Anne G. Rockwell
ORANGEBURG — Anne G. Rockwell, 83, formerly of 691 Gue Road, widow of Eugene Rockwell, passed away March 21, 2001, at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center in Laurens.
Born in Newark, N.J., she was a member of the Church of the Redeemer, Orangeburg.
Survivors include a daughter, Judith B. Rockwell of Columbia; a son, Jeffery C. Rockwell of Greenwood; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery, Orangeburg, conducted by the Rev. Debra Quilling.
Family members are at their respective homes.

Viola Tyree
GREENWOOD — Viola Jackson Tyree, 91, of Eden Gardens, widow of James Thomas Tyree, passed away March 19, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Beattyville, Ky., she was a daughter of the late Robert B. and Lillie Sizemore Jackson. She graduated from Lee County High School and Eastern Kentucky University, Richmond, Ky., and formerly taught in the public schools of Beattyville and Big Rapids, Mich. Formerly of Venice, Fla., and Big Rapids, she had lived in Greenwood since 1997. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne T. Van Bramer of Greenwood; and a brother, Robert B. Jackson of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
Services and burial will be in Beattyville.
Visitation is at Blyth Funeral Home from 6-7 tonight.
The family is at the home of the daughter, Suzanne Van Bramer.
Memorials may be made a charity of one’s choice.
Blyth Funeral Home is in charge.

Mary Harriett Fuller
McCORMICK — Mary Harriett Fuller, of 709 Augusta St., wife of Thomas Fuller, passed away March 20, 2001, at her home.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of Sammie Cathrine Burton Jones and the late John Bradley Jones Sr. She was a former member of Washington Street Presbyterian Church and attended McCormick United Methodist Church. A 1955 graduate of J.S. Wright High School, Abbeville, she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Mudelin University, Chicago. She retired as a media specialist from Evanston, Ill., public schools and worked as a media specialist at McCormick High School. She was also former director of the Abbeville Public Library and a board member with Abbeville/McCormick Habitat for Humanity.
Survivors include her mother of Abbeville; her husband of Evanston, Ill.; two daughters, Hazell Fuller Jenkins of Atlanta and Toni Fuller Ricks of Evanston; a sister, Doris J. Black of Abbeville; three brothers, Robert L. Jones of Evanston, Bradley Jones Jr. of Atlanta and Franklin Jones of Los Angeles; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home of a sister, Mrs. Hayward Black, 203 Cedar Lane, Abbeville.
Services will be announced by Brown and Walker Funeral Home, Abbeville, which is in charge.

Ronald Girard
BLYTHEWOOD — Ronald John Girard, 51, of 1015 Hyman Lane, husband of Janet Gulledge Girard, passed away March 23, 2001, at the VA Medical Center in Columbia.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Virginia Morton New
McCORMICK — Services for Virginia Morton New, of South Oak Street, will be at 2 Sunday at New Hope Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. J.C. Williams. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Pallbearers are nephews.
Flower bearers are nieces.
The family is at 515 S. Oak St.
Walker Funeral Home is in charge.

Linda Reese
GREENWOOD — Linda Cordell Reese, 59, of 133 E. Creek Road, wife of C. Robert Reese, passed away March 21, 2001, at Baptist Medical Center in Columbia.
Born in Elberton, Ga., she was a daughter of Willie Powell Cordell and the late J.T. Cordell. She graduated from Greenwood High School and received her bachelor’s degree in pharmacy in 1966 from the University of South Carolina. She was co-owner of Parrish Pharmacy in Greenwood, a member of Greenwood Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church and a member of the South Carolina Pharmaceutical Association, Eighth District Chapter.
Survivors include her husband of the home; her mother of Greenwood; a son, Chad Reese of Greenwood; and a brother, Jimmy Cordell of Greenwood; and three grandchildren.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. Don Elliott at 2 Saturday at Greenwood Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Pallbearers are Bill Parrish, Winton Crawford, Larry Powell, Joel Crawford, David Powell, Marshall Cordell, Julius Gabriel, Charles Hopkins and Thom Tyner.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home in Chinquapin.
Memorials may be made to the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society of America, S.C. Chapter, 1247 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, S.C. 29063.

Emmie Still Ross
GREENVILLE — Emmie Still Ross, 92, formerly of Pendleton Manor, widow of J. Clyde Ross, passed away March 22, 2001, at National Health Care in Clinton.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Bryant M. and Lula Hall Still. She graduated from Phoenix School in Greenwood County, attended Spartanburg Business College and was formerly employed by the Soil Conservation Service Regional Office in Spartanburg. She was a member of Pendleton Street Baptist Church, where she was a member of Famy Parks Sunday School Class, Women’s Missionary Union and Circle No. 2.
She was the last member of her immediate family. Survivors include a niece and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted by the Rev. Ellis Beddingfield at 2 Saturday in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Jesse Simpkins
EDGEFIELD — Jesse Simpkins, 63, of 220 Glover St., passed away March 21, 2001, at his home.
Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. James (Mary Lucy) Patten of Edgefield and Lillie Mae Williams of Washington , D.C.; and two brothers, Robert Simpkins and Alvin Simpkins, both of Washington , D.C.
Services will be at 3 Sunday at Freedom Temple United Church of God, conducted by Elder Mattie P. Cheatham. Burial will be in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Johnston.
The family is at the home.
G.L. Brightharp and Sons Mortuary is in charge.

Garnell Whatley
GREENWOOD — Services for Garnell Whatley, of 620 Taggart St., daughter of the late Johnny and Ida Lee Jacobs Whatley, will be at 2 Sunday at Old Mount Zion Baptist Church, Epworth, conducted by the Rev. Clyde Cannon. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are trustees of the church.
Flower bearers are members of the Missionary Society.
Visitation is Saturday at the home of her sister, Johnnie Mae Whatley, 618 Taggart St.
Robinson and Son Mortuary Inc. is in charge.

Furman M. Baldwin
McCORMICK — Mr. Furman M. Baldwin, 64, widower of Mrs. Betty Jean Baldwin, passed away March 22, 2001 in Chicago, Ill.
Born in McCormick, he was a son of Mrs. Penscola Sullivan Baldwin and the late Henry Baldwin. He was a former member of Holy Spring Baptist Church and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his daughter, Shelia G. Bryant of Dothan, Ala.; two sons, Furman Baldwin Jr. and Terry Baldwin, both of Evanston, Ill.; three sisters, Betty Frazier and Evelyn Johnson, both of McCormick and Doris Jenkins of Riverdale, Ga.; three brothers, Matthew Baldwin of Riverdale, Ga., Rudolph Baldwin of McCormick and Barry Baldwin of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be announced by Walker Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Lib Buckner
GREENWOOD — Elizabeth “Lib” Pickell Buckner, 58, of 406 Stroud Court, wife of Thomas V. “Buck” Buckner, passed away March 23, 2001 at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of Martha Nabors Pickell and the late John Frank Pickell. She was a 1960 graduate of Greenwood High School and was a graduate of Lander College where she received her Associates Degree in Nursing. She was a retired registered nurse from Self Memorial Hospital. She was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home and her mother of Greenwood.
Services will be at 2 today at Blyth Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dave Patterson. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Alvine Johnson, Chuck Bailey, Tommy Clydemeier, Charles Clydemeier, Josh Thomas, Ed Pulliam and Jeff Montjoy.
The family is at the home of her mother, 212 Beechwood Circle.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Greenwood Unit, P.O. Box 1741, Greenwood, SC 29648.

Robert B. Butler
WARE SHOALS — Robert B. Butler Jr., 78, husband of Mary O’Sheilds Butler, passed away March 24, 2001.
Born in Clinton, he was a son of the late Robert B. “Red” Butler Sr. and Maude Handback Butler. He was retired from Mount Vernon Mills.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son Danny Ray Butler of Ware Shoals; two daughters, Robbie McAllister of Ware Shoals and Helen O’Dell of Hodges; two step-daughters, Susie Boggs and Norma Stewart, both of Ware Shoals; four brothers, Calvin Butler of Dalls, Ga., Allen Butler of Atlanta, Raymond Butler of Laurens and Dan O’Dell Butler of Ware Shoals; five half-brothers, Frankie, Pete, Freddie, Eddie and Donnie Butler, all of Atlanta; three half-sisters, Brenda and Donna Butler and Lucy Harris, all of Atlanta; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 Monday at Ware Shoals Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Revs. Mark Kennedy and Ray Boggs. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church at 12 noon on Monday. Pallbearers are Bennie Vaughn, Floyd Hampton, Jimmy Ray Madden, Herman McGee, Dennis Henderson and Ken Butler. Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Parker White Funeral Home.
The family is at 8B Greenacres Drive, Ware Shoals.

Henry F. Deer
GREENWOOD — Henry Foster Deer Sr., 59, of 1107 Northlake Drive, husband of Margie Duffie Deer, passed away March 24, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was a son of Philemenia Festa and the late Clyde Rodgers Deer. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife and mother of Pittsburgh; a son, Henry R. Deer Jr. of Aiken; a daughter, Tamara Srinivasan of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Marlene Bertolo of Atlanta; two brothers, Clyde R. Deer of Pittsburgh, Pa. and James S. Deer of Wayne, N.J.; and a grandchild.
Services will be at 1 Monday at Eastside Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. E.A. Cooper and James Boling.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 12 noon on Monday.
Pallbearers are David and Brian Duffie, Mark and Donnie Bertolo, Joey Duffie and Garnet Lathum.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Harley Funeral Home. The family is at the home.

James Fuller
EDGEFIELD — James Fuller, 73, of 242 Carroll St., husband of Georgia Mae Landrum Fuller, passed away March 23, 2001, at University Hospital.
Born in Edgefield County, he was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Vernell Bolton of Alexandria, Va.; a son, Robert Landrum of Edgefield; and five grandchildren.
Services will be announced by G.L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary, which is in charge.

Ronald Girard
BLYTHEWOOD — Ronald John Girard, 50, of 1015 Hyman Lane, husband of Janet Gulledge Girard, passed away March 23, 2001 at the VA Medical Center in Columbia.
Born in Manchester, N.H., he was a son of the late Herman F. and Marie Angie Rose Boudreau Girard. He was an Army veteran of Vietnam and was a graduate of Piedmont Technical College. He was employed in residential and commercial construction.
Survivors include is wife of the home; a son, Ronald Jason Girard of Blythewood, two daughters, Amy Catherine Girard of Columbia and Melissa Leigh Girard of the home; six brothers, Maurice H. Girard of Suncook, N.H., Gilbert Girard of Manchester, N.H., Roger Girard of Winter Haven, Fla., Paul Girard of Candia, N.H., Edward Girard of Pembroke, N.H., David Girard of Goffstown, N.H.; four sisters, Lorraine Columbe of Phoenix, Ariz., Dorothy Gancarz of Manchester, N.H., Lucille Roy of Allenstown, N.H. and Patricia Moran of Pembroke, N.H.
Services will be at 2 Tuesday at Oakbrook Memorial Park Chapel, conducted by Dr. Tommy Cartledge and Father Richard Harris. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice or to The Walker Foundation, SC School for the Deaf and Blind, 355 Cedar Springs Road, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
