SIMPSONVILLE — Minnie Lee Reed Gossett, 81, of Vinewood Ct. in Simpsonville, wife of Charles A. Gossett died October 10, 2002 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Lee R. and Elizabeth Lloyd Reed. Mrs. Gossett was a home-maker, missionary teacher and a member of Simpsonville First Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband is one son: Steven Gossett of Greenwood. Mrs. Gossett was predeceased by one sister: Oma Morrow.
A memorial service will be conducted 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2002 at Simpsonville First Baptist Church with Rev. Ansel McGill and Rev. Steve Genoble officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2002 at the church.

Tillman Hanks
ABBEVILLE — Tillman Antney Hanks, 69, of 74 Pecan Road, husband of Sue Sorrow Hanks, died Thursday, October 10, 2002 at his home.
Born in Anderson County June 26, 1933 he was a son of the late Tom and Lida Burton Hanks. He attended the Abbeville Congregational Holiness Church and was a Veteran having served during the Korean conflict.
Surviving are his wife of the home; three daughters, Kerry Marquis of Douglasville, Georgia, Robin Brock of Abbeville and Selena Bridwell of Landrum; one brother, Frank Hanks of Iva; two sisters, Emma Anderson and Martha Anderson both of Iva; five grandchildren, Adam Brock, Erin Brock, Emma Marquis, Remy Marquis and Liv Bridwill and three step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Saturday from the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Ty Sorrow officiating. Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.
The body is at Harris Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 10-11 A.M.
Saturday. Memorials may be made to Hospice Of The Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Street, Greenwood, SC 29646 or to The Abbeville County Library Fund, 201 S. Main Street, Abbeville, SC 29620. The family is at the home.

Jimmy Morris
ABBEVILLE — Jimmy Ray Morris, 60, of 1261 McDill Road, husband of Bonnie Wiley Morris, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002 at the Augusta VA Hospital.
Born in Franklin County, Tenn., he was a son of the late Luther and Dona Morris Morris. He was an Army veteran and retired from Pirelli Cable Co. He attended Congregational Holiness Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Carlo Morris and Jesse Morris, both of the home and David Morris of Abbeville; a daughter, Vickie Morris of Abbeville; two brothers, John L. Morris of Abbeville and Bill T. Morris of Anderson; three sisters, Helen Bridges of Greenwood, Martha Morris and Polly McCord, both of Abbeville; and four grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Sunday at Congregational Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev. Tye Sorrow. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to The Congregational Holiness Church, 101 Perry St., Abbeville, SC 29620.

Joe Norryce Sr.
ABBEVILLE — Joe William Norryce Sr., 77, of 104 Henry St., widower of Frances LaBoon Norryce, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002 at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Howell Ansel and Lydia V. Shaw Norryce. He was a member of Abbeville First Baptist Church, a former member of Abbeville Lions Club and a World War II Army veteran, serving in the 79th Division, Anti-Tank Unit.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie N. Temple of Abbeville; three sons, Joe William “Billy” Norryce, Michael Francis Norryce and Larry M. Norryce, all of Abbeville; a brother, Howell Edwin Norryce McQuire of Greensboro, N.C.; a half brother, Claridge Norryce of Anderson; a half sister, Edna Neal Norryce Burton of Anderson; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Sunday at Harris Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Reiny Koschel. Burial is in Long Cane Cemetery.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.

Robert Lee Ruff
Services for Robert Lee Ruff are 2 p.m. Monday at Pine Pleasant Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Ernest Cannon, pastor. Assisting are the Revs. Willie N. Norman Jr., James Speed Sr., Derrick Scott, Frank Williams and Norris Turner. The body will be placed in the church at 1.
Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are church trustees, Daryl Scott, Willie Mayes, Cliff Scurry Sr. and Cliff Scurry Jr. Flower bearers are Sonya Anderson, Dedire Warren, Erica Drennon, Courtney Anderson, Tamiko Roundtree, Belinda T. Mims, Tyra B. Watson, Viola Smith and Christie Jones.
Visitation is 7-8 p.m. Sunday at Robinson & Son Mortuary.
The family is at the home, 720 Gage St.

Doris Unietis
CLEAR LAKE CITY, Texas — Doris Jackson Unietis, 73, wife of Frank Unietis, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002.
Born in Greenwood, S.C., she was a daughter of the late William and Lillian Gunnells Jackson. She had lived in Clear Lake City since 1972 and was an administrator in the aerospace industry.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Mary Beth Graves of Arlington and Katherine Kohn of Friendswood; two sons, John Unietis of Woodlands and David Unietis of San Francisco; a sister, Betty J. Simpson and a brother, Leon Jackson, both of Greenwood; and eight grandchildren.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. today at Hope Lutheran Church in Friendswood, Texas .

Nathaniel Adams
McCORMICK — Nathaniel “Nate” Adams, 46, of Holy Spring Road, husband of Nadine Gunter Adams, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002 at his home.
Born in McCormick, he was a son of the late Charles and Margaret Blair Adams. He was a 1975 graduate of McCormick High School and a retired employee of Savannah Lakes Village Public Works. He was a member of Zion Chapel A.M.E. Church where he served on the Trustee Board.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three children, Jamaeya and Jarrad Adams, both of the home and Christopher Morgan of McCormick; three sisters, Charlene and Marilyn Adams, both of McCormick and Brenda McDaniels of Maryland; four brothers, Claude, Floyd and Sonny Adams, all of McCormick and Eddie Lee Adams of Columbia.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Walker Funeral Home.

Cotis Curenton
Cotis Curenton, 54, of 612 C Tabor St., husband of Lavern Williams, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Albert and Mozelle Reid Curenton. He was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Shay and Cora Curenton, both of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Chelsea Williams of Greenwood; two brothers, Billy and Dwight Curenton, both of Greenville; two sisters, Mary Curenton and Rosa Lee Turner, both of Greenwood; and seven grandchildren, two reared in the home, Markeus Williams and Richardra Jackson.
The family is at the home and at the home of a sister, Mary Curenton, 105 A McKellar Court.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Thomas Newton Nickles M.D., of Montgomery, husband of Elizabeth Anne Nickles, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002 in Montgomery.

Jack RidleHoover
McCORMICK — Jack Oneil RidleHoover, 86, of 143 Forrest Drive, Modoc, husband of Georgianna M. RidleHoover, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002 at Belle Air Bluffs, Fla.
Born in Plum Branch, he was a son of the late Joseph and Addie Mae Sanders RidleHoover. He was a World War II Navy veteran, a Mason and a Shriner. He worked at Cape Canaveral Space Center for 36 years and was a retired employee of Bewdix Co. He was a member of Plum Branch Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Catherine Sigmund of Chester, Md.; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Plum Branch Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Darrel Engle and Bennie RidleHoover. Burial is in Plum Branch Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5-8 today at Strom Funeral Home.

Jimmy H. Campbell
WARE SHOALS — Jimmy H. Campbell, 56, of 65 Kaolin Drive, husband of Mary Lois Burbage Campbell, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002 at his home.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of Virginia Wells Campbell and the late Dewey Lindburgh Campbell. He was a brick mason and a member of Brewerton Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother of Ware Shoals; two daughters, Pam McCarson of Clinton, Lisa Wood of Greenville; a stepdaughter, Lesa Whitmire of Greenwood; a stepson, Rusty Gaffney of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Jan C. Davenport of Ware Shoals; two grandchildren and a step-grandchild.
Services are 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Curtis Wells, John Davenport, Lester Madden, Rick Pulley, Keith Burbage and Robert Madden.
Visitation is from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church.

COLUMBIA — Barbara Othalia Goff Dorn, 69, of 136 Lions Gate Drive, wife of David B. Dorn, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002 at Richland Memorial Hospital.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home, Greenwood.

Marian L. Strange
GREENVILLE — Marian Lucille Strange, 89, widow of William Ruble Strange, passed away quietly on Saturday, October 12, 2002, in the arms of a caregiver at Oakmont East Nursing Center in Greenville, S.C.
Mrs. Strange was born January 27, 1913 in Clinton, S.C., the oldest of the five children of the late Rufus and Mynia Sullivan. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Ruth Quinton and Bettye Snelgrove.
She is survived by four sons and their families: Bill and Sue Strange of Greenville, their daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Bill Stepler of Lawrenceville, GA, and their son and daughter-in-law Mike and Melody of Tallahassee, FL; Jim and Joyce Strange of Greenville, their son and daughter-in-law John and Vicki of Abbeville, SC, their son Tim of Tokamachi, Japan, and their son Bill and daughter Melanie of Greenville; Joe and Tena Strange of Norfolk, VA and their sons and daughters-in-law Joe and Sindy, and Jason and Leigh of Chesapeake, VA, and Ken and Corina of San Antonio, TX; and Terry and Betty Strange and their sons Joshua and Adam and daughter Townsend, all of Greenwood, SC; eleven great-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren-in-law, and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Jo Harris of Batesburg-Leesville, SC and brother and sister-in-law, Rufus and Doris Sullivan of Florence, SC; eleven nieces and nephews and their families; and good friends Nettie James, Jeanne Joyce, and Ruth Walrath.
Mrs. Strange grew up in a musical family, playing the guitar and singing with her father and sisters, and passed her love of music on to her children and grandchildren. During her married life, she lived in Clinton, Batesburg, and Greenwood, bringing up four boys while caring for her invalid husband, a former S.C. State Trooper. After her husband’s death, she learned how to drive a car, returned to school to earn a nurse’s aide certificate, and worked as an aide at The Methodist Home in Greenwood until she retired in 1978. She then moved to Greenville, living at Towers East on Main Street, where she enjoyed good times with her family and friends. She was thoughtful, kind, gracious, and a good sport, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel, with burial in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Visitation: 6:00-7:30 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2002, at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of a son, Bill Strange, at 307 Verner Drive, Greenville, SC.
The family will also be at the home of Terry and Betty Strange, at 500 Grace Street, Greenwood, SC from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Tuesday following the service.

Marian Strange
GREENVILLE — Burial services for Marian Lucille Strange are 1 p.m. today in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 today at the home of Terry and Betty Strange, 500 Grace St., Greenwood.

Nathaniel Adams
McCORMICK — Services for Nathaniel “Nate” Adams are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. Isaac Booker III, pastor. Assisting are Elder G.T. Devlin and the Revs. H.N. Louden, Beulah Reagins and George Shell. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are members of McCormick High School Class of 1975.
The family is at the home on Holy Spring Church Road.

Reginald T. Bland Jr.
Reginald Tyman Bland Jr., infant son of Conyetta “Boo” Spearman and Reginald T. Bland, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his parents of Greenwood; and a brother, Montavious Marquis Williams of Greenwood; paternal grandmother, Catherine Bland of Greenwood; and maternal grandmother, Josie Spearman of Greenwood.
