ABBEVILLE — Robert Frank Bowie, 75, of No. 9 Bowie Trailer Park, widower of Marie Gunter Bowie, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002 at his home.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Joseph B. and Addie Bonds Bowie. He was a World War II Army veteran, an iron worker and a retired employee of Local 387, Atlanta with over 30 years of service.
Survivors include a sister, Frances Gunter of Abbeville; and a brother, Joey Finley of Athens, Ga.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home. Burial is in Melrose Cemetery.
Visitation is from 12:30-1:30 Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of his sister, 455 Highway 20.

Robert D. Getsinger
ANDERSON — Robert Donald “Bobby” Getsinger, 72, of Anderson, died Sunday, October 27, 2002 at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born July 27, 1930, in Anderson, he was the son of the late Jessie Robert Getsinger and Caroleen Bevill Bonds. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and was a former member of the Civil Air Patrol, was an electronic engineer, and was retired from Anderson Armored Car Service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Knight Getsinger of the home, two daughters, Millicent Getsinger Smith and her husband, Kenneth Smith of Charlotte, NC, and Phyllis Getsinger Davis and her husband, Dr. Ronald Andrew Davis of Columbia; one grandson, Ronald Andrew Davis, II of Columbia.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church by Father David Hyman. Burial will be in New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel. The family is at the residence.

Jesse Kilpatrick
Jesse Lawrence Kilpatrick, 22, of 1917 Mt. Moriah Road, husband of Kathy Clary Kilpatrick, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Blyth Funeral Home.

Billy Stevenson
ABBEVILLE, SC — William A. (Billy) Stevenson, 69 of 584 Highway 28 North died Sunday at his home. He was born in Abbeville, S.C. and was a son of the late James T. and Annie Bell Little Stevenson.
Mr. Stevenson was a retired clerk of the United States Postal Service, a veteran of the Korean War, and an active member and elder of the Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church.
Surviving is his wife, Judy S. Stevenson of the home, a son, William Scott Stevenson of Greenwood, S.C.; a special person and next-door neighbor who was like a brother, Franklin E. Lewis; one brother, William Oscar Stevenson of Abbeville, S.C.; three sisters, Mary S. Cape of Abbeville, Betty S. Hilburn of Greenville, S.C. and Becky S. Steifle of Greenwood, S.C. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret S. Ashley and a brother, James T. (Jimmy) Stevenson, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Tuesday at the Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church with burial in Long Cane Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11 A.M. Tuesday at the church. Pallbearers are Johnny McClain, Mike Hedden, Richard Lauer, Johnny Powell, Wayne Powell and Lowry Young. Honorary escorts are Calvin Haynes, Reggie Griffin, R.A. Hagen, Gene Cape and Otis Spires.
Memorials may be made to Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church, 194 Highway 20, Abbeville, S.C. 29620 or to HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, S.C. 29646.

John Lee Bush
REGISTER, Ga. — John Lee Bush, 84, husband of Louise Tillman Bush, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2002 at the Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.
Born in Saluda County, S.C., he was a son of the late Jim and Leona Minick Bush. He was a former member of New Salem C.M.E. Church and a retired custodian with Howard University, Washington , D.C.
Survivors include his wife of Register; two sons, Joe Ben Bush of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Jimmy Lee Bush of Montclair, N.J.; two daughters, Johnnie Mae Holmes of Batesburg, S.C., and Clarissa Ada Bush of Register; three sisters, Clarissa McClure and Evelyn Burton, both of Charlotte, N.C., and Mrs. Curtis (Luella) Gantt of Saluda; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services are noon Thursday at New Salem C.M.E. Church, Saluda, conducted by the Rev. Doris Hicks. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are friends of the family.
The family is at the home of his sister Mrs. Curtis (Luella) Gantt, 100 Maple St., Saluda.

NINETY SIX — Paul Cavender, 77, of 203 Spring St., husband of Sharlene Mollenkop Cavender, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002 at Wesley Commons Health Care Center.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Harley Funeral Home.

Jesse Kilpatrick
Jesse Lawrence Kilpatrick, 22, of 1917 Mount Moriah Road, husband of Kathy Clary Kilpatrick, died Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002.
Born in Brevard, N.C., he was a son of John Michael and Brenda Clayton Kilpatrick. He was a 1998 graduate of Brevard High School, where he was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He was an employee of Greenwood County in the Road Department and a volunteer for Hodges-Cokesbury Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife of the home; his parents of Greenwood; maternal grandparents, Joe and Geraldine Summey, and Herbert and Doris Clayton, all of Brevard; paternal grandmother, Edna Kilpatrick of Brevard; three sisters, Jessica K. Stanley of Hodges, Megan Kilpatrick and Brittany Kilpatrick, both of Greenwood.
Services are at 3 Wednesday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Joe Chapman. Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery, Ninety Six.
Pallbearers are Chad Nodine, Keith Clayton, Paul Kilpatrick, Todd Kilpatrick, Bennie Cockrell Jr., Jeff Griffin, Matt Riddle and Nathan Lance.
Honorary escorts are members of the Hodges-Cokesbury Volunteer Fire Department and Greenwood County Road Maintenance Department.
Visitation is 2-3 Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.

Leila Gay Human
BOWMAN, GA. — Mrs. Leila Gay Parham Human, 98, of 879 Human Road, Bowman, Georgia died Sunday, October 27, 2002.
Mrs. Human was born in Madison County, Georgia, November 22, 1903, daughter of the late William Monroe and Mary Jane Powell Parham. Mrs. Human was a homemaker and the oldest member of Mill Shoal Baptist Church. Her husband was the late Johnie M. Human.
Survivors include her sons Arnold Human of Greenwood and Seaborn Human of the home; three daughters, Jane Hall of Elberton, Georgia, Carol Brown of Vanna, Georgia and Shirley Pearson of Royston, Georgia; two sisters Odie Lee Bryant and Nellie Sue King of Royston; 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sons, William (Bill) Human, Sr. and Leroy Human; grandson, Russell Brown and brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Mrs. Human will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Smith and Rev. Cecil Loftis officiating. Burial will follow in the Mill Shoal Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The body is at Pruitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening. The family is at the home of Jimmy and Carol Brown, 2079 Highway 17 South, Vanna, Georgia. Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to the Charity of one's choice.

Louise H. Rogers
SPARTANBURG — Louise Hollingsworth Rogers, 69, of Spartanburg, died Monday, October 28, 2002, at RoseCrest Retirement Center. A native of Cross Hill, SC, she was the daughter of the late James T. and Mary Griffin Hollingsworth. She was retired from the Social Security Administration and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. A graduate of Clinton High School and Columbia College, she was a volunteer at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Mary Black Memorial Hospital, Mobile Meals Service, and Total Ministries.
Survivors include a brother, Robert T. Hollingsworth and his wife Carolyn H. Hollingsworth of Cross Hill, SC; a sister, Mrs. John L. (Gladys H.) Adair of Cross Hill, SC; a step-sister, Ann M. Verenes of Aiken, SC; a brother-in-law, Willard L. Lawrimore of Hemingway, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Jocelyn H. Lawrimore.
Visitation will be 9:45-10:45 a.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2002, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Dr. Paul M. Petersen and the Rev. Charles H. Horne. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in Liberty Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Cross Hill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liberty Springs Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 165, Cross Hill, SC 29332.

Thelma Sadler
COLUMBIA — Thelma Robertson Sadler, 83, resident of 244 Lyndhurst Road in Columbia, widow of Murray A. Sadler, died October 27, 2002 at Brian Center of St. Andrews in Columbia after a brief illness.
Born in Greenwood County, January 1, 1919, she was a daughter of the late James Wilson and Marie Gatlin Robertson Camp. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and Cecil's Business College, Greenville, SC. Mrs. Sadler was an avid gardener, basket weaver and had won many ribbons for her needlework.
She was a former resident of 121 Nickles Street in Donalds where she had made her home for 35 years.
A member of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, she was also a member of St. Ann's Chapter of the church and the Donald’s Historical Society.
She was the loving mother of her daughter, Nancy Marie Shaw and her husband, Mickey Shaw, with whom she made her home; her granddaughters, Cecilia Shaw Sandel and her husband, Ken Sandel of Easley and Lisa Shaw Trotter and her husband Mitch Trotter of Lexington; six great-grandchildren, Janna, Jacob and Laura Sandel and Jessie Avera, Whitney and Luke Trotter, all of whom spent many memorable hours together.
Mrs. Sadler was twice married, first to the late Gartrell E. McLean.
Funeral services will be conducted 3PM Wednesday at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection with Father Peter Hawes officiating.
Burial will be in the Hodges Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be men of the Vestry of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection.
Honorary escort will be Dr. Mark Robirds and Dr. Carcy Hite of Columbia.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 in Bishop's Hall of the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection Wednesday afternoon.

Paul Cavender
NINETY SIX — Paul Cavender, 77, of 203 Spring St., husband of Sharlene Mollenkop Cavender, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002 at Wesley Commons Health Care Center.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Reid and Hattie Harkins Cavender. He attended Presbyterian College and retired from Monsanto. A Navy World War II veteran, he attended Temple Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three sons, Roddy L. Cavender of Ninety Six, Paul R. “Yogi” Cavender Jr. of Waterloo and Tommy L. Cavender of Johnston; three daughters, Robin Cavender McInville of Abbeville, Rebecca Cavender Page of Greenwood and Rejeana Cavender Whitfield of Gilbert; seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Charles Owens. Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Mike Kernell, Shawn Kernell, Rock Goldman, James Adair, Clarence Boone and Gene Quarles.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to the Christian McInville Fund at All God’s Children, c/o North Side Baptist Church, 409 W. Northside Drive, Greenwood, SC 29649.

Michelle Ford
NINETY SIX — Michelle Gary Ford, 38, of 43 Edgewood Circle, formerly of Abbeville, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of John Gary Jr. and Brenda Weeks Gary.
Survivors include her parents of Abbeville; her husband, Brian Ford of Abbeville; a son, Michael Ford of the home; a daughter, Jessica Ford of the home; two brothers, Michael Dobbins of Derwood, Md., and Shane Gary of Abbeville; and a sister, Rhonda Harrison of Abbeville.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Harris Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Ed Hawkins. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Abbeville.
Visitation is 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of her parents, 337 Sherard Circle, Abbeville.

Willie Harris
McCORMICK — Willie Harris, 83, widower of Fannie B. Harris, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002 at Elbert Memorial Hospital, Elberton, Ga.
Born in McCormick, he was a son of the late Willie Harris Sr. and Mary Norman Harris. He was a retired textile employee and a World War II Army veteran. He attended Little Mill Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, James Harris, Russell Harris and Rudolph Harris, all of Willington Community in McCormick; three daughters, Mary H. Boyd, Jeanette H. Gibson and Floree Bebee, all of Atlanta; two sisters, Minnie Evans of Washington , Ga., and Ondrey Drayton of McCormick; a brother, Burnis Harris of McCormick; and several grandchildren.
Graveside services are 1 p.m. Thursday in Little Mill Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Revs. L.V. Turman and Paul Saunders.
Pallbearers are John Drayton, Melvin Drayton, Johnnie Brown, Edward Rollinson, Thomas Callaham and Kenneth Brown.
The family is at the home of his son James Harris, Willington Community.
