Dorothy M. Paul
DONALDS — Dorothy Mae Walker Paul, 69, of 3271 Olin L. Smith Road, passed away March 10, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Asheville, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Rice Walker. She was a member of Mt. Olive AME church, where she was past President of the Usher Board and a member of the church school. She was employed with Abbeville Manufacturing, Erskine College and Riegel Textiles in Ware Shoals.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Lucille Walker and Dollie Diane Dixon, both of Honea Path, S.C. and Betty Watley of the home; a son, Minister Cleveland Walker of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three brothers, Eugene Walker of Newark, N.J., Thomas L. Smith of Honea Path and Bobby Walker of Donalds; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 Monday at Mt. Olive AME Church, conducted by Rev. John C. Aiken.
Visitation is from 2-3 Monday at Mt. Olive AME Church. The family is at the home.
Robinson-Walker Funeral Service, Ware Shoals, is in charge.

Helen Ross
GREENWOOD — Helen Ross, 91, of 1110 Marshal Road, widow of Stanley Ross, passed away March 10, 2001, at Wesley Commons.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Jim Sizemore
HONEA PATH — James Brewer Sizemore, 74, of 695 Tornado Road, widower of Linda Hatcher Sizemore, passed away March 9, 2001, at his home.
Born in Elberton, Ga., he was a son of the late John D. and Nuna Jones Sizemore. He was a member of Keowee Baptist Church and the Honea Path Senior Citizens. He was a veteran of the Navy, having served in WWII and Korea. He was retired from Dixie Container Co. Survivors include three sons, James D. Sizemore of Anderson, John M. Sizemore of Abbeville and Jeffery Sizemore of Laurens; two daughters, Connie Wells of Donalds and Jewel Bowie of Abbeville; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 today at Pruitt Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Ralph Carter. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories. Visitation is from 1-3 today at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Connie Wells, Shoal’s Junction Road, Donalds.
Pruitt Funeral Home is in charge.

John C. Teague
LAURENS — John Clayton Teague, 83, of Route 2, Chappells, passed away March 10, 2001, at NHC of Laurens.
Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Edgar W. and Josephine Teague. He was a retired Dairy Farmer, anArmy Veteran of WWII and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Teague was the last surviving member of his immediate family and is survived by nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 2 Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Elford Roof.
Visitation is from 7-8 Monday evening at Ramey Funeral Home in Saluda.
Ramey Funeral Home is in charge.

Syheem Lavon Bryant
GREENWOOD — Syheem Lavon Bryant, infant son of Robert and Dorothy Jean Simon Bryant of 712 Taggart St., passed away March 10, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Greenwood County Oct. 16, 2000.
Survivors include his parents; a sister, Tieashia Bryant of the home; two brothers, Ryheem Bryant and Demarious Bryant, both of the home; maternal grandparents, Nathaniel and Dorothy Ann Simon of Greenwood; and grandmother, Irene Bryant of Mount Carmel.
The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Simon, 131 Russell Ave.
Services will be announced by Brown and Walker Funeral Home, Abbeville, which is in charge.

Peggy T. Cronic

MYRTLE BEACH — Peggy T. Cronic, 66, of 5897 S. King Highway, Lakewood Camp Resort, formerly of Belle Meade, Greenwood, wife of H. Ray Cronic, passed away March 11, 2001, at her home.
The family is at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Noble, 122 Westgate Drive, and Mr. and Mrs. J. Wess Brown Jr., 103 Lacy Court, Hunters Creek, both in Greenwood.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home, Greenwood, which is in charge.

ANTREVILLE — Leon Luther Gable Jr., 71, of 789 Lake Secession Road, husband of Mildred Roberts Gable, passed away March 11, 2001, at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Services will be announced by Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville, which is in charge.

Elsie Hovis
WARE SHOALS — Elsie Free Hovis, 77, of 11 Cedar St., widow of James M. Hovis, passed away March 11, 2001.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Marion and Josephine Arrington Free. She retired from FL Aerospace and was a member of Ware Shoals Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include a son, James Henry Hovis of Ware Shoals; a stepdaughter, Margaret White of Maryland; a brother, Edward Free of Ware Shoals; two sisters, Vivian Babb of Ware Shoals and Annie Morgan of Charlotte, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ware Shoals Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Revs. Mark Kennedy, James Tollison and Ira Crocker. The body will be placed in the church at 10. Burial will be in Ware Shoals Cemetery.
Pallbearers are nephews.
Honorary escorts are members of the Ladies Bible Class of the church.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Parker-White Funeral Home.

Horace Kirkland
REENWOOD — Horace Kirkland, 73, of 221 Ware St., widower of Bertha Mae Jones Kirkland, passed away March 12, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Visitation is from 7-9 Tuesday at Harley Funeral Home. The family is at the home of a daughter, Phyllis Miller, 1022 Ninety Six Highway.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home, which is in charge.

GREENWOOD — Services for Julius “Tom” Logan Jr., of 202 Crawford Ave., will be at 3 Wednesday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Coronaca, conducted by the Rev. Bernard White, pastor, assisted by Revs. Jonathan Green, Matthew Johnson, Faye Johnson and Otis Cunningham. The body will be placed in the church at 2. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Matthew Williams, David Anderson, Sammie Robinson, Frank Henderson Jr., Demetrius Andrews and Robert Mitchell.
Flower bearers are nieces, cousins, Elaine Williams, Loray Norman, Linda Jackson and Keleash Jackson.

Born in Chicago, she was a retired operator with AT&T. Survivors include a son, Richard Ross of Moraga, Calif.; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be at 4 today in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Ken Timmerman.
Family members are at their respective homes.

Mary C. Steifle
ABBEVILLE — Mary Cheshire Steifle, 84, of 104 Byrnes Ave., widow of Neil C. Steifle Sr., passed away March 10, 2001, at her home.
Born in Union, she was a daughter of the late Allan W. and Mary Ligon Cheshire. She was a graduate of Union High School and a member of Abbeville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a son, Neil C. Steifle Jr. of Greenwood; a brother, Allen Cheshire of Belton; and two grandchildren.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Randy T. Ruble at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Abbeville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. The body will be placed in the church at 10. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Harris Funeral Home. The family is at the home.

CHESTER — Janie Melton Thomas, 72, of 2106 Pinckney Road, wife of Alvin Dean Thomas, passed away March 9, 2001, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.
Born in Chester, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Cora Dodds Melton. She was a member of Wilksburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; three sons, Eddie Thomas, Doug Thomas and Shorty Thomas, all of Chester; a daughter, Mrs. Debra T. Hyatt of Chester; three brothers, Ed Melton and Warren Melton, both of Chester and Richard Melton of Greenwood; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 today at Wilksburg Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Elton Hunter, Chris Snelgrove and Joey Beasley. Burial will be in Armenia United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Born in Greenwood County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late George and Eliza Crenshaw Cunningham.
Survivors include a son, Henry Williams of the home; and a sister, Hattie Bolden of Greenwood.
Services will be Thursday in Philadelphia.
