CHARLESTON — Services for Rev. Alonzo William Holman will be held at 10 a.m. Monday (body in church at 9 a.m.) at Emanuel AME Church with entombment in Live Oak Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is 7-8 p.m. Sunday at the church. Fielding Home for Funerals is in charge. He died November 10, 2004 Surviving are wife, Gerald E. Holman; sister, Mary Tarver.

Ira Collum

BATESBURG — Ira Collum, 83, of Batesburg, died Friday, November 12, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2004, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Ridge Crest Memorial Park with Rev. Mark Smith and Rev. Garth Hill officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason Allen, Jon Allen, Jack Hall, Tony Hall, Nathan Shealy and Terry Shealy.

Mr. Collum was born in Leesville to Grover Cleveland and Annie Shealy Collum. He was a member of Union Lutheran Church. Member of Woodmen of the World. He was a veteran of World War II of Army Air Corps. His heart is with his daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Surviving are his wife, Connie “Dot” Shealy Collum of Pendleton; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Michael Allen of Pendleton; grandchildren, Jason Allen and wife, Paula; Jon Allen and wife, Adrienne; 1 grandson, Justin Michael Allen, all of Pendleton.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Chapel.

Memorials can be made to: Union Lutheran Church, 4077 Hwy. 378, Leesville, SC 29070 and The American Lung Association c/o Pulmonary Fibrosis Research, 1817 Gadsden Street, Columbia, SC 29201.

Mildred Cousins

NEWBERRY — Services for Mildred Metts Cousins will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at McSwain-Evans Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Summer Memorial Lutheran Church, PO Box 131, Newberry, SC 29108 or to Palmetto Health Hospice, PO Box 352, Newberry, SC 29108.

Mrs. Cousins, 79, widow of Frank N. Cousins, died November 11, 2004. Born in Little Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Geneva Metts Farler. She was retired after 48 years from AF&F and was a member of Summer Memorial Lutheran Church where she was a member of the WELCA.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie E. and Gwen Kyzer of Newberry; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah K. and Chuck Hall of Newberry; a sister, Elise Mayer of Little Mountain; granddaughters, Stephanie Fulmer and Rhonda Moore; great-grandchildren, Corbyn Ellise Fulmer, Kyzer Christian Fulmer, Josie Elaine Moore, and Ezekial Thomas Moore; five step-grandchildren and a number of step-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cousins was predeceased by a sister, Lizzie Graddick.

Bossy Dinkins

COLUMBIA — Funeral service for Oscar James “Bossy” Dinkins, 70 will be held at one o’clock this (Saturday) afternoon, November 13, 2004 at the graveside in Memorial Gardens of Columbia. The Reverend Otis Lee will officiate. The visitation was held from six until eight o’clock Friday evening in Shives Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Carolina Children’s Home, 3201 Trenholm Road, Columbia, SC 29204. Serving as pallbearers will be David Adams, Rick Brendle, Randy Dinkins, Mike Young, Berry Sloan, Danny Mew, Danny Gunter, and Jack Hurst.

Mr. Dinkins died Wednesday, November 10, 2004. Born in Northeast Richland County, he was a son of the late Lester Dobois Dinkins and Janie Hornsby Dinkins. Mr. Dinkins owned and operated Dinkins Roofing.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Nita Dinkins, Mike and Darlene Dinkins of Elgin and PFC Dustin and Chrystal Dinkins of Ft. Gordon, GA; his daughter, Jenny Weaver of Gaston; grandchildren, Chris, Elizabeth, Amanda, Jonathan, and Summer Dinkins, Joyce and Christopher Weaver; brother, Randolph Dinkins; sister, Myrtis Lee, both of Columbia; special friend, Terri McDonald. Mr. Dinkins was preceded in death by siblings, Tom, Paul “Dick,” Tallmadge Dinkins, and Mildred Lee; also, a brother-in-spirit, Bill Coker.

Leo Fleischmann

COLUMBIA — Louiepold “Leo” Harris Fleischmann passed away on Friday, November 12, 2004 after a short illness. He was born on September 10, 1917 in Fifield, WI. He was the son of Austria-Hungary immigrants Charles Fleischmann and Thecla Walner.

As a young adult, he moved to California where he began his career in the aircraft industry. In 1939, he became General Foreman for Douglas Aircraft and was transferred to Oklahoma City, OK. There he met Billie Miller and they wed in 1944. In the 1950’s, he worked for Aero Commander in Oklahoma City. In 1964, he became Chief Inspector with the FAA and was certified airworthiness for all types of aircraft. During his 23 years of service with the FAA, he was transferred to Ann Arbor, MI, Atlanta, GA and Mobile, Al, where he retired in 1987. After the death of his wife in 1997, Leo moved to Wildewood Downs in Columbia, SC to be near his youngest daughter, Barbara and his granddaughter, Melissa.

In 1950, Leo became a 32nd degree Mason in Oklahoma City. His hobbies included woodwork and playing bridge. He was an avid reader and particularly enjoyed history and poetry. Football was his favorite sport and he was a long time fan of the Oklahoma “Sooners.”

He is survived by his daughters, Billie Lee Nees of Edmond, OK, Barbara Barton and her husband, Stribling Smith Barton of Columbia; and his granddaughter, Melissa Posner of Columbia. He was predeceased in death by his wife of 53 years, Billie Miller Fleischmann, and by his seven brothers and three sisters.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. His final resting place will be next to his wife in Dougherty, OK, located in the Arbuckle Mountains.

Jim Kyzer

COLUMBIA — James F. “Jim” Kyzer of Columbia died Thursday, November 11, 2004 at his residence.

Mr. Kyzer was born in Newberry County, the son of the late Furman G. and Evelyn Dominick Kyzer. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a retired employee of Springs Industries and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Kyzer is survived by his wife, Julia Pugh Kyzer of Columbia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tanya K. and Brian D. Williams of Inman and Trina K. and Larry C. Poston, Jr. of Columbia; four grandchildren, Zachary, Andrew, Matthew, and Daniel Poston.

Memorial services for James F. “Jim” Kyzer will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Westminster Presbyterian Church by the Rev. George Head and the Rev. Pat Griffin. The family will receive friends following the services in the Gathering Room at the church. At the request of the family, entombment services will be private.

Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church Music Fund, 1700 Broad River Road, Columbia SC 29210.

Brian Weed

FRUITLAND PARK, Fla. — Brian Errich Weed, 67, died November 11, 2004. Born in Columbia, S.C., he had been a foreman for telephone construction and owned/operated Housedoctors Exterior Cleaning the last few years of his life. He was a Presbyterian. Surviving: wife, Gaile Weed; daughters, Sherry Bailey and Elizabeth Johnson; stepmother, Martha Weed of Columbia; six grandchildren.

Essie State

LAKE CITY — Services for Essie Mae State, 75, widow of Sam State, 2 p.m. today at Green’s Funeral Home with burial in Goodwill Baptist Church Cemetery, Cades. Born in Clarendon Co. to Cecil Smith and Rilla Brooks, she died Nov. 7, 2004. Surviving are children, Fannie Singletary, Dilcey, Elbert, Sam Jr. State; brothers, Henry, John, Bubba Smith; grandchildren; great, great-great-grands; nieces; nephews.

Joshua Scott

WEST COLUMBIA — Services for Joshua Clint Scott, 24, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Redemption Church. Jones Metropolitan Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Richland Co. to Cecil Martin and Patricia McCuthen, he died Nov. 11, 2004. Surviving: wife, Amber Scott; daughter, Tara Scott; stepmother, Nancy Martin; siblings, Celia, Christopher Martin; grandparents, Dolly Keisler, Virginia Martin.

Floyd O’Tuel Sr.

BENNETTSVILLE — Floyd Eldred O’Tuel, Sr., age 77, of Bennettsville, died Thursday, November 11, 2004.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 14, 2004, at the Antioch Methodist Church in Bennettsville with burial following in the Brigman Family Cemetery.

Mr. O’Tuel was born December 27, 1926, in Marlboro County, son of the late Howard S. and Evelina L. O’Tuel. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a retiree from Delta Mills and a member of Antioch Methodist Church.

He is survived by a son, Floyd E. “Buster” O’Tuel, Jr. of Bennettsville; daughters, Dianne O. McKay and of Gibson, NC, and Rhonda O. Stephens of Greenville, AL; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Jennifer Edward.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 13th at Richard Boles Funeral Service in Laurinburg, NC.

Memorials may be made to Antioch Methodist Church, 588 Antioch Church Road, Bennettsville, SC 29512.

Billy Brayboy

LEXINGTON — A graveside service for Billy Elton Brayboy, 48, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Southland Memorial Gardens. Visitation is tonight at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Born in Columbia to Elton F. Brayboy and Betty Y. Abbott Brayboy Bond, he died Nov. 12, 2004. Surviving are daughters, Casey Brayboy, Katlin Brayboy; siblings, Susan King, Terry Bond, Robert Bond.

Hazel Cook

AIKEN — Funeral Services for Hazel Allen Cook will be held Monday at 1pm at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Ridge Spring. Visitation will be this evening from 6-8pm at George Funeral Homes 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken.

Mrs. Cook, 72, of Aiken, died Friday November 12, 2004 at her residence. Local survivors include a sister, Sue (Don) Smith, Lexington, SC.

Jean Almeter Ebenhack
February 23, 1922 - March 05, 2005
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Jean Almeter Ebenhack will be celebrated Wednesday, March 9th 2005 at 11:00am at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be this evening, from 6-8pm at George Funeral Homes Historic Downtown Chapel 211 Park Ave. SW Aiken,

Mrs. Ebenhack, 83, of Aiken, died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at her residence. Born in Kenmore, NY, she was the daughter of the late Carl & Hazel (Adams) Almeter.

She spent most of her life as a devoted wife and mother, but did work for the Army Corps of Engineers as the secretary to Commanding General Mathias on the “Manhattan Project”. She was a volunteer Docent for the Aiken County Historical Museum and used to volunteer at Aiken Elementary School, helping children learn to read. Jean was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christian’s Church and had been responsible for caring for the Altar Cloths for over 37 years. She was also a member of the Wildwood Garden Club and the Academy of Lifelong Learning at USC-Aiken.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Don G. Ebenhack, Aiken, two sons; David (Rebecca) Ebenhack, Raleigh, NC and Peter (Julie) Ebenhack, Westminster, SC, a daughter; Ellen (Robert) Miller, Aiken, a sister; Eleanor Almy, Denver, CO and seven grandchildren; Eben, Zeke, Travis, Meredith, Sarah, Johnathon and Vivian.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Aiken County Historical Museum 433 Newberry St. SW, Aiken, SC 29801.
