Lyle Grant Hartung
WILKESBORO, N.C. — Lyle Grant Hartung, 64, passed away March 22, 2001, at his home.
Born in Detroit, Mich., he was a son of the late James Mark and Marion Beeman Hartung.
Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Hartung Mangan of Fremont, Calif.; four sons, Thomas Hartung of Clemmons, N.C., Scott William Hartung of Orlando, Fla., Collen Mary Hartung of Roanoke, Va. and Andrew “Andy” Joseph Patrick Hartung of Greenwood; and a grandson.
Services were Saturday, March 24, 2001 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, conducted by the Rev. Joseph N. Schumacher.
Memorials may be made to New Life Mobility Assistance Dogs, P.O. Box 659, Moravian Falls, NC 28654.

Edgar Seigler
McCORMICK — Edgar Seigler, 65, of Lot No. 7 McCormick Camp Club, husband of Elsie P. Seigler, passed away March 23, 2001 at Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Seigler was a retired agent with Independent Life Insurance for 38 years, served in the National Guard and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Shprinzy S. Kiehart of McCormick and Cindy S. Adams of Greenwood; and a grandson.
Graveside services will be at 11 Monday at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Chip Tant.
Pallbearers are Wayne Beggs, Lewis Ramsey, Lamar Timms, Leroy Terrell, Jake Trantham and Lemuel Zellars.
Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Boozer, Earl Collier, LeRoy Martin, Jordan Printup, Claude Sims, Tim Walker and Barney Zellars.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Rees Funeral Home, Lincolnton.
Friends may call at the residence of Shprinzy S. Kiehart, Lot No. 89, New Bordeaux Subdivision, McCormick.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.

EDGEFIELD — Services for Jesse Simpkins, 63, of 220 Glover St., will be at 3 today at Freedom Temple United Church of God, conducted by Elder Mattie P. Cheatham. Burial will be in the Sunset Garden Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church at 2 today.
Visitation is at 2:15 at the resident, 220 Glover St.

Lizer Jane Williams
HODGES — Lizer Jane Williams, 100, of Route 2, Box 410, widow of David H. “Bish” Williams, passed away March 24, 2001, at McCormick Health Care.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Doc and Rachel Ware Weston. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a former mother of the church, Sunday School Teacher, church missionary and member of the Senior Choir. She was also a member of the Women’s Aide Society No. 91.
Survivors include 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was the last survivor of her immediate family.
The family is at the home of a niece, Bennie Cason, 115 Indian Branch Road, Hodges.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Sons Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

Nellie M. Culbertson
GRAY COURT — Nellie Gertrude Martin Culbertson, 97, of 2392 Hellams Road, widow of William B. Culbertson, passed away March 25, 2001.
Born in Laurens, she was a daughter of the late Willie G. and Mary Logan Martin. She was a homemaker and a member of Laurens Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include five daughters, Sara C. Davis of Saluda, Ruby Moore of Waterloo, Jean Vaughn of Gray Court and Dorothy Sisk and Bonita Ziegenfuss, both of Laurens; two sons, William B. Culbertson and Marcus Culbertson, both of Laurens; 22 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 Wednesday at Kennedy Mortuary, Laurens, conducted by the Rev. John D. Compton and the Rev. Bryant Sims. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Coronaca.
Visitation is from 7-8:30 Tuesday at the mortuary.
The families are at the home of Jean and Thomas Vaughn, 2392 Hellams Road and Marcus and Christine Culbertson, 6398 Highway 252, Laurens.
Kennedy Mortuary, Laurens, is in charge.

Mary Harriett Fuller
McCORMICK — Services for Mary Harriett Fuller, of 709 Augusta St., will be conducted by the Rev. Donald O. Clendaniel II at 2 Tuesday at St. Paul Church of God Holiness, Abbeville. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial will be in Harbison Cemetery.
The family is at the home of a sister, Mrs. Hayward (Doris J.) Black, 203 Cedar Lane, Abbeville.
Brown and Walker Funeral Home, Abbeville, is in charge.

Patricia Ann Humphrey
HODGES — Services for Patricia Ann Humphrey, of 1523 Shirley Road, will be at 3 Tuesday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Bernard White. The body will be placed in the church at 2. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are cousins and members of Ware Shoals High School Class of 1976.
Visitation is at the home.

Carrie Reddick
McCORMICK — Carrie Reddick, 94, of National Health Care, Greenwood, formerly of McCormick, widow of Will Reddick, passed away March 24, 2001.
Born in McCormick County, she was a daughter of the late Rose Williams Jennings and Walter Jennings. She attended McCormick schools and was a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church and Cedar Spring and New Hope Burial Aid Societies.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Anna Chamberlain of Chicago; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Tuesday at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, Parksville, conducted by the Rev. Ernest M. Gordon. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family is at the home of a daughter-in-law, Minnie Bell Reddick, Bryant Street, McCormick.
McCormick Memorial Chapel is in charge.

Myrtle B. Willis
GREENWOOD — Myrtle B. Willis, 75, passed away March 25, 2001, at Wesley Commons Health Care Center.
Born in Mooresboro, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Willis. She retired from Greenwood Mills and was a member of Abney Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane Noffz and Kathy Stockman, both of Greenwood; a son, Larry Wright of Greenwood; two sisters, Frances Jones of Greenwood and Jackie Wright of Asheboro, N.C.; a brother, Bobby Willis of Gastonia, N.C.; five grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. Billy Williams at 3 Tuesday at Harley Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Chris Byrd, Dewey Cook, William Meece, Jerry Cooper, Len Wright, James Johnson, Carroll Noffz and Jimmy Powers.
Honorary escorts are members of Abney Memorial Baptist Church.
Visitation is from 1:30-3 Tuesday at the funeral home. The family is at the home of a daughter, Diane Noffz, 211 Salak Road.

John A. Beasley
WARE SHOALS — John Albert Beasley, 81, of Harmony Church Road, husband of Tiny Bryant Beasley, passed away March 26, 2001, at his home.
Born in Donalds, he was a son of the late William Joseph and Mary Agnes Hill Beasley. He retired from Chiquola Mills, served in the Army during World War II and was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church, Princeton Masonic Lodge 129 and Rabbits Unlimited.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two brothers, Charles Horace Beasley and Floyd Presley Beasley, both of Donalds; and four sisters, Ola Mae Chapman of St. Petersburg, Fla., Frances Beasley of Trenton and Ruby Inez Clinkscales and Judy Faye Mitchell, both of Donalds.
Services will be at 3 today at Harmony United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Michael Bingham. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Keith Bryant, James Bryant, Mike Beasley, Mark Beasley, Stacy Mitchell, Bryan Mitchell, Bob Clinkscales, Jerry Bryant and William Woods.
Honorary escorts are members of the Men’s Sunday School Class. Visitation is from 1-2:30 today at Parker-White Funeral Home. The family is at the home.

Maxie Davis
GREENWOOD — Maxie Joseph Davis, 66, of 841 Sunset Drive, husband of Joan Priscilla Lewis Davis, passed away March 26, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Walhalla, he was a son of the late Willie Marvin and Lois Gillespie Davis. He was an employee of Ivesters Electric, Greenville, and a Navy veteran of the Korean conflict. He was Methodist.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Denise Attaway of Greenwood; a sister, Betty Brooks of Honea Path; a brother, Fred Davis of Brea, Calif.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. Ken Timmerman at 2:30 Thursday at Harley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Ronnie Corley, James Timms, Marion McDaniel, Rodney Ouzts, Whitt Coker, Cale Attaway and Henry Davis.
Visitation is from 7-9 Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.

Lois Phelps
NINETY SIX — Lois Clark Phelps, 82, of 207 Dukes St., widow of J.B. “George” Phelps, passed away March 26, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late John Robert and Julia Shirley Clark. She attended Ninety Six schools and retired from Greenwood Mills, Ninety Six Plant. A member of Temple Baptist Church, she was also a member of the TEL Sunday School Class of the church and Greenwood Mills Quarter Century Club.
Survivors include a son, Dwayne Phelps of Ninety Six; a brother, John Vernon Clark of Ninety Six; and three sisters, Mildred Clark, Margie Rushton and Doris Attaway, all of Greenwood.
Graveside services will be at 3 Wednesday in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Milton Stubblefield.
Pallbearers are Bob Rushton, Don Rushton, Eddie Fain, Mike Calhoun, Billy Rush and Keith McIntosh.
Honorary escorts are Charles McCall, Jimmy Willingham, Jimmy Buchanan, Dr. Walter Clark, Bill Voiselle and Wayne Cullens.
Visitation is at the cemetery after the services.
The family is at the home.

Asa Rapley
ABBEVILLE — Asa Rapley, 56, of 1848 Old Douglas Mill Road, husband of Alice Jackson Rapley, passed away March 26, 2001, at Aiken Regional Medical Center.
Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Horace Clifton Rapley Sr., and Othella McGee Rapley. A retired employee of Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant, and a graduate of Piedmont Technical College, he was a member and Past Master of Dreher Lodge 370. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Pamela Rapley Heard of Abbeville, three foster daughters, Brenda R. Jackson of Donalds and Mary Frances Holmes and Cassandra A. Jackson, both of Greenwood; two brothers, Horace C. Rapley Jr. of Greenwood and Robert D. Rapley of Birmingham, Ala.; two sisters, Doris R. Wade of Philadelphia and Gaynell R. Pyles of Greenville; a grandchild and four foster grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Brown and Walker Funeral Home, which is in charge.
