MCCORMICK — Ethel Brown Patterson, 96, widow of Metz Patterson, passed away May 27, 2001, at her home.
Born in McCormick, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Lula Martin Brown.
Services will be at 2 Thursday at the True Vine Progressive Church of Jesus, conducted by Bishop Robert L. Attaway and Elder Paul Jennings. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 Thursday.
Pallbearers will be grandsons of the family.
Flower bearers will be granddaughters of the family.
Honorary escorts will be the members of the Woman’s Aide Society No. 86.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Bobbie J. Smith, 222 Mims Drive, McCormick.

Rosa Ann Belcher Richardson
NORTH AUGUSTA — Rosa Ann Belcher Richardson, 88, formerly of 405 Vaughn St., widow of Tommie Richardson, passed away May 29, 2001, at the Anna Maria Rehab and Nursing Center in North Augusta.
Born in Greenwood County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Enarcissa Brown. She was a member of John’s Creek Baptist Church and the Women’s Aide Society No. 98.
She was the last survivor of her immediate family.
Graveside services will be at noon Thursday at Evening Star Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Curtis Carter.
Pallbearers will be the Deacons of John’s Creek Baptist Church.
Flower bearers will be members of the Women’s Aide Society No. 98.
The family is at the home of her niece, Izola Charles Wilson, 115 Biscayne Drive, Aspen Heights, Greenwood.
Robinson & Son Mortuary, Inc. is in charge.

Violetta F. Wells
NINETY SIX — Violetta Frazier Wells, 88, widow of Buna Lee Wells, passed away May 29, 2001, at 1523 Tillman Territory, the home of a daughter-in-law, Linda Wells, with whom she lived.
Born in Habersham County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Fred and Lou Cannon Frazier. She retired from Greenwood Mills, Ninety Six Plant, where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was a member of Fairview Home Makers Club and Cambridge United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Eveready Sunday School Class.
Survivors include a son, Mickey Wells of Silverstreet; a daughter, Lynda Wells Morris of Columbia; a sister, Agnes Spearman of Ninety Six; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Harley Funeral Home, Greenwood, conducted by the Rev. Joey McDonald. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Mickey Goodman, Tommy Balchin, Ronnie Hallman, Danny Berry, James E. “Coot” Henderson Jr. and Jimmy Willingham.
Honorary escorts are members of the Eveready Sunday School Class of Cambridge United Methodist Church.
Visitation is from 10-11 Thursday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of her daughter-in-law, 1523 Tillman Territory Road.

BRADLEY — William Graham Wooten, 43, of 319 Cedar Springs Road, passed away May 29, 2001, at the Medical University Hospital in Augusta.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Cleo ‘Pearl’ Bowick
McCORMICK — Cleo “Pearl” Jester Bowick, 83, of Fifth Avenue, widow of William P. Bowick, passed away May 28, 2001, at her home.
Born in McCormick, she was a daughter of the late Maxie and Pearl Williams Jester. She was a homemaker and a member of McCormick First Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, William P. Bowick Jr. of Graniteville, Franklin J. Bowick of Troy and Jerome B. Bowick and Kenneth Y. Bowick, both of McCormick; two daughters, Frances B. Percival and Lennie B. Joiner, both of Modoc; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Wednesday at McCormick First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dennis Lynn. Burial is in McCormick City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are James Bowick, nephews and grandsons.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Strom Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

Lorraine K. Parker
EDGEFIELD — Lorraine Kern Parker, 74, of Jeter Street, widow of Farris Candler Parker Sr., passed away May 27, 2001, at the Medical College of Georgia.
Born in Fairfax, Va., she served as an American Red Cross volunteer during World War II, was a homemaker and was president of Parker Land Management Corp. She was a member of Edgefield United Methodist Church, where she was secretary of Epworth Children’s Fund for 10 years. She was also a member of the Farm Bureau Federation, the S.C. Republican Party and the American Tree Farmer’s Association.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce P. Gross of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Martha P. Quillen of Columbia; a son, Farris C. Parker Jr. of Troy; a sister, Joan Pendergraph of Prince Fredrick, Md.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Wednesday at Edgefield United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Burton Ott. Burial is in Eastview Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Farris C. “Trey” Parker III, Andrew Clayton Parker, John Candler Buttram, Walden Maxwell Buttram, Ralph James Gross III and Daniel Candler Gross.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Edgefield Mercantile Funeral Home.

Lorenzo Ross
GREENWOOD — Lorenzo Ross, 27, of 200 Holman St., Apt. 8-C, passed away May 28, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Washington , D.C., he was a son of the Rev. Guy Ross and Gail Ross. He graduated from McCormick High School in 1993 and was of the Jehovah Witness faith.
Survivors include his father of Hodges; his mother of the home; his stepfather, Willie Cunningham, of Greenwood; a stepdaughter, Breunte Tolbert of Greenwood; two brothers, Fred Ross and Goliath Ross, both of Greenwood; two stepbrothers, Mich Ross of Greenville and Lee Watts of Greenwood; a sister, Linda Ross of Greenwood; two stepsisters, Chansay Ross of Hodges and Ruby Williams of Greenwood; maternal grandmother, Gladys Wilson of Elk Ridge, Md.; and paternal grandmother, Julia Ross of Greenwood.
The family is at the home of his mother, 200 Holman St., Apt. 8-C and at the home of his father, 2417 Ridge Road, Hodges.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

Herbert Anderson Sturkey
SPARTANBURG — Herbert Anderson Sturkey, 79, of White Oak Estate, passed away May 27, 2001, in Spartanburg.
Born in McCormick, he was a son of the late M.L.B. and Lucy Anderson Sturkey. He was a World War II Army veteran and a Methodist. Living in Spartanburg for 40 years, he retired from the corporate office of Milliken Co.
Survivors include a sister, Annie Laurie S. Carpenter Gebauer.
Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Saturday in McCormick City Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Donald Clendaniel.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

GREENWOOD — Larry Terry, 46, of 221 Cannon Drive, passed away May 26, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Collins Terry and the late Catherine Cannon Terry. He was a member of Second Damascus Baptist Church.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Eloise Lagoon Terry, of Greenwood; a sister, Earnestine Terry of the home; and a niece and nephew of the home, Demetria C. Terry and Collins T. Terry.
Services are at 2 Wednesday at Second Damascus Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Leroy Robertson, assisted by the Revs. Clyde Cannon and Ernest Cannon. Burial is in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1.

She was a retired homemaker and a member of True Vine Progressive Church of Jesus, where she was a Sunday School superintendent and an Adult Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Women’s Home Aide Society No. 86.
Survivors include two daughters, Bobbie J. Smith and Lula Watts, and a son, Thomas Patterson, all of McCormick; a granddaughter reared in the home, Betty Harper of McCormick; four sisters, Nola Freeman and Margaret Harris, both of Charlotte, N.C., Marian Connors of Huntersville, N.C., and Lucille Alexander of New York City; 26 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Bobbie J. Smith, 222 Mims Drive.
Services will be announced by Walker Funeral Home, which is in charge.
