Tom Pressley
GREENWOOD — John Thomas “Tom” Pressley, 90, of 714 Logan Court, husband of Pat Vaughn Pressley, died Sunday, June 23, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Samuel and Mary Kirby Pressley. He served in the Seabees during World War II and was a watchmaker and jeweler, being the first registered jeweler in South Carolina. Starting his business in Greenwood in 1936, he was president of Pressley Jewelers at the time of his death. A member and former Deacon of South Main Street Baptist Church, he was also a member of the Couples II Sunday School Class. He was a member of the American Watchmakers Institute, Greenwood Masonic Lodge No. 91 A.F.M. and American Legion Post No. 20.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Darin (Tami) Carr of Greensboro, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at South Main Street Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dave Patterson and the Rev. Ryan Eklund. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Paul Burdette, Dr. Kevin Rust, Brad Russ, Kenny Trinklein, Richard Vaughn, Maurice Pridmore, Jack Spencer and Robert Bargeron.
Honorary escorts are members of the Couples II Sunday School Class of the church, along with Jack Walton, Phil Brown, Steve and Lisa Lloyd, Dr. John Holman and Dr. Walter Bishop.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Blyth Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to South Main Street Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1093, Greenwood, SC 29648.

Alvine Pugh Rauch
SALUDA — Alvine Pugh Rauch, 87, of 106 Edward Ave., widow of John Rauch, died Friday, June 21, 2002, at her home.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Jerry and Carrie Hughes Pugh. She was a member of the Women Home Society, Mount Moses C.M.E. Church and the Missionary Society of the church.
Survivors include four sons, Bennie Rauch Jr., Leonard Rauch and James Rauch, all of Saluda and Curtis Rauch of Norfolk, Va.; four daughters, Vera Gary of Gilbert, Nethia Watkins, Mamie Young and Carrie Brooks, all of Bronx, N.Y.; 25 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Thursday at Mount Moses C.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. A.L. Scott. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are grandsons, and flower bearers are granddaughters. The family is at the home.

Harriett Sullivan
GREENWOOD — Services for Harriett Sullivan, of 119-A High St., are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson & Son Mortuary, conducted by the Rev. Roy Norman, assisted by Evangelist Debbie Chisolm. Burial is in Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 221.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are cousins.
Visitation begins at 7 p.m. tonight at the home, and at the home of Leroy Sullivan, 121 New Zion Road, Promised Land.

Alma W. Abercrombie
WARE SHOALS — Alma Wood Abercrombie, 87, formerly of Ware Shoals, widow of John Martin Abercrombie, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late James H. and Mollie Burton Wood. She was a member of Mount Gallagher Baptist Church and a teacher of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Mary E. Thomason of Greenville; a stepson, Earl Abercrombie of Simpsonville; nine step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren and several step-great-great-grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Thursday at Parker-White Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop. Burial is in Hillside Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Tony Pitts, Darell Pitts, Greg Abercrombie, Roger Chapman, Steve Chapman and Josh Lee.
Visitation is from 1:30-3 Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Diabetic Association.

Ray Burnette
GREENWOOD — Raymond Dewey “Ray” Burnette, 34, of 1004 Mount Moriah Road, died Monday, June 24, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Richard H. Burnette and the late Margaret Rhodes Burnette. He was an employee of North Pointe Exxon.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Shirley S. Paul, of Eastover; a son, Richard Dillon Burnette of Greenwood; a sister, Lynn B. Martin of Greenwood; and a brother, Jason Burnette of Eastover.
Graveside services are 4 p.m. Wednesday in Oakbrook Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Emily Allen.
Pallbearers are Eddie DuBois, Frankie DuBois, Trai Lindley, Stacy Rhodes, Tracy Rhodes and Ronald Rhodes.
Visitation is at the mausoleum after the services.
The family is at the home of Ronald Burnette, 152 Avondale Road.

R.P. McClellan
McCLELLANVILLE — Rufus Pegues (Chief) McClellan died at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home on June 24, 2002.
Born in McClellanville, SC, July 3, 1909, son of the late Dr. Edward A. and Lucy Pegues McClellan.
Preceded by wife, Miriam Kelly McClellan. Survived by one daughter, Elizabeth M. Fleming, and son-in-law, Mack G. Fleming, of Seneca, SC; two grandchildren, Katharine L. Dukes of Austin, Texas and John McClellan Fleming of Washington , DC; one great grandson, Caleb McClellan Dukes of Austin, Texas ; one brother, Archibald J. McClellan of Florence, SC; and one nephew, Robert E. McClellan of Greenville, SC.
Chief McClellan was a graduate of the F.B.F. National Academy, Washington , DC and spent forty-one years in law enforcement in South Carolina. He served with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, rising to the rank of Lieutenant, until 1959 when he became Chief of Police in Greenwood, SC; until 1962 when he became Chief of Security and Harbor Master of the S.C. Ports Authority in Charleston, SC until retirement in 1974.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served in World War II and was past President and life member of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Association; member of American Legion Post 184, Campbell Nursing Home, Anderson, SC; and member of Hibben United Methodist Church, Mount Pleasant, SC.
The funeral service for Chief Rufus McClellan will be Thursday, June 27, 2002 at the Graveside, Wappetaw Presbyterian Church Cemetery at 2:00 o’clock. Friends may visit with the family at the graveside from 1:00 until time of service.
Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home, 4605 Belton Highway, Anderson, SC 29621.

Nina Bowen
WARE SHOALS — Nina Smith Bowen, 86, of 59 S. Greenwood Ave., widow of Wendell W. Bowen, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Born in Ware Shoals, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Ozlla Williams Smith. She was a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church and a retired employee of Riegel Textile Corp.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Herman (Betty) McKee of Ware Shoals.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Friday in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Leon Jones.
Memorials may be made to Ware Shoals First Baptist Church.

Geneva C. Gambrell
WARE SHOALS — Sarah Geneva Cole Gambrell, 80, of 15 Greenwood Ave., widow of Harold E. “Bill” Gambrell, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late L.C. and Ollie Cannon Cole. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a retired employee of Riegel Textile Corp., where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
Survivors include five sons, Laylon Gambrell of Ladson, Douglas Gambrell of Honea Path, Harold Gambrell Jr. of Kempville, Tenn., Mike Gambrell of Laurens and Bill Gambrell of Ware Shoals; two daughters, Nancy G. Madden of Ware Shoals and Donna G. Phillips of Piedmont; 31 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Robert Emory and the Rev. Otis Davenport. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Grandsons are pallbearers, and honorary pallbearers are grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Parker-White Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of a son, Bill Gambrell, 15 Greenwood Ave., and of a daughter, Nancy Madden, 38 Landmark Road.

Rev. Mark Miller
SALUDA — The Rev. Mark Christopher Miller, 46, of 224 Edgewood Road, husband of Aileen Beron Miller, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at Lexington Medical Center.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of Dr. Robert M. and Opal Hall Miller. He was an ordained Baptist minister and the former pastor of Salem Baptist Church, Saluda. He received an associate degree from Anderson College and a bachelor of arts degree from Erskine College. He graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas . A member of the Saluda County Ministerial Association, he served on the Board of Trustees for Connie Maxwell Children’s Home.
Survivors include his parents of Greenwood; his wife; three daughters, Meredith Roxanne Miller, Jocelyn Rae Miller and Neysa Marie Miller, all of the home; two sons, Robert Hall Miller and Keegan Beron Miller, both of the home; and two brothers, Brian Miller of Honea Path and Kyle Miller of Greenwood.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Saluda Baptist Church, conducted by Chaplain Major Ronald Casteel and the Rev. Dennis Campbell. Burial is in West Travis Park Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 Friday at Ramey Funeral Home.

‘Bubba’ Nabors
GREENWOOD — James Edward “Bubba” Nabors, 42, of 207 Duncan Ave., died Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late S.L. and Mary Dutton Nabors. He was formerly employed by Greenwood Mills and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.
Survivors include a sister, Elizabeth Carruth of Greenwood and a brother, Johnny Ray Nabors of Greenwood.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Shane Cox. Burial is in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Tony Brown, Calvin Hodges, Billy Allen, Wally Bell, Johnny White and Mike Tolbert.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of his sister, Elizabeth Carruth, 208 Duncan Ave.

Gladys Gambrell Setzler
GREENWOOD — Gladys Helen Gambrell Setzler, 66, of 230 E. Cambridge St., Apt. 117, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.

Ike Trotter
SALUDA — Ike Trotter, 72, of 432 Butler Road, husband of Faye Kirkland Trotter, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at the VA Medical Center in Augusta.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Clint and Louise Rodgers Trotter. He was a retired employee of Milliken & Co., Johnston, an Army veteran of the Korean conflict and a member and former deacon of Red Bank Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Dana T. Storey of Saluda and Marti T. Gogan of Greenwood; a brother, Oscar Trotter of Eastover; a sister, Alyne Collins of Saluda; and two grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Friday at Red Bank Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Gary Romines. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Ramey Funeral Home.

Carolee Ramsey
WATERLOO — Carolee Bearden Ramsey, 84, of 1105 Relax St., wife of M.F. Ramsey, died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late William Robert and Hattie Clara Orr Bearden. Formerly of Greenville, she has made her home in Waterloo since 1999. She was retired from J.P. Stevens Co. and White Horse Paper Co., both in Greenville. She was a member of New Beginning Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Jean R. Carter of Waterloo; a sister, Mildred Trotter of Greenville; three brothers, Wallace Bearden of Anderson, Chris Bearden of Williamston and Carlisle Bearden of Greenville; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services are at 3 Tuesday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Michael Bearden. Burial is in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are William Carter, Barney Tucker, Olin Johnson, Mitch Harvey, Bob Myers and T.J. Smith.
Visitation is from 2-3 Tuesday at Blyth Funeral Home.
