ABBEVILLE — Services arrangements for Alexander Laster, of 380 Hodges Road, have been changed. Services are 2 p.m. today at Mount Olive Baptist Church, conducted by Bishop Emanuel Spearman. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Carlton L. Long
NINETY SIX — Carlton Leon Long, 60, of 121 Saluda St., husband of Janice Faye Corbin Long, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Frances Lucille Kent Johnson and the late Carl Henry Long. He retired from Security Forces as district manager of the Charleston District and had served in the Navy. He was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother of Beech Island; two daughters, Kristin Long and Karen Long, both of the home; a son, Bryan Corbin of Greenwood; two sisters, Glenda Nichols of West Columbia and Betty Jean Booth of Fayetteville, N.C.; two brothers, Jimmy Long of Hodges and Darrel Long of Central; and a grandchild.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Greg Holladay. Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are members of Lower Lake Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department.
Honorary escorts are Dr. Claudio Guareschi, Dr. J.W. Holman, Dr. F.J. Chaltry, Dr. Jonna Sadurksci, Dr. Richard Hobson, Terry Rand and the nursing staff of Self Regional CICU.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight the funeral home.

Dennis McCoy
O. Dennis McCoy, 67, of 116 Avondale Road, husband of Florine “Flo” Cooper McCoy, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Floyd Oliver and Lula Roberts McCoy. He was a graduate of Ware Shoals High School, retired as manager of Farr Music, Greenwood store after 26 years of service and was an organist for Blyth Funeral Home. He also taught private organ and piano lessons. A member of Ninety Six Pentecostal Holiness Church, he was the Minister of Music and church organist for 36 years. He was also a member of the official board of the church, where he served as church secretary and director of the children and youth’s choirs. He was a member of the Adult No. 5 Sunday School Class of the church and a past member of the Music Teachers Association.
Surviving include his wife of the home; two sons, Jeffrey D. “Jeff” McCoy of West Palm Beach, Fla., and D. Jan McCoy of Rock Hill; a brother, Carroll McCoy of Hodges; five sisters, Betty Powell of Cross Hill, Charlotte Burnett of Piedmont, Yvonne Harrington of Ninety Six, Gloria Gattis of Abbeville and Myra Springs of Walhalla; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services are 3 p.m. Sunday at Ninety Six Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev. Ben Edwards. The body will be placed in the church at 2. Burial is in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Chad Matthews, Dean Jones, Dennis Kelly, Charles Brown, Steve Brown, Earlie Gunnells, Colin McDonald and Michael Weeks.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home in Avondale.

Cecil Miner
ABBEVILLE — Cecil Delbert Miner, 79, of 105 Klugh Circle, husband of Doris Oakley Miner, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at his home.
Born in Randolph, Vt., he was a son of the late Paul Nelson and Inez Bennett Miner. A retired finish carpenter, he worked for GLEAMNS after retirement and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home and a son, Bryan Miner of Seattle.
Memorial services are 3 p.m. Sunday at Southside Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Earl Hartley and Hugh Fortson.
The family is at the home.

The Rev. Cynthia Dye
The Rev. Cynthia Elaine Dye, 41, of 114 Flatwood Road, Hodges, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of Jestine Freeman Dye and the late Willie Ernest Dye. She was a member of the Greenwood High School Class of 1979, ordained minister, member of the Ministerial Alliance, owner and cosmetologist at Future Style Hair Salon, member of International Hair Team, SCSCA Region 8 Cosmetology Association and a home interior accessory specialist. She was a member of Springfield Baptist Church, Edgefield.
Survivors include her mother of the home; paternal grandmother, Carrie Parks of Greenwood; two brothers, Ernest T. Dye Sr. of Greenwood and Roy Freeman of Hodges; three sisters, Wanda Smiley of Hodges, Sandra Freeman of Greenwood and Linda Brown of Bradley; and a goddaughter, Jasmine Rollinson of Greenwood.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home.

Ethel Rush
Ethel Watson Rush, 96, formerly of 237 Woodrow Ave., widow of John K. “Kirk” Rush, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at Hospice House, Anderson.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Edgar Allen and Sallie Hart Rush. She was a homemaker and a member of South Main Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Opal Rush Anderson of Anderson; a son, Wayne F. Rush of Columbia; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. today at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Richard McWhite. Visitation is at the graveside following the service.
Memorials may be made to South Main Street Baptist Church, PO Box 1093, Greenwood, SC 29648 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Darion J. Williams
Darion Jordan “Doc” Williams, 33, of 123 Wheatfield Drive, formerly of Saluda, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at the home of a sister.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of Jordan Williams and the late Julia Mae Etheredge Williams. He was a member of the Saluda High Class of 1987 and an employee of Louis Rich. He was a member of the Lockhart Baptist Church.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Mary T. Williams of Saluda; a daughter, Deza Arionna Williams of Augusta, Ga.; eight sisters, Mrs. Jerry (Corene W.) Lott and Mrs. Bennie (Lucinda) Johnson, both of Saluda, Annie Brown, Mrs. Dennis (LaShika) Wiggins, Mrs. Stacy (Lisa) Talbert, Mrs. Larry (Gloria) Holmes and Mrs. John (Marthella) Sadler, all of Greenwood and Helen Williams of New York; three brothers, Don C. (Phyllis) Williams, John N. Williams and Sammy Etheredge, all of Saluda; three stepsisters, Joann Thompson and Mrs. Raliegh (Brenda) Robinson, both of Ninety Six and Mrs. Milton (Valrie) Robinson of Honea Path; two stepbrothers, Nathan (Linda) Thompson Jr. and Walleed (Mary) Thompson, both of Greenwood; and maternal grandmother, Corine Etheredge of Maryland.
Services are 3 p.m. Wednesday at Lockhart Baptist Church, conducted by Apostle Jessie Simmons, assisted by the Rev. Raymond Adams, Pastor Kelvin Simmons and Evangelist Theressa Henderson. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Aaron Hopkins, Albert Matthew, Richard Bugg, Travis Brentt, Tony Walker and Graham Williams.
Flower bearers are friends and family.
The family is at the home of a brother, Don Williams, 893 Pencreek Road, Saluda.

Homer L. Workman
LAURENS — Homer Lee Workman, 62, of 29 Abington Lane, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Laurens, he was a son of the late Leroy Workman Sr. and Effie Loree Lawson Workman. He was a retired employee of Laurens Glass Plant. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three brothers, Leroy Workman Jr., Darvin Workman and Eugene Workman, all of Laurens; four sisters, Lucille Erskine of Clinton, Annie Bennett of Greenwood, Edna Hayes of Laurens and Christine Morse of Ninety Six; and two grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Kennedy Mortuary, conducted by the Rev. Gary Byrd. Burial is in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation is from 7-8:30 tonight at Kennedy Mortuary.
The family is at 206 Wilson St.

Annie Brown
Annie Brown, 45, of 1413 May St., died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of Bernice Etheredge Brown and the late R.L. Robinson. She was a member of Saluda High School Class of 1971 and a former employee of Red Lobster. She was a member of Lockhart Baptist Church.
Survivors include her mother of Maryland; three sons, Robert T. Brown of Wateree, Maureen J. Brown and James S. Brown, both of Greenwood; two daughters, Mrs. John (Helen B.) Marshall and Latoya B. Brown, both of Greenwood; 10 sisters, Lannie Robinson, Mrs. Jerry (Corene W.) Lott and Mrs. Bennie (Lucinda) Johnson, all of Saluda, Diane Bletecher of Greenville, Mrs. Dennis (LaShika) Wiggins, Mrs. Stacy (Lisa) Talbert, Mrs. Larry (Gloria) Holmes and Mrs. John (Marthella) Sadler, all of Greenwood and Helen Williams of New York; four brothers, Abby Brown of Washington , Willie J. (Lula Mae) Robinson, Don C. (Phyllis) Williams, John N. Williams and Sammy Etheredge, all of Saluda; maternal grandmother, Corine Etheredge of Maryland; godfather, Jordan Williams of Saluda; and seven grandchildren, two reared in the home, Marquish Brown and Kelijiah Brown.
Services are 3 p.m. Wednesday at Lockhart Baptist Church, conducted by Apostle Jessie Simmons, assisted by the Rev. Raymond Adams, Pastor Kelvin Simmons and Evangelist Theressa Henderson. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Freddie Robinson, Dewayne Nick, Terrance Nick, Draplen Nick, Isiaha Griffin and Michael Childs.

Art Ayers Drummond
Art Adelia Ayers Drummond, 89, formerly of 128 Thompson Drive, widow of James Theodore Drummond, died Saturday, October 5, 2002 at National Health Care Center of Greenwood.
She was a daughter of the late Curtis and Lillian Tucker. She was a homemaker and a member of Harris Baptist Church. She was predeceased by a grandson James William McCombs.
Surviving are a son James Theodore Drummond Jr. of Gilbert; two daughters Karen D. McCombs of Greenwood and Ruth D. Hagood of Calhoun Falls; two sisters Rebecka Hughey of Piedmont and Sara Price of Greenwood; two brothers the Rev. Fred Ayers of Clinton and Philip Ayers of Greenwood seven grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Ray and Steve Drummond, David Ayers, Billy McCombs, Todd Hagood and Pete Hagood.
The body is at Harley Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Clyde Griffin Evans
Clyde Griffin Evans, 80, formerly of 405 Bond Street, husband of Jeanette Patisaul Evans, died Sunday October 6, 2002 at Wesley Commons.
Born in Anderson, he was a son of the late Major Washington and Ollie Dickerson Evans. He was retired from the Mathews Plant of Greenwood Mills where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was also a member of Mathews United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Wilson Bible Class. He was a former member of the Mathews Masonic Lodge and the Hejaz Shrine Temple. He was predeceased by a son Wayne Berry Evans.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter Mary Esther Evans Dorn of Greenwood; three sisters Lola Mae Ivey of Bath, Elizabeth Cook of Alameda California, and Juanita Mathews of Huntsville Alabama; one brother Ralph Evans of Columbia; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Mathews United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nellie Cloniger, the Rev. John Hipp, the Rev. Carol Pepper Wray, and the Rev. Lewis Sherrad officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Joey Dorn, Michael Dorn Jr., Ralph Evans Jr., Charles Miller, Russell Wilson, Kevin Miller, and Raymond Davis.
Honorary escorts will be the Wilson Bible Class of Mathews United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men’s Club.
The body is at Harley Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. and the body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to Mathews United Methodist Church or to the Ted R. Morton Health Care Center of Wesley Commons.

ANDERSON — Ruby M. Shepherd, 74, of 305 Queen Drive, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at Hospice House. Born in Due West, she was a daughter of the late Jessie and Lillie Woodson McAlister. She was a retired employee of Solutia, a member of the Golden Jewel class and a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church, Piedmont.
Survivors include a son, Tim Shepherd of Williamston; two daughters, Gloria Wallace of Anderson and Vicki Lewis of Williamston; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at The McDougald Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Huford Cash. Burial is in Belton City Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at The McDougald Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Vicki Lewis, 320 Sweet Gum Circle.
