Blanche Charles
WILMINGTON, DE — Blanche Gentry Charles, 81, resident of #3 Drummond Drive, wife of Thomas Lee Charles, died October 21, 2002 at her home.
Born in Saluda County, June 17, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Caroline Cook Gentry. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and retired as executive secretary for the YWCA in Newark, DE.
Formerly of Greenwood and North Myrtle Beach, she had made her home back in Wilmington since August 2002.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are a daughter, Sandra and husband, Joseph Sarjeant, with whom she made her home; a son, Kenneth and wife, Karen Charles of Wilmington, DE; three sisters, Edith G. Bell and Mary G. Cheek, both of Greenwood and Helen G. Bryan of Edgefield; grandchildren, Elizabeth Salter, Margaret Salter and Heather and husband, Matthew Kirk.
Graveside services will be conducted 2PM Sunday in Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Dr. John Wall officiating.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 Sunday afternoon.
Memorials may be made to The American Parkinson’s Disease Association, 60 Bay Street, Staten Island, NY 10301 or to the charity of one’s choice.

Robert Lee Coleman
SALUDA — Robert Lee Coleman, 72, of 115 East End Drive, widower of Johnnie Mae Coleman, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002 at Palmetto Baptist Hospital in Columbia.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Padgett and Sallie Mae Gaines Coleman. He retired from Milliken & Co. of Saluda and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Robert P. Coleman of the home; a daughter, Dora C. Hill of Lexington; two brothers, Fred Coleman and Thomas Coleman, both of Washington , D.C.; three sisters, Georgia Mae Bryant of Elyria, Ohio, Essie Lee Bush of Washington , D.C., and Emma Bouknight of Saluda; and seven grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Saturday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Clarence Kenner. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are friends of the family.
The family is at the home.

James A. Edmunds
WASHINGTON, D.C. — James Andrew “Jim” Edmunds, 92, of 4735 13th St. N.W., husband of Leonia Taggart Edmunds, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002 at a Washington , D.C. Medical Center.
Born in Calhoun Falls, S.C., he was a son of the late Andrew and Fannie Lee Edmunds. He a Mason and was of the African Methodist Episcopal faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a brother, David L. Edmunds of Calhoun Falls; two sisters, Ruth Marshall of Washington , D.C., and Fannie Wooden of Harvey, Ill.
Services are Saturday in Washington , D.C.
The family is at the home.

Evelyn G. Logan
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Evelyn Gray Logan, 81, formerly of Cumberland County, Ky., died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002 at Kindred Hospital in Louisville.
She was a member of South End Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Roberta Bowling and Martha Little; two sons, Ralph S. Logan of Greenwood, S.C., and Gene P. Logan; five sisters, DorthaGarmon, Edna Wolfe, Jenny Guthrie, Jane Baldwin and Jennifer Gray; four brothers, Charles Gray, W.L. Gray, Dudley Gray and Junior Gray; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services are 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Arch L. Heady & Son, with burial in the French Family Cemetery, Burkesville.
Visitation is 3-8 today at the funeral home.

Georgia Thomason
ABBEVILLE — Georgia Elizabeth McDowell Thomason, 78, of 70 Briarwood Circle, widow of Joseph B. Thomason Sr., died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002 at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Sam Orr and Ella Eason McDowell. She was a homemaker and a member of Abbeville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph B. Thomason Jr. of Abbeville and James Michael Thomason of Anderson; a sister, Sarah Louise Thomason of Atlanta; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Harris Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. James Blackwell. Burial is in Long Cane Cemetery.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of a grandson and his wife, Kenneth Jay and Tara Thomason, 68 Briarwood Circle.

Leslie M. Ashmore
Leslie Marie Morrison Ashmore, 57, of 210 Utopia Acres, wife of Grady Ashmore, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Lincoln County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Minnie Lee Booth and J. B. Morrison. She attended the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection.
Survivors include her husband; two brothers, Ronnie Morrison of Elberton, Ga. and Leon Morrison of Hepzibah, Ga.
Memorial services are 3 p.m. today at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, conducted by the Rev. Peter Hawes.
The family is at the home of her niece, Phyllis Laughlin 110 Stone Oak Lane.

Barbara M. Bishop
COLUMBIA — Barbara Malinda Munday Bishop, 86, of 4610 Bethel Church Road, wife of the Rev. L. E. Bishop, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 at her home.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Margaret Jane and Andy Harrison Munday. She was a graduate of Abbeville High School, a former employee of Riegel Textiles, Ware Shoals and a seamstress with Wharton’s and the Vogue. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Ware Shoals, where she was a circle leader and a member of West Side Baptist Church, Greenwood, where she was a children’s Sunday School teacher for 38 years.
Survivors include her husband of the home; four daughters, Malinda Chalmers of Laurens, Sara Lee Moore of Muscle Shoals, Ala., Mary Ellen Phipps of Harlingen, Texas and Jane Nevitt of Columbia; a son, James Bishop of Easley; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services are 2:30 Monday at West Side Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Hal Lane and Brian Phipps. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Chris Chalmers, Michael Chalmers, Stan Witters, Gregory Moore, Alan Mitchell, Marcus Phipps, Jay Bishop, John Sturgeon and Lee Nevitt.
Honorary escorts are current and past deacons of West Side Baptist Church.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight and 1:30-2:30 Monday at West Side Baptist Church.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Malinda Chalmers 203 W. Farley Ave., Laurens.

WARE SHOALS — Annie Maude Coleman Gosnell, 91, widow of Valley Lewis Gosnell, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 at Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington , Ga.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Alton and Sally Mae Blackwell Coleman. She was a retired employee of Tavern Sportswear and a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Lewis Gosnell of Washington , Ga.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Dan Compton.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Parker-White Funeral Home.

Cora L. Pendleton
DONALDS — Cora Lee Williams Pendleton, 76, of 817 Dodson Road, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002 at her home.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of Austin Robinson and the late Marie Elizabeth Robinson. She was a retired beautician. She was a member of Mount Olive A.M.E. Church, Donalds, where she served as Steward Emeritus, church secretary and treasurer. She was also a member of the church Missionary Society and Outreach Ministries.
Survivors include her father of Donalds; a son, Melvin (Elvia) Odell Pendleton of Donalds; a daughter, Mrs. Amos (Joyce) Cunningham of Levellan; two sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Genevieve) Garrison of Greenville and Mrs. (Edward) Johnnie Klugh of Hodges; a brother, the Rev. James Robinson Jr. of Donalds; and four grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Mount Olive A.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. John Aikens. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Burial is in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family is at the home.

Al Reid
Martin R. “Al” Reid, 82, resident of 116 Heritage West Court, husband of Mary “C” Strom Reid, died October 25, 2002 at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson.
Born in Newberry County, February 1, 1920, he was a son of the late Grady Reid and Sunnie Cameron Reid Maynard. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and attended Clemson College and the University of Georgia. He was a US Navy Veteran of WW II.
Mr. Reid formerly owned Ramar Laboratories and was co-owner of the first Huddle House in Greenwood. He served on the Pin Placement Committee at Augusta National Golf Club for 37 years. He was a professional boxer and was inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame.
A member of the First Baptist Church and the Baracca Sunday School Class of the church, he was also a Mason and a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are two daughters, Gwen R. Brownlee and husband (Col. ret.) William Ray Brownlee of Hilton Head Island, Ann R. Long and husband Ted Long of Greenwood. Two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Bebe) Norris of California and Lee R. Hipp of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. Two brothers, Sam Reid of Texarkana, Ark. and Fred Reid of Ft. Worth, TX. Grandchildren, William Ray Brownlee, III, Martin Townes and wife Leslie Brownlee, Haven and husband David Hart, Jeffry Reid Long and Todd Reid Dyer. Great grandchildren, John David Hart, Jr., Anna Kay Hart and Mary Ellison Hart.
Mr. Reid was predeceased by a son, Bill Martin Reid and two brothers, Joe Reid and Harold Reid.
Graveside services will be conducted 4PM Sunday in Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Dr. J. William Harris and Dr. Tony Hopkins officiating.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home.
The family is at the home, 116 Heritage West Court and will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service.

Tony Seppe
Anthony “Tony” Seppe, 77, formerly of Yonkers and Ossining, N.Y., widower of Phyllis R. Dellanno Seppe, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002 at the home of a sister, Mrs. Michael (Ann) Rotella.
Born in Phoenixville, Pa., he was a son of the late Anthony and Bella Gera Seppe. He was a World War II Army veteran, where he served in the Pacific Theater. He attended Saunders High School, Yonkers, was the owner of a taxi company in Yonkers and a chauffeur for the Chairman of the Board of the former AMF Company, White Plains, N.Y.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Peter (Belle) Garafola of Bethel, Conn., Mrs. Robert (Ro) Oswain of Wappingers Falls, N.Y. and Phyllis Seppe of Hartsdale, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Michael (Ann) Rotella of Greenwood and Mary Salzano of Cranford, N.J.; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services are 11 a.m. Monday at the Chapel of Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale.
Memorials may be made to HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, S.C. 29646.

Lucille Wallace
MOORE, SC — Lucille Crenshaw Wallace, 81 of 422 Circlestone, formerly of Abbeville and Easley, widow of Frank Cross Wallace, Jr., died October 24, 2002 at her home.
Born in Elberton, Georgia December 2, 1920, she was a daughter of the late James Hoyt and Mamie Martin Crenshaw. Mrs. Wallace was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Easley and was formerly a member for over 40 years of Abbeville First Baptist Church, Abbeville, SC. She was retired from Celanese Corporation.
Surviving are two daughters; Dorothy Van Horne and her husband Charles of Bucksport, Maine and Anita Thomason and her husband Clint of Anderson, SC, one son; James F. Wallace and his wife Ivonne of Moore, SC, three grandchildren; Frank Cross Wallace III of Moore, Jason Watson and his wife Julie of Piedmont, SC and Meranda Wofford and her husband Bobby of Woodruff, SC.
Funeral services will be 12 noon Tuesday, October 29, 2002 from the Chapel of Harris Funeral Home in Abbeville, SC with the Rev. Reiny Kochel officiating. Private burial will be in Long Cane Cemetery, Abbeville. Memorials may be made to The Alzheimers Association or The Humane Society.
The body is at Harris Funeral Home of Abbeville where the family will receive friends from 11 A.M. till 12 noon Tuesday. The family is at their respective homes.
