SALUDA — Rose Eva Lott Cuyler, 90, of 221 Birch Lane, died Monday, April 8, 2002 at Newberry County Hospital.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Lizzie Lott. She was a member of the Satterwhite Brown Order of the Eastern Star, the Ever-ready Club, the Women Home Aide Society and Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Lindsey of the home; a sister, Bessie Wallace of Saluda; 10 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Calvin Robinson. Burial is in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Pallbearers are grandsons, and flower bearers are great-granddaughters.
The family is at the home.

Lena Davis
GREENWOOD — Lena Cogburn Davis, 84, of 925 Woodlawn Road, wife of Eugene Page Davis, died Monday, April 8, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Edgefield County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Earl and Carrie Bryan Cogburn. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and a former employee of The Vogue. She was a member of Tranquil United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; three daughters, Bobbie D. Traynham, N. June Trotman and Ann D. Tharpe, all of Greenwood; a son, James “Bubba” Davis of Greenwood; a brother, James H. Cogburn of Greenwood; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services are 4 p.m. Thursday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. James F. Patterson. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are William Traynham, Stephen Trotman, Michael Trotman, Tripp Tharpe, Bill Shaffer, Billy McCombs, Sonny Lee, Gerald Mayfield, Tommy James and James Hughes.
The family is at the home.
Visitation is from 3-4 Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Tranquil United Methodist Church, 1702 McCormick Highway, Greenwood, S.C. 29646.

Linda Gail Lomax
ABBEVILLE — Linda Gail Lomax, 48, of 21 Burnett Drive, wife of James Lomax, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Tommy and Janie McDuffie Calhoun. She was a member of Long Cane A.M.E. Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband of Augusta; two sons, Dietrich Calhoun of Fort Worth, Texas , and James Calhoun of Abbeville; three daughters, DeCarla Lomax and Jameca Lomax, both of Abbeville and Gaytrell Calhoun of Chicago; seven brothers, Willie Calhoun, Ernest Calhoun, Tommie Calhoun, Roy Calhoun and George Calhoun, all of Abbeville, James Calhoun of Chicago and Charles Calhoun of Duluth, Ga.; a sister, Louise Willis of Abbeville; and 10 grandchildren.
The family is at the home of a daughter, DeCarla Lomax, 154 Brookside Drive, and at the home of a sister, Louise Willis, 43 Calhoun Road.
Services will be announced by Brown and Walker Funeral Home.

Riley Minor
ABBEVILLE — Riley Edward Minor, 74, of 122 Hammond St., husband of Margaret Christine Finley Minor, died Monday, April 8, 2002, at the Augusta VA Medical Center.
The family will be at the home of a daughter, Jean Sorrow, 306 Whip O’ Will Road on Thursday.
Visitation is from 1-2:30 Friday at Harris Funeral Home.
Services will be announced by Harris Funeral Home.

Harold Thompson
ABBEVILLE - James Harold Thompson, 72, of 136 Highway 28N, husband of Martha Nickles Thompson, died Monday, April 8, 2002 at Self Regional Health Center in Greenwood.
Born in Athens, Georgia January 5, 1930, he was a son of the late Emory and Eva Mize Thompson. He was a member of Abbeville First Baptist Church and was a retired Engineer with Seaboard Coastline Railroad. He was a member of the Baracca Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, member of Clinton Lodge #3 and was a Shriner of the Hejaz Temple. He was a Korean Veteran having served in the U.S. Navy.
Surviving are his wife of the home, one son; Mike Thompson of Abbeville, one grandson; Chris Thompson and one granddaughter; Jennifer Thompson.
Funeral services will be 3 P.M. Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at Harris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Reiny Koschel officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Abbeville First Baptist Church Building Fund, N. Main Street, Abbeville, SC 29620 or to the American Cancer Society, c/o Conway Shirley, PO Box 566, Due West, SC 29639.
The body is at Harris Funeral Home where the family received friends from 7-9 P.M. Tuesday. The family is at the home.
Harris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sarah Price Banks
GREENVILLE — Sarah Aulene Price Banks, 88, widow of William Nelson Banks, of 102 Swindon Circle, formerly of 1215 S. Johnson St., Gaffney, died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at her home.
Born in McCormick County, she was a daughter of the late Eldred McGowan Price and Mary Elizabeth Rosenswike Price. She retired as a nurse from Upstate Carolina Medical Center and was a member of First Baptist Church of Gaffney.
Survivors include two sisters, Gladys Townsend of Greenwood and Louise Holiday of Falls Church, Va.
Services were Thursday at Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. Bobby Morrow. Burial was in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Pollock, Kenneth Townsend, Gene Pinson, Irby Shealy and Sam Price.
The family is at the home in Greenville.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home, Gaffney, was in charge.

James Ellenburg
LIBERTY — James Lafayette “Jim” Ellenburg, 73, of 107 Palmer Drive, formerly of Greenwood, died Friday, April 12, 2002, at Easley Nursing Center.
Born in Abbeville, he was a son of the late Ozzie L. and Mattie Williams Ellenburg. He retired from Daniel Construction Co. and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two daughters, Shawna Ellenburg of Hopkinsville, Ky., and Mrs. Mike (Melissa) Fuller of Liberty; a sister, Martha Ellenburg Roach of Greenwood; and three grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Liberty Mortuary, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Easley.
Visitation is from 4-6 Sunday at the mortuary.
The family is at the home.
Liberty Mortuary is in charge.

Dorothy Middleton
McCORMICK — Services for Dorothy Middleton are 2 p.m. Monday at Shiloh A.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. Carey Grady. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are friends of the family.
Church ushers are flower bearers.
The family is at the home of a sister, Claudia Jones in Westowne Apartments.
Walker Funeral Home is in charge.

Walter T. Morgan
McCORMICK — Walter T. Morgan, 86, widower of Cornelia Talbert Morgan, died Friday, April 12, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood..
Born in McCormick, he was a son of the late Clayton and Gussie Morgan. Most recently, he lived at the Edgefield County Health Care Center. He was a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Plum Branch and a retired highway construction worker..
Survivors include a daughter, Otelia Jackson of Greenwood; three sons, George Morgan of Albemarle, N.C., Robert Lee Morgan of Melbourne, Fla., and Walter Morgan Jr. of McCormick; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren..
The family is at the home of a granddaughter, Linda Blair, Old Augusta Highway, Plum Branch.
Services will be announced by Walker Funeral Home.

Lisa Amanda Pitts
LAURENS — Lisa Amanda Pitts, 30, of 6575 Hwy. 252, died Friday, April 12, 2002. She was a native of Laurens County, a daughter of Glenna Abrams Pitts Hammond of Laurens and the late William Maxwell Pitts. She was a graduate of Laurens District 55 High School and attended Lander College. Miss Pitts was General Manager of Hardees in Ninety Six and was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church.
Survivors besides her mother are: two brothers, William Marcus and his wife Jean Tunstall Pitts, Hickory Tavern and Richard Alan Pitts and his wife Sonna Pulley Pitts, Laurens. Nephew: Niles Maxwell Pitts. Nieces: Abby Jean Pitts, Anna Katherine Pitts and Claudia Bett Pitts. Also, step-father, Roy Hammond of the home, step-brother, Wayne Hammond and step-sister, Norma Jean Burkett. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Twyman Carroll Pitts.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 AM at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Crouch and Rev. John Abrams officiating. Burial will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family is at the home of her mother, 6875 Hwy. 252, Laurens and will receive friends at Parker-White Funeral Home Sunday, 6-8 PM. Memorials may be made to Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church, 499 Chestnut Ridge Rd., Laurens, S.C.

Alma Trent
ABBEVILLE — Alma Uldrick Trent, 93, widow of Emory W. Trent, died Friday, April 12, 2002, at the Maples in Honea Path.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Robert S. and Henrietta “Nettie” Ellis Uldrick. She was a member of Bethlehem A.R.P. Church and a retired employee of Abbeville Manufacturing.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services are 4 p.m. today at Harris Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Tommy Cartledge. Burial is in Bethlehem A.R.P. Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 3-4 at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Crawford, 309 Magazine St.
Memorials may be made to Bethlehem A.R.P. Church Cemetery Fund, c/o The Session of the Church, 3486 Highway 20, Due West, 29639 or to a charity of one’s choice.

Luther S. Abrams
WARE SHOALS — Luther Simpson Abrams, 81 of 5945 Poplar Springs Road, widower of Ethel Henderson Abrams died April 13, 2002 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
He was a native of Laurens County, a son of the late Willie Eugene and Agnes Simpson Abrams. He served in the US Army Air Force during WWII and was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Blind Veterans Assn. and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving are: one brother, Phil Abrams of Charlotte, NC and a sister Wilma Dockham of Easley, SC. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Eugene and Edward Abrams and two sisters, Elizabeth Balentine and Juanita McKinney.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 AM at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Horton and Rev. Don McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary escort will be the Men’s Sunday School Class.
The family will be at the home and will receive friends at Parker-White Funeral Home, Monday, 7-9 PM.
Memorials may be made to Poplar Springs Baptist Church, P.O. Box 124 Ware Shoals, SC.

Walter Morgan
McCORMICK — Services for Walter Morgan will be at 4 Monday at the Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Plum Branch, conducted by the Rev. W.H. McCain and the Rev. Otis Cunningham. Burial is in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 3.
Pallbearers are friends of the family.
Flower bearers are great nieces.
The family is at the home of his granddaughter, Linda Blair, in Plum Branch.

Edna C. Patton
GREENWOOD — Edna Crowe Patton, 85, formerly of 204 Lanham St., widow of Thurmond Jerry Patton, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at Magnolia Manor.
Born in Madison County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Charlie F. and Sallie Ophia Elie Crowe. She was retired from Greenwood Mills Plant No. 5 and was a member of Emerald Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Laura Conwell of Danielsville, Ga.; a brother, the Rev. William Crowe of Gainesville, Ga.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Monday at Harley Funeral Home. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Steven W. Walters, Glyn Crowe, James Conwell, Danny Patton, Paul Poss and Dennis Conwell.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of her grandson, Mickey West, 204 Lanham St.
Harley Funeral Home is in charge.
