Annie Mae Norman
Annie Mae Norman, 93, widow of Jake Norman, of Magnolia Manor, formerly of 120 Sample St., died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002 at her home.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Johnny and Alma Robinson Chappell. She was a member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church and Women’s Aid Society No. 55.
Survivors include two daughters, Mattie Scott of Philadelphia and Louise Tolbert of Greenwood; an adopted son, Ernest Lake of Greenwood; a brother, Roosevelt Chappell of Greenwood; 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 34 great-great-grandchildren.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Morris Chapel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Clyde Cannon, the assisting minister, the Rev. Raymond Adams. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial is in Evening Star Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are church deacons.
Flower bearers are members of Women’s Aid Society No. 55.
The family is at 120 Sample St.

Ann W. Pracht
HILTON HEAD — Ann White Pracht, 93, formerly of Greenwood, widow of John C. Pracht Jr., died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002 at the Life Care Center, Hilton Head.
Born in Oxford, Ala., she was a daughter of the late John Tucker and Mary Centilla B. White. She was a former member of the Tulip Garden Club and a former volunteer for the Greenwood Museum and the Soup Kitchen. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greenwood, where she served as secretary, a member of the Sunday School Class and a member of Circle No. 2.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph M. Pracht of Greenwood and Bluffton and Andrew W. Pracht of Hilton Head; a stepson, John C. Pracht III of Anderson; four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and a step-great-grandchild. Graveside services are 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, conducted by Dr. John Wall and the Rev. Ryan Eklund. Survivors include a sister, Ruth W. Butler, and a brother, Aubrey White, both of Aiken.
Visitation is at the graveside following the services.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 108 E. Cambridge Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646, Meals on Wheels or to a charity of one’s choice.

Gail Sanders
Gail Annette Hill Sanders, 44, of 115 Church Ave., died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002 at her home.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Walter and Edna Jay Hill. She was a member of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Sanders Fallaw of the home. Survivors also include a son, Matthew Ryan Sanders, and a grandchild.
Memorial services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Sandy Scott.
The family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to the account of Gail H. Sanders, c/o Harley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 777, Greenwood, SC 29648.

A.B. Cooper, DDS
GREENWOOD — Alvin Boyd "A.B." Cooper, DDS, 90, of 303 Curl Creek Road, husband of Ada Lynn Davis Cooper, died Monday, September 30, 2002 at his home.
Born in Etowah, TN, he was a son of the late Alvin Bennett and Emma Ann Hall Cooper. He attended Tennessee Wesleyan College and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee Dental School, Memphis, TN. He retired from the practice of dentistry in Drew, MS and was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He was a former member of Rotary International, the Lion's Club and was a Shriner. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Greenwood.
Dr. Cooper lived in Drew, Miss., where he practiced dentistry for 40 years and lived in Fort Pierce, Fla., for 22 years before moving to Greenwood six months ago.
Surviving is his wife of the home; a daughter, Dr. Mary Lynn Cooper Polk of the home; a sister, Dr. Dorcas Ferguson of Senatobia, MS; and two grandsons, Dr. Christopher Polk of Chicago, IL and Jonathan Polk of Greenville, SC.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Main Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patricia Griffith-Fallaw officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
The family is at the home.
It is respectfully requested that flowers be omitted and memorials made to Main Street United Methodist Church, 211 N. Main Street, Greenwood, SC 29646; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or to HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646.
Harley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Honorary escorts for the memorial service are members of the Bible Class of Main Street United Methodist Church.

Mamie Gaskin
AUGUSTA — Mamie Ferguson Gaskin, 69, of 204 Beadle Ave., widow of Earthy Gaskin I, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at the Medical College of Georgia.
Born in McCormick County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Alberta Ferguson. She was a member of Pine Grove A.M.E. Church, Plum Branch, S.C.
Survivors include three sons, Earthy Gaskin II of Pensacola, Fla., Michael K. Gaskin of Greenwood and Mitchell Gaskin of Atlanta; two daughters, Alyce Jean Ferguson-Jones and Priscilla Townes, both of Atlanta; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Monday at Bailey Bethel A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Callison, conducted by the Rev. Earthy Gaskin II, assisted by the Rev. Henry Quarles.
Visitation is graveside from 10:30-11 Monday.

Pauline W. Norman
GREENWOOD — Pauline Williams Norman, 65, of 1313 Drew St., widow of Odell Norman Sr., died Friday, July 19, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late David and Evelyn Williams. She was a member of Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, where she was a member of the Missionary Society and Gospel Chorus and a stewardess and class leader.
Survivors include two sons, Odell Norman Jr. and Dexter Raynard Norman, both of Greenwood; a daughter, Debra Curenton of the home; four sisters, Ruby Lyles of Birmingham, Ala., Pearly Ruth Sullivan and Annie Doris Ruff, both of Ninety Six and the Rev. Lohana Mosley of Greenwood; and eight grandchildren. Survivors also include a brother, James Jackson of Washington D.C.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home.

Destiney Meeks
GREENWOOD — Distiney Meeks, infant daughter of Eugenia Meeks and Tyrone Gray, died Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her parents of the home; a sister, Precious of Lincolnton, Ga.; four brothers, Briante, Spencer, Tyriek and Micheal of Greenwood; paternal grandparent, Willie Morris of Mount Carmel and maternal grandmother, Fannie Gilchrist Meeks of Greenwood.
The family is at the home, 1017 Highside St.

GREENWOOD — Memorial services for Destiney Meeks Gray, infant daughter of Eugenia Meeks and Tyrone Gray, are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Robinson & Son Mortuary.
The family is at the home, 1017 Highside St.

Ophelia Morse
EDGEFIELD — Ophelia Morse, of Manor House, died Monday, June 3.
Born in Newberry County, she was a daughter of Merelyn Satterwhite Morse and the late Osia Harrison Morse. She was a member of Pleasant Rock Baptist Church in Ninety Six.
Survivors include her mother of San Antonio; two brothers, Osia Artrulis Morse of Baltimore and Ulysses Alphonso Morse of San Antonio; and a sister, Gwendolyn Morse Hadnott of San Antonio.
The family is at the home on Little Mountain Road, Ninety Six.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, Greenwood.

Mildred Ophelia Morse
EDGEFIELD — Services for Mildred Ophelia Morse, of Manor House, are 3 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Rock Baptist Church, Ninety Six, conducted by the Rev. Robert Taylor, assisted by the Revs. Ernest Cannon and Juliette Curry. The body will be placed in the church at 2. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are church deacons and trustees and friends.
Flower bearers are church deaconesses and friends.
Visitation is from 6:30-7:30 Saturday at Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home.

Oscar E. Pressley Sr.
NINETY SIX — Oscar Pressley Sr., 84, of 717 Brickyard Road, widow of Earlene Williams Pressley, died Saturday, June 1, 2002.
Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Edwin Pressley and Lee Garner Fisher. He was a member of Pine Pleasant Baptist Church and retired from Adams Plant, Ninety Six.
Survivors include a daughter, Dolly Grant of Greenwood; a stepdaughter, Dolly M. Parker of Detroit; a brother, Willie Pressley of Ninety Six; a half brother, John Pressley of Ninety Six; a sister, Hattie Lark of Ninety Six; two half sisters, China L. Hudson of Greenville and Sallie Pressley of Ninety Six; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Survivors include a son, Oscar Pressley Jr. of Ninety Six.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Dolly Grant, 109 Hickory Lane, McKellar Farms and a brother, Willie Pressley, 717 Brickyard Road.
Services will be announced by Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home, Greenwood, which is in charge.

Clara Chalmers
GREENWOOD -- Clara Wrenn Chalmers, 77, resident of 325 Rock Knoll Drive, wife of John Frank Chalmers, died May 13, 2002 at her home.
Born in Greenwood County, May 4, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Wafford and Matilda Crawford Wrenn. She worked for Burlington, Inc. for 29 years and retired from J.P. Stevens Monaghan Plant in Greenville as a shift supervisor of the spinning department.
A member of West Side Baptist Church, she was also a member of the Evelyn Ford Sunday School Class. Mrs. Chalmers was a past president of the Piedmont Chapter of the Business Women's Club and was past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star #288 Wade Hampton Chapter of Greenville.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are a step-daughter, Nancee C. Keasler of Greenwood; a step-son, Max Chalmers and his wife, Patricia of Tryon, NC; a sister, Virginia W. Burton of Greenwood; a brother Samuel "Sam" W. Wrenn of Greenwood; three grandchildren, Sam Keasler and his wife, Andrea, of Greenwood, John Keasler and his wife, Amy of Greenwood and Jennifer Leigh Chalmers of Easley; one great-granddaughter, Victoria Lynn Keasler of Greenwood; several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Chalmers was twice married, first to the late Eugene Moore.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 AM Thursday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert C. "Bob" Morgan and Rev. Hal Lane officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Larry Thomas, Ronald McCurry, Leonard Dorn, Shorty Adams, Ronnie Burton, Frank Stevens, Wade Sherrer and Charles Smith.
Honorary escort will be members of the Evelyn Ford Sunday School Class of West Side Baptist Church and Vernon Lathren.
The family is at the home on Rock Knoll Drive and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 Wednesday evening.
Memorials may be made to West Side Baptist Church Building Fund or the Van Fund, PO Box 216, Greenwood, SC 29648.

Alberta Johnson
GREENWOOD — Alberta Rayford Williams Johnson, 68, of 111 Quince St., Magnolia Place, wife of Fletcher Johnson Jr., died Thursday, May 2, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late John Ramsey and Sarah Rayford. She retired from Greenwood Mills Adams Plant. She was a member of Rochelle Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and Morris Chapel Baptist Church, where she was a former member of the Gospel Chorus. She was first married to the late Cleveland Williams.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, James Wesley Williams of Greenwood and Roger Williams of Ninety Six; a daughter, Vivian Earline Brown of Greenville; a brother, Willie B. Rayford of Greenwood; six grandchildren, one reared in the home, Renee Williams; and five great-grandchildren.
The family is at the home.
Services will be announced by Robinson & Son Mortuary Inc.

Alberta Johnson
GREENWOOD — Alberta Rayford Williams Johnson Jr., 68, wife of Fletcher Johnson Jr., died Thursday, May 2, 2002, at Self Regional Medical Center.
In addition to those previously listed, survivors include six sisters-in-law, Rosa Rayford, Mary Jean Rayford and Rosa Mary Johnson, all of Greenwood, Sarah Ellen Johnson of Abbeville and Abbie Davis and Chris Johnson, both of Philadelphia; a brother-in-law, John Allen Johnson of Philadelphia; a very great friend, Mrs. Mamie Cullum and family and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family is at the home, 111 Quince St., Magnolia Place and at the home of a brother, Willie B. Rayford, 126 Henderson St., Greenwood.
