GREENWOOD — George Berley Horne, 84, of 110 Fairforest Drive, husband of Mattie Olive Bowick Horne, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at the McCormick Health Care Center.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Preston Pickens and Annie Gertrude Horne Horne. He was retired from Greenwood Mills, Durst Plant and was a member of South Greenwood Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include his wife of the McCormick Health Care Center; two daughters, Mrs. Hal (Runelle) Gainey and Berley Ann Weathers, both of Greenwood; a son, George Terry Horne of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Jasper (Billy) Horne of Anderson; three sisters, Myrtle Beasley, Marie Judy and Geneva Davenport, all of Greenwood; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Tuesday at South Greenwood Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev. Lawrence Johnson and the Rev. James Young. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Pallbearers are Bobby Mabrey, Samuel N. Gainey, Jeffery Scott Mabrey, Tony Franklin Gaines, Harold Horne, Larry Judy, Mike Judy and Donnie Judy.
Honorary escorts are members of the Sanctuary Sunday School Class of South Greenwood Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Blyth Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

McCORMICK — Graveside services for Selena Elaine Jordan will be at 2 Tuesday at the Holy Reformed Episcopal Church Cemetery in Willington, conducted by the Rev. Paul Bush.
Pallbearers are friends of the family.
The family is at the home of a sister, Patricia Riley, Highway 378 East, Route 2.

Raymond L. Noblin Sr.
ABBEVILLE — Raymond Lee Noblin Sr., 80, of 313 Cambridge St., widower of Frances Bowie Noblin, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at The Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson.
Born in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late Alma Noblin and the late Macey Ballard Noblin George. His stepfather was the late John George. He graduated from Greenwood High School. He was employed at the Greenwood Police Department, where he reached the rank of lieutenant. He was then Chief of Police in Due West and retired from the Abbeville Police Department as a lieutenant. He and his wife formerly owned and operated Cambridge Street Grocery Store. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda N. Kirkland of Abbeville; a son, Raymond L. “Sonny” Noblin Jr. of Abbeville; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are at 2 Tuesday at Gilgal United Methodist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Virgil Manning.
Pallbearers are Woody Woodhurst, Tommy Ferguson, Johnny Moss, Charles Goodwin, Marion Johnson and John Smith.
Visitation is from 6-7 tonight at Harris Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of his son, Sonny Noblin.
Memorials may be made to The Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.

Myrtle B. Quade
ABBEVILLE — Myrtle Ross Burdette Quade, 73, of 1 Woodview Lane, widow of James R. Quade, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Iva, she was a daughter of the late Robert Mason and Rosa Latham Burdette. She was employed by a nursing home and also did home health care work. She was a volunteer with Whitten Center in Clinton. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church of Abbeville.
Survivors include a daughter, Dianne Q. Hilley of Abbeville; a son, Marshall Quade of Calhoun Falls; a sister, Sara Lindsey of Spartanburg; three grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
Graveside services are at 3:30 Tuesday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, conducted by the Rev. James Long.
Visitation is from 2-3 Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of her son, Marshall Quade, 5573 Highway 72, Calhoun Falls.
Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 117, Abbeville, S.C. 29620.

Leon Robinson Sr.
YORK —Leon Howell Robinson Sr., 80, of 2369 Wood Road, husband of Mildred Redmon Robinson, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at his home.
Born in York County, he was a son of Thomas Harris Robinson and Jessie Howell Robinson. He was the widower of Garyleen Nivens Robinson. He was a retired lineman with Southern Bell. He attended Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church, where he was a deacon. He was a World War II Army veteran and member of the South Carolina National Guard.
Survivors include his wife of the home; four sons, Eddie Franklin Robinson of Rock Hill and James Pratt Robinson, John Patrick Robinson and Leon Howell Robinson Jr., all of York; a daughter, Brenda Robinson Moss of Hickory Grove; 2 stepdaughters, Nancy Gardner of Sumter and Diane Evans of Rock Hill; three brothers, Gene Robinson of Rock Hill, John B. Robinson of Boone, N.C. and Joe L. Robinson of Douglasville, Ga.; two sisters, Helen R. Adkins of York and Annie Lou R. Pracht of Greenwood; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services are at 3 today at Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Thomas B. McPhail, assisted by the Rev. Ray Long. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation was last night at Bratton Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Beth Shiloh Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 1184 N. Shiloh Road, York, S.C. 29745 or to Hospice Care, Liberty St., York, S.C. 29745.

Hunter Anderson
DUE WEST — Hunter Anderson, 93, formerly of 6 Gorden St., widower of Eloise Ellis Anderson, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at McCormick Health Care Center.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late George and Alice Miller Anderson. He was a former employee at Erskine College and a member of Mount Lebanon A.M.E. Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara A. Tompkins of Due West; two sisters, Mrs. Oliver Hawthorne of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mrs. Maggie A. Keeter of Spindale, N.C.; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Services are at 2 Wednesday at Mount Lebanon A.M.E. Church, Due West, conducted by the Rev. Larry Nelson and the Rev. James Kay. The body will be placed in the church at 12:30. Burial is in Mount Zion A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Abbeville County.
No wake is planned.
The family is at the home of Barbara Tompkins, 3 Gorden St., Due West.

Ella Mae Brown
JOHNSTON — Ella Mae Turner Brown, 92, of Route 2, formerly of Blyth Road, Greenwood, widow of Asbury Brown, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at Edgefield Health Care Center.
Born in Lincolnton, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Gideon herd and Mary Jesse Brown Turner. She retired from Greenwood Mills Mathews Plant after 49 years of service and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was a member of Mathews United Methodist Church, Greenwood, for more than 70 years, where she was a member of the Ladies Bible Class and the United Methodist Women. She attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Johnston and the WELCA.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Perry (Sybil) Morris of Johnston; a brother, James Ellis Turner of Greenwood; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Services are at 2 Thursday at Harley Funeral Home, Greenwood, conducted by the Rev. Charles W. Koons. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are William Morris, Kevin Morris, Jimmy Lagrone, Watson Goldman, Jimmy Campbell and Timothy Newman.
Visitation is from 1-2 Thursday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home, Highway 121, Johnston.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Mrs. James R. "Susie Mae" Butler
GREENWOOD - Susie Mae Tullis Butler, 79, formerly of 726 Truett Street, widow of James Robert Butler, died Monday, February 11, 2002 at Magnolia Manor.
Born in Abbeville, she was a daughter of the late John and Mabel Self and was raised by her maternal grandparents, Joe & Lizzie Tullis of Abbeville. She was retired from Self Memorial Hospital as a nurses aide. She was a member of Abney Memorial Baptist Church and attended First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Wayne "BoBo" Butler; three sisters, Mildred Tullis, Fannie Lou Tullis and Floreen Medlock and two brothers, Aaron Tullis and John Henry Tullis.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary B. Rice of Greenwood; three sons, William Marion "Bill" Butler of Hodges, John Michael "Mike" Butler of Ninety Six, and Charles Earl "Chuck" Butler of Greenwood; a sister, Sara Cheek of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Kenneth Britton "Britt" Rice, William Joseph "Joey" Butler, William Christopher "Chris" Butler, Mary Susan "SuSu" Butler and Robert Ernest "Robbie" Butler; and six great-grandchildren. Nancy Hanke of Greenwood was raised in the home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Ellison and the Rev. Fred Smith officiating. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Rodgers, Eugene Price, Johnny Reeves, James "Bubba" Cothran, Ricky Cothran and Kyle Hanke.
The bearer of the US flag that was presented at her husband's funeral will be Charles "Buddy" Reeves. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.
The family is at the home of her son, Bill Butler, 4704 Highway 246 North, Hodges.

TIMMONSVILLE — Mary Ellen Howard Jones, widow of the Rev. Dallas Jones, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002.
Born in Lamar, she was a daughter of the late Louie Burns and Hattie Fleming Howard. She attended Timmonsville schools, received a bachelor of arts degree from Claflin University, received a master’s from S.C. State College, and was an educator in Greenwood public schools for more than 30 years.
Survivors include two brothers, James Earl Howard of Philadelphia and Willie Glover Howard of Columbia; and a sister, Lela Virginia James of Timmonsville.
Services will be at 3 Wednesday at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, with burial in Florence County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is at the home of a sister-in-law, Edneta Conner, at 4516 Belmont Circle, Florence.
Bacote-Eaddy Funeral Home of Timmonsville is in charge.

Bruce Alexander McLaughlin
GREENWOOD — Bruce “Mighty Mack” McLaughlin, of 1604 Evans Pond Road, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Services will be announced by Parks Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Bobby Temple
GREENWOOD — Bobby Jones Temple, 65, of 111 Pine Drive, husband of Shelby Ballenger Temple, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at the VA Medical Center in Augusta.
Born in Due West, he was a son of the late James Mac and Myra Clinkscales Temple. He retired from Winn-Dixie after 39 years and served in the Navy. He was a member of New Market Baptist Church, where he served on the Board of Deacons and was a member of the Men’s Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Glenn Temple of Ninety Six and Robert Temple of Laurens; a daughter, Sandra Temple of Ninety Six; four sisters, Shirley McCuen, Betty Pace and Linda Merchant, all of Greenwood and Sara Moulis of Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother, James Temple of Virginia Beach, Va.; and six grandchildren.
Services are at 4 Wednesday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Buddy Wiles. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Billy Moon, Bill Clinkscales, Gregg McCuen, Dale Cole, David Dixon and Walter “Ike” Temple.
Honorary escorts are members of the Men’s Sunday School Class of New Market Baptist Church and employees of Winn-Dixie.

Born in Ware Shoals, he was a son of the late Jack and Jimmie Redden Wood. He was employed by Fluor Corp. at Solutia and served in the Army. He was a member of Mount Bethel United Methodist Church, Ware Shoals, and attended Lowell Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Jacqueline Simmons of Hodges; a brother, Joseph Randolph Wood of Greenville; and two grandchildren.
Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Bob Allen and the Rev. David Templeton. Burial is in Mount Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Frankie Setzler, H.T. Goldman, Jimmy Pinson, Tracy George, George Swancey and Tommy Lindley.
