Melody Loraine “Mel” Wideman Wright, 31, of 107 Peachtree St., Magnolia Place, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of James Covington and Hazel Jean Wideman. A former employee of Hardee’s, she attended Greenwood public schools and was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include her father of Edgefield; her mother of the home; her husband, Greg Wright of Greenwood; her stepmother, Shirley Covington of Edgefield; a daughter, Domonique Wideman of the home; two brothers, Pernell Harris of the home and Thurston Wideman of Bishopville; a stepsister, Charity Walker of Greenwood; maternal grandmother, Ruth Wideman of Greenwood; maternal grandfather, Willie Wideman of Greenwood; paternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Sarah Covington Hogan and Pleg Hogan of Greenwood.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc.

Constance Galeazzi
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Constance Haskell Galeazzi, 46, of 9480 Princeton Square Blvd., formerly of Abbeville, S.C., died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002 at her home.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of Christine Haskell-Salter and Rufus Johnson. She was a graduate of Abbeville High School and a former member of Southside Baptist Church, Greenwood.
Survivors include her mother of Buffalo, N.Y.; her father of Evanston, Ill.; two daughters, Terrell and Ingrid Haskell, both of Jacksonville; a son, Oltimontie’ Haskell of South Carolina; and three grandchildren reared in the home, Kymberly and Zya, both of Jacksonville, and Shanequa of Calhoun Falls, S.C.
The family is at the home of Shirley Peterson, 192 Mount Olive Church Road, Abbeville.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Thursday in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Abbeville, conducted by Pastor Hosie Byrd Sr.
Abbeville & White Mortuary is in charge.

Evetter T. Kitchings
SALUDA — Evetter Turner Kitchings, 81, of 114 Griffin Park Road, widow of Jake J. Kitchings, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002 at her home.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Robert M. and Rosie Bell Rowe Turner. She was a retired textile employee and a member of Hopewell Congregational Holiness Church.
Survivors include a son, Billy Earl Kitchings of Ward; a daughter, Lillie Rea of West Columbia; two brothers, Clyde Turner of Saluda and Tony Turner of Prosperity; three sisters, Gladys Davis, Maude Blackmon and Lelia Crenshaw, all of Saluda; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services are 3:30 p.m. today at Hopewell Congregational Holiness Church, with burial in Travis Park Cemetery.

Otis Bunell Mathis
ATLANTA — Otis Bunell Mathis, of 55 Bradley St., Apt. 1, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002 at his home. He was a son of Eva Jones.
Survivors include his mother of Atlanta; a daughter, Margie Williams of the Callison Community, S.C.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Donald Trimble Mortuary in Decatur.

Anne E. Woellert
ARLINGTON, Va. — Anne Elizabeth Woellert, 68, formerly of Greenwood, S.C., widow of Richard Woellert, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002 at her home in Arlington.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, she was a daughter of Adelaide and Vincent Marchi. She was a cosmetologist for more than 20 years and retired from Handy Pantry Stores in 1998.
Survivors include two sons, Kirk Woellert of Arlington and John Kashner of Hodges, S.C.; a daughter, Felecia Barrett of Fayetteville, N.C.; a brother, John Marchi of Abbeville, S.C.; and three grandchildren.
Memorial services are 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Tranquil United Methodist Church, Greenwood, conducted by the Rev. Jim Patterson. Burial is in Gainesville, Fla.
The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Marchi, Abbeville.

Services for Melody Loraine “Mel” Wideman Wright, of 107 Peachtree St., Magnolia Place, are 2 p.m. Thursday at Robinson & Son Mortuary, conducted by the Rev. Norris Turner. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are friends of the family.
Visitation is today at the home.

Ruth G. Broadwell
LIBERTY — Ruth McClain Gibert Broadwell, 80, of 469 Liberty Highway, formerly of Abbeville, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002 at the home of a daughter, Linda Thomas.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Claudia Mittie Pearman McClain. She was twice married, first to the late Sgt. Maj. Steven Gibert and then to the late Clyde H. Broadwell. She retired from Clemson University and was a member of Tri-City Baptist Church in Easley.
Survivors include three daughters, Hazel Cape of Greenwood, Mary Sue Whitus of Mineola, Texas and Linda Thomas of Liberty; a brother, Gene McClain of Calhoun Falls; a sister, Doris Sullivan of Florence; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Lebanon Presbyterian Church, Abbeville, conducted by the Revs. Richard Shinault, Arnold Johnson and Brad Dover. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is at the church Cemetery, after the services.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Linda Thomas, 469 Liberty Highway.

Willie Mae Carson
GREENWOOD — Willie Mae Jones Carson, 80, of 1126 Spring Street, widow of Harold W. Carson, died Wednesday, October 02, 2002 at her home.
Born in South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Thomas David and Sophie Mae Johnson Jones. She was retired from J. C. Penney and Greenwood County Tax Assessor's Office. She was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church.
Surviving is a son, H. David Carson of Greenwood; a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Cyndie) Willis of Greenwood; and two grandsons, Neal Willis and Andy Willis, both of Greenwood.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dave Patterson officiating.
The family is at the home of Jerry & Cyndie Willis, 411 Lakeshore Drive.

Grange L. Chumley, of 602 Jordan St., husband of Margaret Chumley, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002 at Richard M. Campbell Nursing Home in Anderson.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home.

WARE SHOALS — Debra M. Gregory Crain, 42, of 433 Elledge Road, wife of Marty R. Crain Sr., died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of Bobby L. and Nettie Thompson Gregory Sr. She was a member of Believers Assembly in Clinton.
Survivors include her husband of the home; her parents of Ware Shoals; two sons, Marty R. Crain Jr. of Ware Shoals and Timothy B. Smith of Columbia; a daughter, Donna M. Crain of Mountville; a brother, Bobby L. Gregory Jr. of Ware Shoals; a sister, Karen Lee Craine of Ware Shoals; and five grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Friday at Parker-White Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Mike Campbell. Burial is in Rosemont Cemetery, Clinton.
Pallbearers are Jamie Summers, Walter Summers, Chris Craine, Bill Prather, Jameson Taylor and Eddie Craine Jr. Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

WARE SHOALS — Saul Tiger Crawford, of 5567 Highway 252, infant son of Craig “Skeeter” and Cyndee Davis Crawford, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include his parents of the home; maternal grandparents, Kyle and Herta Davis of Las Vegas and Juanita Wardell of Ware Shoals; paternal grandparents, Herman and Billie Jean Crawford of Ware Shoals; maternal great-grandparents, Ralph and Helen Davis Smith of Ware Shoals; paternal great-grandparents, Ed and Bill Moore of Ware Shoals and Laura Crawford of Ware Shoals.
Services are 4 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Robert Emory, Chris Stansell and John Abrams. Burial is in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Visitation is from 3-4 today at the church.

Mabel J. Porter
MOUNT CARMEL, Tenn. — Mabel Johnson Porter, 79, wife of Wallace Porter, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Pennington Gap, Va., she was a daughter of the late Albert and Della Mae Johnson. She graduated from St. Charles High School and was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church of Kingsport.
Survivors include her husband of Mount Carmel, Tenn.; a daughter, Belinda Shields of Overland Park, Kan.; and a granddaughter.
Services are 12:30 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, conducted by David Cordrey, minister. Burial is in Oak Hill Cemetery, Kingsport.
Pallbearers are Dr. Frank Paul Johnson, Randy E. Johnson, Aaron Hawkins, Chip Gilliam, Dewey Sanders and Kermit Sanders.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

SALUDA — Bunyon Watson, 83, husband of Mary J. Watson, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002 at the Saluda Nursing Center.
Born in Saluda, he was a son of the late William and Addie B. Watson. He attended Saluda County public schools, was a member of Mine Creek Baptist Church and retired from Milliken & Co., Saluda Plant.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Bobby Watson and two daughters, Ella Watson and Peggy W. Taylor, all of Saluda; and a brother, Willie J. Watson.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Mine Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. George Key, pastor.

Ruth G. Broadwell

Grange Littlefield “Pete” Chumley, of 602 Jordan St., husband of Margaret Smith Chumley, died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002 at Richard M. Campbell Veteran’s Nursing Home in Anderson.
Born in Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late James C. and Ramah Littlefield Chumley. He was a World War II Army veteran and a prisoner of war. He retired from Abney Mills, Grendel Plant and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Nick (Judy) Maternus of Simpsonville, Mrs. Bob (Gail) Yanniello of Asheville, N.C., and Elaine Ginn of Greenwood; a son, Jay Chumley of Belton; two sisters, Eunice Fleming of Laurens and Sarah Hopkins of Mauldin; four grandchildren.
Graveside services are at noon Saturday in Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Joseph Ouzts.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Blyth Funeral Home.
