NINETY SIX — Frances Geneva Watkins Harris, 75, of 2115 Ninety Six Highway, widow of Dorsey Eldridge “Shorty” Harris, passed away May 15, 2001, at Saluda Nursing Center.
The family is at the home of a nephew, Danny Hill, 302 Sherard Road, Greenwood.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home, Greenwood, which is in charge.

Louis Dickerson Hedrick III
MONTICELLO, Ark. — Louis Dickerson Hedrick III, 26, passed away May 12, 2001, at his home.
Born in Columbia, Tenn., he was a son of Louis Dickerson Hedrick Jr. and Cynthia Ann Alexander Hedrick. He was a student at the University of Arkansas, Monticello, a Methodist and an employee of Hardees of Monticello.
Survivors include his parents of Greenwood, S.C.; a sister, Amanda Hedrick of Greenwood; paternal grandmother, Francis Hedrick of Warren; and maternal grandmother, Lila Alexander of Columbia, Tenn.
Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church of Warren, with burial in Oakland Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Greenwood High School Athletic Department, Greenwood, S.C.
Frazer’s Funeral Home, Warren, is in charge.

David P. Jackson
GREENWOOD — David Paul Jackson, 74, of 308 Jenkins Spring Road, passed away May 14, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home, which is in charge.

John ‘Ed’ Thompson
GREENWOOD — John Edward “Ed” Thompson, 52, of 406 Green St., passed away May 14, 2001, at Wesley Commons.
Born in Lynchburg, Va., he was a son of Willie Ruth Thompson Ware and the late John Wright and a stepson of the late Clarence Ware Jr. He was a former cook with the Ranch House and a member of Dunham Temple C.M.E. Church.
Survivors include his mother of Greenwood; a brother, James Lewis Ware of Greenwood; and a sister, Mary Frances Ware Wilson of Greenwood.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

Marvin Ashley
WARE SHOALS — Marvin Ashley, of 6 N. Greenwood Ave., husband of Gloria Ashley, passed away May 16, 2001, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Services will be announced by Parker-White Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Geneva Harris
CLAXTON, Ga. — Winnie D. Daniel, 94, widow of C.C. Daniel, passed away May 13, 2001, at Wesley Commons Nursing Home, Greenwood, S.C.
Born in Evans County, she retired from Sears and Roebuck after 25 years of service and was a member of Bay Branch Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. David (Winona) Sexton of Cross Hill, S.C.; two brothers, Herbert Daniel Sr. of Claxton and Neal F. Daniel of Dunwoody; two sisters, Sarah Dowdy of Savannah and Mary Lee Ogletree of Cayce, S.C.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 today at Bay Branch Primitive Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. John Fastenau and Elder Al Groover.
Pallbearers are nephews.
Memorials may be made to Bay Branch Primitive Baptist Church, Route 2, Claxton, Ga. 30417.

GREENWOOD — Thomas Wilson Dorn, 40, of 230 E. Cambridge Ave., Apt. 312, passed away May 16, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.

Katie Gilchrist
McCORMICK — Mrs. Katie Gilchrist, 70, of 331 Gilchrist Road, wife of Jasper Gilchrist, passed away May 15, 2001, at her home.
Born in Edgefield County, she was a member of a local congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Edgefield.
Survivors include her husband of McCormick; two daughters, Gloria Herring of Washington , D.C., and Shaunta Gilchrist of McCormick; three sons, Jasper Gilchrist Jr. and Gregory Procter, both of Washington , D.C., and Ricky Procter of Hopewell, Va.; her stepmother, Myra Gordon of McCormick; a sister, Mary Byrd of Washington , D.C.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be announced by G.L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary, Edgefield, which is in charge.

Harvey Gordon
DUE WEST — William Harvey Gordon, 90, of 230 W. Main St., widower of Mary McDonald Coleman Gordon, passed away May 14, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late William Samuel and Janie Blackmon Gordon. He was a retired mechanic with S.C. State Highway Department, School Bus Division, Abbeville School District 60. He was a member of Due West Baptist Church and the J.E. Thompson Sunday School Class of the church.
Survivors include a son, Jim Coleman of Abbeville; a sister, Nell G. Fleming of Abbeville; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Thursday in Broadmouth Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Dr. James Bell and the Rev. Calvin Draffin.
Visitation is at the graveside after the services.
The family is at the home of his son, Jim Coleman, in Abbeville.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Amy Hallman
NINETY SIX — Amy Marann Hallman, 22, of 2304 Carter Road, passed away May 15, 2001.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of David C. and Mary Ann Jones Hallman. She graduated from East Side Christian School and graduated from Pensacola Christian College last week. Next fall, she was to begin teaching history and Spanish at East Side Christian School. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Young Adult Sunday School Class and played piano.
Survivors include her parents of the home; a brother, Quest David Hallman of Batesburg; paternal grandmother, Mary Lou Hallman of Batesburg; and a step-grandmother, Maria Ensey of Oklahoma City.
Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at East Side Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. E.A. Cooper Jr. and the Rev. William Robertson. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 10.
Pallbearers are Fredrick Salter, Jason Salter, Jarrod Long, Darrel Long, Clint Hallman, Brandon Hallman, Phillip Disher and Michael Tollison.
Honorary escorts are members of the Young Adult Sunday School Class, the Men’s Bible Class and the Ladies Sunday School Class of the church.
Visitation is from 7-9 Thursday at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

Geneva Harris
NINETY SIX - Frances Geneva Watkins Harris, 75, resident of 2115 Ninety Six Highway, widow of Dorsey Eldridge 'Shorty' Harris passed away May 15, 2001 at the Saluda Nursing Center.
Born in Greenwood County, June 1, 1925, she was a daughter of the late William Aaron and Mary Lou Freeland Watkins. She was a graduate of Ninety Six High School and was retired from Monsanto of Greenwood.
A member of Temple Baptist Church, she was also a member of the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class.
Surviving are a brother, Norman 'Bill' Watkins of Council Bluff, Iowa; three nieces, Carolyn Gibert and Sheila Taylor, both of Ninety Six and Renee Hill of Ware Shoals; six nephews, Keith Hill of Seabrook, TX; Danny Hill of Greenwood; Billy Watkins, Michael Watkins, Chris Watkins and Pat Watkins, all of Iowa; ten great-nieces and nephews and three great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 Thursday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with Rev. Tommy Cartledge and Rev. Lee Going officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Michael Gibert, Brian Gibert, Mark Gibert, Craig Parkman, Terry Gibert and Mark Styles.
The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Hill, 302 Sherard Road, Greenwood and will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:30 to 3:30 Thursday afternoon.
Memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church, 95 Saluda Street, Ninety Six, SC 29666 or to the Saluda Nursing Center, PO Box 398, Saluda, SC 29138.

GREENWOOD — David Paul Jackson, 74, of 308 Jenkins Spring Road, passed away May 14, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Chicago, he was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Johnny (Virginia) Roton of Jacksonville, Fla.; and a brother, Clyde M. Ray Jr. of Gainesville, Fla.
Graveside memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Elmwood Cemetery, Ninety Six, conducted by the Rev. George Hill.
Memorials may be made to the Emerald Center, P.O. Box 3004, Greenwood, S.C. 29648.

Betty Jean Jemison
GREENWOOD — Services for Betty Jean Hill Jemison, formerly of 104-B McKellar Court, are at 2 Friday at Dunham Temple C.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. James McKee, pastor, assisted by the Rev. Tommy Stanford. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church.
Pallbearers are Cedric Singletary, Clyde Moore, Tommy Martin, John Henry Brown, Keith Jackson and Oshamar Wells.
Flower bearers are Emma Brown, Kaletha Robinson, Elizabeth Robinson, Wenona Wells and Teresa Halloway. Visitation is Thursday evening at the home of her parents, Robert and Gladys Graham Hill, 123 Independence Way.

Annie Mae Leak
McCORMICK — Annie Mae Williams Leak, 88, widow of John Wesley Leak, of McCormick Health Care, formerly of 635 Grier St., Greenwood, passed away May 16, 2001, at her home.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Annie Rebecca Williams and a member of Mount Zion A.M.E. Church.
Survivors include a son, David Leak of Philadelphia; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home of a granddaughter, Lateshia Leak Robinson, 635 Grier St., Greenwood.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, Greenwood, which is in charge.
