Alma Reaves
ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. — Alma Ruth Amick Reaves, 96, of Alexander City, formerly of Ware Shoals, widow of Walter Franklin Reaves, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at Russell Medical Center.
Born in Prosperity, she was a daughter of James Luther and Elizabeth Ann Huffsteller Amick. She worked as a card technician in the textile industry and was a member of First Baptist Church, Ware Shoals.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Sylvia Ann) Koon of Alexander City and two grandchildren.
Graveside services are at 3 Saturday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Dan Compton.
Visitation was from 5-7 Friday at Radney’s Funeral Home in Alexander City.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of First United Methodist Church, 310 Green St., Alexander City, AL 35010.

Donald R. Risinger
SALUDA — Donald Ray Risinger, 58, of 612 N. Jefferson St., husband of Linda Raye Hurt Risinger, died Friday, July 5, 2002, at Providence Hospital.
Born in Lexington County, he was a son of the late Nelson David and Janie Leonelle Rikard Risinger. He was retired from Greenwood Mills, Sloan Plant and was a member of Saluda Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Neal Risinger of Honea Path; two daughters, Mrs. David (Robin) Miller of Batesburg and Mrs. Doug (Ingrid) Parkman of Leesville; a brother, David Risinger of Leesville; a sister, Laura Golden of Leesville and three grandchildren.
Services are at 4 Sunday at Clydes Chapel Southern Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Fletcher Rawls. Burial is in the Hurt Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Ramey Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 6604, Columbia, S.C. 29260.

Leila Shelton
GREENWOOD — Leila Vanadore Shelton, 88, of 2001 Highway 246 S., formerly of Williamston, widow of Paris M. Shelton, died Friday, July 5, 2002, at her home.
Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Amelile Elizabeth Fillman Vanadore. She was retired from the textile industry.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Corbin of Greenwood and Charles Shelton of Warne, N.C.; three sisters, Betty Brown of Cleveland, Pansy Powell and Sumaria Poore, both of Anderson; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are at 2:30 Sunday at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Anderson, conducted by Pastor Charles Bell.
The family will be at their respective homes.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Rev. Rutledge Sheridan
GREENWOOD — Rev. Rutledge Dantzler Sheridan Jr., 74, of Apartment Q, Bristol Court in Wesley Commons, husband of Marilyn Olson Fabel Sheridan, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002 in Pillager, Minn.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Rutledge D. Sr. and Lois Neal Sheridan. He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and Wofford College. He was also a graduate of the Divinity School of Duke University. He was a pastor in the South Carolina United Methodist Conference and retired in June, 1993 from Brookland United Methodist Church in West Columbia. He also served in the South Carolina National Guard for 10 years. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Greenwood. He was twice married, first to the late Carolyn Turner Sheridan.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Carol S. Butler of Lexington; two sons, Paul Sheridan of Spartanburg and Alan Sheridan of Chesnee; two stepsons, Randy Fabel of Cold Spring, Minn. and Rory Fabel of Wayzata, Minn.; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Fabel of Osseo, Minn.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are at 1 Monday at Main Street United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Patricia Griffith Fallaw and the Rev. Delos Cordeman. Entombment is at 4 Monday in the Heritage Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Spartanburg. The body will be placed in the church at noon.
Honorary escorts are members of the South Carolina United Methodist Conference.
Visitation is from 7-9 Sunday at Blyth Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to the Chapel/Cultural Center at Wesley Commons, 1110 Marshall Road, Greenwood, S.C. 29646.

Pearl Vaughn
WARE SHOALS — Pearl McCullough Elledge Vaughn, 85, of 119 Elledge Road, wife of Herbert Vaughn, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at National Health Care in Laurens.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Carile and Mammie James McCullough. She was retired from Riegel Textile Corporation and was a member of Princeton Baptist Church. She was twice married, first to the late Benjamin Allen Elledge.
Survivors include her husband of the home; four sons, Robert Lewis Elledge of Ware Shoals, Joseph David Elledge of Princeton, Jefferson Edward Elledge of Simpsonville and Walter C. Elledge of Ware Shoals; a stepson, Benjamin Allen Elledge of Rayford, N.C.; three daughters, Rebecca E. Arnett of Ware Shoals, Mary Ann Babb of Ware Shoals and Amelia E. Davis of Laurens; a stepdaughter, Edna Brown of Knoxville, Tenn.; a brother, Milton McCullough Jr. of Greenville; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Services are at 3 Sunday at Princeton Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Bobby Hardin and the Rev. Lamar Babb. Burial is in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Active pallbearers are Troy Lothridge III, Joey Elledge, Jason Osborne, Bobby Suitts, Donnie Babb and Josh Babb.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Parker-White Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of Mrs. Arnett, 23 Higgins Drive.

McCORMICK — Services for Albirtha Brown Sibert, of the Freeman/Kelly Subdivision, are 3 Monday at the Upper Mount Moriah Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ivary Goodwin, assisted by the Rev. Cuba Boggs. Burial is in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Pallbearers are church officers and members of the Bethany Masonic Lodge 415.
Flower bearers are members of the Women’s Home Aide Society 89 and members of the Bethany Chapter 1 Order of Eastern Star.

Colie Summer
CLINTON — Colie Summer, 90, of Clinton, died Saturday, July 6, 2002, at Langston House in Clinton.
Born in Chappells, she was a daughter of the late Jacob Franklin and Emma Johnson Summer. She was retired from Bailey Hospital and was a member of Chappells Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sisters, Maron S. Eve of Columbia and Essie Mills of Laurens.
Graveside services are at 3:30 Monday in Rosemont Cemetery.
Visitation is from 2:30-3:30 Monday at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.

Ruby Thomas
HONEA PATH — Ruby Elizabeth Thomas, 78, of 1400 Old Land Fill Road, Iva, formerly of Honea Path, widow of Samual Joseph Thomas, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, at the Hospice of the Upstate.
She was a daughter of the late David Rouse and Lucious Kennedy Rouse. She was a member of the New Broadmouth Baptist Church in Honea Path where she served as a member of the Mass Choir and the Missionary Board.
Survivors include five daughters, Leona Paul of Due West, Ruby Jackson of Anderson, Lucy Jefferson of Honea Path, Maggie McDonald of Anderson and Polly Moore of Honea Path; four sons, Lewis Thomas of Abbeville, William Thomas of New York and David Lee Thomas and Jesse Thomas, both of Anderson; two sisters, Clara McBride of Philadelphia and Mary Harmon of Baltimore; two brothers, William Rouse and David Rouse, both of Abbeville; 26 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Services are at 3 Monday at the New Broadmouth Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. J.E. Palmer, Jesse Thomas, Jarvis Brown, William Cowan and John Paul. Burial is in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30.
Visitation is from 7-7:30 tonight at the Holloway’s Funeral Home, 101 Holloway Boulevard, Belton. The family is at the home of a daughter, Polly Moore, 202 U St., Honea Path.

ABBEVILLE — Sidney Dale Brady, 60, of 200 Dundas Road, husband of Margaret Mundy Brady, died Sunday, July 7, 2002, at his home.

Andy Craven
WATERLOO — Anthony Douglas “Andy” Craven II, 21, of 375 Village Store Road, husband of Samantha Rushton Craven, died Sunday, July 7, 2002.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Cindy Dickerson Hill and the late Anthony Douglas Craven. He was a former employee of Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother and stepfather, James William Hill of Waterloo; five sons, Jacob Craven and Dylan Craven, both of Fort Worth, Texas ; Bradley Weaghington and Bailey Weaghington, both of Waterloo and Tanner Craven, expected to be born on Aug. 30; two sisters, Abbe McElhannon and Reba Hill, both of Waterloo; a stepbrother, James William Hill Jr. of Joanna and grandmothers, Lila Langley of Greenwood and Mary Sue Hill of Cross Hill.
Services are at 2:30 Tuesday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Bobby Davis. Burial is in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Eric Poore, Alvin Pennington, Gary Couch, Tim Mattison, Roger Craven, Dale Craven, Nathan Craven Sr. and Michael Craven.

Paul E. Goodwin
SALUDA — Paul Edward Goodwin, 62, of 104 Buffington Drive, husband of Gloria Goodwin, died Saturday, July 6, 2002, at his home.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Ruby Elise McCormick Goodwin. He retired from Rachlin and was owner and manager of Furniture Bargain Shed. He was a member of Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church where he was the active superintendent of Sunday School and had served on the church board.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Mark Berry of Saluda, Mike Berry of Leesville and Myron Berry of Aiken; two sisters, Mrs. Archie (Evelyn) Jones of Blythewood and Sara Boykin of Camden and five grandchildren.
Services are at 4 Tuesday at Ramey Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Roger Phillips. Burial is in Rose Lawn Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers are the Bethel PH Adult Sunday School Class.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Ramey Funeral Home.

GREENWOOD — Annie Mae Holmes, 78, formerly of A-2 Parkway Court, died Sunday, July 7, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Yank Furman and Louvenia Holloway. She was a member of Old Mount Zion Baptist Church of Epworth.
Survivors include three sons, Timothy Holmes of Greenwood, Jessie Holloway of Charlotte and Willie Glenn of Greenville; two daughters, Cheryl Lynn Calhoun and Diana Holmes, both of Greenwood; a stepdaughter, Rosa Mae Aiken of Greenwood; two brothers, James and M.C. Coleman of Greenwood; an adopted brother, Robert Lee Floyd of Greenwood; two sisters, Ada Lee Goodman and Julia Mae Roundtree of Greenwood; an adopted sister, Lizzie Fuller of Greenwood; stepsisters, Frances Roundtree, Sarah Davis and Julia Mae Singleton of Greenwood; two grandchildren raised in the home, Michelle Martin and Lamon Holmes; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Cheryl Lynn Calhoun, Pine Hill Drive, off Highway 10.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc.

James ‘Bubba’ Nedwards
GREENWOOD — James “Bubba” Nedwards, 78, of 109 New St., husband of Martha Starks Nedwards, died Sunday, July 7, 2002, at his home.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Sam and Alice Fuller Nedwards. He was a member of Weston Chapel A.M.E. Church. He was a former Church Treasurer and a mason. He was a member of the Steward and Trustee Boards and Finance Committee, the American Legion Post 224 and the Sons of Aide 55. He retired from Park Seed Company.
Survivors include his wife and a brother, James Graham of Brooklyn, N.Y.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc.
