jason Haskins of the home; three daughters, Lisa Isbell of Anderson, Jennifer Smith of the home and Debbie Hawthorne of Level Land; a sister, Jean S. Minor of Due West; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Monday at Pruitt Funeral Home, Honea Path, conducted by the Revs. Tommy Alewine and Michael Payne. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery of Anderson. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, S.C. 29605. Pruitt Funeral Home is in charge.

Geneva Stalk
BRONX, N.Y. — Geneva Stalk, 88, of 920 Trinity Ave., Apt. 2F, passed away May 26, 2001.
Born in Coronaca, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Mary Jane Felt Ligon. She was a house keeper and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She also attended the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Manhattan, N.Y.
Survivors include a sister, Nettie Bell Shedrick of Bronx, N.Y.; and a brother, George Ligon Sr. of Hodges.
Graveside services will be at 1 Monday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Coronaca, conducted by the Rev. William Lee.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at Parks Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of her brother, 1223 Miller Road, Cokesbury.
Parks Funeral Home is in charge.

Austin Ballew
GREENWOOD — Henry Austin Ballew, 84, of 227 Sample Road, husband of Juanita Bowen Ballew, passed away June 7, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Delma Baughman
ABBEVILLE - Delma Cooper Baughman, 71, resident of 592 Hwy. 20 widow of John William "Billy" Baughman Sr. passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2001 at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville County, SC she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Alice Bannister Cooper.
She was a retired Nutritionist with GLEAMS Headstart. She was also a member of the Pilot Club. She was a member of Main St. United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Susanna Wesley Circle.
Survivors are: three sons - John W. "Bill" Baughman Jr., Abbeville, SC; Arthur Barry Baughman, Dalton, GA; W. Bryan Baugh-man, Abbeville, SC; grandchildren - Brad, Blake, Brandy, Lauren, Sally, Joshua, Jeremy, Adam and John III Baughman; great-grandchildren - HeidiAnn and Bailey Baugh-man.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 7, 2001 at 4:00 PM from Main St. United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Pickens officiating. The burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The body is at the Harris Funeral Home. The family received at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Baughman, 405 Chestnut St. Wednesday evening after 5:00 PM. The body will be placed in the church at 3:00 PM Thursday.
Memorials may be made to Main St. United Methodist Church, 300 N. Main St., Abbeville, SC 29620 or to The Boy's Home of the South.
The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Baughman, 405 Chestnut St., Abbeville, SC.

Booker T. Bowie Jr.
GREENWOOD — Booker T. Bowie Jr., 55, of 103 Gilbert St., passed away June 7, 2001, at his home.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Booker T. and Mattie Gaskin Bowie Sr. He was a member of Piney Grove A.M.E. Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Doreen Calliham of Greenville and Lateka Watson of Greenwood; three brothers, Willie Bowie, Curtis Bowie and Doug Christopher, all of Greenwood; six sisters, Emma Robinson of Ninety Six, Rosetta Moore of Philadelphia, Mattie Mae Richardson of New York, Bennie Mae Bowie of Greenwood, Ernestine Hill of Detroit and Frances Melby of Washington , D.C.; and four grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

Ulysses Bryant Jr.
HODGES — Ulysses Bryant Jr., 77, of 925 Dixie Drive, husband of Mary Emma Peterson Bryant, passed away June 7, 2001, at his home.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Ulysses Bryant Sr. and Annie Lee Hall Bryant. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Greenwood, where he was a senior choir member and a former Martin Luther King Choir member.
Survivors include his wife of the home; four sons, Ronald Reginald Bryant of the home, Lawrence Kenneth Bryant of Greenville and Glenn Darrell Bryant and Harun Jihad Bilal Bryant, both of Detroit; two daughters, Mrs. Andre (Anita Renea) Hamilton of Southfield, Mich., and Mrs. Willie (Ulrica Selina) Smith of Grosse Pointe, Mich.; four brothers, Leroy Bryant and Issac Bryant, both of Greenwood, Julian Bryant of Alexandria, Va., and Rubin Bryant of Jamaica, N.Y.; four sisters, Dollie Mae Parker Alexander of Greenwood, Annie Ruth Marshburn of Oxen Hill, Md., Leola Swinger of Washington , D.C., and Elizabeth Jones of Detroit; 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

GREENWOOD — Harriet Todd Gallant, 91, of 18 Royal Oak Villas, widow of Paul M. Gallant, passed away June 7, 2001, at her home.

NINETY SIX — Richard Ray Wells, 22, of 2213 Island Ford Road, son of Johnny and Gayle McKelley Price, passed away June 6, 2001, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Visitation is from 7-9 Friday at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of his grandmother, Gertrude McKelley, 106 Hillside Drive, Greenwood.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home, which is in charge.

John David Williams
GREENWOOD — Services for John David Williams, of Bonds Community Residence, Jenkins Spring Road, will be at 1 Saturday at Belmont Baptist Church, Silverstreet, conducted by the Rev. Freddie Wicker Jr., pastor, assisted by the Revs. Richard Crump and Joe Redden. Burial is in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon.
Pallbearers are Michael McMorris, Andrew McMorris, Roth Williams, Damien Nickles, Ronnie Shelton and Walter Sheppard.
Flower bearers are members of the usher board of the church.
Visitation is from 7-8 Friday at Robinson & Son Mortuary.
The family is at the home of a brother, Willie J. Williams, 3315 Cokesbury Road, Hodges.

Walter Lee Wims
GREENWOOD — Walter Lee Wims, 77, of 314 Sample Road, husband of Lillie Belle Wims, passed away June 6, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Lincolnton, Ga., he was a son of the late Ida Mae Jones Wims and Marcus Wims. Retired from the Air Force with 30 years of service, he was a member of Milway Baptist Church, Bradley, and a former member of Galilee Baptist Church, Washington , D.C.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a stepdaughter, Rosemary Ryans; two nephews reared in the home, Willie Holmes and David Holmes, both of Washington , D.C.; six step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services, with full military rites, are at 4 Saturday at Milway Baptist Church, Bradley, conducted by the Rev. Lonnie Jones, pastor. Burial is in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 3.
Pallbearers are members of the military.
Flower bearers are nieces.
Visitation is Friday evening at the home.

Harold Biumi
WARE SHOALS — Harold Biumi, 63, of 123 Hill Estates, husband of Norma Jean Dorn Biumi, passed away June 3, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
Born in Long Island, N.Y., he was a self-employed painter.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three stepsons, Marion Stewart, Steve Stewart and Thomas Stewart, all of Greenwood; 11 step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at a later date.
The family is at the home of Marion and Tammy Stewart, 2220 Montague Ave., Lot 98, Greenwood.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Laurens County, P.O. Box 178, Clinton, S.C. 29325. Parker-White Funeral Home is in charge.

Sarah E. Cowan
CALHOUN FALLS — Sarah Elizabeth Cowan, 70, of 209 Lee St., Apt. 11, widow of Edward Cowan, passed away June 3, 2001, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Mount Carmel, she was a daughter of the late Duck and Callie Williams Barton. She attended McCormick and Abbeville county schools. A homemaker, she was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and the Ladies Home Aide Society.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Wideman of Calhoun Falls; a brother, Marcus Williams of Upper Marlboro, Md.; a sister, Addie Mae Gibson of Boone, N.C.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are at 1 Saturday at Springfield Baptist Church of Calhoun Falls, conducted by the Rev. Johnnie Waller, pastor. Burial is in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon.
Visitation is at the home.
Friendly Funeral Home is in charge.

Danny ‘Dusty’ Webb
SALUDA — Danny “Dusty” Webb, 49, passed away June 1, 2001.
Born in Saluda County, he was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He attended Saluda County public schools and graduated from Dunbar High School, Washington , D.C.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Charlie M. Webb and Thomas “Rigg” Abney; three sons, John Webb, Charlie Webb and Lenny Webb; and a sister, Pandora Williams, all of Washington , D.C.
Services are at 2 Saturday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Family viewing is from 7-8 Friday at Logan Funeral Home.
