Emma Murdock Wiles
HONEA PATH — Emma Murdock Wiles, 90, widow of William C. “Bill” Wiles, passed away May 26, 2001, at the Presbyterian Home in Clinton.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Steve G. and Lessie McMahan Murdock. She was a resident of Honea Path for 73 years and a member of the Honea Path Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Josephine W. Johnson of Clemson and Jane Ellen W. Dreher of Grafton, Va.; a sister, Hazel M. Hanks of Anderson; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 Monday at the Honea Path Presbyterian Church, conducted by Dr. Tom Sherer and Dr. Booker Bagby.
Visitation will be immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Honea Path Presbyterian Church, 106 Church Street, Honea Path, S.C. 29654; Presbyterian Home of S.C., corporate office, P.O. Box 210037, Columbia S.C. 29221-0037; and to the Cemetery Fund of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, 2603 Due West Hwy., Belton, S.C. 29627.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Josephine Johnson, 306 Augusta Road, Clemson.

Delma Baughman
ABBEVILLE — Delma Baughman, 71, of 405 Chestnut St., widow of John William “Billy” Baughman Sr., passed away June 5, 2001, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
The family is at the home of a son, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Baughman, 405 Chestnut St.
Services will be announced by Harris Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Beatrice Gertrude Clark
GREENWOOD — Beatrice Gertrude Clark, formerly of 820 Townes St., passed away June 4, 2001, at University Hospital in Augusta.
The family is at the home of a nephew, Ezekiel Johnson, 111 S. Hospital St.
Services will be announced by Parks Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Norris L. ‘Pope’ Parks
GREENWOOD — Services for Norris Leomark “Pope” Parks, of 172 Callison Drive, will be at 2 Friday at Living Word Tabernacle of Faith, conducted by the Rev. J.J. Robinson, assisted by Bishop Bernard Newson, pastor. Burial is in Oakbrook Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Pallbearers are Aundrea Parks, Donald Parks, Curtis Parks, Bill Parks, Sanford Frazier and Leonard Burton.
Flower bearers are nieces and friends of the family.
Visitation is Thursday at the home.
Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc. is in charge.

Johnny James Tucker
ABBEVILLE — Johnny James Tucker, 45, of No. 30, Calhoun Apartments, passed away June 3, 2001, at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in McCormick, he was a son of the late George Samuel and Harriet Wideman Tucker. He was a machine operator and a Protestant.
Survivors include three sisters, Frances Williams of Plum Branch, Hattie Norman of Abbeville and Henrietta Callaham of McCormick; and five brothers, William H. Wideman, Lewis Tucker and Robert L. Tucker, all of Abbeville and Sammy G. Tucker and Willie Tucker, both of McCormick.
Services are at 2 Thursday at St. Mary A.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. Issac Booker and the Rev. Rufus East. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are friends of the family.
Visitation is from 7-8 tonight at Richie Funeral Home.
Richie Funeral Home is in charge.

Samuel Alexander Washington
ANDERSON — Samuel Alexander Washington , 39, of 101 McFall Circle, passed away June 6, 2001, at Anderson Area Medical Center.
The family is at the home of Jimmy and Anne Coleman, 140 Dutchman Road, Abbeville.
Services will be announced by Abbeville Mortuary, which is in charge.

John David Williams
GREENWOOD — John David Williams, 74, of Bonds Community Residence, on Jenkins Spring Road, passed away June 5, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Conshohocken, Pa., he was a son of the late John and Ola Thomas Williams. He was a member of Belmont Baptist Church in Silverstreet.
Survivors include four brothers, Willie J. Williams of Hodges, Richard Williams of Greenville, Ralph Williams of Columbia and Samuel Williams of Philadelphia; and a sister, Pauline Williams Moore of Philadelphia.
The family is at the home of a brother, Willie J. Williams, 3315 Cokesbury Road, Hodges. Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

Dallas Jones, educator, civic leader
GREENWOOD — The Rev. Dallas Jones, 79, , a retired Lakelands pastor, educator and community leader, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of Mary Howard Jones, and they lived at 110 Windvalley Road.
Born in Timmonsville, he was a son of the late Matthew and Carrie Bell Jones. He was a former pastor and public school teacher. He was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Timmonsville, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, a 33rd degree Mason, a former board member for Greenwood County Farmers Market, former Vegetable Grower of the Year, Greenwood County and former director of Seaboard Recreational Center (now R.L. Stevens Center).
A graduate of Brockington High School, Florence, he received a bachelor’s degree from Claflin University, Orangeburg, and a master’s degree from S.C. State University, Orangeburg. He also graduated from Gammon Theological Seminary, Atlanta, and completed other studies at Morrin College, Lander University, Newberry College, Clemson University and the University of South Carolina.
Jones was a former pastor at Trinity United Methodist Church, Fairview A.M.E. Church, Friendship A.M.E. Church and Pine Grove and Shiloh A.M.E. churches, both in McCormick. He also served at Mount Olive A.M.E. Church, Kinards, and Cross Road and Sweet Springs A.M.E. churches, both in Newberry. He was a former teacher at Southside Junior High School, former assistant principal at Branch Street Elementary and a former teacher in Abbeville County and at Edgewood Middle School, Ninety Six. He retired from Newberry/Spartanburg District. He also served in the Navy.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Jeffery Todd Tolbert and Reginald Dwight Tolbert, both of Greenwood; a sister, Ednetta Jones Conner of Florence; and three grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

Angie Rogala
GREENWOOD — Angie Belle Lovelace Rogala, 87, of Morningside Assisted Living, widow of John Rogala, passed away May 5, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital.
Born in Medford, Ore., she was a daughter of the late Walter and Maggie Evans Lovelace. She retired from the Environmental Protection Agency, Dallas, Texas , and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Dallas.
Survivors include two daughters, Gail Bowers of Greenwood and Kay Halliburton of Houston; six grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 4 Tuesday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. David Evans.
Memorials may be made to Greenwood Women’s Center, 109 Wells Ave., Greenwood, S.C. 29649.

Mamie ‘Pat’ Bell
CALHOUN FALLS — Mamie “Pat” Bell, 45, of 1188 Seneca St. Extension, passed away May 6, 2001, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Calhoun Falls, she was a daughter of Lue Neal Bell and the late Roy Bell Sr. She graduated from Calhoun Falls High School and retired from the former Burlington Textile Plant in Calhoun Falls. She was a self-employed upholsterer and a member of Mount Olive Church of God Holiness, where she recently recovered the pews.
Survivors include her mother of the home; five sisters, Earnestine Edmunds of Calhoun Falls, Glorie Bell and Shelia Bell, both of the home and Freda Bell and Phyllis Bell, both of Forestville, Md.; and a brother, Roy Bell Jr. of Abbeville.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Friendly Funeral Home, which is charge.

Otelia Bryant
PLUM BRANCH — Otelia Bladon Bryant, 81, passed away May 6, 2001, at McCormick Health Care.
Born in Plum Branch, she was a daughter of the late Ben and Martha White Bladon. She was a homemaker and a member of Plum Branch Baptist Church.
Graveside services were at 11 a.m. today in Plum Branch Cemetery, conducted by Mrs. Jack Hiott.
Strom Funeral Home, McCormick, is in charge.

Roy Mauney
GREENWOOD — Roy B. Mauney, 77, of 105 West View St., husband of Betty Parnell Mauney, passed away May 6, 2001, at his home.
Born in McCormick County, he was a son of the late Arthur M. and Hester Long Mauney. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving with the military police, and a retired employee of Self Memorial Hospital. He was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Dennis L. Mauney of Woodbridge, Va.; a daughter, Patsy M. Squires of Monroe, Ga.; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 3 Wednesday at South Main Street Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Dave Patterson and Earl Troglin. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Aaron Parnell, Franklin Parnell, Randall Parnell, Darrell Parnell, David Coursey and Bo Coursey.
Honorary escorts are the pharmacy and volunteer staffs of Self Memorial Hospital. Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Blyth Funeral Home.

Infant Brianna Sellars
ABBEVILLE — Brianna Michelle Sellars, infant daughter of Robert and Chassidy McNeill Sellars, passed away May 7, 2001, at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood.
Survivors include her parents; a sister, Alyssa Sellars of the home; grandparents, Tracy McNeill and Angela McNeill, both of Abbeville, Jeannie Smart of Greenwood and Robert and Barbara Freeman of Calhoun Falls; and great-grandparents, Sam and Lucille McNeill and Charles and Linda Kirkland, all of Abbeville.
Graveside services will be at 2 Wednesday in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Sonny Noblin.
The family is at the home, 74 Horton Drive.

Freddene Massey Wiley
DETROIT — Mrs. Freddene Massey Wylie, 65, of 4907 Maple Wood, widow of Henry Wylie, passed away May 4, 2001, at Providence Hospital in Detroit.
Born in Rock Hill, S.C., she was a daughter of Nancy Bell Brown Massey and the late Frederick Massey Jr. She was a seamstress with John Johnson Co., Detroit.
Survivors include two sons, Jackie L. Massey of Hodges, S.C., and Jerry Wylie of Detroit; her mother of Catawba, S.C.; three brothers, Joe Massey of Rock Hill and Charlie Massey and Johnny Williams “J.W.” Massey, both of Catawba; a sister, Brenda Massey Jones of Catawba; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 Thursday at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill, conducted by the Rev. Robert Johnson III. Burial will be in Rock Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 6-8 Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of Charlie and Mary Massey, 193 Rowell Road, Catawba.

CALHOUN FALLS — Services for Mamie “Pat” Bell, of 1188 Seneca St. Extension, will be at noon Friday at Mount Olive Church of God Holiness, conducted by the Rev. James R. Lewis, assisted by the Rev. Johnnie Waller. The body will be placed in the church at 11.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are members of Calhoun Falls High School Class of 1974. The family is at the home.
