Catherine C. Curry
AUGUSTA — Catherine C. Curry, 76, widow of Charles Curry, formerly of McCormick, S.C., died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002 at Forrest Lake Health Care Inc.
Born and reared in McCormick, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Pearl Burton Wideman. She was of the Methodist faith.
She was the last survivor of her immediate family. Survivors include cousins.
Memorial services are 10 a.m. today at Forrest Lake Health Care Inc.
Butler & Sons Funeral Home, Saluda, S.C., is in charge.

David Franklin III
David Franklin III, 37, of 110 Pence Road, Country Homes, husband of Sherry Franklin, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Los Angeles, he was a son of Bobbi Cooper. He was an Army veteran and an employee of Goodrich Turbine Component Services. He was of the Jehovah Witness faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his mother of San Fernando Valley, Calif.; a son, Daris Johnson of the home; three daughters, Jasmine Johnson of the home, Anastasia Lenz of Germany and Surya Franklin of California; two brothers, Kenny Cooper and Quentin Cooper, both of California; and three sisters, Adrienne Franklin of San Diego, Serena Larry of San Fernando Valley and Jeanine Ora of California.
The family is at the home.

Walter ‘Yogi’ Latham
Walter Garnett “Yogi” Latham, 55, of 214 Phillips Circle, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greensboro, N.C., he was a son of Ottis Walter and Evelyn Dukes Latham. He retired as a welder from Fluor-Daniel Construction Co.
Survivors include his parents of Greenwood; two daughters, Carla Melinda “Mendy” Peterson of Greenville and Wendy Ann Latham Hughes of Gray Court; a sister, Robin M. Smith of Greenwood; a brother, Terry D. Latham of Greenwood; five grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Jason Boling. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Garnett Latham, Scott Latham, Randy Latham, Mike Latham, Jimmy Sprouse, Tony Stone, Ray Hembree and Kevin Hembree.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of Terry Latham, 104 Glencrest Court in The Willows.
Memorials may be made to Greenwood Baptist Church Building Fund, Deadfall Road, SC 29649.

Raymond C. Martin
WARE SHOALS — Raymond C. Martin, 83, husband of Onie Ridgeway Martin, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
A native of Laurens County, he was a son of the late Thomas L. and Mary Pruitt Martin. He retired from Riegel Textile Corp. and was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the VFW. A member of Mount Gallagher Baptist Church, he had served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Roger Dale Martin of Ware Shoals; two daughters, Vivian Millilo of Tullahoma, Tenn., and Audrey Nell Bell of Wake Field, R.I.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services are at 1 Thursday at Mount Gallagher Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop and the Rev. T.T. Faucette. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are David Dotter, Chris MacKinnon, Eric Bell, Todd Hartung, Bill Bell, Thomas Martin, Bobby Ridgeway, Bennett Medlin, Tommy O’Dell and James Martin.
Honorary escorts are deacons, former deacons and the Men’s Sunday School Class.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Parker-White Funeral Home.

Lacy and Reanna Conaway Stoudemire
SALUDA — Lacy Jade Conaway Stoudemire and Reanna Elizabeth Conaway Stoudemire, infant twin daughters of Lacy M. Conaway and Joseph D. Stoudemire Jr., died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Survivors include the parents; and grandparents, Donna and Scott Popplewell of Troy, Debra Stoudemire of Saluda, David Stoudemire of Lexington and John Matthews of Saluda.
Graveside services are 4 p.m. today in Travis Park Cemetery.

NINETY SIX — Services for David Williams, of 128 Ebony Drive, are 2 p.m. Thursday at Antioch Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. R.C. Oglesby. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are nephews.
Flower bearers are nieces.
Visitation is 7-8 tonight at Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home.

Thomas E. Cannady
HODGES — Thomas Edwin Cannady, 65, of 6106 Highway 25 N., husband of Mamie Leona Whitten Cannady, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Fountain Inn, he was a son of the late Willie Cannady and Annie Belle Spelts Knight. He retired from Greenwood Mills, Durst Plant and was a member of South Greenwood Church of God.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Gary Cannady of Clinton, Terry Cannady of Holly Hill, Fla., and Tommy Cannady of Laurens; two daughters, Cathy Simmons and Kim Wells, both of Laurens; a stepson, Jimmy Prince of Ware Shoals; three stepdaughters, Ann Parker of Hodges, Faye Ashley and Elaine Reece, both of Bluffton; two brothers, Bennie Cannady of Ridgeway and Cecil Knight of Gaffney; 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at South Greenwood Church of God, conducted by the Revs. Milton Hannah and Charles Caldwell. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Tommy Parker, Wayne Parker, Bill Salters, Josh Lowie, Richard Cannady and Tim Owens.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at Harley Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

Vela W. Gary
GREENWOOD — Vela Beatrice Windsor Gary, 89, formerly of 225 Virginia Avenue, widow of William Norman Gary, died Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Dekalb County, AL, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Amy Harstel Windsor. She had been a patient sitter and was a member of New Market Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two sons, John Frank Gary and William Travis “Bug” Gary.
Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Robert C. (Nese) Hagood of Greenwood; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Greenwood Memorial Gardens Chapel Mausoleum with the Rev. Joseph Ouzts officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Willie (Nese) Hagood, 1809 E. Durst Ave., Greenwood.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Upstate SC Chapter, 521 N. McDuffie Street, Anderson, SC 29621-5528.

Joe Marshall
BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Joseph “Joe” Marshall, 72, husband of Ollie Martin Marshall, of 1394 Troy Ave., died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002 at Kings County Hospital.
Born in Hodges, S.C., he was a son of the late Humphrey and Mammie Lee Patterson Marshall. He was a self-employed businessman and a Korean War veteran.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters, Pamela Jackson of Brooklyn and Joann and Terry Marshall of the home; a son, Bradley Marshall of Brooklyn; and two sisters, Mary Lee Fisher of Hodges and Louella Anderson of Greenwood, S.C.
Services are 10 a.m. Friday at House of Hills in Brooklyn, with burial in Cal Weston Cemetery, Long Island.

Corressa B. Morgan
Corressa Belle Watts Morgan, 89, of 706 Sweetwater Road, Lot 11, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002 at Edgefield County Hospital.
A native of Edgefield County, she retired as a teacher with Edgefield County schools and was a member of Old Mount Zion Baptist Church, Epworth.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Willie (Gwendolyn M.) Stevens of Edgefield; a niece reared in the home, Mrs. George (Glorietta W.) Jones of Greenwood; a stepdaughter, Eddie Ruth Hooper of North Augusta; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services are 1 p.m. Sunday at Old Mount Zion Baptist Church, Epworth.
Visitation is at the home and at the home of Gwendolyn Stevens, 159 Plum Branch Road, Edgefield.

Willis ‘Jake’ Paul
BALTIMORE — Willis Calvin “Jake” Paul, widower of Mattie Odessa Paul, died Oct. 12, 2002 in Baltimore.
Born in Abbeville, S.C., he was a son of the late Eugene and Bridie Hunter Paul. He was a former member of Flat Rock A.M.E. Church and a member of Shiloh C.C. Church in Baltimore.
Survivors include two sons, Travis and Timothy, both of Baltimore; three daughters, Dorothy, Patsy and Veyna, all of Baltimore; 12 brothers, Samuel and Alex Paul of Baltimore, Johnny R. Paul of Cleveland, Ohio, James, Ben, Louis and William Paul, all of Charlotte, N.C., Curtis, Ernest and Charles Paul, all of Anderson, S.C., Eddie Hamilton of Atlanta and Eddie Cunningham of Honea Path, S.C.; 10 sisters, Louise Williams, Annie Phillips, Bridie Clinkscales and Lillian Paul, all of Abbeville, Eula Bowen of Columbus, Ga., Jessie Patton of Ware Shoals, S.C., Eva Keys, Ruth Paul and Juanita Ware, all of Anderson and Pearl Paul of Cleveland; and 17 grandchildren.
Services were October 18 in Baltimore.

Billy Turner Jr.
ABBEVILLE — William “Billy” Francis Turner Jr., of the Whitten Center in Clinton, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002 at Laurens County Hospital.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of Betty Martin Turner and the late William Francis Turner Sr. He attended the Whitten Center Chapel.
Survivors include his mother of Abbeville; a grandmother, Floride Edwards Turner of McCormick; and two sisters, Patricia Davenport and Evelyn T. Horton, both of Abbeville.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at the Whitten Center Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Bob Thompson. Burial is 1:30 at Lebanon Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Abbeville.
Visitation is at the Whitten Center Chapel after the services.
The family is at the home of his mother, 103 Turner Lane.
Memorials may be made to Whitten Center, P.O. Box 239, Clinton, SC 29325.

Douglas Allen
NORTH AUGUSTA — James Douglas “Doug” Allen, 74, of Anne Maria Nursing Center, widower of Jesilyn Tompkins, died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002 at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late James D. and Eva Allen and attended Greenwood public schools.
Survivors include a daughter, Diedera Allen Hurdle of Tyner, N.C.; a sister, Faye A. Easley of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Frank Allen of Florida; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
No services are planned.

Elizabeth M. Beach
Mary Elizabeth Morse Beach, 78, of 309 Lowell St., widow of Thomas Melvin Beach, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
The family is at the homes of Mike and Ann Stewart, 114 Beech Run and Betty Moser, 402 Bond Ave.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home.
