Don Beckham
GREENWOOD -- Donald Ruben "Don" Beckham, Sr., 61, of 430 Circle Drive, Greenwood, died Wednes-day Septem-ber 11, 2002 at Self Re-gional Health Care.
Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late William Ruben Beckham and Lizzie Griffin Beckham Sleigh. He was a sheet metal mechanic and served in the US Army and the SC Army National Guard. He was an avid golfer.
Surviving is his companion, Evelyn Miller of the home; a son, Donald Ruben "Donnie" Beckham, Jr. of Greenwood; two daughters, Donna Harrison of Greenwood and Denise "Dee Dee" Miller of Anderson; four grandchildren, Debra Caldwell, Joshua Caldwell, Tara Miller and Brandon Miller; five sisters, Marge Herbes of Cave Creek, AZ, Jean Hendrix of Prosperity, SC, Nancy Bouknight of Anderson, SC, Jo Thigpen of Cades, SC, and Helen Mitchell of Chapin, SC; and Evelyn's children, Bobby Miller, Becky Worthington, James Miller, Jean Duncan and Ann Ebert.
He was preceded in death by a wife, Mary Jane Beckham and a special friend, H. R. "Ray" Babb, whom he thought of as a brother.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mickey Heyward officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be James Miller, Tommy Harrison, James Duncan, Roger Worthington, Doug Ebert and Dennis Clark.
Honorary escort will be David Dill, Wayne Jackson, Brent McCurry, Marshall Willis, Danny Tyler, Ryan Fisher, Cindy Norman, Home Health Care Nurses of Self Regional and the 5th floor nursing staff of St. Francis Hospital.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Harley Funeral Home to be applied to the account of Donald R. Beckham, Sr., PO Box 777, Greenwood, SC 29648.

CHESTER — Ruth Coleman Black, 85, of 105 Moore St., formerly of Cross Hill, widow of Kenneth Lanier Black, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002, at her home.
Barron Funeral Home is in charge.

Robert ‘Bubba’ Johnson
BRADLEY — Robert “Bubba” Johnson, 59, husband of Patricia Bowie Johnson, of 604 New Zion Road, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late M.C. and Virginia Moore Johnson. He was a truck driver for Greenwood County, an Air Force veteran and a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Robert M.C. Johnson of Greenwood and Delphio Johnson of Florida; a daughter, Shannon Nichelle Johnson of Greenwood; five brothers, William Johnson, Raymond Johnson, Waymond Johnson, Willie James Johnson and Larry Johnson, all of Promised Land; four sisters, Mary Chapman, Etrulla “Dill” Brown, Lottie M. Morton and Carolyn Johnson, all of Promised Land; and five grandchildren, two reared in the home, Desean Freeman and Rondala Hentz.
The family is at the home and at the home of a sister, 303 Morton Road.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc.

Mary Downing Lindsey
COKESBURY — Services for Mary Downing Lindsey are 2 p.m. Sunday at Morris Chapel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Johnathan Green. Assisting are the Revs. Al Green, Willie S. Harrison, Dora A. White, Thesa Smith and Amos Harling. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Cornell Chandler, Jerald Roundtree, Joseph Hackett, Harper Williams, Paul Morton, John E. Jones Sr., James Gunby, Hubert Fisher and Marvin Christopher.
Honorary escorts are church deacons, deaconesses and ushers and members of Harmony Chapter No. 282 Order of the Eastern Star, Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha and Brewer High School Class of 1954.
Visitation is from 7-8 Saturday at Parks Funeral Home.
The family is at the home, 105 Virgin Drive, Hodges, Cokesbury Community.

SILVER SPRINGS, Md. — Services for Curtis Martin are at noon Saturday at The Bethany Baptist Church, McCormick, S.C., conducted by the Rev. Robert Haskell, pastor. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at Walker Funeral Home. The family is at the home of a brother-in-law, Frank Sibert, 705 Talbert St., McCormick.

Marion Mason Murray
ATLANTA — Services for Marion Naomi Mason Murray were 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Atlanta.
Local family members are at the home of a sister, Mrs. H.B. (Hiwadii) Mitchell, 109 Lincoln Ave., Greenwood.

Early William Baker
Early William “Penny” Baker, 60, formerly of Ninety Six, husband of Mattie Lee Carroll Baker, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 in Greenwood County.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Willie and Lillie Mae Tolbert Baker. He attended Jacob Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Willie Earl Baker of Ninety Six; two daughters, Rose Marie Baker and Linda Ann Baker-Camper of Greenwood; four nieces reared in the home, Mattie Baker Patterson, Willie Mae Mosley, Candice Chambers and Sharise Chambers of Greenwood; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Rose Baker, 130 Independence Way and the home of a niece, Mattie Mae Patterson, 615 Gage St.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home.

Erin Raye Bryant
Erin Raye Bryant, infant daughter of Nichols D. and Eruca Lynn Bryant, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her parents, maternal grandparents, Eulise and Janie Brown and paternal grandparents, Janie and Lee Anthony Bryant, all of Greenwood.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. today in Oakbrook Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Johnathan Green.
The family is at the home, 107 Redwood Drive, Wisewood subdivision.

Ida Garber
Graveside service for Ida Berger Garber, 88, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hebrew Benevolent Society Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, September 17, 2002 at Harley Funeral Home, 1025 S. Main Street, Greenwood, S.C. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials may be made to Beth Shalom Synagogue, 5827 North Trenholm Rd., Columbia, S.C. 29206. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is in charge.
Mrs. Garber, wife of the late Sam Garber, died Thursday, September 12, 2002. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Harris and Rebecca Berger. She was a graduate of St. Matthews High School, and Winthrop University, Class of 1936. She taught school at De La Howe Children's Home in McCormick, S.C. She was past owner and operator of The Style Shop in Greenwood, past president of the Business and Professional Women's Club, and past member and Officer of the Greenwood Chapter of Winthrop Alumni Association. She was a member of Beth Shalom Synagogue, Columbia, S.C.
Surviving are her son, Mark Garber of Greenwood, S.C.; grandchildren, Bonnie Garber of Atlanta, Ga., Rebecca Garber of Charlotte, N.C., Sarah Price of Atlanta, Ga., Susie Garber of Greenwood, S.C., Heather Garber of Greenville, S.C., and Jacob Garber of Greenwood, S.C.; and great grandchildren, Jonathan Oakes of Atlanta, Ga., and Eric Whittington of Greenwood, S.C. She was predeceased by a son, Victor Garber.

Bennie Lee Gray
JOHNSTON — Bennie Lee Andrews Gray, 93, widow of Willie Gray Sr., of 492 J. Paul Road, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002 at her home.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Milton and Elise Bell Andrews. She was a homemaker and a member of Mine Creek Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Women Home Aide Society, Mine Creek Burial Aide Society, Mount Alpha Burial Aide Society and the Young Men of Honor of Johnston.
Survivors include two sons, Willie Gray Jr. of Johnston and James A. Gray of Seat Pleasant, Md.; five daughters, Addie L. White and Mildred Gray, both of Johnston, Nellie G. Smith of Columbus, Ga., Marjorie Miles of Washington , D.C., and Sarah G. Richardson of Saluda; a sister, Ellen Copeland of Waterbury, Conn.; an adopted daughter, Margaret Burton of Johnston; 48 grandchildren, 95 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren.
Services are 4 p.m. Sunday at Mine Creek Baptist Church, Saluda, conducted by the Rev. George Key, pastor, along with the Revs. Arthur Kemp, William Thompson, Joe Napier, Andrew Adams and Inez Kemp. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are grandsons, and flower bearers are granddaughters.
The family is at the home.

BRADLEY — Services for Robert “Bubba” Johnson are 1 p.m. Monday at Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, Promised Land, officiated by the Rev. Carnell Moton. Assisting are the Rev. James Speed, pastor, and the Revs. Willie N. Norman Jr., Gracie Smith and Raymond Adams. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are nephews, and flower bearers are nieces.
Visitation is Sunday at the home, 604 New Zion Road, and at the home of a sister, 306 Morton Road.

Cora Morrow
LOWNDESVILLE — Cora Williams Morrow, 89, formerly of Lowndesville, widow of Henry Brooks Morrow, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 at Abbeville Nursing Home.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Annie Chambers Williams. She was a homemaker and a member of Lowndesville Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Morrow of Elberton, Ga., and Wallace Morrow of Savannah, Ga.; a daughter, Edna Morrow Turner of Gainesville, Fla.; a sister, Newtie Shaw; and a several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Ridge Cemetery, Lowndesville.
Visitation is from 1:30-3 Sunday at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville.
Family members are at the homes of two granddaughters, Melinda Wiley, 309 Tate St. and Tammy Morrow, 518 Kershaw St., both in Calhoun Falls.

Tracey Styron
NINETY SIX — Tracey Dean Styron, 32, of 102 Sirrine St., died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002 at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Ted Styron and the late Sophie Ann DeVore Styron. He had attended Ninety Six High School and attended Ninety Six Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include his father of Jasper, Ga.; a sister, Cynthia S. Hodges of St. Matthews; and two brothers, Tony R. Styron of Newberry and Jeffrey Todd Styron of Ninety Six.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. J. Carlisle Grimsley and Ned McCarthy Jr. Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Roger Dale Worthington Jr., Jason R. Styron, Timothy Styron, Bruce Alan Hodges Jr., Steve Howard, Terry DeVore, David Ek and Stacey Coleman.
Honorary escorts are Rickey Turner, Curtis Hepler, Ricky Brown and Jimmy Brown.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Raymond E. Tucker
LAURENS — Raymond Eugene Tucker, 81, husband of Minnie Brown Tucker, of 202 Furman Avenue, died Thursday, September 12, 2002 at Laurens County Hospital.
Born in Fairmont, WV, he was a son of the late Selva Marshall and Lavada Hall Tucker. He was retired from Laurens Glass Plant, a member of Laurens First Baptist Church, a U.S. Air Force World War II Veteran, a member of the American Federation Union of Laurens Glass, and a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie Brown Tucker of the home; 2 sons, Gene Tucker and wife Nancy W. of Greenwood and Lee Tucker of Laurens; a brother, Walter Tucker of Fairmont, WV; 2 sisters, Mildred Tucker and Hazel Fox, both of Grafton, WV; 3 grandchildren, Elizabeth Annette Tucker, Andrew Harrison Walden, and Carrie Hataway Walden. He was predeceased by a brother, Wayne Lee Tucker of Kansas.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Monday, September 16, 2002 at Westview Memorial Park conducted by Dr. Bev T. Kennedy, Jr.
The family will be at the residence, 202 Furman Avenue, and will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Laurens First Baptist Church, Family Life Center, 300 W. Main Street, Laurens, SC 29360, or Hillcrest Baptist Church, 216 Independence Avenue, Laurens, SC 29360.
