Imogene Littlejohn
Imogene Tedards Littlejohn, 66, of 1108 Scotch Cross Road, wife of Clyde T. Littlejohn Jr., died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002 at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late John Felix and Sudie Hastings Tedards.
She was a graduate of Greenwood College of Commerce and retired from the engineering department of Monsanto (now Solutia) after 32 years of service. She was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Fielda) Gray of Greenwood; and a granddaughter.
Services are 11:30 a.m. today at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Richard McWhite.
Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Doug Young, Harold Fortner, Henry Mitchell, Jim Bohler, Len Bornemann, Howard Nickles, Roger Waldrop and Mark Gray.
Honorary escorts are members of the Couples II Sunday School Class of South Main Street Baptist Church.
Visitation is 10:30-11:30 today at the funeral home.

Julia R. Bangs
AURORA, CO — Julia R. Bangs, 80, of Aurora, CO, formerly of Chicago, passed away November 24, 2002. She is survived by her beloved sons William Saul of Aurora, CO, and Robert (Jan) Saul of Greenwood, SC, and dear grandchildren Bradley and Ben. Mrs. Bangs was an avid sportswoman who loved golf and won a doubles championship in tennis. She was the owner of the Snug Harbor Ranch in Polson, MT, and at one time headed the Colorado Hospital Volunteers’ Association. Funeral services will be held and interment will take place in Illinois on Tuesday, December 3, 2002. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Preecher Bryan
SALUDA — Dwight “Preecher” Bryan, 72, of 307 N. Jefferson St., died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002 at his home. Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Olin Ellis and Emmie Lee DeLoach Bryan. He was the former owner and operator of Bryan’s Service Station.
Survivors include two brothers, Hubert R. Bryan and Leonard Bryan, both of Saluda; and a sister, Deloris B. Moore of Belton.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. today at Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Norman Rogers.
Visitation is after the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 6604, Columbia, SC 29260 or to the charity of one’s choice.

James R. Gilbert
HODGES — Services for James Rathen “Mansey” Gilbert, of 120 N. Hodges School Road, are 2 p.m. today at Macedonia CME Church, Hodges, conducted by he Rev. Ida Shipman, assisted by the Revs. J.J. Robinson, James Williams and Bishop Emanuel Spearman. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Johnny Conway, Freddie Elam, Walter Gilbert, Grant Harris Jr., Wangus Harris and Daniel Williams.
Flower bearers are Elease Smith, Diane Anty, Peggy Fisher, Sherry Marshall and Terry Marshall.
The family is at the home and at 122 N. Hodges School Road, Hodges.

John D. Patterson
McCORMICK — John D. “Jack” Patterson, 84, of McCormick, husband of Miriam Edmunds Patterson, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Beaufort.
Born in McCormick, he was a son of the late James Oscar and Azilee Harmon Patterson. He served in the Army’s 58th Armored Division that participated in the Normandy Invasion, was a member of the American Legion Post No. 19, and he retired from the South Carolina Employment Security Commission after 39 years. He was a member of McCormick First Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons and director of Sunday School.
Survivors include his wife of McCormick; three daughters, Mrs. Sonny (Rosemary) Carson of Greenwood, Mrs. Tony (Ginger) Dukes of Columbia and Mrs. Ken (Jackie) Brown of Beaufort; a sister, Jewel T. McGrath of McCormick; a brother, Cecil Patterson of Asheville, N.C.; eight grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at McCormick First Baptist Church. Burial is in McCormick City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jerry Patterson, Pat Patterson, Tommy McGrath, Van Newell, Mike Jordan and Leroy Martin.
Honorary escorts are Charles Herrin, Ronnie Kidd, Mike McCormick, Albert Freeland, Deacons of the McCormick First Baptist Church, the Baracca Sunday School class, the McCormick Police Department and town employees and former members of the Abbeville Employment Security Commission.

Martha M. Thompson
JOANNA — Martha M. Thompson, 85, formerly of 512 Blalock Drive, widow of Lewis R. Thompson Sr., died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002 at National Health Care, Clinton.
Born in McCormick, she was a daughter of the late John Michael and Bennie Porter McGrath. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Randy Thompson of Easley; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 3 p.m. Saturday at Pinelawn Memory Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Joe Baldwin.
Visitation is from 2-3 Saturday at Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family is in Powdersville.

Shirley Traynham
WARE SHOALS — Shirley Traynham, 65, of 61 S. Greenwood Ave., died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Ware Shoals, she was a daughter of Sara Bishop Traynham and the late J.T. Traynham. She was a retired analytical chemist with Riechem, Ware Shoals and a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church, where she taught the Dorcas Sunday School Class. Survivors include her mother of the home; and a sister, Jane Callaham of Greer.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Ware Shoals First Baptist, conducted by the Revs. Leon Jones, Dan Compton and the Rev. Dr. Floyd Parker. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Harold Kay, Drayton Bishop, Scott Bishop, Al White, Lyman Golden, Ed Arnold and Lamar Cain.
Honorary escorts are the Dorcas Sunday School Class, choir members and employees of Riechem.
Visitation is from 1-2 Saturday at the First Baptist Church social hall.

Mildred Wells
McCORMICK — Mildred Wells, 61, of 308 Wall Road Apt. E-1, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002 at her home.
She was a daughter of the late Lester and Julia Crawford Wells, a graduate of Mims High School, and a retired office manager. She was also retired from the Army Reserves and a member of Pine Grove A.M.E. Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Roslyn Hairston of Jamaica, N.Y.; and three sisters, Ruby L. Parker of Plum Branch, Dorothy Wells-Kemp and Judy Cordell, both of McCormick.
The family is at the home.
Service will be announced by Walker Funeral Home.

Russie Young
Russie Beaudrot Young, 84, of 420 Calhoun Ave., wife of John Christopher Young, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Louis and Russie Prather Beaudrot. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School and Lander College and a former employee of Pilot Life Insurance Company. She was a member of the American Legion Post No. 20, Ladies Auxiliary, the Violet Garden Club and was currently serving as Sargent of Arms. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Benson Sunday School Class, the WMU of the church, the church choir and she formerly taught in the primary Sunday School department of the church.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Mary Brooks Rentz of Lake Murray and Jo Beth Mewbourn of West Columbia; a sister, Ray B. Young of Greenwood; a brother, Rufus Beaudrot of Atlanta; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Tony Hopkins. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Russell Mewbourn, Ernie Young, Joseph Beaudrot, Keith Jernigan, Charlie Mauldin and Furman Mauldin.

Lewis Bagwell
CLEMSON — William Lewis Bagwell, Sr. of 215 Knollwood Drive, Clemson, SC, died November 28, 2002 at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, SC. He was born on Lee Street, Ware Shoals, SC, August 5, 1930, the son of the late William Breal and Ruby Mae Hughes Bagwell.
He is survived by one sister, Joanne B. Wright of Hodges, his wife of forty-one years, Miriam Cooper Bagwell and their children, Kimberly Janice Bagwell of Greenwood and William Lewis “Lew” Bagwell, Jr. of Anderson, daughter-in-law Judy Martin Bagwell and two granddaughters, Heather Lynn and Mary Elizabeth Bagwell.
He was a graduate of Ware Shoals High School, served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict following which he was employed by Riegel Textile Corporation for twenty-seven years, retiring as Super-intendent, Preparation and Finishing.
He later worked at Emerald Center Multi-County Board for Disabilities and Special Needs for ten years as Manager of Residences, where he still served on the Human Rights Committee.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ware Shoals for forty-three years where he served as Deacon, Chairman of the Board of Deacons, Sunday School Superintendent, Brotherhood President and teacher of the Fred O’Dell Sunday School Class. After moving to Clemson in 1999, he became a member of East Clemson Baptist Church where he had served as Deacon, Chairman of Long Range Planning Committee and on the Budget & Finance Committee.
Active in civic affairs, Mr. Bagwell had served as a Board Member of the Ware Shoals Planning & Development Commission; Ware Shoals Welfare Foundation; Ware Shoals Community Foundation; Salvation Army Board; Abbeville County Development Board; a member of Ware Shoals Town Council and President of the Ware Shoals Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Ware Shoals Quarterback Club for five years. He also coached Parks & Recreation baseball and football for ten years. He was a Life Member of Ware Shoals Lodge No. 306 A.F.M.. and for the past thirty-eight years he has served as an IPTAY representative, most recently from Pickens County.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 30, 2002 at 2PM at Calvary Baptist Church, Highway 252, Ware Shoals, S.C. with Reverend Robert Emory, Reverend Billy Slatter and Reverend Kirby Winstead officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Masonic rites.
Pallbearers will be Keith Summer, Jim Wright, Gary Davis, Robbie Cooper, Bill Thompson, Dan Thompson, Mark Cooper, Kerry Cooper and Jackie Gaston.
Honorary escort will be Jimmie Powell, Bobby McKee, Marion Carnell, Bobby Osborne, Wayne Richey, C.T. “Buddy” Ware, Joe Bailey, Felton Burton, Terry Hahn, Bob Bowen, Don Wade, Richard Culbreath, Don McAlister, Tim Bowen, Lee Higdon, Johnson Link, Bert Henderson and Jim Trammell.
The family will be at the home in Clemson and will receive friends immediately following the burial 4:30-6PM in the Calvary Baptist Church Recreation Building.

Mattie B. Butler
McCORMICK — Mattie Brown Butler, 86, of McCormick Health Care, widow of Clayton Butler, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 in McCormick.
Born in Edgefield County, she was a daughter of the late Malcome and Sally Deason Brown. She was employed as a mill spinner and was a member of McCormick First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Felton Butler of Evans, Ga.; two daughters, Barbara B. Storey and Eron B. May, both of Greenwood; a sister, Sara B. Gable of Lexington; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 3 p.m. Sunday at OverBrook Cemetery, Highway 221 McCormick, conducted by the Rev. Dennis Lynn.
Visitation is from 7-9 Saturday at Strom Funeral Home.
