Sarah Belle Neal, 64, of 233 A Mineral Court, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002 at her home.
Born in McCormick County, she was a daughter of the late Dewey and Laura Ann Wideman Noble Neal.
She was a retired presser for Greenwood Laundry and a member of Bailey Bethel A.M.E. Church in McCormick.
Survivors include a daughter, Bessie Mae Neal Gilchrist of Greenville; two brothers, George Noble and Floyd Neal, both of Greenwood; four sisters, Mattie Harrison, Jane Wells and Louise Neal, all of Greenwood, and Ollie Lou Neal of New York City; three grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Sunday at Bailey Bethel A.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. J.W. Paul. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are nephews and friends of the family.
Flower bearers are nieces and friends of the family.
Visitation is from 6-7 tonight at Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc., which is in charge.

LaRubia C. Rivera
NEW YORK — LaRubia Craig Rivera, 42, of 312 Delancey St., Apt. 1E, NewYork, N.Y., wife of Demitris Rivera, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Lutheran Medical Center.
Born in New York, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late William Alexander Craig and Dora Quarles. Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Rosa Edwards of Long Island, N.Y.; two sisters, Glenda Craig and Laverne Valerie Craig, both of New York, N.Y.; two brothers, William Alexander Craig of Columbia and Dennis Vonn of New York; and three grandchildren.
Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Raymond Mitchell Funeral Home, 956 Putnam Ave., Brooklyn, N.Y., 11221.
The family is at the home.

LeRoy Suttlemyre
GREENWOOD — LeRoy Nelson Suttlemyre, 85, formerly of 122 Sagewood Road, husband of Virginia Williamson Suttlemyre, died Thursday, December 5, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Coy A. and Annie Heaton Suttlemyre. He retired from Greenwood Packing Plant as a night supervisor after 36 years and was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church and the Men's Bible Class.
Surviving is his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas L. and Nancy Suttlemyre of Greenwood; two grandchildren, Tara Suttlemyre Kennedy of Pompano Beach, FL and Teresa Suttlemyre Kunich of Hilton Head Island and five great grandchildren.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Patterson and the Rev. Richard McWhite officiating. Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Dylan Kunich, Jim Reynolds, Michael Maffett, Don Kunich, Sonny Meadows and Steve Kennedy.
Honorary escort will be members of the Men's Bible Class of South Main Street Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 3:15 p.m.
The family is at the home of Thomas & Nancy Suttlemyre, 713 Fairway Lakes Road, Hunter's Creek.

HODGES — George Maxie Swancey, 74, of 301 Pow Road, husband of Hilda Smith Swancey, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at his home.
Born in Ninety Six, he was a son of the late George Maxie and Lila Mae Horne Swancey. He was employed by Greenwood School District 50 as Clerk of the Works and owned Small World Learning Center Inc., in Ware Shoals. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters, Edwina Hatcher of Hodges, Sonya Sheppard of Ware Shoals and Cindy Blodgett of Greer; two sons, Bobby G. Stone and George D. “Donnie” Swancey, both of Greenwood; two sisters, Sara Kunkle of Ninety Six and Cora S. Riddle of Greenwood; and 13 grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Sunday at Harley Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Lamar Babb and Robert Emory. Burial is in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Terry Willard, Danny Jones, John Carter, George Elmore, LeeRoy Harrison, Dwight Herring, Cullen Montjoy and Joe Smith.
Honorary escorts are Ronnie Bentley, Steve Butler, Bee Montgomery, Randy May, Danny Spivey, Jon Stevenson, Dr. Samuel Burnette and the District Office employees of Greenwood School District 50. Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Helen Riles Bagwell, 88, of Lot #10 County Farm Road, widow of John Lewis Bagwell, died Sunday, December 08, 2002 at Saluda Nursing Center.
Born in Darlington, SC; a daughter of the late Freeland and Addie Hacthell Riles. She was retired from the Mathews Plant of Greenwood Mills, where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was also a member of Mathews United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda B. Wood of Greenwood; a sister Dorothy Cooke of Darlington; grandchildren John & Joyce Crouch of Saluda, Dot Sudduth & Hugh Jones of Laurens, John and Rebecca Sudduth of Greenwood, and Marvin & Sandra Sudduth of Saluda; great-grandchildren Michelle & Marshall Crouch, Tracy, Johnthan, Samnatha, and Jesse Sudduth.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Hipp and Rev. Pat McCain officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Dee Wood, Donnie Stewart, Bootie and Doug Sipe, Marvin Stinnett and Ronald Reid.
Honorary escorts will be Charles Stewart, “Bubba” Hugh Jones and the Ladies Sunday School Class of Mathews United Methodist Church.

Hoyt Boone
CALLISON — Hoyt Boone, 80, of 1210 Browntown Road, widower of Margaret Yochem Boone, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002 at his home.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late William Marion and Mary Lucretia Ouzts Boone. He was a retired employee of Greenwood Mills-Adams Plant. He was a member of Greenwood Mills Quarter Century Club and Bold Spring Baptist Church, where he served as secretary and treasurer of the Men’s Bible Class. He was a former Deacon of the church. He was first married to the late Larue Anderson Boone.
Survivors include a daughter, Delores B. Melton of Greenwood; three sons, Marion H. Boone and Terry W. Boone, both of Greenwood and Jerry L. Boone of Callison; a brother, Harold Boone of Greenwood; four stepdaughters, Peggy Yochem of Ninety Six, Sandra Burden and Harriet Wideman, both of Greenwood and Janice Ashley of Vicksburg, Miss.; a stepson, Gary Yochem of Mountville; 10 grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Revs. Chris Garrison and Bennie Ridlehoover. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Charles Freeland, Kenneth Boone, Wayne Boone, Orin Boone, Warren Johnson, Bruce Smith, Buck Davis and Charles Johnson.
Honorary escorts are men of Bold Spring Baptist Church, along with Calhoun Jordan, Bill Dorn and W.S. Harvey.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Blyth Funeral Home.

Robert Culp, Jr.
Robert Ben “Bob” Culp, Jr., 76, owner of prominent shoe store in Greenwood for over 34 years, died Sunday, December 8, 2002 at his home at 308 Clairmont Drive.
Born in Charlotte, NC, August 29, 1926, he was a son of the late Robert Ben, Sr. and Iona Weir Culp. He was a graduate of Lancaster High School, Lancaster, SC and Presbyterian Junior College, Maxton, NC. He received a degree in Agricultural Education from Clemson College (now Clemson University) and was a US Navy Veteran of WW II. Mr. Culp served as President of Culp Shoes, Inc. until his retirement in 1994.
A member of Hodges Presbyterian Church, he was also serving as Elder, Deacon and Sunday School teacher of the Church and was a member of the Church choir. Mr. Culp was a loyal member of IPTAY for over 50 years and was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Edna Thompson Culp of the home are a daughter, Renee Culp Bland and husband Eric S. Bland of Columbia and a son, Dr. Robert Ben Culp, III and wife Kay Dominick Culp of Spartanburg. Five grandchildren, Amy Elizabeth Culp, Lauren Michelle Culp, Robert Benjamin Culp, Sydney A. Bland and Davis J. Bland. Three sisters, Yvonne C. Isted of Eustis, Fl., Francine C. Player and Rosemary C. Cauthen, both of Lancaster. Seven nephews and two nieces.
He was predeceased by a brother Harry Culp.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 PM Tuesday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Piephoff and Otto McDonald officiating.
Burial will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Tommy O’Dell, Al Connell, Russell Crawford, Jimmy Vaughn, Robert Nickles, Curtis Stewart, Reggie Hannah, Bill Goff and Ernest Pinson.
Honorary escort will be active and former Elders and Deacons of Hodges Presbyterian Church.
The family is at the home in Druid Hills and will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3 Tuesday afternoon.

William Graham
NINETY SIX — William Edward “Bill” Graham, 87, of 101 Graham Drive, husband of Ethel Harriet Hubbard Graham, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
He was a graduate of Ninety Six Colored School and he retired from the Navy after 30 years of service. He was a member of Mays United Methodist Church, Ninety Six, where we served as a member of United Methodist Men, trustee, former church treasurer and he also served on the finance committee.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, William Maurice Graham of Oakland, Calif. and Gardner G. Graham of Lawton, Okla.; three daughters, Mrs. Micheal (Sylvia) Wilson of Stockton, Calif., Gwen Harris of Los Angeles and Delfina R. Graham of Edgewood, Md.; a niece reared in the home, Lynette Hubbard of Oakland; two sisters, Catherine G. Williams of Ninety Six and Emma Ruth G. Johnson of Lawton; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced Robinson and Son Mortuary Inc.

Ransom Harrison
TROY — Ransom “RN” Harrison Sr., 80, of Route 1 in the Callison Area, husband of Nancy Stevens Harrison, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in McCormick County, he was a son of the late Ransom and Mattie Andrews Harrison. He was a retired employee of Self Regional Medical Center, a member of the Springfield and Mt. Moriah Burial Aide Societies and a member of Springfield Baptist Church, where he served on the Deacon Board.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Ransom Harrison Jr. and Howard Harrison, both of McCormick; a daughter, Louvenia Harrison of McCormick; two sisters, Julia Nobles of New York City and Charlie Cromartie of Columbia; a brother, Burnis Harrison of Greenwood; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
The family is at the home.
Service will be announced by Walker Funeral Home.

Mollie McCaslan
CALHOUN FALLS — Mollie Mitchell McCaslan, 83, of 100 Sherard St., widow of Buster M. McCaslan, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Madison County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Doc and Hattie Kidd Mitchell. She was a retired employee of Rocky River Mills and a member of the Willing Workers. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church, Calhoun Falls.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy M. Hilley of Greer; a son, Mackey McCaslan of Abbeville; a sister, Naomi Wells of Calhoun Falls; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. Ray Simpson. Burial is in Latimer Cemetery, Calhoun Falls.
Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at Harris Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of her son, 320 Pecan Road.

Betty Gene Proveaux
NEESES — Betty Gene Winn Proveaux, 57, of 207 John D. Livingston Drive, wife of Charles H. Proveaux, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002 at Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia.
Born in McCormick County, she was a daughter of the late James Carroll and Carrie Geneva Ridlehoover Winn. She was a teacher’s aide and a member of Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include her husband of Neeses; stepdaughter, Sherry Allen of Pelion; stepson, Charles H. Proveaux Jr. of Leesville; five sisters, Mary Ann Riley of Greenwood, Carolyn Jackson of Aiken, Miriam James of St. George, Gail Collier and Terry Jones, both of Plum Branch; and six grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted the Rev. Henry Chavis. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Chuck Jackson, Pat Jackson, Steven James, Jay Riley, Walt Russell and Edgar Hutto.
Visitation is from 7-9 tonight at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home, North.
The family is at the home of her stepson, 420 Lee Gunter Road in the Fairview Community.
