William ‘Sack’ Freeman
ABBEVILLE — William C. “Sack” Freeman, 60, of 506 Vienna St., husband of Virginia Hazzard Freeman, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in McCormick, he was a son of Mozell Wiggleton Freeman and the late Jasper Freeman. He was an Army veteran, a 1960 graduate of Mims High School and a correctional officer at McCormick Correctional Institution. He was a member of Pine Grove A.M.E. Church, Plum Branch, where he was a steward and trustee, and a member of Dreher Masonic Lodge No. 370.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother of Plum Branch; three sons, Deon Freeman, Delano Freeman and Donataye Freeman, all of the home; a daughter, Devona Freeman of the home; two brothers, Johnny Freeman of Plum Branch and Bunias Freeman of Cerritos, Calif.; two sisters, Evelyn Quarles of Taylors and Linda Hopkins of Baltimore; and two grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Brown and Walker Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Birma Corley
BATESBURG — James Birma Corley, 83, of 469 Double Bridges Road, widower of Sara Christine Perdue Corley, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at Saluda Nursing Center.
Born in Saluda, he was a son of the late Joshua Nathaniel “Doc” and Ruth Matilda Jennings Corley. He was a former construction worker and owner and operator of Corley’s Horse Auction for 30 years. A World War II Army veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star, he was a member of Sardis Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Glenn Corley of Saluda and Billie Corley of Batesburg; a brother, Jesse Corley of Batesburg; two sisters, Imo Matthews of Saluda and Sadie Quattlebaum of Leesville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Saturday at Sardis Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Ramey Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of a son, Billie Corley.
Ramey Funeral Home, Saluda, is in charge.

William ‘Sack’ Freeman
ABBEVILLE — Services for William C. “Sack” Freeman, of 506 Vienna St., are at 1 Saturday at Pine Grove A.M.E. Church, Plum Branch, conducted by the Rev. W.O. Vance and the Rev. Clinton J. Hall II. The body will be placed in the church at 11:30. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Abbeville. Pallbearers are members of Dreher Masonic Lodge No. 370.
Flower bearers are members of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Missionary Society.
The family is at the home.

Theoler Hill
SALUDA — Theoler Holloway Hill, 73, of 1288 Bonham Road, widow of Fellie Hill, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at her home.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie and Minnie Dozier Holloway. She was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church, the Women Home Aide Society, Mine Creek Burial Aide Society and the Ever-Ready Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Etta Hill of Saluda; three brothers, Lonnie H. Holloway of Saluda, Ernest Holloway of Aiken and James Coleman of Bronx, N.Y.; and two sisters, Sallie M. Harris and Minnie Williams, both of Columbia.
Services are at 3 Saturday at Lockhart Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Richard Dozier. Burial is in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Pallbearers are nephews and cousins.
Flower bearers are nieces and cousins.
The family is at the home.

Revius ‘SheaDavis
GREENWOOD — Revius Deshea “SheaDavis, 26, of 633 Foundry Road, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at his home.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of Lottie Davis Bishop and Willie Bowie. He attended Bethlehem Church of God and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1993.
Survivors include his parents of Greenwood; maternal grandparents, James and Christine Davis of Greenwood; maternal great-grandmother, Lottie Cloud of Greenwood; three brothers, Jarvis Davis of Raleigh, N.C., Donald Bishop of the home and Brian Bowie of Greenwood; and three sisters, Vanessa Bowie, Shanta Jones and Chinique Wideman, all of Greenwood.
Services are 3 p.m. Sunday at Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. James A. Speed. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are cousins and friends.
Honorary escorts are members of Greenwood High School Class of 1993.
Visitation is from 7-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Donald Jameson
WARE SHOALS — Donald Robert Jameson, 38, of 35 Dairy St., husband of Jean Lancaster Jameson, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of Robert “Red” and Margaret Johnson Jameson. He was employed by B.F. Motor Credit Co. of Easley and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his parents of Abbeville; four daughters, Dawn Manley of Greenwood, Leslie Manley, Maggie Jameson and Haley Jameson, all of the home; a brother, David Jameson of Pendleton; a sister, Linda Wilber of Chapin and maternal grandmother, Doris Johnson of Covington, Va.
Services are at 3 Sunday at First Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Leon Jones, Dr. Marcus Bishop and Robert Emory. Burial is in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Russell Scott, Kamarco Butler, Tommy Davis, Phil Bush, Bryan Batson and Jeff McAllister.
Honorary pallbearers are former coaching colleagues from high school and college and members of the Garner Memorial Sunday School Class.
Visitation is tonight from 7-9 at Parker-White Funeral Home.
The family is at 12 N. Greenwood Ave. Extension and at 202 Dundas Road, Abbeville.

Fannie Lee Chasteen Barfield
GREENWOOD — Mrs. Fannie Lee Chasteen Barfield, 84, formerly of 500 Chase Ave., wife of James Leo Barfield, died February 15, 2002, at Magnolia Manor.
Born in Banks County Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Farin Hollis and Ella Gertrude Furr Chasteen. She was retired from Greenwood Mills Mathews Plant, and a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, and was a charter member of the South Greenwood Church of God. A fine Christian lady, she served her church, family, and community well. She made many beautiful crocheted items for friends and families. She was an excellent cook, and was noted for her coconut cakes.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jim Barfield of Rockhill; sisters, Emma Hopkins of Greenwood, and Mary Wilson; and brother, Ernest Willie Chasteen, both of Commerce, GA.
Surviving is her husband of 67 years; two sons, Wayne Barfield of Harlem, Georgia, and Blake Barfield of Greenwood; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Monday, February 18, 2002, at South Greenwood Church of God, with the Rev. James Allen, Rev. James Wiley, and Rev. Milton Hannah officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Robert Fisher, Sr., Robert Fisher, Jr., Joey Hough, Richard Higginbotham, Jimmy Davis, Lee Hopkins, Ralph Thomas, and Larry Weathers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
The family is at the home of her son Blake Barfield; 107 Lakewood Dr., Greenwood.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Connie Maxwell Children’s Home; 810 Maxwell Ave. Greenwood, SC 29646.

Clara Cooper
NINETY SIX — Clara Jacobs Cooper, 72, of 4406 Highway 246 South, widow of the late William Cooper, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at her home.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Ellioth Jacobs and the late Mary Annie Hill Jacobs. She graduated from Bettis Academy in Edgefield. She was an Assembly Line Worker in the Auto Industry in New York City. She was a member of Old Mount Zion Baptist Church in Epworth, where she was a member of the Missionaries Society and the Pastor Aids Club. While living in New York, she attended Ebenezer Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Saluda Highway Community Club.
Surviving is a sister, Effie Nicholson of Ninety Six.
The family is at the home of a sister, Effie Nicholson, 4410 Highway 246.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

Roy Smith
NINETY SIX — Roy Lee Smith, 86, of 103 Johnston Road, husband of Lucille Faulkner Smith, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at his home.
Born in Alto, Ga., he was a son of the late Callaway and Ada Holcomb Smith. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He formerly owned and operated Smith’s Highway Service in Ninety Six. A member of Ninety Six First Baptist Church and the Men’s Bible Class of the Church, he was also a life member of Eukera Masonic Lodge and the Star Fort Post of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Annette S. Latham of Greenwood; a son, R. Dayne Smith of Monroeville, Ala.; four sisters, Thelma S. Harris, Zelma S. Bolin, Alma S. Williams and Lois S. Moore, all of Rock Hill; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services are at 11 Monday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Robin Fisher and the Rev. Steve Justice. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Jeff Smith, Jeff Blum, Russ Cook, Cecil Lowe, Everette Parker and Eddy Carter.
Honorary escorts are members of the Men’s Bible Class of First Baptist Church along with Roy Tweed, Duane Dorn, William Fisher, Donald Goldman, Jim Voiselle, Tommy Price and Gene Pinson.

LAURENS — Frances Tucker Doolittle, 65, of 112 Douglas St., widow of Allen E. Doolittle, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at Laurens County Hospital.
Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late Luther Jack Tucker and Edna Thornhill Tucker Manley. She was retired from Palmetto Spinning and a member of Welcome Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Doolittle of the home; a son, Lamar Doolittle of Gray Court; a brother, Oscar L. Tucker of Martin, Ga.; two sisters, Doris Schuster of Chelmsford, Mass. and Linda “Gerry” Dalton of Belton and four grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Tuesday at Kennedy Mortuary, conducted by the Rev. J.B. Abercrombie. Burial is in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-8:30 tonight at The Kennedy Mortuary.

MOUNTAIN REST — Grace Speed Galloway, 94, formerly of Mountain Rest, widow of Robert P. Galloway, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at Lila Doyle Health Care Facility in Seneca.
Born in Clayton, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Jeff and Alice Goble Speed. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Mountain Rest Baptist Church and a former Sunday School Teacher of the Adult Ladies Class.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Noah C. (Lois) Nicholson of Liberty, Mrs. James L. (Myrtle) King of Mountain Rest and Mrs. Carl M. (Alberta) Sullivan of Greenwood; three brothers, George Speed, Frank Speed and Ray Speed, all of Clayton, Ga.; two sisters, Ethel Roberts of Covington, Ga. and Maria Beck of Clayton, Ga.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2:30 Tuesday at Mountain Rest Baptist Church. Burial is in Mountain Rest Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church prior to visitation.
Visitation is from 1-2:30 Tuesday at Mountain Rest Baptist Church.
