NORTH MYRTLE BEACH — Cleo Brewer Davenport, 91, of 1000 Perrin Drive, North Myrtle Beach, died Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Myrtle Beach.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Rev. R. M. and Arah Holder Brewer. She was retired from Abney Mills, Panola Plant, was a member of the Panola Community Club and Pine Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving is her daughter, Arah L. Davenport of the home; three grandchildren, Faye Y. Trotter and her husband, Donnie, of Greenwood, Ken L. Young and his wife, Jackie, of Yukon, OK and Connie M. Tullis and her friend, Travis Weeks, of North Myrtle Beach; a brother, the Rev. Floyd L.
Brewer of Laurens; a niece raised in the home, Dottie Whatley of Summerville; a brother-in-law, Curtis C. Maynard of Saluda; five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken Young, Mr. Chris Tullis and the Rev. Barry Butler officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Keith Trotter, John Tullis, James Butler, Carl Holder, Dan Wideman, Larry Scott, Bill Parrish and Tom Tyner.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 3 to 4 p.m.
The family is at the home of Maggie Wideman, 152 Orange Avenue, Greenwood and W. E. Weeks, 109 Appian Way, Greenwood.
Harley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Amy Davis Johnson
JAMAICA, N.Y. — Amy Davis Johnson, 85, widow of Benny Johnson Sr., died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002 in Jamaica.
Born in Abbeville County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late James “Jim” and Willie Johnson Davis.
Survivors include two sons, the Rev. William D. Johnson and James “Jimmy” Johnson, both of Jamaica; a sister, Orene Davis of Jamaica; two brothers, David Davis of Hodges, S.C., and Lewis T. “Ray” Davis of Hampton, Va.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services are 7 tonight at Shiloh Baptist Church, 106th Avenue, 177th St., Jamaica.
Viewing is 5-7 tonight at the church.

Arthur F. Luiz
WATERLOO — Arthur F. Luiz, 65, husband of Peggy Hughes Luiz, of 276 Loretta Lane, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002 at his home.
Born in Framingham, Mass., he was owner of 4 Seasons on Lake Greenwood and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Arthur Kerry Luiz of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Kevin Dean Luiz of Waterloo; and three grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Kennedy Mortuary, conducted by the Rev. J.B. Abercrombie.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at the mortuary.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, S.C. 29646.

Woodrow W. Madden
WARE SHOALS — Woodrow Workman Madden, 86, husband of Jessie Cooley Madden, of 31 S. Greenwood Ave., died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Glenn Leland and Rannie Lou Lollis Madden. He attended Tabernacle Baptist Church, Laurens, and retired from Riegel Textile Corp.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Steve Madden of Ware Shoals; six daughters, Shirley Shealy and Mavis Barger, both of Laurens, Dotsy Davis of Ware Shoals, Martha Lark and Libby Price, both of Greenwood and Judy McClain of Honea Path; four brothers, Joe Madden of Clinton, Horace Madden of Ware Shoals, the Rev. Truman Madden of Mauldin and David Madden of Spartanburg; two sisters, Christine Cothran and Ollie Wells of Ware Shoals; 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Friday at Parker-White Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Leon Jones and Ricky Knight. Burial is in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Paul Sampson, Chip French, Terry Cooley, Mark Strickland, David Norville, Blake Madden, Bobby Littlefield and Curtis Wells.
Visitation is 1:30-3 Friday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.

Ella Daniel
NINETY SIX — Ella E. Graham Daniel, of 403 Wilson Bridge Road, wife of Herman Daniel, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at Self Regional Healthcare.
Born in Ninety Six, she was a daughter of Elizabeth Butler Graham and the late Earl Solomon Graham. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and Women on the Move for Christ. She attended public schools in Ninety Six and Voorhees College.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Lynda Daniel Jefferson and Ola Daniel, both of Denmark; three sons, Herman Daniel Jr. of Greenwood, Merritt C. Daniel of Texas and Adrian Daniel of Ninety Six; a sister, Earlean G. Ball of Ninety Six; a brother, G.S. Graham of Ninety Six; and 11 grandchildren.
The family is at the home. Services will be announced by Daniel and Sons Funeral Home.

Ruby Johnson
HODGES — Ruby Wood Johnson, 86, former resident of 106 Wharton Avenue, widow of Charlie M. Johnson, died October 17, 2002 at Magnolia Manor.
Born in Spartanburg County, August 23, 2002, she was a daughter of the late Cleveland Benjamin and Lillie McAbee Wood and she was retired from Phillips Fiber, Inc. in Spartanburg.
A member of Harris Baptist Church, she was also a member of the TEL Sunday School Class of the church.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Carol Johnson of Hodges; a brother, Albert Wood of Spartanburg; a sister, Mildred W. Cooley of Landrum; two granddaughters, Kim Zazzaro of Crossville, TN and Kay Willingham of Hodges; four great-grandsons.
Funeral services will be conducted 2PM Saturday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Thomas officiating.
Burial will be in Green-wood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Elbert Bowers, David Ross, James Edward Burnett, Delone Robinson, John Bratcher and O’Neil Yeargin.
Honorary escort will be members of the TEL Sunday School Class of Harris Baptist Church.
The family is at the home of Ray and Carol Johnson, 110 College Drive in Hodges and will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 Saturday afternoon.
Memorials may be made to Harris Baptist Church Building Fund, 300 Center Street, Greenwood, SC 29649.

George H. Maurer
HILTON HEAD — George H. Maurer, 70, husband of Judy V. Knowles Maurer, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at the Hilton Head Medical Center and Clinics.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Robert Vincent and Julia Free Maurer. He served in the Army and the Air Force and was an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration for 36 years.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Eric F. Maurer of Cincinnati, Ohio; a daughter, Tracy E. Maurer of Los Angeles, Calif.; three brothers, Bill Maurer and Gwynne Maurer of Atlanta, Ga., George Robert of Cincinnati; and one grandchild.
Visitation is from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Riverbend Lodge, off of Route 170, near Okatie Center, Bluffton. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Audubon Society.
The Island Funeral Home and Crematory, Hilton Head, is in charge.

Maude N. Pearson
LAURENS — Maude Nix Pearson, 84, widow of Leon Pearson, of 1 Martha Franks Drive and formerly of 107 Blakely Avenue, died Wednesday, October 16, 2002 at Laurens County Hospital.
Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late J. Fred and Pearl Sprouse Nix, was retired owner and operator of Pearson’s Cleaners, and a very active member of Laurens First Baptist Church since 1940.
Surviving are two nieces, Doris C. Anderson and Carolyn C. McKee both of Spartanburg; two nephews, J.E. “Buddy” Nix, Jr. of Waterloo and Carroll Cook of Anderson. She was predeceased by two brothers, J.E. “Dick” Nix and Roy Jackson and a sister, Lucile Cook.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 19, 2002 at Cannon Memorial Park, Fountain Inn conducted by Dr. Bev T. Kennedy.
Pallbearers will be Mickey Sutton, Erik Anderson, Craig Anderson, Robert McKee and James Nix, III.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive at the cemetery following the graveside service.

Annie Scott
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Annie Lou Dye Scott, widow of Winston Scott, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002.
Born in McCormick, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Wiley and Rebecca Cade Dye.
Survivors include three daughters, Darlene Scott, Barbara Scott and Diane Scott, all of Washington , D.C.; two sons, Leon Scott of Washington , D.C., and Elton Scott of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Ernest Dye of Greenwood, S.C.; and two sisters, Naomi Cannady of McCormick, and Opal Kelly of Augusta, Ga.
Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Hodges and Edwards Funeral Home in Suitland, Md.

Services for Subrina Sprowl are at 2:30 Sunday at Mulberry A.M.E. Church in Abbeville, conducted by the Rev. Donald Brooks, assisted by the Revs. William Boozer, pastor and presiding, and Isaac Booker III. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Curt Sprowl, Lewis Napoleon, Larry Wright, George Christia, Reggie King and Daniel Morvey.
Honorary escorts are faculty and staff of Piedmont Tech and the Breezewood Club.
Flower bearers are nieces and friends of the family.
Visitation is from 7-8 Saturday at Robinson and Son Mortuary Inc.

Wallace D. Stutts
DUE WEST — Wallace Durand Stutts, 80, husband of Betty Jo Stutts, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at the Richard Michael Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson.
Born in Hillsboro, N.C., he was a son of Ellis L. and Mincie B. Stutts. He was retired from Standard Trucking Company of Charlotte, N.C., was a member of Kilgo United Methodist Church in Charlotte, Carolina Golf & Country Club, the American Legion, and a member of The Due West Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of Due West; three daughters, Sandra S. Verch of Clearwater, Fla., Barbara S. Bailey of Mobile, Ala., and Kay S. Suddreth of Charlotte; a sister, Doris S. Shouse of Charlotte; three brothers, Herman Stutts, Robert Stutts and Glenn Stutts, all of Charlotte; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at The Due West Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be immediately following the services in the church’s Fellowship Hall.
Memorials may be made to Kilgo United Methodist Church in Charlotte, N.C. or The Due West Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, Due West.

John Carroll
John Carroll, 77, of Brewer Boarding Home, died Friday, Oct. 18, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
He was a son of the late John and Mattie Garner Carroll. He was a member of Flint Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, John Carroll III of Columbia; three daughters, Martha Logan and Jean Carroll, both of Greenwood and Barbara Jackson of Abbeville; four sisters, Elizabeth Carroll and Mattie L. Lights, both of Greenwood, Margie Higgins of Ninety Six and Susan Scott of Syracuse, N.Y.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home of his niece, Madelyn Moss, 5016 Callison Hwy, Callison.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home.

Ella E. Daniel
