ABBEVILLE — Edna Stamey Whitlow, 74, widow of James Whitlow, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Hospice House, Anderson.
Born in McCormick County, she was a daughter of the late John Tony and Lou Ellen Minor Stamey.
She was a retired Registered Nurse and Textile employee. She was a member of The Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church, Anderson.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Knoth of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three sons, James Ashley Jr. and John Ashley, both of Greenwood and Lonnie Ashley of Hodges; a brother, Roy Stamey of Greenwood; a sister, Jean Walker of Hendersonville, N.C.; and a number of grandchildren.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Warrenton Presbyterian Church Cemetery, conducted by Bishop Harold Dabel.
Visitation is from 1-2 Tuesday at Warrenton Presbyterian Church.
The family is at the home of her sister-in-law, Lillie Stamey, 721 Watts Road.
Memorials may be made to The Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church, 105 Kenilworth Drive, Greenwood, S.C. 29649.

Helen R. Briggs
HODGES — Helen R. Briggs, 73, of 622 Ridge Road, wife of Fred Briggs, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002 at her home.
Born in South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Frank Radford and Tency Hastings Horne. She retired from Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant after 56 years of service and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Betty Lou Nicely of Greenwood; a sister, Ruby Nell Ouzts of Epworth; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Wednesday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Bob Napier. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Jerome Ouzts, Denton Ouzts, Doug Abney, Daniel Stone, Robbie Rush and James Rush. Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.

Clarence Dennis
Clarence Otto Dennis, 80, of 728 Truett St., husband of Helen Larkins Dennis, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002 at his home.
Born in Prattville, Ala., he was a son of the late Dave and Ona Belle Davis Dennis. He retired from Greenwood Mills, Durst Plant and was a member of Mount Vernon Holiness Church in Seneca. Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Bob Dennis of Easley, John Dennis of Greenville and David Dennis of Acworth, Ga.; a daughter, Vicki Williamson of Clemson; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services are 3:30 p.m. today at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Dennis Smith, Tim Williamson and Frankie McClain. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Timothy Williamson II, Robbie Morris, Kyle Preskitt, Josh Martin, Harold Hudson, John Reynolds and Jonathan Dennis.
Honorary escorts are Rudy Adams, Pete Day, Joel Brown, Dean Butler, J.D. Smith and Joe Ward. Visitation is from 2-3:30 today at the funeral home.

Art Ayers Drummond
Art Adelia Ayers Drummond, 89, formerly of 128 Thompson Drive, widow of James Theodore Drummond, died Saturday, October 5, 2002 at National Health Care Center of Greenwood.
She was a daughter of the late Curtis and Lillian Tucker Ayers. She was a homemaker and a member of Harris Baptist Church. She was predeceased by a grandson, James William McCombs Jr.
Surviving are a son, James Theodore Drummond Jr. of Gilbert; two daughters, Karen D. McCombs of Greenwood and Ruth D. Hagood of Calhoun Falls; two sisters, Rebecca Hughey of Piedmont and Sara Price of Greenwood; two brothers, Rev. Fred Ayers of Clinton and Philip Ayers of Greenwood; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Ray and Steve Drummond, David Ayers, Billy McCombs, Todd Hagood and Pete Hagood.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646 or the Meals on Wheels.
The family is at their respective homes.

HODGES — Services for the Rev. Cynthia Elaine Dye, of 114 Flatwood Road, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Springfield Baptist Church, Edgefield, conducted by Bishop Emanuel Spearman. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are family friends and members of Greenwood High School Class of 1979.
Flower bearers are members of Greenwood High School Class of 1979.
Honorary escorts are cosmetologists, and Women of Faith.

Charlotte A. Leon
HARTSVILLE - Graveside services for Charlotte Anderson Leon, widow of Rudy Leon, will be held Tuesday, 10/08/02 at 12:00 from Magnolia Cemetery. Dr. Bob Cline will officiate, directed by Norton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Leon was born in Great Falls, SC, the daughter of the late Jack M. and Lottie Myra Suggs Anderson. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she enjoyed spending time with the young children in the nursery department. She also was a member of the Eastern Star and Woodmen of the World. She was retired from Hartsville Mill.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Dotty and Philip Lagroon of Greenwood, SC; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Iretha Gilbert of Spartanburg, SC and Hallie and Calvin Ledford of Spartanburg, SC; four grandchildren, Brandy Snyder of Atlanta, GA, Brandon Snyder of Charlotte, NC and Nicholas and Amanda Snyder, both of Greenwood, SC.
Memorials may be made to the Connie Maxwell Childrens Home, PO Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648-9989.
She was predeceased by Stepmother Willie Mae D. Anderson.

Angelica G. Marner
IVA — Angelica Grace Marner, infant daughter of Eli and Arloa Marner of 3377 Highway 201, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002.
Survivors include her parents of the home; a sister, Emilie Marner and a brother, Alex Marner, both of the home.
Graveside services are 4 p.m. today in Shiloh Mennonite Church Cemetery, conducted by the Revs. Gary Troyer and Jerry Stoltzfus.

Sudie Norris
ABBEVILLE — Sudie Elizabeth Young Norris, 50, of 2665 Cedar Springs Road, widow of David Norris, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002 at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of Ida Elizabeth Vaughn Young and the late Albert Young. She was a former textile employee.
Survivors include her mother of Williamston; two sisters, Janice Bridges of Williamston and Jo Patterson of Level Land; a brother, Henry Young of Iva; a stepsister, Linda Williams of Belton; and two nephews reared in the home, Dendale Young and Travis Posey.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Harris Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Johnnie Waller. Burial is in Long Cane Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.

ABBEVILLE — Services for Shirley Jean Murray Wardlaw, of 306 Cambridge St., are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. Isaac Booker III. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is this evening in the center at Hickory Heights Apartments.

Steve Wiley
ABBEVILLE — Stephen Franklin “Steve” Wiley, 41, of 1580 Highway 20, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002 at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Abbeville, he was a son of Carolyn Ethridge Wiley Duskin and the late John Franklin Wiley. He was an Air Force veteran and store manager at CVS. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church, Hodges.
Survivors include his mother of Abbeville; a sister, Patty W. Guy of Abbeville; his stepfather, Roy Duskin; and grandmother, Mrs. J.A. Ethridge of Abbeville.
Services are 3 p.m. Wednesday at Harris Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. James Long. Burial is in Long Cane Cemetery.
Pallbearers are George Guy, Dustin Jordan, Leslie Addy, Ryan Bruce, Chris Hollingsworth and Glen Lauminien.

James ‘Doc’ Wrenn
WATERLOO — James Harold “Doc” Wrenn, 76, of 523 Cannon Road, husband of Altha Pryor Wrenn, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002 at his home.
A native of Laurens County, he was a son of the late Joseph and Beatrice Weathers Wrenn. He retired from Greenwood Mills and was a member and deacon of Shade Tree Revival Church. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two brothers, Marvin Wrenn of Waterloo and Joseph Wrenn of Ware Shoals; and a sister, Frances Wrenn Nations of Waterloo.
Services are at 3 Wednesday at Shade Tree Revival Church, conducted by the Rev. Grady Lothridge Sr. Burial is in Reedy Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Pee Wee Wrenn, Issac Lothridge, Grady Lothridge Jr., Tim May, Terry Burdette, Glen Burdette, Carroll Strickland, Joey Hilley and David Hilley.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Parker-White Funeral Home.

Walter J. Bradley
AIKEN — Died Tuesday, October 8, 2002, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers after a long illness, Mr. Walter J. Bradley, 90, of 412 Landing Drive, Aiken.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, October 10, 2002 at Memorial Baptist Church. The Reverend Jim Kirk and Reverend Robbie Vance will officiate. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery.
Survivors include his beloved wife Jewelle Wright Redd Bradley; his stepson, (whom he loved as a son), Timothy W. Redd and daughter-in-law, Carol Hill Redd; a grandson, Timothy W. Redd, II; a granddaughter Hillary C. Redd, all of Aiken; a daughter, Joyce B. Suarez; grandsons David Suarez, Tampa, FL and Donald Suarez, Dalton, GA, and four great-grandchildren. Addition-al survivors include a "special" niece and nephew, Judy and Craig Sorenson, Tucson, AZ; and a number of other nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Walter J. Bradley Memorial Scholarship Fund, Aiken Partnership, c/o the University of South Carolina Aiken, 471 University Parkway, Aiken, SC 29801.

BOILING SPRINGS — Angela Rene Thompson Duncan, 39, of 520 Hemlock Drive, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002 at her home.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of Sandra Hollingsworth Reese. She graduated from Ninety Six High School and was employed by Bayer Chemical Co., Spartanburg. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Norman Reese, of Greenwood; two sons, Justin Strother of Boiling Springs and Chase Duncan of Greenwood; a brother, Anthony Thompson of Clarksville, Ark.; and a sister, Rhonda Kelley of Greenwood.
Services are 3 p.m. Thursday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Jeff Kelley. Burial is in Edgewood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Tim Terry, Jamie Reese, Rick Kelley, Mike Ridge, Morris Ridge, Dan Reese and Charles Buff.

Mindle Lamar “Pops” Elrod, 52, of 1007 Jefferson St., husband of Rene Tucker Elrod, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Clifford Wilson and Lessie Griffin Elrod. Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Tony Elrod of Hodges; two daughters, Leslie Elrod and Tina Elrod, both of the home; three stepsons, Joey Daniel Miller, Christopher Michael Miller and Justin Lee Miller, all of Ninety Six; three brothers, Clifford B. Elrod of Orange Park, Fla., George G. Elrod of Greenwood and William R. Elrod of Hodges; a sister, Carolyn Slay of Greenwood; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services are 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Harris Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. James Blackwell and Milton Stubblefield. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Abbeville.
