APEX, N.C. — Sherileen Adams, 31, wife of Robert Adams, died Friday, April 12, 2002.
She was a daughter of L. James Paulus and Sharon Paulus of Abbeville. She was a wife and mother and member of the Salem Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home and her father and mother of Abbeville; a daughter, Isabel Adams of the home; a son, Sammuel Adams of the home; sisters, Anglieen and Jodileen, both of Abbeville; grandparents, Carl Russell and Eileen Russell of Oak Harbor, Ohio and maternal grandmother, Ruth Millard of St. Pittsburg, Fla.
Services are at 11 Tuesday at Salem Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Jeff Beckett. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the Apex Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to the Salem Baptist Church Music Ministry.

Lenora Drennan
ABBEVILLE — Lenora Beauford Drennan, 87, of Magnolia Manor, formerly of 106 Morningside Drive, widow of Arthur B. Drennan, died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at Magnolia Manor.
Born in Troy, she was a daughter of the late Lemuel O. and Mattie Horne Beauford. She was a retired textile employee with Abbeville Mills and was a member of Main St. United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Sara D. White of Columbia and Jackie D. Holbert of Abbeville; a sister, Elizabeth Bessinger of Abbeville; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are at 11 Tuesday in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Leon Thompson.
Visitation is after the service.
Memorials may be made to Main St. United Methodist Church, 300 North Main St., Abbeville, S.C. 29620. Ramey Funeral Home is in charge.

Otis Gardner
McCORMICK — Otis Gardner, of Freeman Drive, Highway 221, husband of Annie Pearl Gilchrist Gardner, died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at his home, after a sudden illness.
Born in McCormick, he was a son of the late Lewis and Eva Smith Gardner. He was a member of Shiloh A.M.E. Church, an Army veteran and a Highway Construction worker.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Walter Henry Gardner of Plum Branch; two daughters, Evangeline Burton of McCormick and Joyce Anita Rooker of the home; two sisters, Jessie Bell Gardner of Brunswick, Ga. and Bertha Gardner of East Orange, N.J.; a brother, Luther Gardner of Augusta, Ga.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Walker Funeral Home, which is in charge.

Willie Harvey
NINETY SIX — Willie Larry Harvey Jr., 72, former resident of Edgewood Circle, died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at National Health Care in Laurens.
Born in Barnwell County, he was a son of the late Willie L. and Mamie Ray Harvey. He was a retired construction worker. He attended the Ninety Six Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include four sisters, Verna Mae H. Price and Margaret H. Carroll, both of Greenwood, Myrtle H. Boyd of Ninety Six and Orena H. Peeples of Charleston and a brother, Herman Harvey of Bamberg.
Services are at 2 Tuesday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Wallace Purvis and the Rev. J. Carlisle Grimsley. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are nephews.
Honorary escorts are George Massey, Dennis Scott, Lamar Davenport, Gregg McCuen, Bunyon Braxton Jr., William Eugene Braxton, Gene Boyd, Malcolm Price, Mac Braxton and Gerald Price.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Blyth Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of Verna Mae Price, 2608 E. Cambridge St. Ext.

NINETY SIX — Lewis Eugene Jester Jr., 75, of 2811 Highway 34, died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at his home. The family is at the home of Faye Barrett, 2811 Highway 34 Lot No. 8.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home, Greenwood, which is in charge.

Grace A. Martin
GREENVILLE — Grace Altine Martin, 90, of 105 Seminole Drive, died April 14, 2002.
Born in Charleston, SC, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mamie Staples Altine and the widow of Gus Constantine Martin. She was the former owner of the Roseland Restaurant in Greenwood for 25 years and was a member of St. George Greek Cathedral in Greenville, SC. She was a long time member of many different organizations and was actively involved for over 30 years with the BAC charitable organization. She received the Life Time Achievement Award in the Greenwood Business and Professional Womans Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Renie Martin Fridy of Greenville; a sister, Mary Alice Seigler of Sanford, FL; a brother, George Altine of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Thomas Martin Fridy, William Wallace Fridy III, Phyllis McGee and Lisa McKellar; three great grandchildren, Graham McGee, Kelsey McGee and Camilla Fridy.
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at The Mackey Mortuary, 311 Century Drive. Father Tom Pistolis will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 15 DeCamp Street, Greenville, SC 29601.

Kathleen Sears
COMMERCE, Ga. — Kathleen Shirley Sears, 45, of 450 Miller-McElreath Road, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at Athens Regional Hospital.
Born in Gainesville, Ga., she was a daughter of Mattie Wideman Sears and the late Dwayne H. Sears.
Survivors include her mother of Commerce; three brothers, Jerry (Karen) Sears of Carnesville, Ga., Larry (Ava) Sears of Cleveland, Ga. and Phillip Sears of Commerce and four sisters, Mrs. Jerry (Eva) Peek of Commerce, Mrs. Tommy (Tammie) Pinnell of Commerce, Mrs. Brent (Carolyn) Jennings of Greenwood and Tina Sears of Commerce.
Services are at 2 Tuesday at Ivie Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. David Carithers. Burial is in Grove Level Baptist Church in Maysville, Ga.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Ivie Funeral Home.

William H. White Jr.
ABBEVILLE — William Henry White Jr., 82, husband of Annelle Plaxico White, died Saturday, April 14, 2002, at National Health Care in Columbia.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late William Henry Sr. and Edna Holman White. He was a former Minister and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Arsenal Hill ARP Church of Columbia and a former member of Abbeville Presbyterian Church. He was an Army veteran, having served in Okanawa.
Survivors include his wife of the Due West Retirement Center; two daughters, Elizabeth Blanding White Fort of Greenville and Anne White Ross of Blacksburg; a son, William Henry White III of Alexandria, Va.; a brother, James Blanding White of Abbeville and four grandchildren.
Services are at 3 today at Abbeville Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. John Timmerman. Burial is in Long Cane Cemetery.
Visitation is from 1:30-2:30 today at Harris Funeral Home.
The family is at their respective homes.

Thomas C. Fox
WARE SHOALS — Thomas C. Fox, 75, husband of Phyllis Snell Fox, of 19 Lakewood Drive, Denville, N.J., died Friday, April 12, 2002, at St. Claire’s Hospital in New Jersey.
Born in New York City, he was a son of the late Joseph and Marie Metcalf Fox. He was a retired division manager for New Jersey Bell, an Air Force veteran and a graduate of Edison State College. A member of Persippany Presbyterian Church, he attended Mount Bethel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Kenneth Fox of Denville; two daughters, Peggy Koster of Ware Shoals and Karen Wishneski of Palm Coast, Fla.; a sister, Madelyn Kanheiser; and five granddaughters.
Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Bethel United Methodist Church, conducted by the Revs. Bill Harris and Carol Peppers-Wray. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Roger, Richard and Joe Wood, Tim Doyle, Glen Fine and Ben Schomp.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Parker-White Funeral Home.
The family is at 742 Mount Bethel Road, Ware Shoals.

Wally Hall
GREENWOOD — Walter Owen “Wally” Hall, 65, of 216 Sagewood Road, husband of Jacqueline Hamilton Hall, died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at the Hospice House of the Upstate in Anderson.
Born in Kyser, W.Va., he was a son of Christine Peak Hall and the late Walter Hall. He graduated from the University of Michigan and retired from Fuji Film. A mentor for the HOST Program in Ninety Six, he was a member of Greenwood Community Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother of Northport, Mich.; five sons, Brian Hall of Greenville, N.C., Kevin Hall of Simpsonville, Mark O’Brien of Greenville, John O’Brien of Piedmont and Michael O’Brien of Irmo; two daughters, Sheryl Hensley of Easley and Linda Motte of Travelers Rest; a sister, Peggy Bufe of Northport; 14 grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Community Church of the Nazarene, conducted by the Revs. Robert Albert and George Gardner. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville.
Pallbearers are Gene Powell, Ronnie Hunter, Bill Kaib, Kenny Spruill, Dr. Charlie Gray, Darby Bell, Rodney McCleese and John Rogers.
Memorial services are 7 p.m. Friday at the First Church of the Nazarene, Haywood Road, Greenville.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Blyth Funeral Home.

Lewis ‘Pop Jester’ Jester
NINETY SIX — Lewis Eugene “Pop Jester” Jester Jr., 75, of 2811 Highway 34, Lot 3, widower of Nettie Grace Leopard Jester, died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at his home.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Lewis Jester Sr. and Fannie Jester. He was a former employee of Daniel Construction and an Army veteran of World War II and the S.C. National Guard. He was of the Church of God faith.
Survivors include two sons, Tommy Jester of Germany and Summer Jester of Warner Robins, Ga.; a daughter, Joan Marshall of Warner Robins; a stepson, John T. Holliday of Travelers Rest; two sisters, Ruth Vermillion of Donalds and Frances Thompson of Greenwood; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 3 p.m. today in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Donald Rowell.
Honorary escorts are Darrell Adams, Scott Holliday, Lee Carnes, Doyle Anderson, Jake Lecroy and Gerald Price.
Visitation is at the cemetery after the services.
The family is at the home of Faye Barrett, 2811 Highway 34, Lot 8.

Euphemia W. Leitzsey
CLEMSON — Euphemia Winn Leitzsey, 88, of 15 Birch Place, Clemson Downs, died Sunday, April 14, 2002, at her home.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late John R. and Nina Ellis Winn. She graduated from Dixie High School and Winthrop College and retired from Greenwood public schools with 30 years of service. She was a teacher and principal at Bold Springs Elementary, a teacher at Harris Elementary (now known as Lakeview), an employee of Farmers Home Administration, Lancaster, and a nursery school teacher in Oakridge, Tenn. A member of Clemson United Methodist Church and a former member of Rehoboth United Methodist Church, Greenwood, she was a member of the American Association of University Women Home Economists in Homemaking-Clemson Chapter, Kappa Kappa Iota and the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was twice married, first to the late Eugene S. Ethridge and second to the late Barney B. Leitzsey.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Bob (Jean Ethridge) Gantt of Concord, N.C.; a grandson; and long-time caregiver, Mary A. Cannon.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Due West A.R.P. Church, conducted by the Rev. Calvin Draffin. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at The McDougald Funeral Home, Anderson.
The family is at the home.

Leroy Tolen
SALUDA — Leroy Tolen, 37, of 116 Village Road, husband of Linda Tolen, died Sunday, April 14, 2002.
Born in Newberry County, he was a son of Mamie Lee Clark Tolen and the late Ernest Lester Tolen. He was a member of Wateree A.M.E. Church.
Survivors include his wife of Batesburg; his mother of Saluda; a son, Michael O. Long of Columbia; a daughter, Monisha L. Gunter of Aiken; a brother, Terry Tolen of Greenwood; two sisters, Phyllis Tolen of Saluda and Sherrie Tolen of Detroit; five stepchildren; and a maternal grandmother, Sue Anna Shealy of Saluda.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wateree A.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. Lare’ Weeks, pastor. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are nephews and friends.
Flower bearers are family and friends.
The family is at the home of his mother, 116 Village Road.

DUE WEST — Kate Shaw Wilson, 82, of Due West Retirement Center, widow of George Thomas Wilson, died Monday, April 15, 2002, at Carlisle Nursing Center.
Born in Mecklenburg County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late David and Marichen Shaw. She was a homemaker and a member of Greenville Presbyterian Church of Donalds and a former member of Plaza Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, N.C.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. George Wilson of Abbeville and Dr. David Wilson of Atlanta; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Plaza Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, conducted by Dr. Tom Tate and Dr. Pinky Bender. Burial is in Sharon Memorial Park, Charlotte.
Memorial services are 2 today at the Due West Retirement Center.
Visitation is from 7-8:30 tonight at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville, and from 1-2 Wednesday at Plaza Presbyterian Church.
The family is at the home of a son, Dr. George Wilson, 190 Old Douglas Mill Road, Abbeville.
