PLUM BRANCH — Calvin Bussey, 52, passed away May 22, 2001, at his home.
Born in Plum Branch, he was a son of Jessie Cartledge Bussey and the late Patrick Bussey Sr. He was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church. Recently returning to South Carolina, he lived in Washington , D.C., for 30 years, where he worked as an auto mechanic.
Survivors include his mother of Plum Branch; two children; three sisters, Janie Chamberlain of Philadelphia, Pearine Stevens of Plum Branch and Adeline Harrison of Washington , D.C.; and three brothers, James Bussey and Otis Bussey, both of Maryland and Patrick “Pat” Bussey of Plum Branch.
The family is at the home of his mother, Old Augusta Road.
Services will be announced by Walker Funeral Home, McCormick, which is in charge.

Larry Hill
BELTON — William Larry Hill, 56, of 304 Oak Hill Road, passed away May 22, 2001, at his home.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of William F. and Mary Scott Hill. He was a volunteer fireman at Dunklin Fire Department and a member of Woodmen of the World and Oak Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his parents of the home; and a sister, Mary Ellen Durst of Sullivans Island.
Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Oak Hill United Methodist Church, conducted by the Revs. Tom Lewis and Alan Quarles. Burial is in Lickville Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Oak Hill United Methodist Church, 208 Oak Hill Road, Belton, S.C. 29627 or Dunklin Fire Department, 1026 Dunklin Bridge Road, Pelzer, S.C. 29669.

Ollie Frank Simpkins
EDGEFIELD — Ollie Frank Simpkins, 56, of 1038 Woodlawn Ave., passed away May 21, 2001, at Mattie C. Hall Nursing Home in Aiken.
Survivors include a son, Gerald Simpkins of New Jersey; three sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Mary) Reed and Mrs. David (Gertrude) McRay, both of Aiken and Hazel Morgan of Edgefield; and a brother, Michael Morgan of Edgefield.
Services will be conducted at 3 Thursday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. J.R. Hooper. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at G.L. Brightharp & Sons Mortuary after 1 today.
The family is at home of a sister, Hazel Morgan, 233 Moores Road.

Lillian Wilkerson
McCORMICK — Services for Lillian Wilkerson, formerly of Carolina Street, will be conducted at 2 Thursday at New Hope Baptist Church by the Revs. J.C. Williams and R.C. Holloway. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are nephews and nieces.
Visitation is from 7-8 tonight at Walker Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of a niece, Jacqueline Searles, Westtowne Apartments, H-1, McCormick.

Gladys Martin
TROY — Gladys Martin, 61, of Route 1, Box 30, Highway 28 South, passed away May 23, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
Born in McCormick County, she was a daughter of the late Dave and Marie Martin. She attended St. Good Will Baptist Church and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include six sisters, Eunice Jackson of the home; Lena Jackson, Cleo Jackson and Catherine Brooks, all of Abbeville, Lucille Williams of Washington , D.C., and Eula Mae Cade of Troy; three brothers, Walter Martin of Troy, Otis Martin of Washington , D.C., and Horace Martin of Abbeville.
The family is at the home of a sister, Mrs. Earl (Eunice) Jackson, Highway 28 South, Troy.
Brown and Walker Funeral Home, Abbeville, is in charge.

Sophia Minick Stevens
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Sophia Minick Stevens, wife of Raymond Stevens, passed away May 19, 2001. The family is at the home of a sister, Willie Pearl Minick, 812 Johnston Highway, Saluda, S.C.
Services will be announced by Butler and Sons Funeral Home, Saluda, which is in charge.

Kreamer Bowie Watts
GREENWOOD — Kreamer Bowie Watts, 57, of 208 Tompkins St., wife of Brawley Watts, passed away May 23, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Booker T. and Mattie Gaskin Bowie. She was co-owner of J&W and G&B Transportation and a machine operator with Kendall Healthcare Products Co. She was a member of Piney Grove A.M.E. Church, Callison, where she was a member of the deaconess board, and she attended Old Mount Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Delenthia Watts Merritt and Debora Watts Franklin, both of Charlotte, N.C.; four brothers, Booker T. Bowie Jr., Willie Bowie, Curtis Bowie and Doug Christopher, all of Greenwood; and six sisters, Emma Robinson of Ninety Six, Rosetta Moore of Philadelphia, Mattie Mae Richardson of New York, Bennie Mae Bowie of Greenwood, Ernestine Hill of Detroit and Frances Melby of Washington , D.C.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

PLUM BRANCH — Services for Calvin Bussey are at 1 Saturday at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. W.H. McCain and Otis Cunningham. Burial is in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at noon.
Pallbearers are O’Neil Blocker, Freddie Blocker, Terrance Cartledge, Ridgeway Freeman, D’Marious Reid and Calvin Stevens.
Flower bearers are nieces.
The family is at the home of his mother, Jessie Cartledge Bussey, Old Augusta Road.

Clyns Holt Duncan
WATERLOO — Clyns Holt Duncan, 74, widow of Lawrence “Buck” Duncan Jr., passed away May 23, 2001, at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Robert Leonard Holt and Nola Messer Smith. She was a former employee of Stone Manufacturing, Greenville, and Lowndes Products, Easley. She was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church, the church choir and Rosemont Community Fish Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Jean Duncan) Gravley of Waterloo; a grandson; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Vicki Green of Greenville; and two brothers, Robert Long of Easley and Dwight Smith of Greenville.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Gray Funeral Home, Laurens, with burial in Rosemont Baptist Church Cemetery, Waterloo.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Clyde G. and Laura A. England
PORTLAND, Tenn. — Services for Clyde G. England, 76, and Laura A. “Totsie” Satterfield England, 74, of 199 Hollis Chapel Court, are at 1 today at Highland Seventh-Day Adventist Church, conducted by Elder Dale Hoover. Burial is in Old Brush Cemetery.
Mr. and Mrs. England passed away in Portland, on May 20, 2001 and May 23, 2001 respectively.
Born in Morganton, N.C., Mr. England was a son of the late John England Sr. and Grace L. Mull England. He was a self-employed merchant and an Army veteran.
Mrs. England was born in Greenwood, S.C., a daughter of the late Ernest and Christene Eubanks Satterfield. She was a retired nurse.
Survivors include their daughters, Evonne Hartle of Asheville, N.C., and Lyrene Morgan of Portland.
Additional survivors for Mr. England include two brothers, Harland England and Derry England, both of Morganton; a sister, Mildred Petrone of Billings, Mo.; and his stepmother, Nellie England of Charlotte, N.C.

Azalee B. Fortson
GREENWOOD — Azalee Barton Fortson, 86, of 314 Curl Creek Road, widow of Albert Silas Fortson, passed away May 24, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Mack Daniel and Gertrude Knox Barton. She retired from Greenwood Mills, Chalmers Plant, where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was a member of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Bible Class and Friendship Club and leader of the Prayer Chain.
Survivors include a daughter, Geneine Cannon of Greenwood; an adopted daughter, Judy Campbell of Hodges; and a sister, Marie B. Henderson of Easley.
Services are at 2 Saturday at Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Leland S. Scott and Reuel Westbrook. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are James Chapman, J.D. Smith, Gerald Burton, J.E. Walker, Billy Ray Spivey and Doug Shannon.
Honorary escorts are deacons and members of the Ladies Bible Class and Men’s Senior Bible Class of the church.
Visitation is from 1-2 Saturday in the church parlor.

Born in New York City, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Clementine Harris Grey. She retired as a nursing assistant and was a seamstress for the Masonic lodges. She was a member of St. Phillips Episcopal Church in New York.
Survivors include a son, Cornell B. Mann of Greenwood; a sister, Gladys L. Thompson of Anniston, Ala.; and a grandson of the home, Raphael Mann.
Services are at 4 Saturday at Robinson & Son Mortuary conducted by the Rev. Joseph Caldwell. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are friends of the family.
Flower bearers are great-nieces and friends.
Visitation is this evening at the home.

SALUDA — Bennie Lee “Jake” Palmer, 81, of 768 Denny Highway, widower of Willie Derrick Palmer, passed away May 23, 2001, at Lexington Medical Center.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late David Shelton Sr. and Farah Minor Palmer. He was a retired contractor and a member of Butler United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, James S. “Jim” Palmer and W. Dewey Palmer, both of Saluda; two brothers, David Shelton Palmer Jr. of Saluda and Cromer Palmer of Greenwood; two sisters, Eleanor Palmer Metts and Sallie Palmer Rinehart, both of Saluda; four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Butler United Methodist Church, conducted by the Revs. Fred Treaster and John Griffith. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Ramey Funeral Home.
