NINETY SIX — Services for William Edward “Bill” Graham are 2 p.m. Friday at Mays United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Willie Key, assisted by Elder Thomas Richardson and Elder Jesse Warren. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Ninety-Six Community Cemetery.
Pallbearers are U.S. Navy military escorts.
Honorary escorts are church officers.
Flower bearers are members of the United Methodist Women and church ushers.
Visitation is 7-8 Thursday at Robinson & Son Mortuary.
The family is at the home, 101 Graham Drive.

Beatrice J. Martin
Services for Beatrice Jackson Martin are 3:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul F.B.H. Church, conducted by the Rev. Lela Breeze, assisted by Elder J.L. Davis. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers and flower bearers are friends of the family.
Visitation is 7-8 tonight at Robinson & Son Mortuary.

Sidney Qualls
WARE SHOALS — Sidney Eugene Qualls, 58, of 363 Turkey Creek Road, husband of Judy Pressley Qualls, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002 at his home.
Born in Ware Shoals, he was a son of the late James and Frances Burkett Qualls and was a member of Turkey Creek Baptist Church, where he served as an usher and on various committees. He worked at Riegel Textile Corp. from 1962 until the plant closed in 1985, receiving a ZD Award and a Corporate Award. He also worked at Ware Shoals Dye and Print and, most recently, was a maintenance technician for Riechem of Mt. Vernon Mills Division.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Scotty Simpson of the home, Randy Qualls of Waterloo and Donny Qualls of Ware Shoals; three brothers, Roy Qualls of Angleton, Texas , James Qualls of Simpsonville, and Edward Qualls of Waterloo; two sisters, Joyce Knight Hunt of Gray Court and Lydia Hammond of Williamston; and a grandchild.
Services are at 3 Thursday at Turkey Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Rod Carver, Jack King and Bobby Davis. Burial is in the Ware Shoals Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 2.
Pallbearers are Bill Knight, Mike Knight, Gerald Knight, Stanley Roach, Leonard Qualls and David Qualls.
Honorary pallbearers are employees of Riechem and members of the Men’s Sunday School Class of the church, along with Danny Abercrombie, Curtis Brown, Reid Goodbar, Robert Pace, Ronnie Sullivan, Terry Wood, Aubrey Bannister, Buddy Garrett, Steve Lynch, Bobby Spence and Joe Wood.
Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Parker-White Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Turkey Creek Baptist Church, 235 Turkey Creek Road, Ware Shoals, SC 29692 or to Hospice, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.

James Sibert
BUFFALO, N.Y. — James Sibert, husband of Theola Bell Sibert, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 in Buffalo.
Born in McCormick, S.C., he was a son of the late James and Lessie Haskel Sibert. He was a member of Mount Zion Church of God Holiness, where he served on the usher board. He retired from General Motors in 1980.
Survivors include his wife of the home.
Services and burial were Dec. 5 in Buffalo.
H. Alfred Lewis Mortuary was in charge.

Albert Abell
Albert Wilkerson Abell, 86, of 526 Haltiwanger Road, husband of Reba Cline Abell, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002 at National Health Care of Greenwood.
Born in Hollywood, Md., he was a son of the late Robert William and Henrietta Wilkerson Abell. He was an Army World War II veteran and a retired electrical auto mechanic.
Survivors include his wife of Greenwood; a daughter, Kay Ahlstrom of Greenwood; three brothers, James Abell, David Abell and Vernon Abell, all of Maryland; two granddaughters and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at a later date.
Blyth Funeral Home is in charge.

Julia Conway
Julia Bell Syrkett Conway, of 1548 Pineridge Apartments, No. 2-F, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Parks Funeral Home.

Edward Gilchrist Sr
McCORMICK — Services for Edward Gilchrist Sr. are 2 p.m. Saturday at Tranquil A.M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. Derrick Scott, pastor. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Butch Leverette, Nathan Leverette, Marshall Booker, Dale White, Ray Cunningham and Ronnie Key.
Flower bearers are Maria Leverette, Debbie Key, Kate Sanders, Bridget Jenkins, Brenda Moss, Tonja White and Cheryl Arnette.
The family is at the home, 311 Oak Hill Lane.

Eula H. Mattison
McCORMICK — Eula H. Mattison, 87, widow of Rufus Mattison, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002 at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.
Born in McCormick, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Sallie Statum Haskell. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where she served in the Missionary Society and was a past member of the Senior Choir.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Lowery and Judy Mattison of Columbia and Barbara Carolina of Newark, N.J.
The family is at the home on Cedar Hill Road.
Services will be announced by Walker Funeral Home.

Kenneth Nathan Mobley
Kenneth Nathan Mobley, 75, of 114 Kaye Drive, husband of Wyladene “Dena” Cooper Mobley, died Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at his home.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late James C. and Nora Jennings Mobley. He was employed with Abney Mills for 27 years and was retired with Westinghouse. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class, the Administrative Board, the Choir, and the Friendship Club and past president of the United Methodist Men’s Club. He was former choir director with St. Mark, Mathews, Galloway, and Lowell Street United Methodist churches. He was a member of Mathews Lodge #358 A.F.M. and Callie Self Chapter #199 Eastern Star.
He sang with several Gospel Groups and played with several Jazz bands. He was the last survivor of his immediate family. He was predeceased by a brother J.L. Mobley, two sisters, Earlene M. Harvey and Vivian M. Gillian, and stepbrother Willie Mobley.
Surviving is his wife of the home; son and daughter-in-law Kenneth Michael and Dody Herring Mobley, both of Greenwood; two grandchildren, Thad M. Mobley of Batesburg and Cooper J. Mobley of Greenwood; two step-grandchildren Jessica R. Snelling and R. Joshua Snelling, both of Greenwood.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Harley Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. L. Kim Eanes and Dr. Ted Morton officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Suit, Ken Carr, Mark Burke, Jerry Cooper, Tim Sullivan, David Lindsey, Mark Simmons, Eddie Fain, John Dowis, and Bruce Coller. Honorary escorts will be the Men of Aldersgate, Pete Simpson, Sam McAllister, Elby Hoyt, James Bowers, Jeff Rushton, Jim Shelton, Joe Floyd, Dr. Carlos Manalich, Dr. Kim Russell, Bill Hodges, and Dr. Joe Stephenson.
The body is at Harley Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Thursday night from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29605.

LYONS, Ga. — Douglas M. Campbell, 58, of 238 Humphries Road, husband of Jan Campbell, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002 at his home.
Services will be announced by Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville, S.C.

Julia Conway
Julia Bell Syrkett Conway, 75, of 1548 Pineridge Apartments, No. 2-F, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late James and Mary Syrkett. She attended Ninety Six public schools, worked for Ninety Six School District 52 for several years and retired from Monsanto. She was a member of Old Mount Zion Baptist Church, Epworth community, and the Missionary Society of the church.
Survivors include five sisters, Marbereine Johnson of Jersey City, N.J., Mary Ann Lattan and Martharine Fed of Brooklyn, N.Y., Betty Mae Calhoun and Bessie Mae Steadham of Philadelphia; a brother, Jessie James Syrkett of Columbia.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at Old Mount Zion Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Clyde D. Cannon, assisted by Minister Carolyn Tolbert. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are church deacons, and flower bearers are members of the church Missionary Society.
Visitation is 6-7 tonight at Parks Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.

Jim Crouch
SALUDA — James Carl “Jim” Crouch, 80, of 898 Greenwood Highway, husband of Sallie Mae Buffington Crouch, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002 at Saluda Nursing Center.
Born in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Bennie Belton and Sudie Schumpert Crouch. He was an Army veteran and retired from the DHIA of the Clemson Extension Service. He was a member of the DAV and St. Paul United Methodist Church and an honorary member of the Big Red Hunt Club.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Carl Randall Crouch of Greenwood; a daughter, Judy Crouch Williams of Charleston; four brothers, Carol E. Crouch, John D. Crouch and Bobby E. Crouch, all of Saluda, Fate S. Crouch of Johnston; two sisters, Mary C. Berry of Saluda and Lois C. Matthews of Batesburg; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are 2:30 Sunday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Nels Ledwell. Burial is in West Travis Park Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-7:30 tonight at Ramey Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society chapter of one’s choice or to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 102 Butler Ave., Saluda, SC 29138.

Larry DeVore
COLUMBIA — Larry Timmerman DeVore, 61, resident of 1203 Center Street, died December 13, 2002 at Richland Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenwood, October 14, 1941, he was a son of the late Fred Williams and Bessie Timmerman DeVore. Mr. DeVore was a resident of the Babcock Center in Columbia and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Ninety Six.
Surviving is a sister, Virginia D. Pike of Lexington, a sister-in-law, Iris DeVore of Charlotte, NC and a number of nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his extended family of the Babcock Center in Columbia.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2PM Sunday at Elmwood Cemetery in Ninety Six with Rev. Delos Corderman officiating. The body is at Blyth Funeral Home in Greenwood.
Memorials may be made to Babcock Center, 500 Rivermont Drive, Columbia, SC 29210.
Blyth Funeral Home is in charge.
