CHERAW — Johnnie L. Craft, 62, died Wednesday, November 10, 2004. Born in Cheraw, SC, he was the son of Rosa Mae Matheson Craft and the late Robert Lee Craft. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Mr. Craft was a member of First Baptist Church, Cheraw, SC, where he served in various positions over the years, Financial Secretary, Chairman of the Deacons, Sunday School Teacher, Pulpit Committee Member, Chairman of the Budget Committee, Building Committee Member, Scholarship Committee, and Nursing Home ministry. He was past Sec-Tres of the South Carolina Bankers Assoc., past tres. of the Cheraw Rotary Club. and Sec. of Great Pee Dee Bank Corp. (Sentry) Cheraw, SC. He worked in accounting, banking and finance for forty years. Mr. Craft was an avid sports fan and was a supporter of the USC Gamecocks. His greatest joy was spending time with family.

Surviving are: Wanda Louisa Davis Craft (wife) of Cheraw, SC, Jill D. Rivers (Matt) (daughter and son-in-law) of Cheraw, SC, Sheri Craft (daughter) of Charleston, SC, Susan Craft (daughter) of Columbia, SC, Jessica Rivers and Noah Rivers (grandchildren) of Cheraw, SC, Rosa Mae Matheson Craft (mother) of Cheraw, SC, Mary Baker (sister) of Columbia, SC, Judy Martin (sister) of Florence, SC, Elizabeth Smith (sister) of Cheraw, SC.

The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2004 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 13, 2004, at First Baptist Church, Cheraw, SC. Burial will be in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.

Francis Marion Tillman
Francis Marion Tillman died Wednesday, March 10, 2004 in Cheraw, SC. Born June 13, 1917, in Cheraw, he was the son of the late Daniel Lee and Lena Amos Tillman. He graduated from Cheraw High School and received a BA degree in Literature and Journalism from Oglethorpe University. He worked for F. Schumacher & Company in New York City for two and one-half years. Served in the anti-aircraft artillery in the Canal Zone and 80th Infantry Division, Third Army in Europe during World War II. He was a retired co-owner and partner of Dan L. Tillman & Sons, Insurance and Real Estate. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon, Treasurer, Elder, Clerk of the Session, and a member of the choir.
He assisted in the formation of Cheraw, Inc., Matheson Memorial Library, Lyceum Museum, Chesterfield County Historical Society, Old Saint David’s Cemetery Association, Historic Cheraw, Inc. He served as Treasurer of The Cheraw Country Club, as Secretary of the Board of Public Buildings on the Town Green, on the Tree Commission of the Town of Cheraw. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club, American Legion and active in the Cheraw Camellia Society.
Surviving are his sister, Mrs. Virginia T. Watts, Goldsboro, NC, a brother Daniel Lee Tillman, Jr., of Cheraw, SC, four nephews, three great nieces, and four great nephews and best friend, James F. Magee, Sumter, SC.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 14, 2004 at First Presbyterian Church, Cheraw, SC

Mary A. English, 74, died Friday, February 11, 2005. Born in Bennettsville, SC she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Fannie Caroline Lyons Allen. She was the widow Robert English. She was a member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. She was retired from the Cheraw Primary School where she worked in food service.
She is survived by a son, Calvin Melton, two daughters, Linda M. Smith and Faye Wallace all of Cheraw, SC, a brother, Vernon Allen of Greensboro, NC, a sister, Margaret Pegues of Cheraw, SC, 8 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Sunday, February 13, 2005 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Kiser Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Lonnie Legette Parker, Sr., 82, died Tuesday, November 30, 2004. Born in Chesterfield, SC he was a son of the late James Claude and Sarah Frances Pegues Parker. He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Wallace, SC. He was retired from Atlantic Coast Life Insurance with 20 + years of service. Mr. Parker loved people, he liked to garden and was an avid bible reader. He was a (NASCAR) Dirt Track Car Driver 1955-1963, and loved cars.

Otto Heinz Hage
Otto Heinz Hage, age 60, of Cheraw, SC, passed away Monday, November 10, 2008 at Chesterfield General Hospital in Cheraw.
Otto was born September 19, 1948 in Heiligendorf, Germany to the late Otto Willi Hage and Ludwina Hage both of Heiligendorf, Germany. Otto was the oldest of six siblings. Otto was married January 10, 1976 to Mary Jim Winburn of Cheraw, SC. He was educated in Germany and was a member of the Bundesmarine (German Federal Navy). Otto was an extremely hard worker and dedicated employee during his life. He worked for Volkswagen in Wolfsburg, Germany and Siemens of Germany in Berlin, Germany. Otto was a recent retiree of INA USA in June. Otto began his 35 year career with INA Bearing Company in Germany as a Tool and Die Maker. He transferred to INA USA in April of 1974 and started working in the Tool Room of Plant I in Cheraw, SC. During his years with the company, Otto served as Lead person for the Cage Tool Prep and Samples, Foreman of Welded Cage, Thrust Cage Technician, Tool Engineer, and, at the time of his retirement in June, was Senior Engineering Technician in the Chain Department at Plant II in Cheraw.
Along with his work, Otto was involved in many different activities and hobbies during his life. In Germany, he was a founding member of his town’s first Volunteer Fire Department of which he was extremely proud. Otto was the President of The Cheraw Band Booster Club and followed the band and football teams of Cheraw for over 10 years. Otto was extremely active with the Cheraw Parks and Recreation Department as a soccer coach and mentor to countless youth in Cheraw. Otto enjoyed fishing at the beach, working in his yard and around the house, and manning his “fun jump” bounce house at birthday parties and festivals. Otto’s favorite activity and greatest joy was spending time with his family and creating DVD’s chronicling their time together.
Otto is survived by his Wife, Mary Jim Hage of Cheraw; Sons and Daughters in law, Otto and Deana Hage of Lexington, and Chris and Janice Hage of Fort Mill; Daughter Caroline Hage of Cheraw; Grandchildren, Madeline, Preston, and Lukas Hage; Brothers and spouses, Karl-Heinz and Baerbel Hage of Heiligendorf, Germany and Gerhard Hage of Wolfsburg, Germany; Sisters, Renate and Juergen Kroesche of Heiligendorf, Germany, Angelika and Andreas Schliebener of Hehlingen, Germany, and Ursula and Teo Aschenbrenner of Neindorf, Germany; Seven Nephews, Stephan Kroesche, Tim Schliebener, Daniel Aschenbrenner, Dennis Hage of Germany, Jay Pruitt of Cheraw, Herbert Watts of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania , and Clark Pruitt of Wichita Falls, Texas ; Six Nieces, Bianca Schliebener, Yvonne Muhe, Martina Schliebener, Annika Hage, Lara-Marie Aschenbrenner of Germany, and Lexi Hitchcock of Loris, SC; Mother in law, Dorothy Winburn of Cheraw; Brothers and Sisters in law, Herbert and Veronica Watts of Cheraw, and Buddy and Ann Smith of North Myrtle Beach. Otto was predeceased by his Parents, Otto Willi and Ludwina Hage of Heiligendorf, Germany and Father in law James N. Winburn of Cheraw, SC. .
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November, 17, 2008 at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Cheraw, SC. Officiating will be The Reverend William D. Oldland. Burial will follow at the Old St. David’s Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family from 3:00 - 5:00 Sunday, November 16, 2008 at Kiser Funeral Home of Cheraw. Memorials can be made to St. David’s Episcopal Church, 420 Market Street, Cheraw, SC, 29520.
Otto was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend. He will truly be missed.

Dr. James E. Leppard, Jr.
Dr. James E. Leppard, Jr., 86, died peacefully November 08, 2008. He was a son of James E. Sr. and Ann Owens Leppard of Chesterfield. Devoted to his family and friends, he was also distinguished for his many contributions to his community and state.
Dr. Leppard practiced dentistry for 58 years. A graduate of USC and Emory University, He was a retired Colonel in the USAR, former state senator and magistrate, Dr. Leppard was a mason, member of First Baptist Church, Kiwania Club, American Legion, and American Dental Association.
Surviving are his wife, Frances Matheson Leppard, three sons, James E. III (Pat), Benjamin T. (Debbie), Dr. John A. (Sandra). Five grandchildren, Chad, Ben Jr., John Jr., Steven and Alexis. Also surviving is a sister, Anne Owens Leppard of Walterboro, SC.
He was preceded in death by his parents listed above, brother, Edward M. Leppard of Chesterfield.
An entombment service with military honors will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, November 10, 2008 at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens, Cheraw, SC.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Bennettsville. She was retired from Dan River Inc. and enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her husband, Ernest Irvin Linton, Sr., a son, Robert Eugene Linton of Society Hill, SC, grandchildren, Ernest “Trae” (Lisa) Irvin Linton, III, Jennifer (Jason) Carroway, Amy Nicole Linton, great grandchildren, Amber Carroway, Carol Shea Linton, Brice Carroway, Hannah Linton, Connor Carroway, her mother listed above, a brother, Evans Lee Pruitt, Jr. of Greenville, NC, sisters, Doris Anne Freeman of Bennettsville, SC, Myrna Edwards of Chesapeake, VA, a special uncle, Howard Day of Bennettsville, SC, many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased in death by her father listed above, a son Ernest Irvin “Bud” Linton, Jr., brothers, James Howard Pruitt, Arthur Douglas Pruitt, Tommy Eugene Pruitt and a sister, Mignon Louise Pate.

Claire Louise Ennis “Doll” Price, 83, died Tuesday, November 4, 2008. Born in Charlotte, NC she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Claire Louise Lutterloh Ennis. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church, Cheraw, SC and formally a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church, Charlotte, NC. She loved her church family. She enjoyed drawing pictures for children and was known as the “Candy Lady”, sharing candy everywhere she went. She enjoyed going to Hardee’s and McDonalds and playing bingo. Mrs. Price was an avid Atlanta Braves Fan.
