MARIETTA, Ga. — Barbara Ann Anderson Burnett, 72, of 296 Zelma Street, wife of Jerry W. Burnett Sr., died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at her home.
Born in Greenwood, S.C., she was a daughter of the late George Anderson Sr. and Mary Stockman Jamros. She graduated from Greenwood High School and attended the Spartanburg Hospital School of Nursing.
Formerly employed by Scurry Clinic in Greenwood, she later worked in various phases of the footwear industry for 27 years.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Terri Saxon Arnold of Atlanta and Candice Smith of Villa Rica; a son, Jerry W. Burnett Jr. of Levittown, Pa.; a sister, Marcella Cox Mundy of Greenwood; a brother, Joey Jamros Jr. of Greenwood; a half brother, Jack Anderson of Greenville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Blyth Funeral Home, Greenwood, conducted by the Rev. Fred Smith and the Rev. Wayne Weeks. Burial is in the First Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Anthony Howard, Zak Saxon, Joey Jamros III, Jack Anderson III, Donnie Henderson, Ronnie Henderson, Sonny Cox and David Thompson.
Honorary escorts are Robert Skelton, W.T. Keel, Pierce Stockman, William Coursey and Bo Hopkins. Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

GREENWOOD — Mary B. Haines, 95, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at McCormick Health Care Center. Born in Pendleton, Ind., she was a daughter of the late John and Stella Bebout Haines. She was a retired nurse’s aide with Self Memorial Hospital and served as a missionary to American Indians in New Mexico in the early 1960s. She was a member of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ.
Graveside services are at 2 Saturday in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. R.E. Marshall and the Rev. Ray Cole.
Honorary escorts are the men of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ.
Visitation is from 12:30-1:30 Saturday at Harley Funeral Home.

SALUDA — E.H. “Billy” Hare, 96, formerly of Church Street, husband of Dorothy Crouch Hare, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Saluda Nursing Center.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Joseph W. and Laura Shealy Hare. He graduated from Newberry College and retired from the S.C. Department of Transportation. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Lutheran Church, where he was a former church treasurer.
Survivors include his wife of Saluda; and a sister, Vanessa Taylor of Leesville.
Graveside services are at 11 a.m. today in Travis Park Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Ed Miller.
Visitation is from 10-10:45 at Ramey Funeral Home.

ANDERSON - James Cooper "J. C." Powell, 57, of 219 Roosevelt Drive, Anderson, SC, died Tuesday, January 15, 2002 at AnMed Health Center, Anderson.
Born in Orangeburg, he was a son of the late Cooper "Buster" and Eula Mae Chavis Powell. He was employed by Glen Raven Mills, Anderson, and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving is a son, James Anthony Powell of Lexington; two sisters, Mrs. E. J. (Maude Lee) Harvley of Greenwood and Mrs. Carl (Dorothy Jean) Reynolds of Swansea; two nieces, Tammy Lynn Harvley of Greenwood and Darlene Neese of Swansea; three nephews, Ronald Wayne & Kathy Harvley and Daniel Eugene & Stacie Harvley, all of Greenwood, and James Harvey & Patti Reynolds of Swansea; great nieces, Tammy Sherrill Harvley, Tara Dawn Harvley, Jean Nicole Neese, Jennifer Lee Harvley, Ashley Hope Harvley, Maggie Danielle Harvley, Leona Neese and Brianna Reynolds; great nephews, Richard Wayne Neese, James Bradley Reynolds, and Matthew Jordan Harvley; great great nephews, Anthony Chase Williams and Austin Wayne Harvley; step niece, Virginia Ruth Philbeck; two aunts, Christa Belle Birchmore of Orangeburg and Mrs. Willie (Loyce) Rast of Bowman; two uncles, Jessie & Susie Chavis and George & Linda Chavis, all of North.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Craig Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

GREENWOOD — Doris Lee Gillispie Ross, 72, of 503 Parkland Place Road, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at her home.
Born in Charleston, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Murl B. and Ethel Mae Gillispie. She was retired from the State of West Virginia.
Survivors include a daughter, Ethel Morris of the home; and a grandson of the home, Daniel Morris. The family is at the home.

GREENWOOD — Amanda Tathankia Drennon Thomas, 21, of 3803 Rock House Road, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at her home.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of Etta Ann Drennon and Henry Arthur Patterson Jr. She was a 1999 Greenwood High School graduate and a student at Piedmont Technical College, where she was enrolled in the registered nurse program. She was employed at Self Regional Healthcare.
Survivors include her parents, both of Greenwood; her adoptive parents, Willie James and Mattie Christopher of Greenwood; a son, Jaleel Romandez Thomas of Greenwood; a daughter, Nygeria Jalae Thomas of Greenwood; a brother, Roderick S. Drennon of Greenwood; two sisters, Yulandra Drennon of Greenville and Renae Patterson of Greenwood; two adopted brothers, Willie James Christopher Jr. of Greenwood and Aaron Christopher of Atlanta; maternal grandmother, Eva M. Drennon of Greenwood; and paternal grandfather, Henry Arthur Patterson Sr. of Greenwood.
Family members are at the homes of her grandmother, Eva M. Drennon, 111 Pinion Drive and of her adoptive parents, Willie James and Mattie Christopher, 217 Cannon Drive.

JOANNA — Barbara C. Thomas, 69, of 428 Browning Ave., wife of Robert L. Thomas, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Born in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Charlie W. and Zula Norris Chandler. She was a retired employee of Greenwood Mills, Blalock Plant and a member of First Baptist Church of Joanna. Survivors include her husband of the home; three sons, Robert Gary Thomas of Laurens, Charles E. Thomas of Spartanburg and Bradley Joe Thomas of Joanna; a daughter, Jill T. Alverson of Whitmire; two sisters, Virginia Hazel of Clinton and Brenda Smith of Joanna; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Thursday at Gray Funeral Home, Clinton, conducted by the Rev. Chuckie Chandler.

GREENWOOD — Romecia “Murdock” Thomas, 24, of 3803 Rock House Road, husband of Amanda Thomas, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at his home.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of Cynthia Thomas and the late Ronnie Miller. He was former owner of Thomas Janitorial Service, and he attended Macedonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother of Greenwood; a son, Jaleel Thomas of the home; two daughters, Ny’Jeria Thomas of the home and Kemiya Thomas of Greenville; eight stepbrothers, Roderick Drennon, Moses Carter, Rodney Carter, Tim Thomas, Greg Thomas, James Thomas, Stanley Carter and Quentin Carter, all of Greenwood; three sisters, Cokieca Thomas, Toshica Thomas and Tinkle Thomas, all of Greenwood; eight stepsisters, Nina Miller, Iteia Miller, Pamela Carter, Tracey Wheeler, Sharon Thomas, Eleanor Thomas, Deborah Thomas and Felicia Thomas, all of Greenwood; and his godmother who reared him, Emma Carter of Greenwood.

JOHNSTON — Annette Cullum Bartley, 69, of 807 Woodside Drive, wife of Robert E. Bartley, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at her home. Born in Ward, she was a daughter of the late James and Catherine Holmes Cullum and had lived in Johnston since 1957. She was a bookkeeper and sales manager for Bartley’s Heating and Refrigeration and a member of Johnston First Baptist Church, the Fidelis Sunday School Class and the Johnson-Holston Circle. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Kathy B. Allen of Edgefield and Susan B. Clark of Honea Path; a sister, Betty Fenlayson of Ward; a brother, J.B. Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Paul C. and Hazel Couch Burton. He graduated from Ware Shoals High School in 1961, attended Clemson University and retired from Solutia. A member of Mount Bethel United Methodist Church, he was also a member and teacher of the Men’s Sunday School Class and a past member and historian of the Greenwood Bass Masters. Surviving is his wife of the home. Services are at 2 Friday at Mount Bethel United Methodist Church, conducted by Dr. J. William Harris. Burial is in the church cemetery.
