Lee Roy Harrison Sr.
GREENWOOD — Lee Roy Harrison Sr., 84, of 121 Utopia Acres, husband of Helen Hazel Harrison, passed away March 29, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late John Moore and Dora Elizabeth White Harrison. He had worked for Abney Mills and Greenwood Mills and was a farmer and self-employed contractor. He was a member of South Greenwood Assembly of God.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Myrtis Harrison Forehand and Mary Harrison Walker, both of Greenwood; six sons, Kenneth Roy Harrison of Conway, the Rev. Carroll Eugene Harrison, John Donnie Harrison, Walter “Jack” Harrison, Lee Roy Harrison Jr. and Colie Franklin Harrison, all of Greenwood; a sister, Elsie Harrison Rush of Greenwood; 22 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 Sunday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Carroll E. Harrison and the Rev. Bob Forehand. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are his sons.
Honorary escorts are grandsons, Duane Harrison, David Harrison, Robert Forehand, Lee Roy “Tracey” Harrison III, Jamey Walker, Joshua Walker, Jonathan Walker, Jamie Harrison and Jason Harrison.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of a son, the Rev. Carroll Harrison, 280 Galilee Road.
Memorials may be made to South Greenwood Assembly of God Building Fund, 280 Galilee Road, Greenwood, S.C. 29646.

Larry Rucker
GREENWOOD — Services for Larry Rucker, of 128 Henderson St., will be at 3 Sunday at Robinson and Son Mortuary, conducted by the Rev. Willie N. Norman Jr., assisted by the Rev. Thomas Duncan. Burial will be in Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are brothers-in-law.
Flower bearers are friends of the family.
Visitation is tonight at the home of his mother, Mae White Rucker, 808 Greene St.
Robinson and Son Mortuary Inc. is in charge.

Lem Jackson Aiken

DONALDS — Lem Jackson Aiken, 68, of 159 Mount Lebanon Church Road, husband of Clara Morton Aiken, passed away March 2, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Osie and Rosa Mae Harris Aiken. He was a retired brick mason and a veteran of the Korean conflict. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Lisa Rena Aiken of the home; two nephews reared in the home, Larry R. Jackson of Irmo and James M. Jackson of Goose Creek; and a brother, Andrew Aiken of Abbeville.
Services will be announced by Brown and Walker Funeral Home, Abbeville, which is in charge.

Calvin Wesley Haley

GREENWOOD — Calvin Wesley Haley, 62, of 302 Willow Brook Road, widower of Dorothy Daniels Haley, passed away Friday, March 2, 2000.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late John and Eva Williams Haley. He was a retired employee of Monsanto and was self-employed. Haley was a 1977 graduate of Lander University and an Army veteran. He was a member of Mays United Methodist Church, where he belonged to the choir. Haley was a former tutor at Ninety Six Elementary School, a member of the MLK Choir and former commander of the Ninety Six American Legion Post.
He is survived by one sister, Hariet Duncomb of Dayton, Ohio; three grandchildren; a niece, Hattie Eunice Haley of the home; and a great-nephew, Aaron Wallace of the home.
Services will be announced later by Robinson and Son Mortuary, Inc.
The family is at the home.

Marie Gambrell

DONALDS — Marie Elizabeth Prince Gambrell, 93, formerly of Route 2, widow of Floyd Alvin Gambrell, passed away March 2, 2001, at Abbeville Nursing Home.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Grover and Janie Hill Prince. She was a homemaker and a member of Winona Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Homer McGaha of Donalds; a daughter, Mrs. Ray (Virginia) Tallent of Due West; two sisters, Gladys Gambrell of Donalds and Betty Jane Nelson of Ware Shoals; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 Sunday at Winona Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Billy Slatten. The body will be placed in the church at 2. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Pruitt Funeral Home, Honea Path.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Virginia Tallent, 251 Main St., Due West.

Eldin Greene

ANTREVILLE — Omah “Eldin” Greene, 70, of 39 Gable Drive, husband of Wilma Lavender Greene, passed away March 2, 2001, at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Forest City, N.C., he was a son of the late Clyde Alexander and Julia Mae White Greene. He was a retired plant engineer with Park Seed, Greenwood, a Navy veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; four sons, Stanley Green of Greenwood, Alan Greene of Lugoff, Jimmy Greene of Donalds and David Greene of Saluda; a daughter, Vicky Valade of Jacksonville, Fla.; two brothers, Johnny Greene of Forest City and Billy Greene of Marietta; three sisters, Jean Payton of Forest City, Jackie Poteat of Chesnee and Judy Greene of Ellenboro, N.C.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be conducted by the Rev. George Wilson at 3 Sunday at Harris Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation is from 2-3 Sunday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.

David Howard Lomax

ABBEVILLE — David Howard Thomas Lomax, 69, of 1508 Old Calhoun Falls Road, husband of Dessie Cobb Lomax, passed away March 2, 2001, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late John and Olivia Harris Lomax. He was a retired employee of Pirelli Cable, a veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of Cypress Chapel AME Church. He was also a member of Dreher Lodge 370 and a Shriner.
Survivors include his wife of the home; four daughters, Shirley Cobb, Jacqueline Agnew and Joyce Tate, all of Abbeville and Norma L. Williams of Atlanta; three sons, Lynn Lomax, Stanley Lomax and Floyd Tate, all of Abbeville; four sisters, Mary Brooks and the Rev. Florence Kelly, both of Philadelphia, Mariah Burton of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Susie Crawford of Abbeville; three brothers, Lewis Lomax of Columbia, William Lomax of Atlanta and Fred Alan Lomax of New Orleans; 24 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Brown and Walker Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Gladys ‘Pete’ Pugh

SALUDA — Gladys “Pete” Edwards Pugh, 82, of Route 2, Equine Drive, widow of Frank H. Pugh, passed away March 1, 2001, at Saluda Nursing Center.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late James M. and Ethel Stone Edwards. She was a retired beautician, a member of the S.C. Cosmetology Association and a member of Emory United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Rosemary Pugh Wood of Saluda; a son, James T. “Ted” Pugh of Lexington; two sisters, Frances E. “Sissy” Langford of Saluda and Bobby Jean E. Jackson of Eureka; a brother, Frank G. Edwards of Gilbert; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 Sunday at Ramey Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Boyd Chewning and the Rev. Bill McNeill. Burial will be in Travis Park Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Saluda Nursing Center, P.O. Box 398, Saluda, S.C. 29138.

Heyward Butler

SALUDA — Charlie Heyward Butler, 67, of 2977 Old Charleston Road, husband of Addie Sue Haston Butler, passed away March 3, 2001, at his residence.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Adell and Nannie Lou Koon Butler. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Hopewell Congregational Holiness Church, where he was a Sunday School Superintendent and a deacon.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Mary Sue Butler of Augusta; a brother, Nevit Butler of Greenwood; and a sister, Shirley B. Gunter of Saluda.
Services will be at 3 Monday at Hopewell Congregational Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev. Alex Cordero.
Burial will be at Mayson Memorial Cemetery of Good Hope Baptist Church.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Ramey Funeral Home of Saluda.

Joe Cooper

WARE SHOALS — Joe Cooper, of Ekom Beach Road, passed away March 3, 2001, at his home.

William Edward Harden

SENECA — William Edward Harden, 75, of 401 Andrew Pickens Drive, husband of Rita Ulmrich Harden, passed away March 2, 2001 at the Oconee Memorial Hospital.
Born in Oakway, he was a son of the late John Lewis and Bertha Hall Harden. He was retired from the Army, serving during WWII. He was also retired from Clemson University after 21 years of service.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Michael Harden of the home and William E. Harden Jr. of Seneca; a daughter, Linda H. Matthews of Greenwood; two brothers, Rev. Robert Harden of Salem and J.L. Harden of Seneca; two sisters, Gussie H. Gibson of Westminster and Janie H. Lay of Pauline; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 3:30 Monday at Oconee Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Milton Stubblefield, with military honors.
Visitation is from 1-3 Monday at Brown-Oglesby Funeral Home of Seneca.

Savannah D. Harrison

EDGEFIELD — Savannah D. Harrison, 80, of 311 Mineral St., widow of N.L. Harrison, passed away March 1, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Edgefield County, she was a daughter of the late Jim and Mary Dorn Dobbs. She was a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church. She was retired from Quality Cleaners.
Survivors include two brothers, James Dobbs of Saluda and Charles Dobbs of Mulins; three sisters, Amy Clark and Lillie Mae Stevenson, both of Saluda and O’Dessa Dobbs of Washington , D.C.; four grandchildren, one raised in the home, Baron Scott of Anderson; nine great-grandchildren, three raised in the home, Tasheka, Jacquetta and Antonio Gary, all of Greenwood; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

Cindy L. Quarles

GREENWOOD — Cindy L. Quarles, 54, of 807 Neel Ave., wife of John Quarles, passed away March 3, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of Carrie Lee Outzs Lewis and the late Tommy Lewis. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; mother of the home; a son, John Quarles Jr. of the home; a daughter, Janice Hicks of Columbia; a brother, Wallace Lewis of Greenwood; two sisters, Bertha Mason of Greenwood and Nell Wells of Ninety Six.
