Willie Robinson
GEORGETOWN — A memorial service for Willie Isaac Robinson, 37, will be held at 3 p.m. (visitation 1-3 p.m.) today at Wilds’ Daughter Home for Funerals. Born in Marion to Willie and Mary Furnace James, he died November 8, 2004. Surviving are his mother; sisters, Rose Wright, Debra Finklea and Cathy Robinson; foster sisters, Barbara Singletary and Beverly Davis; foster brother, Ronald Robinson.
Thomas Sellers
CHESTERFIELD — Services for Thomas Sellers, 61, of 305 Mill Street, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Flemming Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Airy AME Zion Church Cemetery. Mr. Sellers died November 4, 2004.
Madeline Stokes
WEST COLUMBIA — Services for Madeline Tuten Stokes, 87, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel, with burial in Southland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Stokes, wife of the late David E. Stokes, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004. Born in Blackshear, Ga., she was a daughter of the late James Lewis and Bertha Davis Tuten. She was a member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church.
Surviving are her son, Ronald L. Stokes and his wife, Lari H. Stokes of Eastover; sister, Susie V. Hammond of Keystone Heights, Fla.; brother, Rudolph Tuten of Melbourne, Fla.; and grandson, Ronald L. Stokes, II of West Columbia.
Rev. Reese Miles
SCRANTON — Rev. Reese S. Miles, 75, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004, in Carolinas Hospital, Florence, after an illness.
Rev. Miles was born in Florence County, a son of the late Bob and Carrie Kirby Miles. He was a graduate of Emmanuel College, Franklin Springs, Georgia, with further studies at the University of Georgia. He was an ordained minister of the South Carolina Conference of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, Inc. He pastored the following churches from 1953 to 1998: Willow Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church, Florence; Matthews Tabernacle Pentecostal Holiness Church, Lake City; Sumter First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Sumter; Lancaster First Pentecostal Holiness Church, Lancaster; Socastee Pentecostal Holiness Church, Myrtle Beach; Stone Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church, Pamplico; and had served as Interim Pastor from 2000 to 2004 for Camp Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church, Lake City. He served on the Conference Board for 21 years and served on the General Board of Education and the General Finance Board for the International Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Doris Anderson Miles of Scranton; four daughters, Gloria (Rev. Mark) Evans of Scranton, Rhetta (Rev. Ed) Hanna of Turbeville, Marcia M. Ramsey and Nelwyn Miles, both of Florence; four sisters, Buena McAllister of Scranton, Rose Kent of Myrtle Beach, Emmie Coker of Turbeville and Barbara Davis of Florence; and five grandchildren, Matthew D. Evans, Joshua Evans, Daniel Evans, all of Scranton, Meredith Hanna and Whitman Reese Hanna, both of Turbeville. He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert Miles and Sam Miles, one sister, Carrie Mae Godwin and a granddaughter, Dana Michelle Ramsey.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 13, 2004, in the Robinson Memorial Auditorium with burial in the Camp Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
The family will have visitation from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Friday evening in the funeral home.

Margaret McArthur
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Mrs. Margaret Cannon McArthur, of 223 Rivenoak Drive, Fayetteville, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2004, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Hartsville, S.C., the daughter of the late James Ervin Cannon Sr. and Rosa M. Cannon.
She attended Winthrop College and graduated from the University of South Carolina.
She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church and served as deacon and was awarded the Woman of the Church Service Award and Lifetime Membership Award.
Mrs. McArthur was also a member of the Lafayette Garden Club, the Sewing Club and Tuesday Night “Fun Bunch” Club.
For many years, Mrs. McArthur worked for the Antique and Gift Center in Fayetteville.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church by Dr. John Wright Coker Jr. Entombment will be in the First Presbyterian Church Columbarium.
Surviving are her three children, Ashley McArthur Rehr and spouse David K. Rehr, both of Arlington, Va., Paul H. McArthur Jr. and spouse Holley D. McArthur, both of Charlotte and Allison McArthur LaMontagne and spouse Daniel J. LaMontagne, both of Holly Springs; and nine grandchildren, Charlotte, Sarah and Mary Daniel McArthur, Andrew, Emily, Harrison and Henry Rehr, and Grayson and Clair LaMontagne.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

Faye King
HARTSVILLE — Funeral services for Faye Harrell King, age 60, who died Nov. 10, will be held Friday at 3:00 from the Gum Branch Baptist Church. Rev. Jeff Gardner will officiate. Burial will be in the Gum Branch Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
Faye was born in Darlington Co. a daughter of the late Bill & Mary King Harrell. She was a member of Gum Branch Baptist Church and the Hartsville Moose Lodge.
Surviving are her husband: Richard King, Hartsville; sons: Eric King, Hartsville, Danny King, Hartsville; sisters: Margaret Crisp & Ann Gilbert, Hartsville, Betty Oldfield, West Palm Beach, Fla., Carolyn Hampton, Melbourne, Fla., Willie Tatum, Myrtle Beach; grandson: Fowler King, Hartsville. She was preceded in death by a sister Helen Bass.
Willie Mae Hoepner
COLUMBIA — Mrs. Willie Mae Hoepner, 86, passed away early Tuesday morning, November 9, 2004.
Family visitation will be Thursday, November 11, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Friday, November 12, 2004 at Rose Hill Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Craig Wilkes officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Willie Mae was born to Thomas and Mary Peach on December 22, 1917 in Westville, S.C., and attended Winthrop College. She was a librarian at the Charleston Free Library during WWII where she met and married Clarence Frank Hoepner, who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by a daughter, Angela Riberdy.
Surviving are her children, Linda Hulme and Deanna Livesey; four grandchildren, David and Samantha Riberdy; Debbie and Christina Livesey; and two great-grandchildren, Beth and Renee Riberdy.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will be greatly missed by her family.
Louise Hartin
SUMTER — Louise Sharp Hartin, 100, widow of Edward W. Hartin, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at a local nursing center.
Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late John Sharp and the late Ella Setzler Sharp.
Mrs. Hartin was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Constance Herbert Sunday School class. She was a former President of the Women’s Society of Christian Service and a former Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Sumter Art Association, The Book Club, the Historical Society and the Gay Gardener’s Club.
Surviving are a son, Ed Hartin, Jr. and wife Laurelle of Sumter; a daughter, Dorothy Hartin Rhame of Greensboro, N.C.; four grandchildren, Donna Windham, Honey Truesdale, Joseph Burns Rhame, Jr., and Edward Hartin Rhame; six great-grandchildren, Christy Hall, Stacie Windham, Mary Elizabeth Rhame, Patricia Rhame, Joseph Burns Rhame, III, and William Reaves Rhame; and one great-great-grandchild, Riley Hall.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen Taylor, Rev. Phil Jones and Rev. Brad Gray officiating.
Burial will be private in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Administrative Board of Trinity United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends in the Church Parlor following the services and other times at the home of her son, 718 Reynolds Road.

Martha Jenkins
ST. HELENA ISLAND — Martha Holmes “Bidda” Jenkins, 81, of St. Helena Island, SC, died Nov. 7, 2004, in Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are noon Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at Scottsville Baptist Church, St. Helena Island, SC, with burial in Scottsville Baptist Church Cemetery. Chisholm Galloway Home for Funerals, Beaufort, SC, is in charge.
Born May 17, 1923, on St. Helena Island to James Holmes and Susan Watkins Holmes, she received her formal education at the Towne McDonald School. At an early age she became a member of the St. Joseph Baptist Church. After her marriage to Jeffery Jenkins, Sr. in 1944, she became a member of the Scottsville Baptist Church. She was a church worker and served in many ministries; most recently she was a voice with the Senior Choir. Mrs. Jenkins was a former member of the Blue Mountain Lodge, the Seven Sisters Union and the South Pine Lady’s Union. Mrs. Jenkins was a cook and was employed at the Shrimp Shack Restaurant for a number of years.
Surviving are daughters, Tamer J. Middleton and Susan Jenkins, both of St. Helena Island, SC; sons, Jeffery Jenkins of Chesepeake, VA, Thomas Jenkins of Virginia Beach, VA, Eugene Jenkins of Randallstown, MD, Norman Jenkins of Columbia, SC; adopted sons, Anthony Jenkins and Thomas “Kong” Middleton, both of St. Helena Island, SC; sisters, Albertha Holmes Heyward, Mary Holmes Legree and Dr. Annie Mae Brown Allen, all of St. Helena Island, SC, Josephine B. Simmons of Green Pond, SC; brothers, James Holmes, Jr. and Louis Brown, both of St. Helena Island, SC, William Brown of Green Pond, SC; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Jeffery Jenkins Sr.; son, Fred Jenkins; brother, Harold Lee Brown; sister, Eunice Brown.
Joyce Kummer

Elizabeth Hudspeth
SUMTER — Services for Elizabeth Jane Giroux Hudspeth, 78, are 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Anne’s Catholic Church. Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Bullock Funeral Home. Born in Blue Island, Ill., to Dennis and Hazel Gregg Giroux, she died Nov. 10, 2004. Surviving: children, Julie Raffensberger, Randall Erley, Sharon Layton; siblings, Charlotte Allen, Robert, John Giroux, Jean Scherer; grandchildren; great-grands.
Peter Holmes
HOPE MILLS, N.C. — Retired USAF SMSGT Peter William Holmes, 64, of Hope Mills, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, in Balad, Iraq, of natural causes. He was doing what he loved best, serving his country.
Peter was born in North Adams, MA, on July 18, 1940, and was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothea Holmes Battistoli and Retired U.S. Army SFC Thomas Holmes. Pete was introduced to the military at an early age, traveling with his parents until he joined the Air Force in 1959. There he served his country until he retired on Nov. 30, 1987. Those 28 years took him all over the world.
In 1964, while stationed at Myrtle Beach AFB, he met and married Carol Jane Edge of Loris, SC. Together they raised three children: Tracy Renee Britt, now deceased, Audrey Rebecca Hart and her husband Kenneth, and USAF SRA William Thomas Holmes and his wife Tish.
In addition to two children, he is survived by his wife of 40 years Carol; three sisters, Cela Vellines and her husband Charles, Linda Toothman, and Lois Freeland and her husband Thomas; and seven grandchildren.
Other survivors include twenty-three nieces and nephews, and six cousins.
The loves of his life were his wife, his children, and his grandchildren: Kacey Jane and Andie Britt, Kenny, K. Dale, Kevin and Kaleb Hart, and Tyler Thomas Holmes.
This country has lost a devoted patriot.
Visitation will be at Reeves Funeral Home on Sunday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. with services to follow immediately after.
Interment with full military honors will be on Friday, Nov. 19 at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
