ABBEVILLE — Services for Claude London Sr. are 1 p.m. Saturday at Haigler Street Church of Christ, conducted by Brother Raymond Pressley. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers are Howard Aiken, Dennis Tucker, Joe Mattison, Moses Mattison, Samie London and Leroy London. Honorary pallbearers are David Belton, Amos Tucker and Albert Killingsworth.
Flower bearers are Syrita Jones, Tiffany Jones, Shanta Calhoun, Daniella Jackson, Erin London and Tecoya London.
The family is at the home of a sister, Cleo Aiken, 91 Mount Olive Church Road, and at the home of his wife, Mamie London, 109 Virginia Drive.
Brown and Walker Funeral Home is in charge.

Maude C. Smith
WOODRUFF - Maude Chesney Smith, 83, of 651 Gray Street, wife of the late Toy E. Smith, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at Magnolia Manor in Greenwood, S.C.
A native of Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late John Marion and Della Trammell Chesney. She was a former employee of Reeves Brothers Mills, Mill #2 in Woodruff.
Mrs. Smith was a member of West End Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Fred W. and Brenda P. Smith of Greenwood; a brother, Carl Chesney of Hartford, Alabama; three granddaughters, Carolyn S. Alms of Easley, Christina Smith of Central, Susan S. Sheets of Greenwood.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 6th from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. prior to the service at Lanford Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 6, 2002 at Lanford Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Kenny Moore.
Burial will follow at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home of Rev. Fred W. and Brenda Smith, 2115 Mt. Moriah Road, Greenwood.
Lanford Funeral Home, Woodruff is in charge of arrangements.

Reuben Blackwell
WARE SHOALS — Reuben B. Blackwell, 85, of 5349 Highway 252, husband of Dorothy Shaw Blackwell, died Monday, April 8, 2002, at his home.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Ben and Essie Belle Martin Blackwell. He served in the Air Force during World War II and retired as a warrant officer. He also worked in maintenance at Richloom (formerly Pilgrim Curtain Co.) and was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, James Richard Blackwell of the home; a brother, Joel L. Blackwell of Honea Path; a sister, Eunice Ridge of Mauldin; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services are 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Garden of Memories, conducted by the Rev. Michael Bingham.
Pallbearers are Bobby Spence, Kent Boles, Frank Weathers, Ray Smith and Pat Tafta.
Visitation is from 1-2:30 Wednesday at Parker-White Funeral Home.
Family members are at their respective homes.

Tillman L. Cole
COLUMBIA — Tillman Lawrence Cole, 65, of 3805 Anwood Drive, died Sunday, April 7, 2002, in Saluda County.
Born in Whitmire, he was a son of Leroy Cole and Doris Sinclair Horton. He was a retired Air Force staff sergeant and was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Thelma Cole, of Newberry; a sister, Connie Hicks of Ninety Six; half sister, Sandra Raynovic of Alaska; a stepsister and two stepbrothers.
Memorial services are 2 p.m. Friday at Gray Funeral Home in Whitmire.
Visitation is from 1-2 Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the children’s charity of one’s choice.

Lena Davis
GREENWOOD — Lena Cogburn Davis, 84, of 925 Woodlawn Road, wife of Eugene Page Davis, died Monday, April 8, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Visitation is at Blyth Funeral Home from 3-4 Thursday.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home.

Gladys Bell Dean
WINNSBORO — Gladys Bell Dean, 86, formerly of 1824 HiSierra Drive, Columbia, widow of Simmie O. Dean, died Friday, April 5, 2002, at Fairfield County Hospital.
Born in Johnston, she was a daughter of the late Nelson and Annie Daniels Bell.
Survivors include three daughters, R. Elizabeth Myers of Hempstead, N.Y., Alice C. Murphy and Vickie Y. Tarvin, both of Columbia; three sisters, Alice Dean and Adrienne Johnson, both of New Jersey and Harriet McDaniels of Columbia; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Mine Creek Baptist Church in Saluda, with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is at the home of a daughter, Vickie Y. Tarvin, 177 Chartwell Road, Columbia.
Butler & Sons Funeral Home, Saluda, is in charge.

George E. Dorn
NINETY SIX — George E. Dorn, 53, of 7322 Highway 25 South, husband of Vickie Moore Dorn, died Monday, April 08, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Edgefield County, he was a son of the late James Whitty and Nella Ouzts Dorn. He was a former correctional officer with McCormick Correctional Institute, and he served in the Army. He was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Charlene Bowie of Troy and Michelle Dorn of Bradley; two sisters, MyrlonSmith of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Eunice Horne of Greenwood; and two brothers, Buddy Dorn of Greenwood and Chester Ouzts of Ninety Six.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Wednesday in Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Timothy Thomas and the Rev. Billy Reynolds.
Pallbearers are Greg Rushton, Kevin Whatley, Richard Bowie, Jay Reynolds, John Reynolds and Dennis Reynolds.
Visitation is in the church from 1-2 Wednesday.
The family is at the home of Warren and Sue Reynolds, 120 Stoker Road.

‘Cliff’ Fleming Jr.
LEXINGTON — Clifton A. “Cliff” Fleming Jr., 75, of Lake Murray, died Sunday, April 7, 2002, at Lexington Medical Center.
Born in Abbeville, he was a son of the late Clifton and Daisy McMahan Fleming. He was a World War II Navy veteran, a retiree of Lexington Sportswear and a member of Pressly Memorial A.R.P. Church. He restored Ford Model A’s.
Survivors include a son, Eric McKinney of Batesburg; six daughters, Katherine “Kathy” Fleming of the home, Ginger Gross of Cayce, Mickie Timmons, June Hewitt and Risa Garris, all of Southport, N.C., and Dawn McKinney of Batesburg; a sister, Wilma Fleming Flanagan of McCormick; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Wednesday in Overbrook Cemetery, Highway 221, McCormick, conducted by the Rev. Eldredge Kelley.
Pallbearers are Herbert Fleming, Perry Chamberlain, Kneuffer Fleming, Todd Timmons, Johnny Mac Garris, Greg Gross and Bill Bruce.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Strom Funeral Home, McCormick.
The family is at the home of his sister, Wilma Flanagan, Little River Cottage Site, McCormick.
Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society, the Heart Fund or to a charity of one’s choice.

Kara McClain
DONALDS — Kara Inez Brock McClain, 88, formerly of 122 Nickles St., widow of Colie Blease McClain, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, at Abbeville Nursing Home.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Nettie Brock. She retired from Oxford Shirt Plant and was a member of Donalds Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Clyde McClain of Belton, Bobby McClain of Honea Path and Johnny McClain of Abbeville; four daughters, Lillie Gambrell and Nancy Hill, both of Honea Path, Joyce Sartin of Greenwood and Sybil Bowie of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Mary Clamp of Honea Path and Martha McClain of Belton; 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 today at Donalds Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Jerry Hill, Harold Miller and Dean Webb. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Keowee Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family is at the home of a son, Bobby McClain, 39 Brock Circle, Honea Path.
Memorials may be made to Donalds Baptist Church, Donalds, S.C. 29638.

John Wesley Rappley
GREENWOOD — John Wesley Rappley, 61, of 430 Pelzer St., husband of Emily Mims Rappley, died Monday, April 8, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late John Wesley Rappley Sr. and Maggie Norman Rappley. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; five sons, Randy Rappley, Bryant Rappley and Mandrikus Childs, all of Greenwood, Clayton Rappley of San Diego and Carlos Morton of Greenville; eight daughters, Barbara Strong, Linda Edwards, Shirley Williams, Cynthia Martin, Valerie Sanders, Vickie Goode, Sheila Rappley and Fredricka Briggs, all of Greenwood; a sister, Sally Brown of Greenwood; 30 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home and at the home of his sister, 120 Lisa Drive.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home.

Carroll Roundtree
TROY — Carroll Roundtree, 51, of 3323 Scotts Ferry Road, husband of Annie Marie Palmore Roundtree, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, at his home.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Carroll Roundtree Sr. and Bersie Carroll Roundtree. He was a member of Flint Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his paternal grandmother, Thelma Mathis of Greenwood; a son, Eric Deon Sayles of the home; four daughters, Jessica Roundtree of the home, Carolyn Farrow, Tonja White and Christine Butler, all of Greenwood; a brother, Ezzard Charles Roundtree of Greenwood; two sisters, Dorothy Moss of Ninety Six and Madelyn Moss of Troy; a goddaughter reared in the home, Quadisha Freeman; and five grandchildren.
Services are 2 Thursday at Flint Hill Missionary Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. William H. Booker Sr., assisted by the Revs. John R. Brightharp, Ronnie Williams and Willie Evans. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are nephews and Raymond Phillips.
Flower bearers are nieces.
Visitation is Wednesday evening at the home of a sister, Dorothy Moss, 202 Timothy Lane, Ninety Six.

Relee D. Thomas
CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — Relee Dubose Thomas, 87, of 2286 N. Taylor Road, formerly of Calhoun Falls, S.C., widow of the Rev. Samuel Thomas Sr., died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at University Hospital in Cleveland.
Born in Calhoun Falls, she was a daughter of the late Willie and Marsha Dubose. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Olive Church of God Holiness in Calhoun Falls.
Survivors include six sons, Samuel Thomas Jr. of Peoria, Ill., Garfield Thomas of Greenville, N.C., Deacon David Thomas of Calhoun Falls, Josh Thomas and Jimmy Thomas, both of Columbia, S.C., and Bruce Thomas of Decatur, Ga.; eight daughters, Alberta Dunn of Cleveland Heights, Betty Randolph of Buffalo, N.Y., Evelyn Bound of Rochester, Ind., Ruth Tolbert of Evanston, Ill., Pearl Lewis of Bloomington, Ill., Willa Thomas and Carol Ann Thomas, both of Decatur and Linda Thomas of Columbia; 37 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Church of God Holiness, conducted by Elder Willie Morton. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in Golden Hill Cemetery, Calhoun Falls.
Pallbearers are sons.
Flower bearers are granddaughters.
Visitation is from 7-9 Friday at Friendly Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of a son, Deacon David Thomas, 300 Simpkins St., Calhoun Falls.

Willie Lee Cohen
GREENWOOD — Willie Lee Cohen, of 112 McDowell St., husband of Hattie Mary Mathis Cohen, died Monday, April 8, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Ernest Willie and Minnie Williams Cohen. He was a member of Dunham Temple C.M.E. Church, an Army veteran of the Korean conflict and a retiree of Fluor Daniel Construction Co. Patterson Construction most recently employed him.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Vernon Cohen and David Elmore, both of Greenwood; Mrs. Johnny (Sandra) Simpson of Laurens and Brenda Cohen of Greenwood; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Parks Funeral Home.
