ABBEVILLE — Douglas Gray, of 24 Gray Lane, husband of Eddie Ruth Martin Gray, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Elliott and Mosses L. Cobb Gray. He was reared by his grandparents, Carthum and Sara Johnson Cobb. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Shirley) Watson of Atlanta, Mrs. Robert (Margie) Russell of Baton Rouge, La., Mrs. Ruben (Katherine) Jackson and Mrs. Antonio (Patricia) Crawford, both of Abbeville; six sisters, Sallie Willingham of Anderson, Mary Mosley of Virginia, Jennell Wilson, Georgelle Boyd and Geraldine Brazzle, all of Detroit and Clarkie Stiles of New York; a brother, Elliott Gray Jr. of Detroit; five grandchildren, two reared in the home, Rico Gray and Ralph Watson.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Fairfield Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Michael Peppers, assisted by the Revs. Bessie Bowie, Bennie Cobb and Johnnie Waller. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are friends of the family.
Viewing is after the eulogy.
Visitation is at the home.
Richie Funeral Home is in charge.

Gracie Lee Reed
GREENWOOD — Services for Gracie Lee Reed, of 305 Paradise Court, are 2 p.m. Saturday at Marshall Chapel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Carl Wells. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Robert Wilson, Terry Thompson, Robin Anderson, Harvey Griffin, James Day and Andre Day.
Flower bearers are Krystal Brown, Gracie Brown, Tywanna Brown, Monique Cheatham, Barbara Felder, Cathy Pope, Elizabeth Brown and Teneille Brown.
Additional survivors include two brothers, John Corley of Greenville and Robert Corley of Charlotte, N.C. The family is at the home.
Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home is in charge.

Bobby ‘Ray’ Smith
PARKSVILLE — Bobby “Ray” Smith, 64, husband of Linda Parks Smith, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at University Hospital in Augusta.
Born in Honea Path, he was a son of Lois Brock Tinsley and the late Johnny Mason Smith and a stepson of Bob Tinsley. He was a mechanical superintendent with Gold Mech Inc., serving for 25 years. A Past Master of Masonic Lodge 199, Parksville, he was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife of Parksville; his mother and stepfather of Honea Path; two sons, David Smith and Bill Smith, both of Parksville; a brother, Haynie Smith of Honea Path; a sister, Peggy S. Alewine of Level Land; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services with Masonic rites are 3 p.m. Saturday in Parksville Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Michael Wren.
Pallbearers are Seisel Wall IV, Ronnie Faircloth, Murray Prince, Richard Hutchins, Murl Snellgrove and Tom Dozier.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Parksville Baptist Church fellowship hall.
The family is at the home.

Dorothy R. Cox
WEST COLUMBIA - Services for Dorothy Ragsdale Cox, 70, of West Columbia, will be held at 2PM Friday in the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, conducted by Rev. Jamie Williams, with burial at Woodridge Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Justin Cox, Butch Anderson, Adam Skenes, Kenney Skenes and Phillip Jackson. Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 2pm Friday at the funeral home prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Lexington County Council on Aging.
Mrs. Cox, widow of James R. Cox, died Wednesday, June 05, 2002. Born in Honea Path, SC, she had been a local resident since 1992. She was a member of Pineview Baptist Church and was retired from J.C. Penny's.
Surviving are her daughter, Janet Skenes of Lexington; son, Steve Cox of West Columbia; sister, Jean Jackson of Sumter; grandchildren, Angela Taylor Strickland, Justin Cox, Adam Skenes; and great grand-daughter, Kaitlyn N. Strickland.

Desmond Warren
GREENWOOD — Desmond Keyon Warren, infant son of Kenyana Yackee Woods and Timothy J. Warren, died Thursday, June 6, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Greenwood.
Survivors include his parents; a brother, Erophaus Calhoun of the home; two sisters, Tymesha Lukie of the home and Tyria Warren of Greenwood; maternal grandparents, Gloria Woods of Greenwood and Harold Woods of Atlanta; maternal great-grandmother, Lillie Mae Greene of Greenwood; paternal grandmother, Sandi Warren of Greenwood.
The family is at 520 Hall St.
No services are planned.

Chantze Dutton
WARE SHOALS — Kenneth Chantze Dutton, 23, son of Kenneth Marvin Dutton and the late Tiki Keller Dutton, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002.
Born in Greenwood County, he was of the Pentecostal faith and was employed by Greenwood Glass Co.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Karen Dutton, of Clinton; a son, Chantze Dutton Jr. of Spartanburg; a sister, Dale Evonne Dutton of Greer; and maternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Maedale and James D. Ballou of Ware Shoals.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Sunday in Oakbrook Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Roderick Carver.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Parker-White Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of his grandmother, 17675 Highway 25 North.

Ruth Odom
GREENWOOD — Ruth Riddle Odom, 86, formerly of Wilson Street and Eden Gardens, widow of Dr. Houston B. Odom, died Friday, June 7, 2002 at National Healthcare of Greenwood.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mamie Miller Riddle. She was a graduate of Greenville High School and Draughn’s Business College and a secretary for Liberty Life Insurance Co. A member of Main Street United Methodist Church, she was also a volunteer at Greenwood Methodist Home, now Wesley Commons.
Survivors include a son, Charles H. Odom of Simpsonville; a daughter, Jenny Lin Edwards of Greenwood; a sister, Vivian Bradford of Simpsonville; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Graveside services are 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Larry Jenkins.
Visitation is from 2-3 Sunday at Blyth Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church Matching Fund, 211 N. Main St., Greenwood, S.C. 29646.

Kathleen Boazman
GREENWOOD — Kathleen McCrery Boazman, 87, of 1110 Marshall Road, widow of Willie K. “Bill” Boazman, died Monday, June 10, 2002 at Wesley Commons.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late James Harvey and Lillie Belle Hinton McCrery. She graduated from Greenwood High School and Peterson’s Business College and retired from Kirkman-Dixon Machinery Co. She was a member of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a sister, Beatrice M. Weeks of North Augusta.
Graveside services are 3 p.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Don Elliott.
Visitation is from 1:30-2:30 Wednesday at Blyth Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 1635 Cokesbury Road, Greenwood, S.C. 29649.

Lois Mae Getsinger
CALHOUN FALLS — Lois Mae Getsinger, 70, of 614 Cherokee St., widow of Neuffer Getsinger, died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
A native of Oconee County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Emmett and Maude Eubanks Willoughby. She was a retired spooler for Burlington Industries and attended Calhoun Falls Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include two sons, Randy Getsinger and David Getsinger, both of Calhoun Falls; a daughter, Patricia Bowman of Abbeville; a brother, Albert Willoughby of Georgia; two sisters, Lizzie May Powell of Modoc and Frances Davis of Pickens; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calhoun Falls Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Michael Ford. Burial is in Smyrna Cemetery, Lowndesville.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Alan J. Greene Sr.
LUGOFF — Alan Jeffrey Greene Sr., 47, husband of Peggy Owens Greene, died Sunday, June 9, 2002.
Born in Rutherford County, N.C., he was a son of Wilma Lavender Greene and the late Omah Eldin Greene. He was a graduate of Tri-County Technical College, Pendleton, and an electrical and instrumentation manager with International Paper. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother of Greenwood; a son, A. Jeffrey Greene Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister, Vicky Valade of Jacksonville, Fla.; three brothers, Jimmy Greene of Donalds, David Greene of Saluda and Stanley Greene of Greenwood.
Memorial services are 3 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Robert L. Shearer.
Visitation is from 1:30-3 Wednesday in the church chapel.

Roosevelt ‘Velt’ Harrison
McCORMICK — Roosevelt “Velt” Harrison, 71, of Route 2, Box 121-C, husband of Jessie W. Harrison, died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at the VA Hospital in Augusta.
Born in McCormick County, he was a son of the late Rally Harrison and the Rev. Nita Young Harrison. He was a retired construction worker with Norway Construction Co. in Washington , D.C., and a World War II Army veteran. A Mason, he was a member of Lower Mount Moriah Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, James Harrison of Greenwood and Johnny Blackwell of Upper Marlboro, Md.; two stepsons, Timothy Wilson of Jacksonville, N.C., and Willie Wilson of Lexington; five daughters, Mrs. Robert (Gloria) Jennings and Josie Wakefield, both of McCormick, Maggie Blackwell and Felicia Harrison, both of Washington , D.C., and Mrs. Jimmy (Jennette) Staten of Upper Marlboro; five stepdaughters, Faye Lewis, Susan Reddick and Tracy Cunningham, all of McCormick, Elaine Wilson of Virginia Beach, Va., and Thomasana Wilson of Hyattsville, Md.; a brother, James Young of McCormick; a sister, Willie Mae Wilson of Washington , D.C.; 32 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home, Highway 67, secondary road off of Highway 378.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., Greenwood.

Samuel D. Padgett Jr.
GREENWOOD — Samuel D. Padgett Jr., infant son of Yasheka Spencer and Samuel D. Padgett, died Monday, June 10, 2002, Self Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his parents; a sister, Janiyha K. Padgett of the home; paternal grandparents, George and Mary Wallace of Saluda; and maternal grandparents, James William Walton and Jacqueline Spencer, both of Greenwood.
Graveside services are 10:30 today in Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery, Saluda County.

Maglean H. Raiford
GREENWOOD — Maglean Hamilton “Pig” Raiford, 55, of 238 Wheatfield Drive, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Eddie and Janie Williams Hamilton. She attended Greenwood public schools and was a former seamstress with Nantex. She was a member of Flint Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Antoine Raiford of the home; three daughters, Marchelle R. Warren of Norfolk, Va., Deirdra R. Higgins of Greenwood and Latasha D. Raiford of the home; two brothers, Jonathan Hamilton of Greenwood and Barry L. Hamilton of West Hempstead, N.Y.; five sisters, Ora H. Hunter of Roosevelt, N.Y., Jannye H. Watson and Barbara H. Covington, both of Greenwood, Doris H. Tidwell of Spartanburg and Eddie Mae Kennedy of Stone Mountain, Ga.; and nine grandchildren, two of the home, Malizah Caldwell and Latonya Caldwell.
The family is at 111 N. Ames St. and at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc.

Mary S. Smith
SNELLVILLE, Ga. — Mary Stevenson Smith, 87, widow of Oscar E. Smith, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
Born in Abbeville County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Tom and Clara Bell Stevenson. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Snellville.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Smith of Snellville; a sister, Lila Bell Smith of Due West, S.C.; and three grandsons.
Services were 11 a.m. Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with burial in College Park Cemetery, College Park.

Helen Clark
ABBEVILLE — Helen McCurry Bond Clark, 91, of 83 Thomson Circle, widow of J.P. Clark, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at Abbeville Nursing Home.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Williams Augustas and Molly Dixon McCurry. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, William C. Bond of Abbeville; two daughters, Lila B. Lawton of Abbeville and Gladys Ann Smith of Conyers, Ga.
Services are 10 a.m. today at Harris Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Darin Hook. Burial is in Melrose Cemetery.
Visitation is from 9-10 today at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Lila B. Lawton, 706 Brook St.
Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 100 E. Greenwood St., Abbeville, S.C. 29620.
