Nancy Montez Hood, 50, of 208 Eastman Drive, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002.
She was a daughter of the Montez Forister Hood of Greenville and the late John T. Hood. She attended Greenville Technical College, receiving a degree as a physical therapy assistant. She worked at Self Regional Healthcare for eleven years and the Greenwood Postal Service for four years. She was a member of Sertoma, and was Sertoma of the Year from 1987-1988.
Survivors include her mother of Greenville.
Services are at 3 today at the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown Chapel. A graveside service will follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 2-2:50 today at the funeral home.
The family is at 46 Wallace St., Greenville.

John Henry Jones Jr.
John Henry Jones Jr., 44, of 308 North Hospital St., husband of Betty M. Jones, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Annie R. William of Greenwood and the late John Henry Jones Sr. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Greenwood; his mother of Greenwood; step-father, Carl Williams of Greenwood; a son, Avery Moore of Greenwood; a step-son, Maqueze Morton of Abbeville; two daughters, Tiffany Nicholson of Greenville and Makea Jones of Abbeville; two brothers, Robert Anthony Jones and Tony A. Jones, both of Greenwood; three sisters, Cokeythy Harrison and Beverly Arnold, both of Bradley, and Patricia Williams of Promiseland.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc.

Albert Martin
ABBEVILLE — Albert Lanford Martin, 88, formerly of 372 Thomson Circle, widower of Ida Woolbright Martin, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at Abbeville Nursing Home.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Walter S. and Janie Bowie Martin. He was a World War II Army veteran, a member of The Clinton Masonic Lodge No. 3 AFM in Abbeville, with over 65 years of service, and a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He was retired from Abbeville Mills Maintenance Weaving Department after 52 years of service.
Survivors include a daughter, Abby M. McCord of Abbeville; a sister, Mary Frances Nickles of Dallas, Texas ; and two grandchildren.
Services are at 2 Monday at Grace United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Darren Hook. Burial, with Masonic Rites, is in Long Cane Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-7:30 tonight at The Chandler-Jackson Funeral Home.
The family is at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby McCord, 169 Horne Drive, Abbeville.
Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 100 East Greenwood St., Abbeville, S.C., 29620.

Michael Norman
CALHOUN FALLS — Michael Norman, 43, of 113 Kathryon St., husband of Diana Norman, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, in Calhoun Falls. He was a son of Ozetta C. Norman and the late Tommy Norman Jr., and was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife of the home; four daughters, Latrinda Norman and Keyahan Norman, both of the home, Shanelda Holland of Calhoun Falls, and Latoria Holland of Lincolnton, Ga.; two brothers, Willie Norman of Lincolnton, Ga., and Otis Clark of Calhoun Falls; three sisters, Gwen Harris and Beverly Kilgore, both of Greenville, and Mattie Bell Norman of Boston, Mass.; and a grandchild.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Richie Funeral Home Inc., of Abbeville.

Della Mae Poss
BRADLEY — Della Mae Poss, 86, of 916 Cedar Springs Road, widow of J.L. Poss, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at her home.
Born in Jefferson, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Thomas H. and Eliza Ann West Worley. She was a patient sitter and a member of the Senior Citizens Merrymaker Club of Abbeville and Friendship Baptist Church of Abbeville.
She was preceded in death by a son, Roy Bruton.
Surviving is a step-son, Harold Tony Seymour of the home; a daughter-in-law, Tina Bruton of Fountain Inn; four step-daughters, Rebecca Noffko of Saluda, Mary Cooper of Waterloo, Wanda Armstrong of Hayden, Ala., and Sandra Moore of Ninety Six; twenty-three grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 today at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J Wendell Rhodes and the Rev. Bill Ellison officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Joe Bruton, Michael Bruton, Joey Bruton, Andrew Bruton, Jacob Ruscetta, Daniel Ruscetta and Tony Ruscetta.
The family is at the home, 916 Cedar Springs Road, Bradley.
Memorials may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 233 Carwellyn Road, Abbeville, S.C., 29620.

Rebecca Quarles
Rebecca Quarles, 81, of 922 Taggart St., widow of T.L. Quarles, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Ernest Lewis and Lelia Moore Lewis. She was a member of Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Epworth.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary F. Martin and Gladys Young, both of Greenwood, and Marian Grant of Elmsford, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc.

Charles R. White
HARLEM, Ga. — Charles Robert “Bob” White, 66, of Appling Harlem Road, husband of Patsy Milbourn White, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
A native of Washington , Ind., he was a retired sergeant 1st class from the Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He was retired from the Signal Corps as an instructor, was a former City of Harlem patrolman and Police Chief, and worked security for Advanced Auto Parts Warehouse. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and a life-long member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, David Lee White of Greenwood, S.C.; two daughters, Debbie White Knox and Deanna White Beasley, both of Appling; a brother, Eddie L. White of London, KY.; and eight grandchildren.
Services are at 3 Sunday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Harlem Ward, conducted by the Bishop Timothy Tippett. Burial with full military honors is in Bellevue Memorial Gardens, near Grovetown.
Pallbearers are members of the military.
Honorary pallbearers are the High Priest Group in the Harlem Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

DONALDS — Joyce Virginia Golden Gurley, 65, of 303 Drake Road, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002 at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Blanche Brown Ledford and James Golden.
Survivors include three sons, Johnny Ray Ledford of Donalds, James Willis Ledford, and Jeffery Lawrence Ledford of Ware Shoals; five daughters, Kathy G. Emory of Colorado, Rebecca Barnhill of Silsbee, Texas , Saundra LeCroy and Donna Lynn Clark, both of Pendleton and Kimberley Michelle Ledford of Honea Path; two brothers, Donald Wayne Ledford and Milton Golden of Greenwood; two sisters, Betty Ingram and Doris Esco of Troy; 18 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Gene Burdett. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Walter E. Greene, Johnny Ray Ledford, Tony Keith, Travis Pryor, James Ledford, Mathew LeCroy, Jeffery Ledford and Lee Pace.
Visitation is 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Docia Martin
Docia Ollie Wiggins Martin, 89, of 206 Eastman Drive, widow of Weldon Dewrell Martin, died Saturday, December 14, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland County, NC; a daughter of the late Frank Riley and Fannie Louella Daggerheart Wiggins. She was formerly employed with the Harris Plant of Greenwood Mills. She was a member of Harris Baptist Church, where she was a member of the TEL Sunday School Class, formerly served as class secretary for a number of years and helped in the nursery. She was predeceased by a grandson David Watts.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Jean Martin of Greenwood; three daughters, Mrs. Ray “Betty” Martin Watts of Hodges, Mrs. Bobby “Marilyn” Motte of Greenwood and Mrs. Bobby “Carolyn” Watts of Greenwood; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Bill McCollom, Ralph Dalton, Jonathan Watts, Jason Watts, Jeremy Watts, Nicholas McAlister, Tripp Williamson, and Frank Coursey.
Honorary escorts will be the TEL Sunday School Class of Harris Baptist Church, Albert Buzhardt, Bill Beckham, Jim Edwards, Robert Suggs, Dr. Michael Bryant, Charles Adams, Dewey Ouzts, George Smith, Dan Wideman, Frank Gordon, and W.L. Motte.
The body is at Harley Funeral Home where the family will receive friends Monday night from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Harris Baptist Church Building fund, 300 Center Street, Greenwood, SC 29649 or to a charity of one’s choice.
The family is at the home of her son, Billy Martin, 177 Highland Drive, Greenwood.

Services for Rebecca Quarles, of 922 Taggart St., are 1 p.m. Tuesday at Old Mount Zion Baptist Church, Epworth, conducted by the Rev. Robert Scotland, assisted by the Revs. Clyde Cannon and Ulysses Parks. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Masons.
Flower bearers are members of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 418.
Visitation is 7-8 tonight at the home.

Carroll Young
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Johnie Carroll Young, 79, formerly of Greenwood and Greenville, S.C., died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002 at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.
Born in Greenville, S.C., he was a son of the late John L. and Ethel Tinsley Young. He was an Army World War II veteran, and he served 20 years in the Air Force Reserves. Retired from Ballentine Ford in Greenwood, he was a member of Downtown Baptist Church, Greenville, and a Mason.
Survivors include a son, Barry C. Young of Memphis; a daughter, Cindy Y. Scott of Greenwood; a sister, Elizabeth Craft of Columbia, S.C.; two grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Blyth Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. Robert Miller. Burial is in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 6-8 tonight at the funeral home.
The family is at the home of Don and Cindy Scott, 305 Hunting Road, Chinquapin, Greenwood.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Michael Andrew Allen, infant son of Larry Shane Allen and Crystal Lynn Andrews, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his parents; maternal grandparents, Charles and Laura Andrews of Greenwood; paternal grandparents, Ronnie and Donna Allen of Greenwood; maternal great-grandparents, Cal and Rachel Woodall of Ninety Six, Lucy Woodall of Ninety Six and Mildred Andrews of Greenwood; paternal great grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Vanderford of Greenwood and Alma Gillion of Greenwood; and two brothers, Austin Allen and James Allen, both of the home.
Graveside services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Cemetery, conducted by the Revs. Paul Cooper and J.B. Vanderford.
